Man Utd’s Paul Pogba hits back at critics in passionate message saying he’s fully committed to club

PAUL POGBA has issued a passionate statement outlining his commitment to Manchester United.
The French midfielder, 27, has been subject to criticism from the likes of Red Devils legend Roy Keane and Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.

And Keane tore into the World Cup winner after his display in Saturday’s Manchester derby that ended in a bore draw.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has suggested that his client’s future belongs away from Old Trafford.
But in a message on Instagram, Pogba fired back at those who questioned whether his heart was in it anymore.
“I’ve always fought and will always fight for Manchester United, my team-mates and the fans,” Pogba wrote on Instagram after the Manchester City game. “Bla bla is not important.

“The future is far, today is what matters and I am 1000 per cent involved!
“Always strong together… all has been clear between the club and myself and that will never change.
“When you don’t know what’s going on inside, don’t talk”
Speaking on Sky Sports, former United hardman Keane said he believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should sell Pogba.

“If you think Pogba’s going to get Manchester United winning titles and challenging?’ Keane told Sky Sports.
“You keep saying he’s talented but that’s not good without desire or work rate. The guy doesn’t want to run.
“I’m not interested in France, I don’t watch the French games. I’m on about Manchester United and your eyes don’t lie to you. This idea that he wants to be loved?
“His job is to make other people better. That’s his job when you bring him to the club. I remember when he signed I thought it was a great signing but it’s not worked out.
“He can make the team better. De Bruyne, he makes the other players around him better that’s what you’re there for, to big presence at the club. It’s straightforward.
“There comes a point where United have to say now. It’s no big deal players have wanted to leave United before, David Beckham wanted to leave, Peter Schmeichel wanted to leave and these are all legends of the club.
“Pogba wants to leave? Let him go get a few bob in January or the summer, no big deal. If he leaves again Man Utd will survive, trust me.”
While Gary Neville echoed Keane’s statement – saying United should never buy a player who is looked after by Raiola again.

Mino Raiola has said Pogba’s future lies elsewhere
Neville said: “Paul Pogba is simply the biggest signing, he’s a world champion, won all those trophies at Juventus and there’s a large expectation around him.
“However, I can accept a player of that level not playing well. I can accept them even being a little bit down but it’s quite categoric his agent, his best friend has tried to get him out of this football club for the last 16 months.
“Whether he’s been loved or not he doesn’t want to be here. You’ve got to find an exit for him, I’m not having a go at him but he doesn’t want to play for Man United he wants to play for Real Madrid, Barca or another club of that ilk.
“They can’t sign another player with that agent (Raiola), enough is enough.”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also believes United would be better off without Pogba when quizzed about the situation on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show.
“Get rid, I’ve been saying this for 12 months – oh my God, the most overrated player I’ve ever seen in my life!,” he replied.

Gary Neville has said Manchester United should never buy a player represented by Raiola againCredit: Sky Sports

“I think the two of them [Raiola and Pogba] are a disgrace.
“We’ll all look at the agent now and say: “Ask Pogba what does he think” – agents in this day and age are not just agents, they’re a parent, they’re their best friend, they’re a financial adviser, they book holidays, they go away with each other.
“Those two will be like that (crossed fingers), he’ll be Pogba’s best mate. So Pogba will be well aware of what was going to come out of his mouth, and if he wasn’t, he should sack his agent.”

Chelsea target Matthew Bondswell snubbed Man Utd before move to RB Leipzig and was a track and field star at school

PREMIER LEAGUE giants Chelsea and West Ham are believed to be keen on bringing Matthew Bondswell back to England.
The Three Lions U18 star moved to RB Leipzig in 2018 after coming through the ranks at Nottingham Forest.

Instead of signing a pro-deal with his boyhood club, he decided to embark on a new challenge in search for first-team football in Germany – reportedly snubbing a move to Manchester United.
And this season, during a loan spell with second division Dutch side FC Dordrecht, the 18-year-old left-back has shown why he’s so highly-rated.
However, he could’ve been competing in a different sport if his football career hadn’t blossomed.
    ATHLETICS WAS HIS CALLING
Naturally fit, Bondswell was a whiz at athletics at West Bridgford School.

He won two gold medals at the Midlands Schools County Championships, and followed that up with gold at the English School’s National Athletics Championships in Gateshead in 2016.
An all-round athlete, when he participated in the Junior Boys triple jump he leapt a massive 12.93m to become British Junior Champion.
Bondswell also represented Nottinghamshire Schools at the 200m.
But it was football, in which he has represented England at Under 15, 16, 17 and 18s level, that was his biggest passion.

    FOREST AS A BOY
Before he showed prowess in track and field, Bondswell was already on Nottingham Forest’s books.
He joined the Championship side at the age of eight and quickly progressed through the ranks.
The defender impressed rival coaches too, and was said to have been a target for Manchester United and Liverpool at 15.
However, with a heavy heart, Bondswell made the gamble to sign a professional contract with RB Leipzig in 2018 – buoyed by the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ademola Lookman’s progress overseas.

    A BRIT ABROAD
Bondswell is yet to make his debut for Leipzig, but has enjoyed success at U16 and U17 level with the club.
Understanding his need for first team football, he was sent on a season-long loan to FC Dordrecht, who play in the second tier of the Dutch league.

He made his professional debut back in August against Go Ahead Eagles in a 0-0 draw, and has now played seven games in all competitions.
Leipzig’s initial plan was to send Bondswell out on loan, and then bring him back next season to fight it out for a first team spot, should he impress.
However, now they could be in for a nice pay day – if they want to sell him, of course.

Cavani had Man Utd fans raging by tying his laces AFTER being substituted at half-time but became hero with double

EDINSON CAVANI redeemed himself by scoring twice in Manchester United’s 3-2 win at Southampton having earlier had fans fuming.
At half-time, Red Devil supporters were raging because he wasn’t ready to be subbed on.

The Uruguayan international replaced misfiring Mason Greenwood at the break, and was waiting patiently on the touchline before the second half could commence.
However, he had a problem with his footwear before he was introduced – forcing a trainer to run into the changing room and get a new pair of boots for him.
Then, with the second half underway he was seen lacing his new pair as the game began.
United played the first 26 seconds of the second half with 10 men, as Cavani was lacing up.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer was far from impressed, saying after the game: “You have to be ready as a sub. I know everything about that.”
And football fans around the globe fumed and poked fun at the 33-year-old for taking an eternity to make his entrance.
Silly Lukasz wrote: The state of our season has been quite well summed up by the fact that Edinson Cavani must have known for the whole of half time that he was coming on yet still missed the start because he didn’t have his boots on.
Mo Licker tweeted: “Keane going to love Cavani lace incident.”

While Pauly Kwestel joked: When people tell me Cavani will bring veteran experience to this United I’ll always remember how United played the first 26 seconds of the 2nd half with 10 men because Cavani wasn’t ready and was still doing his laces.”

Not Cavani taking a whole 34 seconds to lace his boots while on the pitch, then instantly being our best player…
    — Tyler Caton (@_tbc_2350) November 29, 2020

Unreal. That episode of cavani doing his laces up is possibly the final straw

Still, Cavani had the last laugh and eventually was the hero for the Red Devils.
He had an instant impact, assisting Bruno Fernandes to get United back into a game they were trailing 2-0 at half-time.
Cavani scored the equaliser, then netted an injury-time winner to send United fans wild.

Man Utd ratings: Cavani gets top marks but De Gea and Fred struggle in comeback win over Southampton

MANCHESTER UNITED produced a stunning comeback to beat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary’s Stadium.
The Red Devils fought back from 2-0 down at the break and clinched victory with a dramatic late Edinson Cavani winner.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fell behind to goals from Jan Bednarek and James Ward-Prowse on the south coast.
However, their fortunes changed when Cavani was introduced at half-time.
He provided an assist and two goals, as his performance inspired Solskjaer’s side to an unlikely comeback.
Here’s how SunSport reporter Jordan Davies rated United’s stars.

    DAVID DE GEA – 3
Was not helped by his defenders for the opener, but was at fault once again in the Premier League after flapping at James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick.
Was taken off at half time after picking up a knock in the process and replaced by Dean Henderson, which could prove to be a turning point in his career.

    AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 5
Anonymous in both attack and defence and had little to no impact.
Struggled to deal with the pace of Southampton’s wide players in the first half but somewhat improved in the second with a good cross for Edinson Cavani.

    HARRY MAGUIRE – 6
Met his match in Che Adams, who caused him all sorts of problems with his back to goal in the early stages.
Was amongst the group of players who should have dealt with the near post corner that led to the opening goal.
    VICTOR LINDELOF – 6
Did very little wrong, and in the second half proved to be a better outlet in attack as United pushed to get back in the game.
But like his fellow defenders, struggled to deal with the pace and power the Saints’ front men possess.
    ALEX TELLES – 6
Was pinned back by Southampton’s attack and struggled to have any real influence.
Gave away several silly free kicks and fouls that could have seen Southampton drift even further in front.
    NEMANJA MATIC – 6
Was tasked with protecting the back four but the movement from the likes of Adams and Theo Walcott saw him stretched.
    FRED – 5
Spent most of the game chasing, and copped a lot of criticism from Roy Keane in the Sky Sports studios once more, and rightly so.
Gave away the needless free-kick that handed Ward-Prowse the chance to make it 2-0.

DONNY VAN DE BEEK – 7
After shining in a number 6 role in mid-week in the Champions League, his qualities and creative intelligence was lost as he was shifted out wide.
Was one of the few United players probing and being adventurous on the ball, and his influence was far greater in the second half more central.
    BRUNO FERNANDES – 8
United’s go-to man once more with yet another goal and yet another assist contribution in the second half, teeing up Cavani.
Went close in the first half too after clipping the post with one effort and denied by a brilliant Alex McCarthy save with another.
    MASON GREENWOOD – 4
His first start since early November and it was one to forget. Missed two glorious chances in the first half that would have changed the game.
Was then hauled off at half-time for Edinson Cavani, who ultimately proved to be more effective.
    MARCUS RASHFORD – 6
An off day for the England striker. Looked isolated in the first half and lost his man Bednarek at the corner that saw Saints go ahead.
Had a brilliant chance to play in Cavani for a tap-in in the second half but opted to shoot and missed. Made up for it with an assist for the winner however.
    SUBS
DEAN HENDERSON (FOR DE GEA 45) – 6
Had very little to do on his Prem debut but made a few solid saves early in the half.
Will be hoping this is the start of a prolonged period in goal for United as No.1.
    EDINSON CAVANI (FOR GREENWOOD 45) – 10
The definition of super sub, and saved Man United’s bacon.

Super-sub Cavani was the match-winner for UnitedCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd

Gave United some purpose in attack and gave Rashford a much-needed partner to play off, before turning the game on its head by assisting Bruno for their first after the break.
His natural poaching instincts came into play to grab United’s deserved equaliser, and will have definitely earned himself a starting point after a similar effort for the winner.

Man Utd star Brandon Williams wanted by Southampton in January loan transfer to battle for full-back positions

SOUTHAMPTON are ready to go back in for Brandon Williams in January.
High-flying Saints were keen on a loan move for Manchester United whizkid Williams in the summer.

They were attracted by his ability to play as both a left and right full-back, to provide competition for Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Bertrand.
But Red Devils chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked the switch, despite signing Alex Telles from Porto.

Williams, 20, has since played just two matches this season, with both coming in the EFL Cup.

Southampton would be interested in reviving a possible move when the transfer window opens, particularly with Ryan Bertrand stalling on a new contract.
Though SunSport understands if United were to agree to a move, it would be a loan given how highly they rate the England Under-21 international.
A host of Championship clubs are also keen to borrow Williams, who impressed when breaking into United’s first team last season.
The Manchester lad made 36 appearances for the first team and battled Luke Shaw for a place in the starting XI when both were fit.

Southampton’s hopes of signing Williams will not have been helped by Shaw’s latest injury.

The former Saint is out for at least six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury against Everton earlier this month.
It could mean Williams will be needed as back-up if Shaw doesn’t recover for the New Year.
Saints travel to Wolves tonight and will move up to third with three points.

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants 5-a-side pitch built at mansion and applies to council for permission

The Manchester United boss has lodged papers with Cheshire council.

His application is for an astro turf pitch in the back garden — along with a two-metre-high perimeter fence.
A source said: “Ole lives, breathes and sleeps football but you’d think he’s got enough on his plate trying to turn United around.
“Maybe he wants to put in some extra work at home to improve results on the pitch.”

Solskjaer has come under increasing pressure this season after a string of poor results at home.
And he cannot rely on signing his way out of trouble in January with just £20million available — unless he can offload unwanted stars.
Yet that is purely a sign of the financial times, rather than a hint the top brass have totally lost faith in the manager.
The Covid-19 crisis has cost the club over £70m.

That means Solskjaer is unlikely to get his wish of bringing in a left-sided centre-back in the next window, unless he can find a cut-price and proven Premier League performer.
Insiders now believe Solskjaer will keep his powder dry until summer.
United sit 14th in the league, having beaten Everton 3-1 in their last match.
