UFC legend Conor McGregor’s most controversial moments from Khabib bus attack to Dublin pub assault and ‘f*** you’ suit

CONOR McGREGOR has produced some of the most notorious moments in the UFC cage.
But he has made as many headlines for his controversial behaviour outside of it.

From pub brawls to bus attacks, the 32-year-old Irishman has provided plenty of talking points.
With McGregor yet to reverse his third retirement in four years, SunSport looks at his most infamous moments.
    NAZI JIBE
McGregor defeated Russian-born German Dennis Siver in January 2015, earning him a shot at the featherweight title.
But in the pre-fight build up, McGregor tweeted, “Kiss them feet Nazi”.

In his apology he wrote, “Ich bin ein sowwy. Now about them feet…”

    ALDO THREAT
Before McGregor KO’d Jose Aldo in 13 seconds, he said: “If this was a different time, I would invade his favela on horseback, and would kill anyone who wasn’t fit to work. But we’re in a new time, so I’ll whoop his ass instead.”
The Irishman also claimed he would wanted to “turn his favela into a Reebok sweatshop”.
Aldo was born from poverty in Manaus and fought his way to a better life through martial arts.

    CHOLO JIBE
When Nate Diaz filled in on late notice to face McGregor at UFC 196 in March 2016, the UFC hastily put together a press conference.
There Diaz was called “a little cholo” by his newly found rival.
‘Cholo’ is a racially-charged pejorative term meaning a Mexican of low-class or criminal background.

    UFC 200 NO-SHOW
After Diaz beat McGregor, their rematch was pencilled in for UFC 200 – but again controversy marred the pre-fight presser.
The Notorious refused to come to the media event as he wanted to remain in Iceland to train and was also affected by the death of Joao Carvalho, who passed away following a bout with McGregor’s team-mate Charlie Ward.
For failure to show up to the press conference, he was axed from the event all together.

    BOTTLE FIGHT
McGregor and Diaz would get the date for their rematch, but they still couldn’t behave at the presser.
The pair began lobbing bottles at each other, with McGregor then throwing cans of UFC’s sponsored Monster Energy cans.
McGregor was initially fined £120,000, only for it to be halved, while he also had to serve 50 hours of community service.

    RACISM ACCUSATIONS
Before McGregor made his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017, he found himself in hot water for remarks made in the build up.
He shouted at Mayweather, “dance for me, boy” before saying he was “half-black from the belly button down”.
McGregor denied racism, but did say: “If anyone was offended, of course I apologise. I am human at the end of the day.”

    F*** YOU SUIT
In the opening press conference between McGregor and Mayweather, the then-UFC champion wore a pinstripe suit tailored by David August Heil.
But on closer inspection the stripes were made up of ‘f*** you’ remarks.
Explaining the design, Heil said: “The idea originated internally. The expression was the perfect juxtaposition to the traditional pinstripe suit. I wanted to use fighting words.”

    HOMOPHIBIC SLUR
After McGregor’s team-mate and close friend Artem Lobov was defeated in October, 2017 he called opponent Andre Fili a “f****t” for his tactics.
The Irishman – who has campaigned for same-sex marriage before – later held his hands up and issued an apology, admitting his mistake.
He said: “I’m human; I slip up, I say stupid things every damn day. All I can (do) is hold my hand up and apologise if anyone was offended.”

    REF ATTACK
A month after McGregor was captured using homophobic slurs, he was again caught up in controversy following a friend’s fight.
After Ward won at Bellator 187, The Notorious jumped into the cage in celebration but was confronted by referee Mark Goddard.
McGregor then went at Goddard and while being held back appeared to spew verbals at the Brit official.

    BUS ATTACK
In his most infamous incident, McGregor travelled 3,000 miles from Dublin to New York in April 2018 to confront rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was filmed in a dispute with Lobov earlier that week.
The Irishman, accompanied with friends, then attacked the bus with Khabib inside, smashing windows and causing six fights to be cancelled through injuries.
Dana White called it the “most disgusting thing” in UFC’s history.

    POST-FIGHT BRAWL
McGregor would get his chance to settle the score with Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018.
But after winning by submission in four rounds, Khabib hopped the cage and began brawling with McGregor’s team – while the Irishman did the same in the cage.
McGregor was banned for six months and handed a £60,000 but boasted about landing the final punch of the night – on Nurmagomedov’s cousin.

    SMASHING FAN’S PHONE
The Notorious was out of the Octagon throughout 2019 – but was making noise for all the wrong reasons.
In March he was captured smashing a fans phone on the floor in Miami and later arrested.
But he settled a civil lawsuit with the victim out of court.

    PUNCH IN THE PUB
McGregor’s most shameful moment came in April last year after he was caught on CCTV punching a man in his 50s in a Drimnagh pub following a dispute over his Proper 12 whiskey.
It led to several fans in Ireland turning their back on the former two-division champion and some pub refusing to sell his whiskey.

Conor McGregor admits he ‘shivers’ when watching old boxing technique he used in build-up to Floyd Mayweather fight

CONOR McGREGOR admitted he “shivers” in embarrassment at the boxing technique he displayed before fighting Floyd Mayweather.
The UFC superstar made his ring debut in 2017, losing in 10 rounds to all-time great Mayweather.

But in the open workout before the fight McGregor was ridiculed for his unusual warm up in the ring before hitting various bags for 12 rounds at the UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
The Irishman has since returned to his first ever boxing coaches at the Crumlin amateur club, with former Olympian Phil Sutcliffe, for the first time ever, cornering the 32-year-old on his octagon comeback in January.
Before he beat Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds, the now-retired McGregor was filmed back at the UFC’s PI, and admitted he cannot bear to look at the way he was punching in the lead-up to his boxing debut.
He said: “I actually look at the Mayweather [fight], the shots on the bag and the way I was punching and I actually can’t even watch that.

“I shiver when I see the way I was throwing my punches back then. I just wasn’t sitting right on them, just floating through the air.

“Now I’m getting into positions and sitting in. Got to go through everything to learn, to truly learn. Experience is the best teacher of all.”
McGregor neglected to bring in a boxing coach before his loss to Mayweather, with striking trainer Owen Roddy instead leading the camp alongside John Kavanagh.
The former two-time UFC champion has eyed a return to boxing, calling for a rematch against Mayweather, 43, or super-fight against 41-year-old Manny Pacquiao.

Back under the guidance of those who first taught McGregor how to box, he believes he is more prepared to perform in the ring.

Despite Floyd claiming he would “whip McGregor’s ass again”, the Irishman told ESPN in January: “I wasn’t sinking into my shots like I am now, [with] what my boxing coaches are drilling, specific boxing things they’re drilling into me again.
“I know I beat Floyd, I’d beat Floyd if we rematched, when we rematch. I would like to box him. I think that would be a good rematch.
“But also, I would be open to other boxing bouts. You know, Manny. We’re actually close to signing Manny. There’s been talks about the Manny fight as well.”

Watch Mike Tyson slap UFC boss Dana White, kick him out of his seat on private jet and write ‘d***’ on his head in prank

UFC president Dana White felt the wrath of Mike Tyson when the heavyweight legend pranked the promoter by slapping him and kicking him out of his seat on a private jet.
In a throwback clip, Tyson – who continues to impress with his training clips at the age of 54 – walks up to White and says, “Hey, come on, move it” after slapping his pal on the shoulder.

The UFC boss replies: “I like this seat.”
But Tyson sharply responds: “I like it better.” He then moves into the seat and gloats, “Ah, this is nice.”
White, looking a little shocked, shrugs his shoulders as he takes up a seat next to the two-time world champion.
But Tyson – who was recently called out by Riddick Bowe – was not done with having fun at White’s expense.

The iconic puncher then wrote ‘D***’ in capital letters on the American millionaire’s forehead as he fell asleep on the jet.
Despite the pranks, Tyson – who once refereed an MMA match in Manchester 14 years ago – has actually formed a close friendship with White.
White – who grew up in boxing before managing UFC fighters and eventually transitioning into promoting – has invited Tyson octagon side for some of the company’s biggest fights.
And Iron Mike, who walked away from boxing in 2005,  admitted in 2012 that, had MMA been as prominent then as it is today, then he may have chosen the cage over the ring.

Dereck Chisora confirms switch to MMA with Bellator later this year but will still face Usyk in boxing ring before

DERECK CHISORA has confirmed he will debut in MMA but only after facing Oleksandr Usyk in the ring.
The London powerhouse was meant to fight ex-cruiserweight king Usyk, 33, at the O2 Arena in May but the coronavirus pandemic KO’d those plans.

Chisora could debut in MMA after facing Oleksandr Usyk in the ring
Promoter Eddie Hearn wants to still stage the heavyweight headliner in front of a crowd and currently has October as a planned date.
Chisora previously revealed he could fight for Bellator before boxing Usyk to keep busy.
But it appears he will instead focus on fighting the Ukrainian in the ring before embarking on a career in the cage.
Chisora told iFL TV: “With Bellator and my fight with Usyk, a hundred percent it’s happening, it’s gonna happen.

“I’m definitely going into Bellator, this year.
    “I don’t even know who’s in Bellator, I can’t really say much.
“I’m not going to let it fizz-out, I’m on it a hundred percent.”
Chisora, like his manager David Haye did before fighting the heavyweight in 2012, has been training at MMA gym Shootfighters to work on his clinch skills.

But it soon turned into full-blown MMA training as Chisora sparred with kicking involved.
Last month he urged Bellator promoter Scott Coker to let fight his best heavyweights.
Chisora told Sky Sports: “I’ve told [him] give me your best heavyweight and I will knock his lights out!
