LEWIS HAMILTON is revved up for the British GP after ending his podum drought with a third-place finish in Canada.The F1 veteran, 37, came into this weekend nursing a bad back after being bashed up in Baku by his bouncing Mercedes.

“That’s been the most difficult thing this year – really trying to optimise the set up.
“And when you have not been on the podium for a long time, it was also special as I had my first win here 15 years ago.
“To experience the energy from the crowd was very reminiscent of that first year, I am so happy with it.

Verstappen said: “The safety car didn’t help. Overall Ferrari were very quick in the race, so it would have been tough for me to close the gap, even on fresh tyres.
“It was exciting at the end and I gave it everything I had.”

Meanwhile, Sainz, who was second, said: “I was pushing flat-out. I wasn’t leaving any inches. I was pushing very hard to pass Max but we just didn’t have enough pace.
“The positive thing is we were faster but needed a little more to overtake around here.

Speaking after qualifying about the various issues, Wolff said: “This situation has clearly gone too far.
“Team principals trying to play political games is disingenuous. All of the cars, not just Mercedes, suffered in some way in Baku.
“It’s a fault in Formula One at the moment and it’s an issue that needs to be solved.
“Little manipulations in the background, Chinese whispers, it’s a bit difficult.”

LEWIS HAMILTON has revealed he feels like he’s SHRUNK as a result of bouncing around in his new Mercedes car. In a bid to counteract the ‘porpoising’, Mercedes lowered the ride height of their car at last week’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

However, this led to Hamilton’s car bouncing erratically off the surface of the track, creating vertical g-forces of up to 10G and causing significant pain to his back.
This could be seen as he stepped out of his car following the race, with the 37-year-old clearly in some distress clutching his back and casting doubt over his participation at the Canadian Grand Prix.
F1’s governing body, the FIA, stepped in with a technical directive to try and fix the problem and protect drivers, but this has not helped Mercedes at all and the problem has remained.
On the bouncing, Hamilton said: “In terms of micro-concussions, I’ve certainly had a lot more headaches in recent months.

“But I haven’t seen a specialist on it and just took painkillers. So hopefully I don’t have a concussion.

Hamilton hit out at the car as he experienced another difficult day behind the wheel of his Mercedes, which has failed to compete with Red Bull and Ferrari throughout the season.
He added that the team should instead focus on building a better car for next year.
After calling the car “undriveable” over team radio, he said: “We were trying lots of different things and an experimental floor on my side, which didn’t work. Nothing we do with this car seems to work.
“George [Russell] went with a much different setup in FP2 just to see if one ways works and one way doesn’t.

The sport’s governing body, the FIA, have responded and say they will investigate what is causing some of this year’s cars to bounce up and down violently when the cars hit top speed.
However, the consequence could be bad news for Hamilton and Russell, as the FIA may impose strict rules to improve driver safety – which also may SLOW their car.

That enabled her to race in the GT4 European Series in 2015, as well as 2018’s gruelling 24 Hours of Nurburgring, which is recognised along with Le Mans as one of the toughest in the world.
As of 2019, Naomi’s been part of the W Series, who she is also diversity and inclusion ambassador for, and was a reserve last season.
Foray into presenting
Back in February, F1 fans might have caught a glimpse of Naomi introducing the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team car launch alongside F1 pit reporter Natalie Pinkham.
Then in March, she appeared as a co-host of new Sky Sports F1 show Any Driven Monday, which can be streamed on YouTube.
However, one troll questioned whether she was the right person to give her opinion.
The troll wrote: “Meet Naomi Schiff, Sky Sports latest Formula 1 commentator. Can you guess what her main qualification for the job is? Hint: It isn’t Formula 1 experience.”
In response Schiff posted three yawning emojis to highlight her boredom at receiving such abuse.
Fighting her corner
Lewis Hamilton was the first to defend Naomi’s corner.
The seven-time champion took to Twitter and voiced his displeasure at the tweet.

The new regulations for the 2022 season have been difficult for many teams to get to grips with.
And Mercedes, who finished third and fourth last weekend, recently made noises to the FIA – F1’s governing body – about a potential rule change which would allow them to adjust the ride height of the cars.
But Brundle feels it is something the reigning constructors champions need to sort on their own.
