LEWIS HAMILTON has shut down retirement rumours amid his struggles this season.The seven-time Formula 1 world champion is sixth in the driver standings going into this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

The W13’s porpoising issues continued last time out in Monaco, with Hamilton showing his frustration during practice by saying over the radio: “It is so bouncy out here, mate. I am f***ing losing my mind.”
Despite his gripes, Hamilton accepts that engineers are working as hard as they can to fix the problem, saying: “I know that work is going on tirelessly in the factory to make progress with the car.
“And I have no doubt we will get it right sooner or later.”

Hamilton will now test Ben Sulayem’s resolve at the Monaco GP in a pathetic row that has made the FIA look ridiculous.
The decision will be made by F1 race director Niels Wittich, who has previously said: “The wearing of jewellery during this competition can hinder both medical interventions as well as subsequent diagnosis and treatment should it be required following an accident.
“The presence of jewellery can slow, due to the risk of “snagging”, the emergency removal of driver safety equipment such as helmet, balaclava and overalls.
“The wearing of jewellery in the form of body piercing or metal neck chains is prohibited during the competition and may therefor be checked before the start.”
