Bellator star Douglas Lima respects Jake Paul and won’t call him ‘s***’ but says fight against YouTuber is ‘too easy’

DOUGLAS LIMA revealed his respect for Jake Paul and refuses to call him ‘s***’ but said fighting the YouTuber would be ‘too easy’. Paul, who is 4-0 as a boxer, has made a habit of feuding MMA fighters lately with his last two wins coming against ex-UFC stars.

The most recent was a points win over ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, which followed from a knockout win against Ben Askren, 37.
His older brother Logan is officially 0-1 as a professional boxer following defeat to online rival KSI, 28, a year after they drew in an exhibition.
But Logan stunned all after he faced boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 44, in an exhibition in June and survived all eight rounds.
Ex-Bellator champion Lima is in full admiration of the brothers, especially unbeaten Jake, but fancies his chances against both.
He told MMA Fighting: “I think I would defeat either one of them, easy.
“[Jake] is tough. Jake Paul beat Woodley and everything, the guy trains hard, I see him training with professionals.
“I wouldn’t disrespect and call him s***. He has my respect.”

Lima, 33, returns to the cage on Saturday, in a rematch against Britain’s Michael Venom Page, 34, who he beat in 2019.
The Brazilian, who is coming off two loses, has the welterweight title well within his sights again.
But he refused to rule out a switch to the boxing ring, and reckons the Paul brothers are easy money.
Lima said: “Boxing would be good. Boxing those brothers and make some good money.
“That would be cool. But, [going to] other organisations like the UFC, I never even stopped to think about it.
“Boxing one of these guys would be too easy. I’m focused on Page, of course, but I hope that happens one day.”

Jake Paul has ‘so many advantages’ over Conor McGregor in boxing and can ‘absolutely’ beat UFC star, says Khabib’s coach

JAKE PAUL has ‘so many advantages’ over Conor McGregor in a boxing match and can ‘absolutely’ beat him. That is the view of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s trainer Javier Mendez, who coached the UFC legend to a win over McGregor in 2018.

Floyd Mayweather beat Conor McGregor in 2017
Paul, who is unbeaten at 4-0, has continued to call out the Irishman, who lost his boxing debut to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
But also on his recent ‘hit-list’ of opponents was boxing’s pound-for-pound No1 Canelo Alvarez.
Mendez has warned Paul, 24, against ever fighting Canelo, 31, and instead urged him to use his size and experience against McGregor, 33, instead.
He told Betway Insider: “Jake has got so many advantages on Conor.
“Size being one of the big major ones, and the fact that he’s been boxing for three plus years with really good boxing professionals that know what they’re doing.
“So no, he shouldn’t have to fear Conor whatsoever. Instead, he has to fear people like Canelo.

“He would just smash him in one round, it would be embarrassing.
“He hasn’t got a chance against those kinds of guys, he really should stay away from him – but against Conor, absolutely he has a chance.”
Paul beat online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ on his debut before knocking out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.
But his biggest win to date came in August against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, over the eight round distance.
McGregor is yet to return to the ring since defeat to Mayweather, 44, despite failed talks to fight the now-retired Manny Pacquiao, 42, late last year.
Paul has an almost THREE STONE weight advantage, has three inches of height over the former UFC champ and has more in-ring experience.
He hasn’t got a chance against those kinds of guys, he really should stay away from him – but against Conor, absolutely he has a chance.Khabib’s coach urges Jake Paul to fight Conor McGregor not Canelo
Mendez has seen the YouTuber’s secret sparring and training sessions and believes beating McGregor is more than achievable.
He explained: “Looking at the two, Jake’s got big advantages in size and power.
“Yes, he doesn’t have fight experience but he’s been strictly just boxing for a long time now. Conor’s not been strictly boxing.
“I have first-hand knowledge of seeing Jake do his stuff.
“I have videos that his coaches were sending me and I have had words with the people that he was sparring with.

“The guy’s legit, he’s the real deal. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not a top level guy.
“You can’t be top level with three pro fights – but he has skills and he has power and he has great coaching, he really does.
“And he’s a good athlete so combine all those together and he’s gaining momentum.”

And he even claimed to have taken money out of his own purse from his last fight to contribute to increasing the money given to undercard fighters.
Bellator welterweight MVP admitted it is no wonder ex-MMA champions are crossing over to the boxing ring in search of a bigger payday.
He told Sky Sports: “Yeah, I’m a massive supporter of what he’s doing there, and I completely agree with him on that side.
“Why is it that fighters are so eager to then jump ship? It’s because we’re not being paid what we should be paid in our thing
“This is why he’s completely right. Nobody would entertain these kind of fights, if we were being treated the way we should be treated.”
Paul, 24, won his professional debut against online rival ‘AnEsonGib in January and 11 months later knocked out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37.

His last two fights have been against former UFC fighters Ben Askren, 37, which ended in another KO and a points decision over Tyron Woodley, 39.
Venom Page, 34, who is 2-0 as a boxer, tipped Woodley to beat Paul and is now ready to instead get the job done himself.
He said: “These kind of stuff is it’s annoying, I get why it’s happening. Obviously, business-wise, a lot of money that’s drawn in.
“But, I thought Tyron Woodley was going to correct this whole crazy world that we’re living in right now.
“Just to correct the world, I would definitely jump in and just knock him out, shake his hand afterwards and say, ‘Continue doing what you’re doing.’
“Yeah, I just need to prove to everyone that this is nonsense.”
I would definitely jump in and just knock him out, shake his hand afterwards and say, ‘Continue doing what you’re doing.’ Michael Venom Page on Jake Paul
Venom Page is unbeaten in his last five MMA fights, losing just once in his career, against Douglas Lima in 2019.
He now rematches Lima, 33, on Friday and has the chance to avenge the loss in front of his home crowd at Wembley Arena in London.
Venom Page said: “It’s been two years, so I’m definitely excited I think it’s amazing that it’s actually happening, I’ve got it in the hometown.
“I feel a lot of my supporters were with me on this journey, When I lost that fight, it hurt them just as much.
“And now they have the ability to come and witness the redemption.”

It has seen Silva, 46, beat ex-boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez, 35, and knock out fellow MMA legend Tito Ortiz, 46.
Now, he has faced calls from fans to fight Mayweather, 44, who recently faced YouTuber Logan, 26, in an exhibition bout.
Silva told The MMA Hour: “When I finished the fight with Tito and I saw on my Twitter and my Instagram, everybody talking, ‘You need to fight with Mayweather!’
“I don’t know, that’s insane. I don’t know if I can fight on the same level as Mayweather but this is a challenge for me.
“I don’t know, maybe this happens or not. I’m prepared for that. I just try to do my best everyday and I think this is a good fight, me and Mayweather.
“Two big names and a different level. I go try to prove why I’m there to fight with Mayweather.

Mayweather officially retired as a professional in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 33, in ten rounds.
But only this June he returned for an exhibition bout against Logan , 26, which ended without a winner after no KO was scored.
Mayweather had no problems in giving away TWO STONE to Paul, who later survived all eight rounds.
And Silva admitted he would take a similar size advantage in against the boxing legend.
He said: “I’m too big, but Mayweather fought with Logan Paul and I can fight, too.
“I can [weigh] 189, 190 [pounds] and fight Mayweather. Let’s go see.
“Of course this fight were to happen, it’s a show fight, not a real fight, but I think that’s good. Let’s go see.”
Silva has been in talks to fight Logan before but more recently was considered as an opponent for brother Jake’s next fight.
People need to respect them both, because both kids are doing something special. Anderson Silva on Jake and Logan Paul
Jake, 24, recently beat ex-UFC champ Tyron Woodley, 39, on points to improve his record to 4-0.
And Silva is still among the four names in the running to face the social media sensation.
He said: “A lot of people are talking about that. I’m just waiting. I’m preparing my mind.
“I’m preparing my body. I train everyday with my coaches to do my best. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Despite being linked with both Paul brothers, Silva admitted he has nothing against the internet sensations.
He said: “I respect both kids. Because the kids are so smart, but I prefer to stay on my side training hard and don’t say something about the kids.
“Because the kids are doing a good job. People need to respect them both, because both kids are doing something special.
“The kids prove this world has changed.”
