Jake Paul hopes Tyron Woodley fight goes ‘a couple rounds’ after fans claimed stunning Ben Askren KO was ‘rigged’

JAKE PAUL hopes his fight with Tyron Woodley goes ‘a couple rounds’ to avoid fans accusing him of another fix. The YouTuber is 3-0 in his career, all by knockout, and beat online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ and then ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37.

Most recently, he finished retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37, in less than two minutes with a stunning right hand.
With only a combined five rounds in three fights, Paul faces his biggest challenge to date on August 29 against ex-UFC champion Woodley, 39.
And the social media star-turned prizefighter is desperate to show fans his full boxing arsenal after some accused his last win of being ‘rigged’.
Paul, 24, told SunSport: “I’ve said it, I wouldn’t mind going a couple rounds with this guy.
“To show my inside fighting, to show my work to the body, to show how I set shots up, to show my head movement, defence.
“To show that I can take a hit. I haven’t been able to show any of this, so I really wouldn’t mind it going a couple of rounds because then I think the boxing community will be like, ‘Oh, damn this kid can actually fight’.
How Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley compare ahead of their boxing match

“Even in the last fight, I knocked Ben Askren out, people were like, ‘There’s no way this is possible, it’s rigged’.
“Yeah, I want a challenge and I want a tough fight.”
Paul’s unbeaten start to his career has attracted as many critics as it has done supporters.
But now, signed to American network Showtime – where Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather both starred – he knows the lights have never been brighter.
Paul said: “I think there will be a very different audience tuning into this fight that will be more boxing-purist.
“And I think they’re going to be judging me, they’re going to be judging my skill, they’re going to be judging everything about the night.
“They’re going to be looking at everything and thinking, ‘Hey, should I like this kid or not?’
“Even in the last fight, I knocked Ben Askren out, people were like, ‘There’s no way this is possible, it’s rigged’.Jake Paul
“So this is my make-or-break fight, the biggest moment of my life.
“This is my time to truly, truly shine and show off my boxing ability that I’ve worked so hard to grow and to gain.”
Despite Paul’s infancy in the sport, his career as an internet sensation with over 20MILLION subscribers leaves him the A-side attraction.
So much so, even British reality TV star Tommy Fury, brother to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is a feature on his undercard.
Fury, 22, who appeared on ITV’s hit show Love Island in 2019, faces Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32.
A win for the celebrity pair sets them up for an expected pay-per-view fight of their own.
But Paul insisted being the ‘boss’ at the negotiation table is no mental advantage and is instead just happy to use his platform to benefit boxing.
    ‘I’M A FIGHTER’
He said: “I mean, I guess I don’t know how they look at it. For me, I don’t think it makes a difference.
“I’m going in there like I’m fighting the best fighters in the world and they should be thinking the same thing.
“Just because I’m the boss, I don’t hold that against them.
“I want everyone to win here and at the end of the day, I want to change this sport and give fighters the biggest paydays of their lives.
“I think everyone on the card is getting the biggest paydays of their boxing careers. And so I’m for the fighters at the end of the day.
“There’s a lot of s*** talk and hoopla, but at the end of the day, I’m a fighter, so I’m for the fighters.”

Jake Paul reveals 13-man ‘hit-list’ with Conor McGregor, Tommy Fury and his own brother Logan Paul

JAKE PAUL revealed his 13-man boxing ‘hit-list’ which includes Conor McGregor, Tommy Fury and his own brother Logan Paul. The YouTube sensation already has online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren ticked off.
    Jake Paul’s boxing ‘hit-list’
Jake Paul names his boxing ‘hit-list’
And Paul will look to add to that on August 29, in his fourth and toughest fight to date against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
He took to Instagram to then add, Canelo Alvarez, Nate Diaz or Nick DiazKamaru Usman, Fury, McGregor, KSI, Gervonta Davis and brother Logan.
Speaking to SunSport days before the social media post, Paul revealed the list grows after each fight, and has some unnamed rivals yet to be included.
He said: “It sort of changes and moulds as I go fight by fight.
“But I guess, Canelo Alvarez, Kamaru Usman, Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, you know, KSI will always be on that list, be who knows what will happen there.
“Tommy Fury’s on that list, I feel like I’m forgetting names but there’s some fighters I’m thinking of right now that I don’t even want to mention as it’s not worth giving them the clout to.
“I think after this fight, I’m going to go back to the drawing board and re-up the list and actually write it down, that’s a good idea.”

Paul, 24, did go back to the drawing board – quite literally a white one – as he listed his dream opponents.
    Canelo, 31, is boxing’s current pound-for-pound No1 and a four-weight champion.
But the Mexican legend should never be in the ring with anyone not of championship calibre.
Brothers Nate, 36, and Nick, 37, are both veterans of the UFC who have hinted at crossing over to the boxing ring before.
SunSport understands with Nate left with just one fight on his UFC contract, talks with Paul’s camp have taken place.
So too had Usman, 34, but a deal is unlikely to be agreed with the UFC welterweight champion one of the promotion’s leading stars.
For the same reason it makes any negotiations with McGregor, 33, difficult, with the Irishman refusing to even acknowledge Paul.
    ROAD TO FURY
One man who is though is Fury, 22, brother to heavyweight champion Tyson, 33.
The 6-0 light-heavyweight had feuded with Paul online and even signed a two-fight deal with the American’s broadcasters Showtime.
Fury will feature on his rival’s undercard this month and a win for both is expected to line them up with a pay-per-view fight of their own.
Also on the list is YouTube foe KSI, 28, who beat Paul’s brother Logan, 26, in 2019 by spilt-decision.
But the Brit is yet to return to the ring, with a grudge match between the two growing less likely.
A surprise name mentioned was Gervonta Davis, 26, who is still a super-featherweight champion.
The end-game now is to become a world champion, just to say I did it because everyone said I couldn’t.Jake Paul
That means Paul is FOUR STONE heavier Davis, a protege of Floyd Mayweather’s.
And lastly both the Paul brothers have talked up a fight between them, despite their parents opposing the idea.
Paul explained his A-list of opponents is all part of his masterplan to eventually upset the odds and become an unlikely world champion.
He said: “The end-game now is to become a world champion, just to say I did it because everyone said I couldn’t.
“To get a world championship belt and to make history and leave an everlasting impact on this sport, create amazing events, and cards and fights that people remember forever.
    “And to retire on top.”

Woodley’s clash with the social media star turned boxer will mark his professional boxing debut, which Showtime chief Stephen Espinoza claims will see The Chosen One take home a ‘career-high’ purse.
He told MMA Fighting: “I think there are some people out there who dismissed Tyron’s claim as something for marketing.
“That wasn’t said, Tyron didn’t make that comment to market the event. That doesn’t sell pay-per-views.
“He made that comment because it’s true. I’ve talked to him about it, I’ve talked to Malki [Kawa] about it and they all confirmed it is a career-high payday.
“He is getting a guarantee that is more than he’s ever made before. That does say something.
“It says something about the business model that Jake has and it says something about sort of the business model of boxing versus MMA where there’s more of a tradition of the fighters taking home the lion’s share of the money.”

Woodley is champing at the bit to get his hands on Paul and has vowed to viciously KO the 24-year-old.
He said: “You will visualize Jake Paul getting his head knocked smooth off his neck.
“Sometimes you talk yourself into a situation that you can’t back yourself out of … my mom used to say, ‘Your mouth wrote a check that your ass can’t cash.’ That’s exactly what happened.
“Now, you got a motherfer that’s going to fight you like you ain’t never been fought before.
“Ain’t no sparring you can do to mothef***ing get ready for it.”
“Ain’t no meditation. Ain’t no kumbaya. Ain’t no mama say, mama sa mama coosa.

“Ain’t s**t you can do. You getting your ass beat. I’m pumped up about it.”
Former Disney star Paul is currently 3-0 as a pro boxer having registered stoppage wins over AnEson Gib, Nate Robinson and Woodley’s good friend Ben Askren.
And The Problem Child has vowed to add Woodley’s name to his victim list in devastating fashion.

He said: “Tyron’s a seasoned striker who has fought the best MMA fighters in the world but will be dropped by a Disney teen star in 2 rounds.”
“Maybe this time Dana White will actually be a man of his word and put his money on his former champion instead of trying to undermine my success like a jealous ex.

As a result, it has seen him publicly feuding with UFC president White.
The promoter hit out at Paul and his choice of opponents while speaking to social media stars Nelk boys.
    White said: “He’s calling out Conor. Conor’s a 145-pound champion and a 155-pound champion.
“You’re f***ing way bigger than Conor.”
Asked about Paul’s chances of winning against McGregor, White said: “Zero.”
Paul, 24, is 3-0 as a boxer, all by knockout, since his professional debut in 2020 but has so far faced limited opposition.

He has beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and most recently retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
Paul faces his biggest step up on August 29 against Tyron Woodley, 39, a former UFC champion.
But still White is yet to be convinced by the polarising celebrity, who has not yet fought a seasoned boxer.
He said: “The media is not really following as much as they did in the beginning.
    Jake Paul entered elite company
“The stick is getting old, you know what I mean? I think for him to get the media back he’s gonna have to really fight somebody.
“Because they’re tired of it. They’re tired of the stick, ‘Hey it’s me, I weigh 190 and I want to fight these guys that weigh 170, 155, one-f***ing whatever and they are wrestling, they are 40-f***ing years old and they haven’t won a fight in three f****g years.
“If you want to be taken seriously by the media he needs to fight a real fight.”

But the Irishman was knocked out by Dustin Poirier – the man he beat in 2014 – a month later in dramatic fashion.
Poirier, 32, then won the trilogy bout in July after McGregor, 33, broke his tibia seconds before the end of round one.
The former two-weight UFC champion was blasted for his pre and post-fight trash talk, which included threatening to KILL his American rival.
And Paul also hit out at McGregor as he taunted the UFC poster boy.
He told MMA Fighting: “Look, he’s this guy that was the s*** for so long and was the centre of attention, and now his career has plummeted.
“He’s falling off. He’s 1-3 in five years and it seems as if people don’t really care. He’s disrespectful. Even to the point where it’s too far.

Earlier in the month, YouTuber Paul also sprung a surprise in the ring as he took Floyd Mayweather the distance in their exhibition bout.
Afterwards, he held talks with UFC middleweight icon Silva, with rumours of a fight in September.
But according to MMA Fighting, the Brazilian, 46, is instead in line to face Ortiz, also 46, on September 11 under Triller’s ‘Fight Club’ banner.
Set to headline that night is the returning Oscar De La Hoya, 48, against Vitor Belfort, 44, also once a UFC champion.
Social media app Triller made a splash in the boxing business last year with Mike Tyson, 55, making a comeback against Roy Jones Jr, 52.

And they also had two of Jake Paul’s fights, the last of which was against retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37, in April.
His brother Logan, 26, has been looking for his next opponent having taken Mayweather, 44, all eight rounds.
And his manager had confirmed talks with Silva, who is now 2-1 as a boxer.
But those plans could be dashed as Ortiz confirmed on Twitter that his next fight is a done deal.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan changed the layout of his podcast studio because he was scared of ‘amped up’ Mike Tyson

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has revealed he had to change the layout of his podcast studio following his most recent interview with Mike Tyson.Iron Mike made his second appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast three months before his exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.

Joe Rogan made the table in his new studio wider because of Mike TysonCredit: Joe Rogan Experience
Tyson, 55, was a completely different man to the cool, calm and collected individual Rogan first interviewed in January 2019.
And the former undisputed heavyweight champion’s amped nature left Rogan wishing there was a little more space between them.
During the latest episode of his podcast, the 53-year-old said: “[Mike Tyson] is the reason why this table is this wide.
“This table, I was going to make it more narrow, I even had a smaller table that we were working with as a guide.
“We were still doing the shows back in LA, while we were setting up this studio, I did an interview with Tyson, and he was so amped up for this Roy Jones fight, that I got nervous being in the room.

“I’m like, ‘I like that extra six inches of space between us, because he was so ramped up.”
Rogan wasn’t the only person to notice Tyson’s markedly different demeanour.
He continued: “When he left, Jamie [his producer] goes ‘that’s a totally different person’.
“Because he went from being, ‘Mike Tyson, pot grower, not working out at all’, to getting ready to go to combat again.”

Tyson turned in an impressive display in his exhibition with Jones Jr, which ended in a draw.
And the boxer once known as The Baddest Man on the Planet intends to lace up his gloves again.
When asked if he will fight again, Tyson told Patrick Mouratoglou: “Yeah, absolutely. It’ll be better this time.”
He added: “It was interesting. I felt really good, I felt confident. I felt that I could do it again.”

And amazingly the social media star, who had boxed just twice beforehand, survived all eight rounds, technically avoiding defeat.
Mayweather, 44, had officially retired as a professional in 2017, beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 33, in a fight White helped promote.
But the UFC president, who has had a long friendship with the boxing legend, admitted his age showed against Paul, 18 years his junior.
White told Nelk Boys: “Have you ever met Floyd Mayweather in person? He’s f***ing tiny, man.
“He’s tiny, and Logan’s f***ing big, too. But, I thought he did a good job tying Floyd up, not letting Floyd get off when he was.
“And Floyd looked old that night, too. And I think Floyd knew he looked old that night.”
He’s fighting with a YouTuber just to earn money. And I’m fighting the best to add to my legacy, so that’s different. Manny Pacquiao on Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather, who had not boxed since a 2018 exhibition with featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, was also hit with criticism by Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, 42, lost to the American in 2015 but is still fighting the best in the business, challenging for Errol Spence Jr’s welterweight titles on August 21.
And he recently said: “He’s fighting with a YouTuber just to earn money. And I’m fighting the best to add to my legacy, so that’s different.
