And victory at bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday would send them six points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s champions.
Pogba, 27, said: “Now we are there and we need to stay there. Now is the difficult part.
“Our heads are focused on the league and we need to keep it up and keep going.”

While the season has not even reached its halfway point, Pogba reckons United have made a huge statement by going top.

The £89million Frenchman added: “It is — and you know even for us and the fans it is great. But there is a long way to go.”
United had to play a patient game against a resolute Burnley before Pogba made the breakthrough with a 16-yard volley.

Pogba said: “It proved that we are really focused. That’s how we improve, that’s how we get better.
“It was a difficult game and it’s going to be harder and harder.”

Pogba latched on to a brilliant ball from Marcus Rashford to fire home his 71st-minute volley at Turf Moor.
Having finally found his top form for the club four years after signing, he cannot hide his joy at what is happening right now.
He said: “I’m really happy; I’m really happy with the performance.
“Everyone kept the focus and we were good defensively. The performance was great.”

He said: “It was a great ball and I had the feeling to just go and shoot and it went in.
“I volleyed it and it touched someone and went in. Sometimes, that’s the perfect goal, the perfect moment; the perfect pass makes the perfect goal.
“The shot wasn’t the best but it went in.”
Anthony Martial is a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Anfield.

Man Utd would win Premier League title if Solskjaer seals Erling Haaland transfer this month, claims Agbonlahor

MANCHESTER UNITED could win the Premier League this season if they signed Erling Haaland, claims Gabby Agbonlahor.
United are behind leaders Liverpool only on goal difference, but are armed with a game in hand over their great rivals.

And to boost their chances of a first league title since 2013, former Aston Villa forward Agbonlahor has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign goal machine Haaland.
He told talkSPORT: “You look at the Premier League teams that could do with him now – Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, they could all do with him.
“What would he do for any of those clubs now? If they had him in January, whoever signed him would win the league.”

Haaland has attracted attention across Europe – including from Real Madrid and Barcelona – having scored 19 in 16 games for Borussia Dortmund this season.

The Norwegian striker joined the Bundesliga giants last year, having snubbed a move to Old Trafford.
Manager Solskjaer met with the 20-year-old but failed to convince him move to Old Trafford as he instead joined Dortmund for just £18m.

Now, Agbonlahor reckons the Germans could demand £180m for their star man, but tipped Bayern Munich and Madrid as the frontrunners to sign him.
He said: “He’s the most complete striker out there for me.

“We’re talking about Premier League clubs wanting him. I think Bayern Munich or Real Madrid are the favourites to get him.
“I feel like Borussia Dortmund can ask for whatever they want. If you’re talking about £100million for Sancho, you’re talking £180m for Haaland.
“You’re talking ridiculous money. He’ll be the most expensive player ever when he leaves Dortmund because he’s getting better.
“He’s learning, he looks hungry. He’s not happy just to be at Dortmund and score goals, he’s trying to improve his game and he’s going to get better and better.”

But according to Fabrizio Romano, Brighton are the first to make an official move for the 19-year-old
Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle are said to be open to selling the player, with Albion now set to move to personal terms.
It was understood the club were looking for a £5.5million transfer fee plus add-ons, as well as a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

Caicedo’s manager Santiago Morales recently denied that United have made a move for the midfielder – but admitted he was likely to leave.
Morales told Radio La Red: “There is interest from various teams for Moises Caicedo and we believe that we will not have him this year.
“There is much speculation with Moises Caicedo, but we haven’t had any communication with Manchester United.
“We are surprised that they even talk about values, but we haven’t spoken with Manchester United, although we have spoken with other great teams in the world.”

Despite Brighton moving to pole position in the race to sign Caicedo, the young talent admitted he looks up to United’s Paul Pogba and Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.

He said: “Manchester United are my favourite club.
“I really like the game of N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba, I learn a lot from them every time I see them.
“I always try to do what they do, that’s why they are there.”

Man Utd boss Solskjaer confirms Facundo Pellistri has coronavirus but says football has to keep going to boost morale

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER says football has to keep going to keep people’s spirits up.
There are growing calls for the season to be halted with Covid-19 cases rising in the game.

United confirmed 19-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri tested positive for coronavirus, ruling him out of their FA Cup tie with Watford.
But Solskjaer believes the positive mental aspect of people being able to watch matches on TV is also important.
He said: “First of all, you’re worried about what’s happening in society and the country, it’s a big thing.
“I personally feel safe within our bubble, we’ve taken all the steps we’ve had to in following protocols and guidelines, the players have been following as well as they can.

⚽ Read our Man United live blog for the latest news from Old Trafford
“What’s happening outside is frightening and we have a responsibility and duty to steer clear and keep within the bubbles.
“I hope we can continue playing because it’s a positive impact for anyone.
“When I’m at home and don’t have a game you’re looking forward to watching a game on telly and the mental well-being of football has been a big positive, I think.”

Solskjaer’s comments are in contrast to Newcastle boss Steve Bruce who thinks it is “morally wrong” to continue playing.
While a number of top flight clubs have been hit hard by Covid-19, United have largely been okay.

Only Uruguayan Pellistri is currently isolating due to a positive test.
Solskjaer said: “We’ve had the odd case and Facundo got a positive, so he reported that on his Twitter.
“We don’t normally comment on who they are, but Facundo is well and hopefully he’ll be back with us soon, he’s been with the reserves and 23s and wasn’t really in our group over Xmas.
“Apart from that, we have a full and fit squad.”
United take on Watford in the FA Cup third round aiming to bounce back from a fourth successive semi-final defeat when they went down 2-0 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Solskjaer is expecting the same bounce back as they have had to other set-backs this season.
He said: “You’re disappointed when you go out, you always are, we wanted to go one step further but have shown many times this season we can bounced back after disappointments.
“We did it after defeats to Arsenal, after Tottenham and after going out of the Champions League, the boys have always reacted well.
“We go into the next game wanting to win this, we enter this competition wanting to win.
“There are a few players that had a few knocks, there’ll be a few changes but we’ll still field a team I’m confident in.”

FA were quick to ban Edinson Cavani but have failed to act on Covidiots who have jeopardised the game’s existence

IN the week Kieran Trippier and Edinson Cavani were both banned, the FA have declared they will not be taking any action against players breaching Covid restrictions.
Talk about getting your priorities straight in a time of crisis.

Trippier has been suspended for a mammoth ten matches because he told a mate to ‘lump on’ him joining Atletico Madrid.
And Cavani is missing three Manchester United games for using an inappropriate word on social media.
Without wishing to trivialise either offence, surely both pale into insignificance when compared to the reckless behaviour of those players who wilfully broke coronavirus regulations over the festive period.

They haven’t just brought the game into disrepute, they have jeopardised its very existence.
And if that isn’t worthy of punishment, then I don’t know what is.
Cavani appears to be the only South American in the Premier League who hasn’t tested positive for coronavirus as a result of attending a lockdown party in recent weeks.
Most were only caught because they were dumb enough to post pictures of celebrations on WhatsApp.

But you can bet your life that they are just the tip of the idiot iceberg because there are probably hundreds more lower-league players who don’t have a social media following but have also been flouting the rules.

Three Spurs stars and a West Ham ace were snapped at a party together in what appears to be a breach of coronavirus rules

As a result it appears that football is in danger of throwing its doors wide open to the pandemic which has already led to 52 games in the EFL being postponed this season.
Now it’s the FA’s own flagship competition feeling the effects as Derby take a youth team to Chorley for tomorrow’s Cup third-round tie and Shrewsbury’s game at Southampton has been postponed.
Non-League Notts County, Boston United and Kettering have had to withdraw from the competition after viral outbreaks.
Now that the PFA have belatedly agreed to fund regular testing in the EFL, it is almost inevitable there will be plenty more postponements coming.
Which makes it all the more concerning managers such as Pep Guardiola have been defending the behaviour of the miscreants.
The Manchester City boss threw his toys out of the pram last week as Everton failed to wish his players a speedy recovery from the virus.

Kieran Trippier joked with friends to ‘lump on’ him joining Atletico MadridCredit: Reuters
Yet he still refused to condemn Benjamin Mendy’s New Year’s bash despite a number of his team-mates testing positive.
Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic had to issue an apology and make a donation to a local charity for a similar offence.
Eagles boss Roy Hodgson now says he will drop players who fail to follow all the procedures.
But you still suspect that many managers will only start to take this issue seriously if players are banned and results are affected.
That is why the FA can’t leave it to clubs to discipline players failing to adhere to the protocols that have allowed elite football to continue when most other industries have been shut down.
The game just about survived one spell in lockdown. Some teams will not survive another.

Man Utd star Paul Pogba has sights set on ‘big stuff’ as he looks to win trophies and get over ANOTHER semi-final loss

PAUL POGBA has his sights set on ‘the big stuff’ after shaking off yet another semi-final disappointment.

But with the chance to go top of the Premier League next week if they avoid defeat at Burnley, Pogba, 27, already has his eyes on a bigger prize.
He said: “The club is built on winning big things so that is all we want to get — the big stuff.
“We have to learn. Next time, we will do better. Last year they dominated us, that wasn’t the case so we are improving.”

United team-mate Bruno Fernandes agreed and posted on Instagram: “I’m very sad to once again don’t reach a final.
“We have to learn and understand we can’t make the same mistakes.”
Meanwhile Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised United fans one of the most exciting young players in world football with the arrival of Amad Diallo.
The Red Devils have confirmed the £37million transfer of 18-year-old Diallo from Atalanta as their first January signing.

Solskjaer said: “As a club, we have followed Amad for a number of years and having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game.

Pogba seems keen to stay at United to help them win more silverwareCredit: –

“Manchester United has such a proud history of developing young players and everything is in place to enable Amad to reach his potential here.
The winger – who is yet to decide on his shirt number – told the United website: “After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United.
“I am hugely ambitious and there is so much that I want to achieve in the game; when I spoke to the manager I knew that I had joined the perfect club.
“This is a really exciting squad with so many great players, I can promise that I will work hard every day to learn from them and give everything to develop my game.
“The coaches have been fantastic since I signed, we have been in touch regularly and they have already given me a lot of great advice.
“I have had time to prepare for this move, both physically and mentally, and I have worked really hard to be ready to make the step up to this amazing club.”

Man Utd signing Amad Diallo boasts explosive pace, is called ‘kid’ by Pogba and scored on his debut within four minutes

DESCRIBED as a generational talent by the Italian media, Amad Diallo has Manchester United fans eagerly anticipating his arrival.
The 18-year-old was signed by the Red Devils in October for a reported £37million fee, and is expected to link up with his team mates in the next coming days once a work permit is issued.

Diallo shared a snap on Instagram on Monday jetting off on a private plane

On Monday, he shared a snap on Instagram flying out on a private plane – and given his career progression so far that’s a life he will surely become accustomed to.
Diallo only made his professional debut in 2019, when he came on as a sub for Atalanta in the 79th minute of their Serie A game against Udinese.
But within four minutes his name was on the scoresheet and a buzz was generated.
No wonder Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is purring at the thought of adding the exciting winger to a resurgent Red Devils squad that’s in title contention this year.

    OUT OF AFRICA
Diallo was born in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast and moved to Italy at the age of 10.
The family settled in a town near Parma, and at the suggestion of Fabrizio Gilioli, the father of ex-Modena player Cris Gilioli (currently a coach at US Sassuolo) Diallo and his brother Hamed would join local boys’ side Boca Barco.
Both went on to trial at AS Lucchese after being spotted by former AC Milan goalkeeper Giovanni Galli.
But it was Amad who would be signed up professionally first in 2014.

After impressing Atalanta youth coordinator Maurizio Costanzi at a tournament in which he was the youngest player, as well as top scorer, Diallo was invited to train with I Nerazzurri.

Diallo’s official Instagram page contains a photo of the winger with Pogba who was at Juventus in 2015.
When the teenager’s transfer to United was confirmed, the French World Cup winner sent him the message “Welcome, kid” with a wink emoji.
    IMPRESSIVE FROM THE START
Without his older brother Hamed (who signed for Empoli in 2015 and now plays for AS Sassuolo) to protect him, Diallo could have found his new surroundings daunting.
Initially, he began life in the U14 championship in Italy, but was soon promoted to the U15 team.
There, he led Atalanta Primavera into the Final Eight – a playoff tournament that pits the best U15 teams in Italy against one another.
They faced off against Roma in the final, and it was no surprise who made the difference.
Diallo starred and scored in a 2-0 win as Atalanta were victorious.

Italian media have labelled Diallo a generational talent
    FIRST TEAM CALL-UP
More goals followed at youth level – 12 in 27 appearances in 2017-18 for the U17 team, then a season later six goals and six assists in the U19 championship – helping Atalanta win it.
A star-turn at the Supercoppa Primavera – where he provided two assists in a 2-1 win over Fiorentina – convinced first team coaches he was ready for the bigger stage.
Four days before Halloween in 2019, Diallo put the frighteners up Udinese.
Coming on as a sub in the 79th minute, the wideman received the ball just past the halfway line and drove towards Udinese’s defence, who backed off in fear.
He then unleashed a powerful low shot from the edge of the box that whistled into the back of the net. A star was born.

It’s no wonder Solskjaer is eager to link up with his new prodigy, and plans on throwing him in at the deep end.
The Norwegian has called Diallo an “exciting prospect” and reportedly feels it would be a waste of time keeping him out of the limelight in youth football.
Given his instant impact at senior level, could he be the final piece in the jigsaw needed to bring the Premier League crown back to Old Trafford? You wouldn’t bet against it. More
