Man Utd’s Ronaldo naps five times a day, while Dwayne Johnson snoozes for four hours… how much sports stars sleep

BEING one of the most well known sporting icons on the planet is tiring work. But rather than sleep all night, Cristiano Ronaldo instead takes FIVE naps a day while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson snoozes for just four hours to keep himself going.
    Cristiano Ronaldo takes FIVE naps-a-day
Last year, it emerged Man Utd superstar Ronaldo, 36, grabs 40 winks five times each day and sleeps in the foetal position.
And here SunSport can reveal the different sleep patterns of several other sporting icons from across the globe and how many hours of ‘Zzz’ time they get, according to Online Mattress Review.

The WWE icon turned movie star hits the sack for just four hours-a-night.
At 49, Hawaiian born Johnson clocks off between midnight and is up and about again at 4am.
Presumably to work out at least 25 times a day to maintain his impressive physique.
    Muhammad Ali – 6.5 hours
Muhammad Ali was a religious man and slept for 6.5 hours after dinner and prayers

The greatest boxer of all time put many opponents to sleep in his time and would wind down between 10pm and 4:30am.
As a devout Muslim, much of his time would be split between prayer and training.
And his evening routine would include a walk after dinner, a quick wash, prayers and short stint in front of the TV before he dozed off.
    Serena Williams – 7 hours

Serena Williams clocks up a solid seven hours of sleep after socialising and work
You do not need hawk eye to tell when Serena is out for the count but we can neither confirm or deny whether her snoring makes a racket.
The tennis sensation takes a solid seven hour sleep between midnight and 7am each day after a post-dinner routine of socialising and work.
The 39-year-old former world number one is also a mum of a young daughter so her slumbers are no doubt interrupted by the littl’un every now and then.

    Cristiano Ronaldo – 7.5 hours
Ronaldo sleeps in the fetal position to stay in top shape aged 36

Ronaldo has perhaps the oddest routine of all the big stars.
Rather than one lump of rest at the end of each day like most of us, Ronnie reportedly prefers to take short naps of an hour-and-a-half each time throughout the day.
After dinner, he relaxes with his friends before a swim at 10pm.
He then takes one of his signature naps until midnight and relaxes until another short burst of sleep from around 3am before waking up for the day.
    Ronda Rousey – 8 hours
MMA star Rousey does not mess around when it comes to getting the right amount of rest

MMA and WWE star Rousey’s routine seems pretty standard.
Eight hours between midnight and 8am.
    Nice and simple.
    Tiger Woods – 8.5 hours
Tiger Woods – perhaps the greatest golfer in history – spends more than a third of his day asleep

Woods is generally considered the best golfer of all time.
And to maintain such high levels, the superstar spends eight and a half hours dreaming of sinking putts and splitting fairways.
He snoozes from 10pm to 6:30am – proving the early birdie really does catch the worm.
    Tom Brady – 9 hours
Tom Brady is widely considered the best quarter-back ever to play American Football and he does not compromise when it comes to rest

Like Woods, Brady is considered the greatest ever in his field.
The former New England Patriots quarter-back is revered in across the world for his sustained and unrivalled talent.
And the 44-year-old – who is still playing for the Tampa Bay Bucacaneers – makes sure he touches down to sleep for nine hours each day between 8:30pm and 5:30am.

    Stephen Curry – 9 hours
NBA star Stephen Curry is one of the longest sleepers on the list with a solid nine hours

Basketball star Stephen Curry is another record breaker who is set to go down in the NBA history books.
The Golden State Warriors point guard is another who does not take rest lightly – opting to hit the hay for nine hours between 11pm and 8am every day.

Jake Paul offered $30m Thanksgiving winner-take-all fight with Vitor Belfort after ex-UFC champ beats Evander Holyfield

JAKE PAUL has been offered a $30million Thanksgiving winner-take-all fight with Vitor Belfort. The announcement was made after ex-UFC champion Belfort beat the returning and ageing Evander Holyfield in one round.

Head of Triller’s Fight Club banner, movie mogul Ryan Kavanaugh, is ready to front the mega-money payday for Paul and even added an extra $5m.
He said: “We at Triller, are agreeing a full pro fight, Vitor versus Jake Paul; 25 million winner-takes-all.
“And we want it on Thanksgiving day at the one-year anniversary, Thanksgiving Saturday.
“Thirty million, winner-takes-all, if Jake says no, we know why.”
Paul, 24, made his debut in January 2020 and stopped online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ in one round.
His next two knockouts wins were then both with Triller, firstly against ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and later Ben Askren, formerly of the UFC.

In late August, Paul improved to 4-0 with the biggest win of his career, a points verdict over eight rounds against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
But it was the first fight in his new deal with US network Showtime, making a return to Triller’s pay-per-view platform difficult.
Belfort, 44, called out the YouTuber after beating Holyfield, 58, in one round of farcical action.
He said: “Hey, Jake Paul, stop running from me, man. I’m going to teach you a lesson.
“You can be my kid, you’re going to meet daddy over here at Triller. Stop running.”

Holyfield was making his return after ten years out and dangerously over the hill.
He announced plans to return last year after old rival Mike Tyson, 55, did so in an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr, 52, which ended in a draw on Triller.
But after talks for a trilogy with Tyson broke down, he agreed to replace Oscar De La Hoya, 48, who pulled out of fighting Belfort with coronavirus.
The California State Athletic Commission refused to license Holyfield, forcing Triller to move to Florida, who had no such issues.
After the loss, the American boxing legend contested the stoppage, as he said: “I think it was a bad call.
“I don’t think the referee should have stopped the fight that quick.” More

UFC legend Vitor Belfort calls to merge boxing and MMA into new sport and challenges Canelo Alvarez to fight

VITOR BELFORT wants to merge boxing and MMA into a new sport – and has challenged Canelo Alvarez to fight under the all-new rules. The Brazilian, who held the UFC light-heavyweight title in 2004, used his boxing and jiujitsu skills to become an accomplished MMA legend.

He left the UFC in 2018 and now returns in a boxing match against heavyweight legend Evander Holyfield, 58, on Saturday night.
But Belfort, officially 1-0 as a boxer after his sole bout in 2006, has a vision to mix his two passions.
It would allow for clinching during a fight, but no MMA strikes such as kicks, elbows or knees as well as prohibited takedowns.
Belfort believes it brings the two sports into one, and sets up more super-crossover fights with stars of the opposing codes combining their rules.
He told SunSport: “The future of combat sports is the merge between these two amazing combat sports.
“Right now, we are boxing under boxing rules, and I accept it. But in the future, I want to mix boxing with the martial arts aspect.

“There’s so many guys out there, you name it, tons of champions and my goal is to merge.
“I want to call it ‘Box Martial Arts’. If they will be courageous enough – I don’t want kicks, I don’t want knees, I don’t want elbows.
“I don’t want it to go to the ground. I just want to be able to box and hold you, to be able to fight in the clinch. I want to see if they can survive that.
“And that’s why I want to merge, I believe I can beat any guy, in any division in boxing with those kind of rules.”
Former UFC champions such as Belfort, 44, Conor McGregor, 33, and Anderson Silva, 46, have all crossed over to the ring before.
But boxers heading into the cage has been far more limited, with James Toney, 53, and Claressa Shields, 26, the two most high profile.
Belfort believes his all-new merger would allow for a more even playing field, and gives MMA fighters added freedom in the ring.
The future of combat sports is the merge between these two amazing combat sports. Vitor Belfort
He said: “It’s like literally bringing what I’ve been working my whole life for, evolving boxing into my sport.
“It’s called boxing-martial arts. Boxing has so many rules, you can’t do this, you can’t do that, so I want to see if a boxer can box with me with these kind of rules.
“I call it evening the ground a little, not with kicking, with punches and that’s where I challenge anyone, anyone in the whole entire boxing world.”
Belfort is convinced his masterplan is revolutionary and wants to put it to the test against boxing’s current top attraction Canelo.
He said: “It’s going to be like discovering gold, we have so many good guys out there.
“Canelo is one, champions versus champions, legends versus legends.”

Tyron Woodley ‘looked like a sack of s***’ in ‘very embarrassing’ loss to YouTuber Jake Paul, says ex-UFC star Dan Hardy

TYRON WOODLEY ‘looked like a sack of s***’ in his ‘very embarrassing’ loss to YouTuber Jake Paul, ex-UFC title challenger Dan Hardy said.Woodley was beaten by Paul on points after eight rounds despite having the social media star hurt in round four after sending him into the ropes.

It ended months of trash talk and build up between the pair, which included a spat at a press conference where Woodley’s mother was involved.
But after the former UFC champion suffered defeat, Hardy hit out at the American with a brutal assesement.
He told Submission Radio: “He looked like a sack of s*** the other week.
“That was very embarrassing. The reason I’m annoyed about it, is that he validated exactly what I thought was gonna happen, and I expected more from him.
“Like dude, you’re nearly 40, you’re rap game’s not going anywhere, you’re MMA career’s done, you’ve got a guy in front of you that’s been trashing your mum, that’s been talking a whole heap of nonsense for how many months?
“And you’ve got eight rounds to punch him in the face and you’re already half punching him through the ropes, and then you don’t put your foot on the gas because you’re afraid of being vulnerable?

“That just looks weak to me. It looks weak and it wastes people’s money.”
Paul, 24, moved to 4-0 in his career and added to his wins over online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.
Former champ Woodley, 39, left the UFC after four consecutive losses, without a win in three years, with his run of defeats stretching over to the boxing ring.
Hardy, 39, said: “I love all these weird and wonderful fights, but that’s when it runs out of steam.
“Like, that’s when the fire burns out, is when people tune in and they see that s***show and they go, ‘Oh, I won’t get it next time, because I’ll expect the same thing’.
“I’d rather watch Askren get knocked out again than watch that. And Askren wasn’t there to win, we all know that.
“I think what’s even worse is that Woodley was there to win and he didn’t try.

“And that must burn him. That was burning him in the post-fight interview.
“He could barely contain himself without calling him out before he finished his interview.

Evander Holyfield’s comeback aged 58 ‘shouldn’t be happening’ as concerning training clip shows, says Michael Bisping

MICHAEL BISPING warned Evander Holyfield’s comeback fight aged 58 ‘shouldn’t be happening’ as concerning training footage showed. The heavyweight legend is set to come out of retirement ten years after last lacing up the gloves to face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.

But Holyfield has already left fans in fear following footage of his open workout on the pads.
The American – known as the ‘Real Deal’ during his heydey – was barely able to throw a body shot and looked painfully slow.
Former UFC champ Bisping was among several to voice his concern in Holyfield’s return to the ring.
He tweeted: “Fighters by nature are brave, that’s why managers, coaches and commissions are there to protect them from themselves.
    “This fight shouldn’t be happening.”
Holyfield, who won titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight, is one of the most celebrated fighters in boxing history.

But he has not been champ since 2001 and retired after beating Brian Nielsen in 2011.
He last year announced plans to make a comeback after his iconic rival Mike Tyson, 55, did the same thing.
Holyfield, who twice beat Tyson – with their second being the rematch where his ear was infamously bitten – entered talks for a trilogy.
But with negotiations collapsing, he continued to train with the view of a new opponent.
After Oscar De La Hoya, 48, was forced to withdraw from fighting Belfort, 44, with coronavirus, Holyfield agreed to replace him.
The fight was forced to move to Florida after the California comission refused to licence Holyfield amid safety fears.
And now he will face Belfort over eight rounds, but consisted over two minutes not the typical three.

After the ex-UFC champion was beaten on points, he immediately called for a rematch in the ring which was accepted, so long as the tattoo wager was fulfilled.
As a result, Woodley is now awaiting a contract for a second fight with Paul before going ahead with the tattoo.
He said on Instagram Live:“That tattoo situation, the original bet was the loser gets the tattoo.
“In the ring, a new bet was presented that, in my opinion, superseded the previous bet.
“That bet said if you get the tattoo then we can run it back. We both said ‘Bet’ and we shook hands.
“So that’s a bet I’m trying to facilitate and the rematch has to happen. If we get the paperwork, of course.

“You motherf***ers have some dumbass tattoos on your bodies. Hella-dumb.
“For a nice bag, there’s nobody on this live that would tell me they would never do that.”
Paul, 24, moved to 4-0 in his poloarising boxing career after what proved to be his biggest win to date.
Britain’s Tommy Fury, 22, brother to world champion Tyson and star of Love Island in 2019, is the social media star’s preferred next opponent.
Fury beat Paul’s sparring partner on his undercard to build towards a fight of their own.

But Woodley, 39, is still holding out for a rematch and remains confident there can be up to three fights.
He said: “It’s all part of the story. This wouldn’t have been a trilogy.
“I’m gonna f*** him up and then his pride’s gonna kick in and we’re gonna do it again and it’s gonna literally be a whole movie that people talk about for a very long time.”

The YouTuber, 24, outpointed the UFC legend in their clash in Ohio last week, but he was made to work to stay unbeaten.
Paul was sent against the ropes in the fourth round of their contest following a huge right hand by the former weltwerweight champion.
The ex-Disney star was stunned as he fell back into the ropes as he survived an onslaught from his 39-year-old opponent.
And that wasn’t the only punch Paul had to eat during that round, as Woodley landed a mean left hook flush on his chin.
Showtime Boxing shared slow-motion footage of the punch, with Paul somehow staying on his feet.
Fans were left disappointed with Woodley for not following up with the hook after Paul was clearly hurt.

One supporter tweeted: “Woodley you smacked him with a left and he dropped both hands and you didn’t hit him with a right. You gotta double up in boxing. You had the WIN right there my friend.”
Another said: “If he followed that up with a right he would have dropped him.”
A third added: “An experienced boxer would have hit him with a straight right immediately after.”
Though one fan praised Paul’s toughness, as he simply stated: “Credit where credit is due, Paul has a good chin.”
Meanwhile another remarked: “Oh s***, Jake Paul is legit.”
Following Paul’s victory, UFC icon Anderson Silva has claimed he is willing to be the next MMA fighter to take on the Problem Child after Ben Askren and Woodley.
The 46-year-old told TMZ Sports: “My goal is my last fight is 49 [years old]. 49, I’m done. Probably, I’m done. That is my goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo told UFC star pal Khabib he left Juventus for Man Utd because he was ‘BORED’ in Italy

CRISTIANO RONALDO told UFC pal Khabib Nurmagomedov he left Juventus for Manchester United as he was “bored in Italy”.The MMA legend says Ronaldo added he “wanted to go back to England” and Khabib knew it would happen a MONTH before it was finalised.
Khabib claims he knew a month ago Ronaldo would move back to England, with Man Utd the predictable destinationCredit: Instagram / @cristiano
Ron’s deadline-week move shocked football as he was linked to PSG and then Manchester City before old club United pounced.
But Khabib, who was UFC’s longest-running lightweight champ, was far from surprised.
He told Sport24:  “I don’t want to disclose any personal messages… Ronaldo said he was bored in Italy and wanted to go back to England.
“I’m also not a fan of Italian football, [but] the English Premier League I won’t switch over. Any team there can put on a show.”
The Russian also believes Portugal attacker Ronaldo, 36, is far “cooler” than 34-year-old GOAT rival Lionel Messi.
Argentina wizard Messi joined PSG from Barcelona last month, days before Ron was also said to be interesting the French big-spenders.

And although many would love to have seen the all-time greats paired together, Khabib believes Ron is out on his own – not just for pure ability.
The retired cage fighter, 32, said: “Cristiano has been at the top for 17 years.
“In 2004 he was in the final at the European Championship, and now it’s 2021 and he’s still scoring.
“There’s never been a phenomenon like that in football… I think Messi’s been at his peak for about 12 years, and Cristiano 17.
“In my opinion, Ronaldo is cooler…. Cristiano is much cooler, I think.

“Messi is one of the best in history. But if in the game they’re equal, then in charisma Cristiano is more powerful.”
Ronaldo is now eyeing his second United debut when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third-placed side host winless Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.
And last week Khabib revealed to RT: “A month ago, he told me he was moving to United.
“I expected this deal to take place. I think that United is more suitable for him than Juventus.”
