      BOXING icon Butterbean is eyeing up a sensational return against YouTuber Jake Paul.The heavyweight star – real name Eric Esch – has not fought professionally since a 2013 defeat to Kirk Lawton.

      But the 55-year-old claims he is in the “best shape of his life” and is eager to step back into the ring.
      Butterbean fought more than 90 times during a nearly two-decade career and also competed in MMA and kickboxing.
      He achieved legendary status amongst the boxing community for his knockout power and left 58 of his opponents on the canvas.
      Now he is reportedly planning a boxing return after training with WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page.

      And Paul – who is 5-0 after beating Tyrone Woodley in December last year – is firmly in Esch’s crosshairs.
      Butterbean said: “I’m working with [Diamond Dallas Page] to get up walking and running around again and I’m feeling the best shape I ever have.
      “I’m at fight weight. You’ll have to listen to my podcast coming up to find exactly how much weight I have lost, but I haven’t weighed this in over 20 years so that’ll give you an idea.
      “The big announcement is I’m going to fight one last fight. It’s going to be one year from now.

      Butterbean usually clocks the scales at around 378lb, which is almost 200LBS more than Paul weighed in for his rematch against Woodley.
      Jake is rarely out of the spotlight and was recently mocked by soccer fans after he posted a clip of him taking a terrible penalty ahead of the Champions League final.
      While promoter Eddie Hearn has joked he cannot wait until someone “chins” Paul with the YouTuber-turned-boxer yet to taste defeat inside the squared circle.
      And Paul’s rival KSI has declared “I am the greatest YouTube boxer” ahead of his return to the ring on August 27.

      But unlike his grandfather, Ali Walsh has not pursued a career in professional boxing.
      Instead he features on the undercard of the FITE MMA event in Montana.
      The coronavirus pandemic has delayed Ali Walsh’s MMA debut, but he has spent the last two years training in anticipation of his first bout.

      He said: “There is no balance between modelling and training because I am rarely ever modelling.
      “My last modelling job was in 2020 so those type of gigs do not happen so often.
      “I am solely focused on finishing college and getting better in the gym.
      “If a paid modelling job were to come up, I want to make sure it works around my school and gym.”
      Hailing from the same family as one of boxing’s greatest ever fighters, Ali Walsh says his striking ability is one of his strong points.
      He revealed: “I would say that growing up in the world of boxing would make me a striker but I do find myself pretty well-rounded.

      UFC boss Dana White rules out entering ‘broken’ boxing world as sport is a ‘nightmare to try to fix’

      UFC supremo Dana White has seeming permanently shelved plans to make inroads into boxing.The veteran promoter set his sights on making waves in the sport after co-promoting Conor McGregor’s blockbuster showdown with Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.

      White went on to set up Zuffa Boxing in 2019 but has appeared to shelve his plans to restructure the sport five years after insisting he was “getting into boxing, 100 per cent.”
      During an appearance on Blockasset’s BLOCK Party, White said: “Every time I try to think about doing something with boxing, I go, ‘Why would I want to do this to myself?’
      “You know what I mean? Why would I even want to dive into this nightmare?
      “That’s why I haven’t really done anything. It’s a broken business that is an absolute nightmare to try to fix.”

      White believes the recent influx of freakshow fights in the sport in recent years is down to promoters not being able to connect with younger fans.
      In December 2020, he said: “The thing has been such a spiral, nose dive for so long, and what they haven’t done, is they haven’t done got any of that young generation, any of that younger crowd.
      “But it’d be crazy to say that these type of fights haven’t been popular anyway.
      “We were just talking the other day about the Tonya Harding fight when she fought, these celebrity fights that they were doing.
      “I think people are always going to be interested in that type of stuff.”
      He added: “It’s gonna require so much time, money, and the whole thing needs to be rebuilt and restructured.

      Meanwhile McGregor, 33, has opened the door to making a boxing return in the future.
      The Irishman, an amateur boxer in his teens, crossed over to the ring in 2017 but lost his professional debut to Floyd Mayweather, 45.

      McGregor was linked with a boxing bout against Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao, 43, in 2021.
      But the idea was scrapped after he was beaten by Dustin Poirier – the man he knocked out in 2014 – in their rematch in Abu Dhabi.
      It set up a trilogy bout which McGregor lost in disastrous fashion after breaking his leg against Poirier, 33, seconds before round one ended.
      The Dubliner has since been recovering after successful surgery last summer and continues to train for a return fight.

      “I have another CT scan in the coming days. Then I’ll be cleared to kick. Once I can kick and grapple, I’ll be back in no time.
      “Boxing training is going well, and strength training. That’s all. I’m excited to get back.”

      But the British boxing legend confirmed he would still fight in crossover spectacles and challenged UFC champion Ngannou, 35.
      Fury, 33, called for a boxing bout with slammer 4oz MMA gloves on.
      But Aspinall wants to see the two codes collide with kicking and clinching involved.
