Man Utd legend Roy Keane slams ‘bored’ Nathan Ake for costly Community Shield blunder as City slump to Leicester defeat

ROY KEANE slammed ‘bored’ Nathan Ake for his costly Community Shield blunder as Manchester City were beaten by Leicester. The Dutchman conceded a penalty in the last minute of the season curtain raiser at Wembley after miscontrolling the ball.

Kelechi Iheanacho pounced and was then brought down by Ake, before converting the spot-kick.
The centre-back’s mistake cost City the game and left United legend Roy Keane less than impressed.
He said on ITV: “It’s a definite penalty. Ake is another one of these defenders who gets bored.
“He just switches off for a split second. Credit to Iheanacho, we talk about strikers putting the ball in the net but closing people down, winning the penalty.
“The keeper got his hand to it but just too much power. I look at Ake today, these are important opportunities for these players.
“You know the manager is doubting you and it just confirms to Pep today that this guy is probably a bit short for us.
“When you make mistakes like that it just confirms what the manager is thinking of you.”
City signed Ake last summer for £41million from Bournemouth.
But he managed 13 appearances having been overlooked in Pep Guardiola’s side and Arsenal icon Ian Wright reckons the defender has not helped his case.

Wright said: “Nathan Ake has got to be aware that he’s needed there.
“He looks like he’s on his heels. To be fair, Kelechi has come on and been very sharp but it’s a poor foul from him.
“The goalkeeper was there, maybe the power was too much for him.”

Watch Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes score stunning free-kick against Everton in pre-season sending fans into meltdown

Mason Greenwood, 19, got them off to a perfect start by opening the scoring eight minutes in.
And on the 15th minute, captain Harry Maguire, 28, doubled the scoring.
But talisman Fernandes, 26, scored the pick of the bunch with an expertly-placed free-kick just outside the box.
It was evidently too hard for United fans not to share their excitement, even if it was scored in a friendly.
    One said: “What a goal.”
    Another said: “Amazing, Bruno.”
One commented: “Oh that’s brilliant. Wow.”
    Another commented: “BRUNO. IS. BACK.”
Even new signing Jadon Sancho, 21, tweeted: “Bruno.” With a love heart face emoji.

Fernandes, for the second season running, picked up United’s player of the year awarded.
It followed after 28 goals in 58 games, helping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to a second-placed finish behind champions City.
But Fernandes was barely recognisable in the summer’s delayed European Championships as Portugal surrendered their crown in the last 16.

Manager Solskjaer admitted the midfielder was so vital to United last season that he may have used him too much.
He said: “We need to arrive in April and May with players fresh. We need players with that X factor who can make a difference.
“Bruno last year for example, maybe I overplayed him but it was because he was so important for us.”

Lingard STAYING at Man Utd, hints Solskjaer but star tests positive for Covid just a week before season opener vs Leeds

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER hinted Jesse Lingard is STAYING at Manchester United – but the playmaker has tested positive for Covid-19.Lingard, who revived his career on loan at West Ham last season, confirmed he was sidelined after catching coronavirus.

He tweeted: “Really gutted to have tested positive after a good pre season, luckily I feel fine and will follow the guidelines and be back with the boys on pitch very soon!
    “Thank you for your support.”
Lingard’s setback will see him miss today’s pre-season friendly against Everton, and potentially their Premier League opener against Leeds on August 14.
The midfielder, who narrowly missed out on a place in England’s Euros squad this summer, shined at West Ham after his loan move in January.
He scored nine times for the Hammers in 16 games and was subject to a potential permanent transfer.
But it is believed Lingard, 28, wanted to stay while at Old Trafford West Ham were unwilling to meet United’s valuation.
Solskjaer also appeared to confirm the England international would not leave as he referenced his strength in depth.
He said: “Adding these extra players – Jesse coming back, Jadon [Sancho] coming in, Anthony [Martial] being fit again – gives us a lot more to work with.”

Solskjaer also confirmed some of his squad have had coronavirus jabs, while others had not.

“But we’re going to have a bigger session with them now because I think it’s important that everyone knows what it’s about.”

Man Utd set for £47m cash boost as Inter Milan owe Romelu Lukaku transfer payment with more to come if he joins Chelsea

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly still owed £47million by Inter Milan in Romelu Lukaku transfer payments. And they could earn even more if the striker joins Chelsea this summer due to a sell-on clause they have.

Inter signed Lukaku for £73million in 2019 from United and agreed a deal to pay in instalments.
But according to The Express, the Italian champions still have £47m left to pay.
Lukaku, 28, helped Inter to their first league title in 11 years last season with 24 goals in 36 games.
But the club are still struggling financially, with debts of close to £548million, a primary reason manager Antonio Conte left.
And while Inter do not want to lose hitman Lukaku, Chelsea have already bid for the Belgian, who they had from 2011-2014.
    UNITED’S SELL-ON CLAUSE
SunSport revealed they turned down an approach of £86m with left-back Marcos Alonso, 30, included in the deal.
And it is believed Inter want at least £100m guaranteed for the man who snubbed a Blues return in 2017 to instead join United.
But when Lukaku left Old Trafford, a sell-on clause entitling United to four and five per cent of any future sale was put on, The Telegraph say.
It means Chelsea could give their Premier League rivals and even bigger financial boost if they land the Belgium international.
Stamford Bridge boss Thomas Tuchel has made it clear to them he needs a top-class striker to help bridge the gap between themselves and champions City this season.

The Blues originally prioritised a move for Erling Haaland, 21, but despite applying pressure have found Borussia Dortmund unwilling to drop their £170m asking price.
And they have found Bayern Munich just as tough to crack after enquiring about the availability of Robert Lewandowski.
With Harry Kane intent on moving to City it leaves Lukaku as the most viable of the best strikers in the world to get a deal done for, but it will come at a cost.

Anthony Joshua leaves Man Utd legend Gary Neville stunned with insane skills on the speed-bag

ANTHONY JOSHUA left Gary Neville stunned after showing off his incredible skills on the speed-bag.Manchester United legend Neville visited AJ’s training HQ in Sheffield – home to Team GB’s amateur boxing squad – and was put through his paces.

But the former right-back could not quite get the hang of the peanut bag, and unified champion AJ had to show him how it’s done.
Joshua produced blistering speed and expert rhythm to create the sweet sound of the speed ball in full affect – but it had Neville almost speechless.
The ex-England defender had to watch and learn as AJ then gave him some drills to do on the heavy bag, including combination punching.
It then got hands on for the pair, as 2012 Olympic champion Joshua took Neville on the pads.
And this time it was AJ raising an eyebrow due to Neville’s right uppercut, as he told the Sky Sports pundit ‘lovely, got some power!’
After getting a masterclass from the heavyweight superstar, it was time to get down to business.
And Neville asked the questions everyone was wondering – why is AJ not fighting Tyson Fury?
Joshua said: “We’ll fight, 100 per cent, let’s do it.
“I’ll smoke that guy. I will. It’s annoying. For me, I don’t really get into the Twitter back and forth, because it’s Twitter fingers.
    JOSHUA VS FURY?
“Anyone can sit behind a computer and talk. Let’s be real, let’s be honest. Let’s let the people know.
“You’re the one that let the fans down, because everyone seems to think.
“I fought on December 12th. When they were like, ‘Who do you want to fight next?’ I said I don’t want to call out any names.
“And I know because I’m going to start shouting out people’s names and I’m going to be in this position now where the guys’ name I’m shouting out doesn’t want to fight or he’s not ready to fight.”
Terms for Joshua, 31, to fight Fury, 32, were all-but agreed for August 14 in Saudi Arabia – until it fell apart at the 11th hour.
It came as Fury was ordered to fight Deontay Wilder, 35, in a contracted trilogy bout after the American took his case to arbitration.
Now, those two rematch once more on October 9, while Joshua faces mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk, 34, on September 25 at Tottenham’s stadium.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed – should AJ and Fury prevail in their interim fights – the Battle of Britain could be salvaged for February 2022.
And Joshua promised as long as he is champ, boxing fans WILL get to see the one they have waited so long for.

He said: “He’s a fighter isn’t he. What’s the worst that can happen? You get hit. He’s been doing it for years.
“However, I just know on my end, and my management team and my promoter – we done everything we can to make this happen and as long as I’m champion, I’ll compete with anyone.
“I’ve got a tough challenger coming up now. A great fighter.”

Man Utd signing Raphael Varane met Wag Camille Tytgat when they were at high-school, and she is a qualified lawyer

THERE’s no bigger supporter in the Varane household than his wife Camille Tytgat. The French defender, 28, has agreed a deal to join Manchester United after a fee was agreed between the Red Devils and Real Madrid.

Happy couple Varane and Tygat are high-school sweethearts
Joining him on this new chapter will be his beautiful partner, who is regularly seen cheering her man on when he plays for France.
Blonde Camille, also 28, was Raphael’s high-school sweetheart.
A trained lawyer, she is the mother of their two children, Ruben and Anais.
    HIGH-SCHOOL ROMANCE
Varane and Camille’s romance reportedly began in around 2010, when they were still at high school.
They grew up in Lille together, before he embarked on his football career that began with Lens.
Their love stood the test of time, and they married in 2015 in front of the town hall of the seaside town Le Touquet.
The ceremony was an intimate affair with only family and close friends invited to the nuptials.
And they have continued to keep things discreet about their special day, sharing just one image of it online – with both dressed in white.

    LAW & ORDER
Not one to rest on her laurels, Camille isn’t your typical Wag.
In fact, she made sure she finished a degree in law before settling down as footballer’s wife.
It’s not known if Camille practices law, though, as she prefers to keep her personal life private.
Occasionally, she gives glimpses of her lifestyle on lavish trips abroad and their family life.

Perhaps what’s most crucial to Camille at the moment is being a mother.
She has two children with Varane, a son called Ruben, 4, and a girl called Anais, who was born in October last year.
And often, she shares experiences with them on Insta – from beach days to wearing matching outfits.
Judging by how the family supports their famous dad, it won’t be long before they appear at Old Trafford next season.
And fully expect Camille and the kids to be sporting United jerseys with his name on the back.

And despite enjoying some well earned time off during the summer, Sancho is getting right back down to business.
The 21-year-old forward is likely to make his debut in red against Everton on Saturday, August 7, in a pre-season friendly.
And United hope to add Raphael Varane, 28, to their squad this summer after holding talks with the player and Real Madrid.
They believe there has been a breakthrough in negotiations with SunSport understanding an agreement over a fee for the Frenchman is close.
It comes also after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2024.
But his first friendly after penning a new deal ended in disaster as United were beaten 4-2 by Londoners QPR.
They play Brentford next on Wednesday, but will be without new signing Sancho.
The former Dortmund star and team-mate Marcus Rashford, 23, had jetted off to Caribbean island Turks and Caicos.

Man Utd ‘want to sell Anthony Martial’ after completing Jadon Sancho transfer with French forward no longer needed

It came one year after the England forward’s move to Old Trafford collapsed as Dortmund held out for £108m.
In the period since, Frenchman Martial, 25, failed to make an impact with only seven goals.
It was instead veteran Edison Cavani, 34, who emerged as United’s threat in front of goal, with Sancho, 21, now adding to the front line.
But according to the Daily Star, Martial’s future has now been left in the balance with the club hoping to sell him.
They are also closing in on a deal to sign centre-back Raphael Varane, 28, who Real Madrid value at £50m.
Personal terms are already underway with defender Varane with United now looking at ways to bring in funds.
Martial – who signed from Monaco in 2015 for £44.5m – has attracted attention from Tottenham before.
But his £250,000-a-week wages will cause a stumbling block, with Spurs among those not interested in matching the figure.

He said: “He’s such a creative, positive winger and forward player. He can play wide, nip into the pockets and he excites the fans.
He takes people on one-against-one, he creates chances, he works hard and he loves football.
