Watch as struggling Amir Khan is forced to tap out in ring after being given a masterclass by MMA ace Muhammad Mokaev

AMIR KHAN may be a former unified light-welterweight boxing world champ but he looked a far cry from a title-holder when he attempted MMA.
The 33-year-old tested his wrestling abilities when MMA’s Muhammad Mokaev rocked up to his gym in Bolton.

The boxing star struggled to get out of Mokaev’s grip

Mokaev, who fights out of Manchester, uploaded a video of the pair scrapping on the floor of a ring.
It shows the 20-year-old wrapping his body around Khan’s preventing him from moving.
He then wraps his legs around Khan’s waist while using his arm to get the helpless boxer in a headlock.
After a few seconds of attempting to free himself, Khan decides to call it a day by tapping out.

Although he took it all in good spirits as he had a huge grin on his face while climbing back to his feet.
Mokaev, who has won his only two MMA fights, was eager to show his success off to fans and uploaded the video to social media with the comment: “Brother, please stay boxing.”
    Khan just simply responded: “Haha.”
Khan’s next fight has yet to be arranged despite talk of taking on Brit rival Kell Brook.

Katie Taylor could fight ex-UFC star Cris Cyborg in world title boxing bout as Bellator chief gives green light

KATIE TAYLOR has been given the green light to face former UFC star Cris Cyborg in a world title boxing bout.
But the Irish star, 34, may have to agree to step into the octagon in return for the deal to take place.

After undisputed lightweight champion Taylor secured a repeat rematch win over Delphine Persoon, the Olympic hero is already seeking a different challenge.
And it is thought an opponent from outside of boxing may be the answer for the WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine lightweight world champion.
Now Bellator president Scott Coker confirmed Cyborg could switch across from MMA to challenge the 16-0 Taylor.
Coker told The Telegraph: “I would be thrilled. This is a goal that is important to Cyborg.
“She told me a year ago when I signed her that she wanted to box and become a world champion in boxing.
“We have been approached by three or four females to fight, but while having a boxing title under her belt is something she wants to do, my request is – win, lose, or draw – when the boxing match is done, they reciprocate and come and have an MMA fight in the next six months.
“Then, in my view, it’s fair. If this is something she [Cyborg] wants to do, we are going to support her.”
Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn could get a deal over the line relatively easily due to both his and Bellator’s strong relationship with DAZN.

    3

Taylor boats a perfect professional record inside the ring, winning all 16 of her fights including six by knockout.
The two-weight world champ retained all her lightweight titles with the win by unanimous decision against Belgian Persoon in Hearn’s Brentwood back garden.
Cyborg, meanwhile, has 22 wins – 18 by knockout – from her 25 MMA fights with two defeats and one no contest.
The Brazilian, 35, lost her very first fight to Erica Paes in her homeland way back in 2005.
Her second defeat came against Amanda Nunes in December 2018 where Cyborg was forced to give up her UFC women’s featherweight championship.
She did, however, win the Bellator equivalent in her latest fight at Bellator 238, beating Julia Budd with a TKO.

Floyd Mayweather ‘carried’ McGregor in their fight and won in round ten just as he predicted he would, reveals Broner

ADRIEN BRONER said Floyd Mayweather pre-planned to stop Conor McGregor in ten rounds and ‘carried’ him during their fight.
McGregor, 32, found success in the opening rounds of his boxing debut in 2017 but tired late on as Mayweather, 43, upped the tempo.

Adrien Broner said Floyd Mayweather pre-planned to stop Conor McGregor in ten rounds and ‘carried’ him during their fight

The exhausted Irishman was halted a round after being saved by the bell in the at the end of the ninth.
But Mayweather’s former protege and friend Broner, 31, claimed it was all part of his tactical masterplan to take McGregor past his comfort zone.
Broner told VladTV: “He carried him to the tenth round, stopped him, like he told me he was going to do.
“MMA fighters, they don’t fight 12 rounds, they fight three-five rounds. They don’t fight 12 rounds.”

The lucrative money-fight proved to be Mayweather’s fifth and final as a pro.
McGregor has also since retired, hanging up the gloves in June, despite teasing a boxing return online against 41-year-old Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather is again training, and southpaw sparring partner Denis Douglin revealed the former pay-per-view king could be preparing to rematch The Notorious.
It comes after the unbeaten American last year announced he was ‘coming out of retirement in 2020’ to work with UFC boss Dana White.

Broner – who has not fought since losing to Pacquiao in January 2019 – has also thrown his name into the hat to box one of White’s UFC stars.
He explained: “Hell yeah. You’ve got to think, that’s crossing two support systems.
“You’ve got the UFC support, then you’ve got the boxing supporters, so the fight’s automatically going to be big.
    “Especially if it’s a big-name UFC fighter.

Pacquiao urged to better Mayweather and become ‘best boxer of all time’ by beating UFC star McGregor in quicker time

MANNY PACQUIAO has been urged to better Floyd Mayweather’s win over UFC star Conor McGregor.

It proved to be his last professional fight, but former UFC champion McGregor previously announced plans to box again.
Pacquiao went on to sign for Paradigm Sports – who also work with The Notorious – fuelling speculation of another crossover mega-fight.
And PacMan’s assistant Jayke Joson feels it would give the Filipino the chance to surpass Mayweather by beating McGregor in quicker fashion.
Joson told Manilla Times: “The result of the fight will give us the answer to the question who is the best boxer of all time.

“And who’s the better boxer, Mayweather, who won after 10 rounds or Senator MP?
“That’s why everybody wants to see Pacquiao versus McGregor to compare it to the Mayweather versus McGregor fight.”
McGregor last fought in January, beating 36-year-old Donald Cerrone, but revealed before the fight that he was offered the chance to face Pacquiao.
The Irishman since announced his retirement, but continued to tease a comeback to the ring against PacMan.

And it was revealed his home fans want the boxing legend to face McGregor before hanging up the gloves.
But his strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune is not so convinced.
Trainer Fortune said: “Why even make that guy rich?
“And it will do absolutely nothing for Pacquiao as far as his legacy.
“Manny will destroy Conor McGregor inside the three rounds. He will obliterate him I mean, my God, this is boxing.
“We are boxers. McGregor is an MMA guy and we can’t do MMA, and he can’t box, that’s very simple.”

BROCK LESNAR has been slammed as a “fraud in MMA” and called out to a bare-knuckle fight by Vitor Belfort.
Lesnar, 43, is a free agent after his WWE contract expired, leading to speculation that he could make a fighting return.

Vitor Belfort called out ex-UFC champion Lesnar
Former UFC fighter Belfort – now signed to ONE Championship – has thrown his name into that hat to face the crossover star, even with just “bare hands”.
He told  Submission Radio: “Brock Lesnar, I think you’re a fraud. But I’ll give you a chance.
“I think you’re a fraud. If you really want to fight with me, let’s go bare hands, me and you.
“We put the gloves, we go combat, you know? I know you’re a very tough man. I heard you’re a grappler, but I’ll fight you, man.

“I’ll fight you any day, any time, and I think that’s a legendary fight right there. But I think he’s a fraud in MMA.”
Lesnar first made the career switch to MMA in 2007 and a year later lost his UFC debut to Frank Mir.
By 2008 he won the heavyweight title after beating UFC legend Randy Couture and successfully defended it against Mir and Shane Carwin.

“We don’t have the date set yet – but we’ve already seen how she moves. She’s not totally raw.
“We’ll have to work, add some concepts and change a few concepts she’s carrying over, but I think it’s going to be a smooth transition.

Conor McGregor taunts Floyd Mayweather on three-year fight anniversary as UFC legend claims he ‘carried’ boxer

CONOR McGREGOR taunted Floyd Mayweather on their three-year fight anniversary after claiming he “carried” the boxer in the bout.
McGregor lost his boxing debut in ten rounds against Mayweather, who would go on to retire a perfect 50-0.

    3

Conor McGregor taunted Floyd Mayweather on their three-year fight anniversary
The Irishman started well, winning some of the opening rounds, before his legendary opponent upped the pace and controlled the action.
Many claimed Mayweather surrendered the early session to tire McGregor.
But the former UFC champion flipped the narrative and goaded it was him who helped Mayweather along the way.
He wrote online: “3 years ago today I carried Floyd for his final boxing match.

“Wow time flies when you’re stacking cheddar. Happy retirement champ.”
Despite Mayweather not fighting professionally since, McGregor has been campaigning for a rematch.

Before his UFC comeback in January, which he won against Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds, he was adamant about boxing the 43-year-old again.
McGregor told ESPN: “I know I beat Floyd, I’d beat Floyd if we rematched, when we rematch.

“He’s not gonna do a mixed martial arts bout like he said. It was supposed to be me boxing, and then we’ll do a mixed martial arts bout.
“That was what was said. And it came out of his mouth as well, and it was not written, but it was a verbal agreement.
“And obviously, that’s not gonna happen. I’m not going to push him on that, either.
“But I would like to box him. I think that would be a good rematch.”

But McGregor has not fought since the new year and even retired in June, having grown frustrated during coronavirus lockdown having been unable to compete.
Following his announcement, Mayweather was on hand to offer the Irish southpaw a rematch, should he have a change in heart.
He said: “If I’m not mistaken, didn’t you tell Mike Tyson you could beat me if we fought a second time.
“Now you’re quitting! I thought you wanted to beat the best? Well, if you decide to come back, I will be waiting to punish you again.”
Mayweather last year announced he was “coming out of retirement in 2020” to work with UFC boss Dana White.
White revealed the American plans to box again, but ruled out a lucrative second fight with McGregor.
