Manny Pacquiao urged to fight UFC icon Conor McGregor in last bout before retiring by Filipino boxing fans

MANNY PACQUIAO has been urged by Filipino fight fans to box UFC star Conor McGregor before he retires.
Pacquiao, 41, is eyeing two more bout before closing the curtain on his iconic career.

McGregor revealed he received an offer to face Pacquiao in the past.
He this year signed for Paradigm Sports – the same management company as McGregor – fuelling talks of a fight between the pair.
And according to PacMan’s assistant Jayke Joson, his beloved fans back in the Philippines want the eight-division champion to face McGregor in his final fight.
Joyson told Manila Standard: “I have talked to nine out of 10 Filipinos and they really like UFC star Conor McGregor as the senator’s last opponent before he leaves professional boxing for good.
“I think we will know about Sen. Pacquiao’s plans in boxing as soon as the COVID-19 virus crisis is over.

“For the senator, this is not the time for a boxing fight. It’s really up to the senator when he will retire from boxing.
“But many Filipinos want our senator to take on McGregor because that will be a great fight.”

The fight would be the most lucrative ever to not feature Floyd Mayweather
McGregor – who retired from the UFC in early June – teased a return to boxing on Twitter.
The Irishman, who lost to Floyd Mayweather in 2017, even revealed he received an offer to face Pacquiao in the past.

McGregor told ESPN in January, before he beat Donald Cerrone: “There have been talks about the Manny fight.
“There was an offer made on that – just not yet, but it’s a possibility.”
Dana White admitted McGregor could make a retirement U-turn in 2021, but ruled out a fighting return before the year’s out.

Floyd Mayweather negotiations to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov collapsed as Russian didn’t want to ‘break’ UFC contract

KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV revealed negotiations to fight Floyd Mayweather collapsed as he did not want to “break” his UFC contract.
Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017 after easily beating Nurmagomedov’s rival Conor McGregor.

Khabib revealed negotiations to fight Floyd Mayweather collapsed as he did not want to ‘break’ his UFC contract

    3

Nurmagomedov was told he would be breaching the terms of his UFC deal if he was to box Mayweather
Shortly after UFC champion Khabib defeated McGregor in 2018, he called out 50-0 unbeaten boxer Mayweather.
Nurmagomedov was told he would be breaching the terms of his UFC deal if he was to box the American – despite loopholes being found in the terms.
But the Russian grappler wanted to remain faithful to his employers.
Nurmagomedov said: “They told me: ‘Yes, you’ll be scolded, fined. But we’ll take care of all the fines.’

“I told them that, for me, a contract is more important than money and we can’t have an agreement with UFC if we’re willing to break it.
“I’m not aware of the UFC’s own position on the Mayweather fight.”

The UFC forbids their stars from competing in other combat sports, with McGregor needing an exemption to make his boxing debut three years ago.
Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz last year revealed Mayweather was in line to face his client in Saudi Arabia this January.

But UFC boss Dana White called off the pay-per-view spectacle.
Mayweather last November announced he was coming out of retirement in 2020 to work with White again.
The UFC promoter recently revealed the former box office king wants to make a comeback.

Conor McGregor training partner Dillon Danis will ‘100 per cent’ fight either Jake or Logan Paul in boxing or MMA match

DILLON DANIS is “100 per cent” confident he will fight either Jake or Logan Paul.
Danis, a 2-0 Bellator welterweight and also Conor McGregor’s training partner, has been involved in an online feud with the YouTube brothers.

Dillon Danis called out Jake and Logan Paul

    2

Jake and Logan have both boxed and hinted at an MMA switch
In particular he has clashed with 23-year-old Jake, who won his pro boxing debut in February and faces former NBA star Nate Robinson next month
But promoter Eddie Hearn has also been in talks with Danis to fight Logan – who lost to YouTube rival KSI last year. But this time in a cage.
Whichever brother gets the nod, Danis is adamant he will fight one, either in the boxing ring or cage.
He told ESPN: “Jake is the one that really wants to fight me, Logan wants to fight me in MMA.

“They both know I’m the only one that makes sense in MMA, there’s no one that has a name like me.
“Eddie Hearn has talked to me before, about Logan Paul. They have reached out, so like it will happen, 100 per cent.
    “One of them will happen.”

Mike Tyson reveals hidden fear that would allow Conor McGregor to easily beat him in UFC and stopped him trying MMA

MIKE TYSON has admitted he would never fight Conor McGregor in UFC – because of his fear of feet.
The reformed Baddest Man on The Planet has revealed that would be the main reason he would swerve a career in MMA.

And despite claiming he would beat 32-year-old McGregor in a boxing match, Tyson could never step foot in the Octagon.
He said on the Dan Patrick Show: “I don’t think I wanna do that.
“Not because Conor might kick my a**, it’s just because Conor has the right to step on my feet.
“If anybody steps on my feet I’m tapping out. He doesn’t need to hit me.

“If he steps on my feet when we get out the ring it’s gonna be a problem.
“Then we’ll have some police involved. We’ll have the lawyer involved. It’s gonna be ugly.”
Tyson, who is preparing to make a boxing comeback aged 54 by facing Roy Jones Jr, 51, in an exhibition bout, explained his fear of feet in a GQ Sports interview last year.

Roy Jones Jr out to settle score with UFC icon Anderson Silva after Mike Tyson showdown

ROY JONES JR is vowing to give 45-year-old UFC whippersnapper Anderson Silva a dream shot – if he can first prove he’s more nifty over 50 than Mike Tyson.
Former four-weight world champion Jones Jr, 51, takes on 54-year-old ex-heavyweight king Tyson in an exhibition comeback bout on September 12.

Jones is then keen to meet former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion Silva – a decade after they both promised the boxing showdown.
He told  MMA Fighting: “He always wanted to make a fight with me.
“They just never allowed him the opportunity to do it, or they never had the right time to do it
“We both gave our words that if we ever got the opportunity, we would.

    ‘MIKE’S A KILLER’
“I did give him my word that if the opportunity came, I would, so after this fight, he could get it.”
Before that, though, Jones admits facing Tyson is “risky” – calling him a “strong lion” with a “cheetah mentality”.
So Jones believes he must stay out of danger early on to become king of the half-centurions’ jungle after fellow American Tyson tires.
He said: “Not only does Mike look like a killer, Mike is a killer, but the whole thing people need to realise is, Mike is a killer, not a cheetah.

Five UFC stars who could fight Floyd Mayweather, who wants to get in the ring with Khabib and McGregor for £482m payday

FLOYD MAYWEATHER looks on course to stick to his plan of coming out of retirement to fight once again – but has already warned it will NOT be against a boxer.
The 43-year-old regularly posts training clips in his Las Vegas gym, working on various bags with his speed and accuracy there for all to see.

    6

Floyd Mayweather has teased the possibility of returning to fight a UFC star
Mayweather fuelled talks of yet another comeback last November, after announcing online he was “coming out of retirement in 2020” to work with UFC boss Dana White on a “spectacular event”.
He officially retired in 2017 after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, but did return a year later to topple featherweight Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition bout.
And during a tour in the UK, Mayweather revealed he would not return to fight an “ordinary” boxer, insisting he had nothing to prove, and instead fancied another mega-money crossover bout.
He said: “It doesn’t make sense for me to fight just any ordinary fighter because I’m at the point right now where it’s about business, I’m a businessman.”

Here SunSports lists five UFC fighters who could fit the bill to face Mayweather, should he make yet another ring comeback.
    CONOR McGREGOR
Both Mayweather and McGregor have expressed an interest to rematch.
Mayweather even claimed he had spoken to White about fighting the Irishman and UFC lightweight king Khabib Nurmagomedov on the SAME day.
McGregor believes he is more prepared to face Mayweather having returned to his first amateur boxing coaches before his last win against Donald Cerrone.

After beating Cerrone, The Notorious insisted he will rematch Mayweather, as he said: “The discussions are always ongoing. They never stop. You know Floyd is going through money fast.
“He’s far from retired, and that rematch will happen at some stage.”
Straight after, Mayweather uploaded a mocked up poster of him and McGregor appearing to confirm his interest in a rematch.

    6

Mayweather beat Conor McGregor in August 2017 by stoppageCredit: Getty
    KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV
After undefeated UFC champion Nurmagomedov beat McGregor a year after Mayweather’s stoppage victory in the ring, the Russian began to trade words online with the retired American.
Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz even revealed UFC promoter White put a stop to the pair fighting this January in Saudi Arabia.
Since then Khabib has poured cold water on the bout, insisting it would only be a “money fight” rather than a legitimate one to enhance his legacy.
But Mayweather still confirmed in March that he would “absolutely” face the Dagestani hero, but would demand £240m to do so.
Mayweather would have to put his 50-0 unbeaten record on the line, but would likely feel more comfortable doing so against Nurmagomedov, an esteemed grappler with less threat in his boxing ability.
Abdelaziz remains in contact with the 43-year-old superstar, meaning a deal is still possibly on the cards.

    6

Mayweather shared this mocked up poster in January
    JORGE MASVIDAL
Masvidal enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom in 2019 with wins against Darren Till, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz.
After beating Diaz, the 35-year-old revealed his desire to get involved in the business of crossover bouts, calling out Canelo Alvarez – who has replaced Mayweather as boxing’s top attraction.
But Masvidal then tweeted: “Yes it is true. I can make 154” as he told fans he could drop down to fight Mayweather at 154lb – the same weight McGregor boxed the American.
And the UFC welterweight later insisted he would give Mayweather a better fight than The Notorious did, accusing the Irishman of running out of steam by round eight.
Masvidal told TMZ Sports: “I can box my a** off. Not saying I’m a better boxer than Mayweather, but man, I’m gonna be in there with bad intentions trying to hurt him.
“I’m a well-conditioned athlete that’s not gonna fade. I’m not gonna fade in the eighth or ninth round. I’m gonna be there for the whole night.”

    6

Jorge Masvidal has called out both Mayweather and Canelo AlvarezCredit: Getty – Contributor
    DUSTIN POIRIER
Poirier, who has been beaten by McGregor and Nurmagomedov in the past, has previously revealed his desire to box as professional.
UFC boss White still plans to launch his own boxing promotion, and Poirier called out Nick and Nate Diaz to a fight in the ring.
Poirier told MMAJunkie in January: “I’d be willing to box him if they wanted to do that.
“I wish Zuffa Boxing was around and we’d have an opportunity – him and his brother were always talking about crossing over to boxing, I’d love to put the paws on him and show you guys my boxing skills.”
With McGregor plotting a path back to the UFC title, and Nurmagomedov set to defend his belt against the winner of Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje, Poirier provides a solid alternative for Mayweather.
The 31-year-old southpaw is yet to call Mayweather out, but could garner the right amount of attention following his previous comments about wanting to make a boxing switch.

    6

Dustin Poirier wants to make his professional boxing debut
    TJ DILLASHAW
Former bantamweight champion Dillashaw is currently serving a two-year suspension for a failed drug test before his January 2019 loss to Henry Cejudo.
But the 34-year-old – who has sparred pound-for-pound great Vasiliy Lomachenko – said during his time on the sidelines he can transition into a boxer should Mayweather be seeking a renowned name to fight.
He told ESPN in November: “Mayweather wants a UFC star that’s good at striking. I’ve got a whole year to reinvent myself to become a boxer.
“I’ve got the who’s-who in the boxing world. I can train with the Lomachenkos, Terence Crawfords – he ain’t going to be able to wear me out and finish me because of my cardio.
“I think that’s a very intriguing fight. I’d love to get that Mayweather fight, not even for the money – just for the fact of proving us UFC fighters (have) got what it takes to get in that ring.”
“I think Conor McGregor did a great job of showing what we can do, and that our movements are awkward and that it’s tough for (boxers) to deal with, and I’ve seen it myself in the boxing world. I think that would be a super intriguing thing to get involved in, and I’ve got the time to do it.”

Chisora in talks to make MMA switch with Bellator picturing ‘fun opponent’ after Hearn hinted at Whyte fight

BELLATOR promoter Scott Coker confirmed he has held talks with heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora.
Chisora, 36, announced plans to make an MMA switch, as he grew frustrated with boxing’s pause amid the coronavirus pandemic.

    2

Bellator promoter Scott Coker confirmed he has held talks with heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora
His headliner against Oleksandr Usyk, 33, was axed in May but now looks set for October.
Chisora hopes to make his cage debut afterwards, with Coker all-in to work with the Londoner.
He told Sky Sports: “There is dialogue. We’d love to have him.
“If he has time in his schedule to compete in MMA, we’d love to put him in there and test him out.

“Depending on his schedule we’d love to get him into our rotation, if time permits.
“He has so many boxing fights but it is still a different experience to fight with little gloves, and in a cage would be an adjustment.
“I picture a fun opponent for him to compete with.

“We haven’t spoken about opponents or timing. It comes down to when he is available.

“Let’s get it on! He brings a lot to the table.”
Chisora has been training at London Shootfighters academy, to help improve his clinch work in prep to face Usyk.
But it soon turned into full blown MMA training, with Bellator star Michael Venom Page involved.
MVP said: “He is around us a lot. We train together a lot, do our fitness together.
“He has jumped into a couple of sessions with us, to see what it’s about.
“But I see where his passion is. It is in boxing. From what I see, his focus should be on boxing.”

From Cristiano Ronaldo’s five naps a day to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s four-hour snooze.. how much sports stars sleep

BEING one of the most well known sporting icons on the planet is tiring work.
But rather than sleep all night, Cristiano Ronaldo instead takes FIVE naps a day while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson snoozes for just four hours to keep himself going.

    17

    Cristiano Ronaldo takes FIVE naps-a-day
Earlier this month, it emerged Juventus superstar Ronaldo, 35, grabs 40 winks five times each day and sleeps in the foetal position.
And here SunSport can reveal the different sleep patterns of several other sporting icons from across the globe and how many hours of ‘Zzz’ time they get, according to Online Mattress Review.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – 4 hours

    17

The WWE icon turned movie star hits the sack for just four hours-a-night.
At 48, Hawaiian born Johnson clocks off between midnight and is up and about again at 4am.

Presumably to work out at least 25 times a day to maintain his impressive physique.
    Muhammad Ali – 6.5 hours

    17

Muhammad Ali was a religious man and slept for 6.5 hours after dinner and prayers

    17

The greatest boxer of all time put many opponents to sleep in his time and would wind down between 10pm and 4:30am.
As a devout Muslim, much of his time would be split between prayer and training.
And his evening routine would include a walk after dinner, a quick wash, prayers and short stint in front of the TV before he dozed off.

    Serena Williams – 7 hours

    17

    17

Serena Williams clocks up a solid seven hours of sleep after socialising and work
You do not need hawk eye to tell when Serena is out for the count but we can neither confirm or deny whether her snoring makes a racket.
The tennis sensation takes a solid seven hour sleep between midnight and 7am each day after a post-dinner routine of socialising and work.
The 38-year-old former world number one is also a mum of a young daughter so her slumbers are no doubt interrupted by the littl’un every now and then.
    Cristiano Ronaldo – 7.5 hours

    17

Ronaldo sleeps in the fetal position to stay in top shape aged 35

    17

Ronaldo has perhaps the oddest routine of all the big stars.
Rather than one lump of rest at the end of each day like most of us, Ronnie reportedly prefers to take short naps of an hour-and-a-half each time throughout the day.
After dinner, he relaxes with his friends before a swim at 10pm.
He then takes one of his signature naps until midnight and relaxes until another short burst of sleep from around 3am before waking up for the day.
    Ronda Rousey – 8 hours

    17

MMA star Rousey does not mess around when it comes to getting the right amount of rest

    17

MMA and WWE star Rousey’s routine seems pretty standard.
Eight hours between midnight and 8am.
    Nice and simple.
    Tiger Woods – 8.5 hours

    17

Tiger Woods – perhaps the greatest golfer in history – spends more than a third of his day asleep

    17

Woods is generally considered the best golfer of all time.
And to maintain such high levels, the superstar spends eight and a half hours dreaming of sinking putts and splitting fairways.
He snoozes from 10pm to 6:30am – proving the early birdie really does catch the worm.
    Tom Brady – 9 hours

    17

Tom Brady is widely considered the best quarter-back ever to play American Football and he does not compromise when it comes to rest

    17

Like Woods, Brady is considered the greatest ever in his field.
The former New England Patriots quarter-back is revered in across the world for his sustained and unrivalled talent.
And the 42-year-old – who is still playing for the Tampa Bay Bucacaneers – makes sure he touches down to sleep for nine hours each day between 8:30pm and 5:30am.

    Stephen Curry – 9 hours

    17

NBA star Stephen Curry is one of the longest sleepers on the list with a solid nine hours

    17

Basketball star Stephen Curry is another record breaker who is set to go down in the NBA history books.
The Golden State Warriors point guard is another who does not take rest lightly – opting to hit the hay for nine hours between 11pm and 8am every day.
