England vs Brazil: Three Lions prepare for Euro 2024 with a tough test against five-time World Cup winners – stream FREE

ENGLAND are all set to participate in two thrilling friendlies as they prepare for the highly-anticipated Euro 2024 this summer – and first up is a battle with Brazil. The Three Lions stormed to qualification by finishing top of Group C without losing a single game.England beat Italy 3-1 to qualify for the Euro 2024Credit: GettyBrazil star Richarlison could lead the line for BrazilCredit: ReutersAnd it is a campaign that Harry Kane will never forget as his strike against bitter rivals Italy saw him become England’s all-time record goalscorer. But the English skipper’s chances of adding to his tally are in jeopardy after Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Kane twisted his ankle during Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt. This would also see Gareth Southgate being forced to wait a little longer before seeing his preferred starting eleven ahead of the upcoming Euros. However, given Brazil’s recent form – losing their last three consecutive games – the England gaffer should feel that he has enough to get through this test without Kane. There is also the possibility that three players could receive their Three Lions debuts.Uncapped trio Anthony Gordon, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ezri Konsa have all been included in Southgate’s squad. It also remains to be seen who will line up alongside Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham in midfield, while spots at left-back and centre-half are also up for grabs.Phil Foden is expected to battle it out with Marcus Rashford, Jarrod Bowen and Cole Palmer for the final spot in the forward line next to Kane and Bukayo Saka. Most read in FootballCASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERSAnd Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney have both been included in the squad – with it yet unclear who will be Kane’s deputy at the Euros. Here is all you need to know ahead of the clash.Gareth Southgate drops Kobbie Mainoo Euro 2024 hint as England boss names four players on cusp of breaking into squad What is their form like?England have won eight of their 10 games since being knocked out of the World Cup by France in 2022.Their only dropped points came in Euro qualifying as they drew 1-1 with both Ukraine and North Macedonia.Meanwhile, Brazil’s three losses on the bounce have come against Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina. They have also scored just one goal in that run, conceding five. What is the team news and any injuries to worry about?Gareth Southgate recalled Ivan Toney and Joe Gomez along with handing call-ups to two shock names.

Now he can just go for it and be himself.”He knows exactly what we think of him. A good version of him is an important player for us. We don’t have many players of that profile.”And discussing Henderson’s, he added: “The influence that he can have on a game still – he’s clearly not a 24-year-old Hendo. But to win football matches, you need a lot of different characteristics.”He’s desperate to remain part of this and, for us, at this moment in time he can still play a valuable role.”Meanwhile, Brazil boss Dorival Junior said: “From a preliminary list of 50 names, 13 had already been ruled out by injury at their clubs.”Unfortunately, we also lost Casemiro. The final whistle goes, and – despite a late Newcastle flourish – Chelsea hang on for all three points.
You’ll do well to watch a stranger game of football this season, although perhaps it’s quite fitting.
Five superb goals highlighted the talent in these two expensively-assembled squads, but the sloppiness of play on display said much more about the inconsistency and lack of confidence that has hampered their season.
The result takes the Blues within a point of their opponents, but the upshot remains that both clubs are heading for a mid-table finish this term. More will be expected the next time they meet.

90+5. Mudryk has been a bundle of energy since his introduction, and he may well have just sealed the game for Chelsea – aside from scoring the decisive goal – by winning a free-kick high up the pitch.
The Ukrainian leaps on to a one-two, and goes down under the challenge of Joe White, a misdemeanour that earns the youngster a very harsh yellow card.
    That should be that.

90+2. Out of nowhere, it’s nervy times for Chelsea, who have retreated into a low block, content to break the remainder of the game up with a series of fouls and free-kicks.

    90. On a night of brilliant goals, this is the best of the lot.
Jacob Murphy shrugs off the feeble challenge of Marc Cucurella by rolling away from him and bursts into the penalty area.
With the angle against him, the Newcastle substitute unleashes an absolute rocket of a shot that soars into the roof of the net via the crossbar, beating the stunned Djordje Petrovic at his near post.
Newcastle are not done yet, and there will be six minutes of stoppage time to play.

Supporters are already thinking about their plans for the week, and whether the shops will still be open on the way home.

    84. Mudryk goes fast and direct again, powering his way to the right byline and thumping a cross into the chest of Dubravka.
It’s impressive if a little aimless from the Ukrainian, who takes a sore one as his momentum carries him crashing into the advertising hoardings.

    82. The visitors continue to plug away, and Isak almost gets on the end of a hopeful delivery from the right.
However, Newcastle’s injuries – particularly in attack – are once again being highlighted with the lack of options available to support their tiring striker obvious.

    76. Three goals for Chelsea – and it should mean three points too!
Yet again – in what has been a largely unforgettable and sloppy game – it’s a goal of the highest quality.
Nicolas Jackson spearheads the attack on the left, eventually moving the ball to Mykhailo Mudryk on the charge though the middle.
The substitute barely breaks pace as he nips the ball through the legs of Sven Botman, dribbles around the lacklustre Martin Dubravka and steers into the empty net despite Emil Krafth’s last-ditch attempt to clear.
It’s the Ukrainian’s fourth Premier League goal of the season, and his first of 2024.

    73. Enzo Fernandez attempts to take out Tino Livramento and misses.
No bother thinks Moises Caicedo, who duly obliges in flattening the right-back and receives a yellow card.
Finally, the Chelsea midfield partnership is beginning to flourish.

    71. The Chelsea goalkeeper goes into the book for time wasting.
I wonder if referee John Brooks had to check whether his name is Petrovic or Petkovic like I have to every time he merits a mention.

It’s one of two changes made by the visitors with Emil Krafth and Elliot Anderson both introduced into the action.
Miguel Almiron joins Burn in making way for the new arrivals.

    67. Gordon header! Wide!
Murphy clips the free-kick across, and the Newcastle defender gets up high above Disasi to nod just past the near post.
However, Burn hasn’t picked himself back up off the floor, having landed very awkwardly. The Newcastle physios are on once more.

    65. Newcastle win a free-kick deep inside the Chelsea half, out on the right.
It’s fair to say that the majority of Newcastle’s most threatening moments tonight have come from set-plays.
