Higuain warns Messi he would get ‘s*** kicked out of him’ in the Premier League amid Man City transfer talk

CHELSEA flop Gonzalo Higuain has warned Lionel Messi he would be “kicked the s*** out of” if he decided to play in the Premier League.
Following Barcelona’s thumping by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, it was reported that Messi has told the club he wants to leave.

The Argentinian has cut a forlorn figure at times in what has been a miserable season the the Catalans.
They threw away the LaLiga title to bitter rivals Real Madrid after leading for most of the season.
Manchester City have emerged as the favourites to sign the 33-year-old which would see him reunited with old boss Pep Guardiola
But Higuain, who endured a torrid 18-game loan spell with Chelsea in 2019, has warned Messi that he could “suffer” some rough treatement from defenders in England.

Speaking to Fox Sports, as translated by Marca, Higuain, 32, said: “I suffered a lot in the Premier League and couldn’t adapt in those six months.
“It’s nothing like LaLiga. Defenders kick the s*** out of you and nothing gets given, they don’t blow for free-kicks like they would in Spain.
“I don’t know how that would affect Messi.
“I don’t think he would suffer, since he is a player at another level.”

Big things were expected of Higuain when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, but he scored only five goals.
Messi has grown disillusioned with life at his boyhood club following numerous mounting problems behind the scenes.
His contract expires next summer when he can leave for free but he appears determined to leave right now.
He reportedly threatened to quit if there was not a major restructure at the Nou Camp.
But he is not willing to wait for the change and wants to leave “immediately”, according to Esporte Interativo.

An inside source close to Messi is quoted as saying: “He has never seen Leo so determined to leave as now.”
The Brazilian outlet correctly revealed Neymar was leaving Barca for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Barcelona have refuted the claims, according to Catalan outlet Sport.

Claudio Bravo, 37, leaves Man City after dodgy four-year spell as Real Betis line up free transfer for keeper

CLAUDIO BRAVO’S time at Manchester City is over after the veteran goalkeeper was released.
The Chilean stopper, 37, is out of contract now Manchester City’s season is over after signing a short-term extension to cover the elongated campaign.

But it means after four years, 61 appearances and 20 clean sheets, his erratic spell has ended.
Now he is being eyed by Real Betis on a free transfer.
Bravo joined from Barcelona in 2016 as Pep Guardiola arrived with his passing philosophy and ditched Joe Hart.
The ex-Real Sociedad stopper played 30 times in his first season but finished with the lowest save percentage in the Premier League on 54.1 per cent.

But it was his high-profile errors – such as getting sent off against Barcelona and dropping the ball for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to fire home in the Manchester derby – which meant City spent a world-record fee to land Ederson in the summer of 2017.
After that error-riddled debut campaign, Bravo featured just another 31 times – and seven times in the league – meaning more than half of his 61 City appearances came in the cup competitions.
He leaves the Etihad with six medals – two Premier League, two League Cup and two Community Shield.

But he was not part of the FA Cup-winning side after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon during the 2018/19 season which sidelined him for ten months.

Bravo is expected to link up former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini at Betis, as his fellow Chilean bids to shore up La Liga’s second-worst defence, according to Goal.

The Seville outfit conceded 60 goals in 2019/20 as they finished 15th in Spain’s top division.
Like Bravo, David Silva has also returned to LaLiga.
After ten fine seasons in Manchester, the Magician, 34, has penned a two-year deal with Real Sociedad.

Man City line up shock £40m transfer bid for Spurs star Harry Winks with Jose Mourinho willing to sell

PEP GUARDIOLA wants Manchester City to make a shock move for Harry Winks.
The England midfielder is facing an uncertain future under Jose Mourinho at Tottenham – but his old rival Guardiola is a serious admirer of the player.

    1

Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City to make a shock move for Harry Winks
Winks, 24, signed a new five-year contract with Spurs only last summer under Mauricio Pochettino.
But the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton is likely to see his first-team chances limited next term.
Spurs are always reluctant to sell to big-six rivals but Mourinho is desperate to make more signings to put his own stamp on his squad and knows he needs to sell if there are to be any significant signings.
Winks is believed to be one valuable asset who could be allowed to go, if Spurs attract a bid in excess of £40million.

Despite Mourinho’s problems with £56m club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele, it is highly unlikely that the Frenchman would attract a bid for anything like the sum Spurs paid to sign him from Lyon last summer.
Winks is seen as a Spanish-style midfielder, excellent in possession, and regarded as ‘very much a Pep player and not a Jose player’.
Guardiola does have decent options in central midfield but is said to be intrigued by the prospect of developing Winks to his full potential.
Winks was a regular starter for Spurs in the later stages of the season but the club fought hand to land Hojbjerg, despite stiff competition from Everton.

And the Dane has been lined up for the deep-lying midfield role held by Winks.
If Tottenham indicate they will allow Winks to go, there is likely to be strong interest from Spain and Italy.
But clubs from those leagues would be less likely than City to make a bid which could tempt Spurs to sell.

Chelsea join Arsenal in Joelson Fernandes transfer race after Gunners have £29m bid ‘rejected by Sporting Lisbon’

CHELSEA and Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Portuguese prodigy Joelson Fernandes, according to reports.
The Sporting Lisbon starlet, 17, has been dubbed the next Cristiano Ronaldo due to his phenomenal wing-wizardry.

    1

Chelsea and Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Joelson Fernandes
Under-17 international Joelson made his Primeira Liga debut for Sporting in June and has a £41million release clause in his contract.
Arsenal have just had a second offer of £29m turned down by Sporting officials after failing with an £18m opening bid.
The Gunners are expected to test the Lisbon club’s resolve with an improved offer later this week, with boss Mikel Arteta eager to land the teenager.
But reports in Portugal claim both Chelsea and City have contacted Joelson’s advisor Kia Joorabchian to discuss potential deals.

Meetings are understood to be planned with both the free-spending Premier League clubs in the next few days.
And either Blues chief Frank Lampard or Etihad boss Pep Guardiola could yet pip Arteta to Joelson’s signature – with Sporting insisting they want the full £41million for him.

Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have also shown interest in the youngster.
Guinea-Bissau-born Joelson is the latest in a line of wing wonders produced by Sporting, following in the footsteps of Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Nani.

He has 16 Portugal youth caps from Under-15 upwards, scoring four goals.

Man City ‘offer £57m plus bonuses for Kalidou Koulibaly transfer’ but Napoli demand £63m up front

MANCHESTER CITY have made an opening offer for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports.
The Etihad outfit have already secured the £41million signing of Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake this summer as they attempt to close the 18-point gap to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.

    1

Man City have reportedly offered Napoli £57million plus bonuses for Kalidou Koulibaly
City are hoping to tempt the Italian side into selling Koulibaly with an opening bid of £57million plus bonuses, but it is thought Napoli will hold out for at least £63million up front.
Koulibaly, 29, has been a long-standing target for a number of top clubs, including City and rivals Manchester United.
United, however, have yet to make a formal offer for the Senegalese international.
Napoli are hoping the sale of Koulibaly can help recoup some of the club record £74million spent on the signing of Lille striker Victor Osimhen.

And club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has hinted the defender’s time at the Stadio San Paolo may be coming to an end.
He said: “Kalidou is a great person, I would be terribly sad to lose him.
“But there is a time for everything, even to move apart.”
Koulibaly has made 246 appearances over the course of a six-year spell in Naples.

Man City are in the market for defenders this summer and see Koulibaly as a belated replacement for Vincent Kompany, who departed the Etihad last summer.
Both John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi have fallen out of favour with City boss Pep Guardiola and have been linked with moves elsewhere in recent weeks.
Guardiola has preferred 19-year-old Eric Garcia – but the Spaniard himself has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer and his future at City appears uncertain.

Man City blunder keeper Claudio Bravo set for Real Betis transfer as Pellegrini eyes solution for leaky defence

CLAUDIO BRAVO could sign for Real Betis once his contract at Manchester City expires, according to reports.
The Chilean goalkeeper, 37, agreed a short-term extension to take him through to the end of City’s Champions League campaign in June but he now looks set to leave the Etihad.

Bravo will link up former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini at Betis, as his fellow Chilean bids to shore up La Liga’s second-worst defence, according to Goal.
The Seville outfit conceded 60 goals in 2019-20 as they finished 15th in Spain’s top division.
Bravo’s arrival at the Benito Villamarin could signal the end for Betis’ current No 1, ex-Wigan and Everton keeper Joel Robles.
Bravo joined Man City from Barcelona in 2016 for a reported fee of £17million.

After a difficult first season in Manchester, in which he had the worst save percentage of any goalkeeper in the Premier League with 54.1 per cent, he was replaced by Ederson as Pep Guardiola’s first-choice.

Despite this, Bravo has played an important role as Ederson’s back-up in the last three seasons with 17 appearances in all competitions this term.
The former Real Sociedad goalkeeper has been linked with Arsenal, Celtic and New York City FC in recent months but he now appears to be eyeing a move back to La Liga.
Bravo has travelled with the rest of the Manchester City squad to Lisbon ahead of the Champions League last eight mini-tournament, with City taking on Lyon in the quarter-finals on Saturday night.

David Silva posts emotional Man City goodbye with poignant image of legend overlooking Etihad as Lazio transfer nears

MANCHESTER CITY legend David Silva has posted a farewell goodbye to the Etihad after he played his final game at the ground on Friday night.
The 34-year-old – who will leave the club later this month – played nine minutes in the 2-1 win against Real Madrid to keep his Champions League dream alive.

But even though he still may feature for City again this season with Pep Guardiola’s men to face Lyon on Saturday, he will not feature again at the Etihad.
That is because the remaining Champions League fixtures will all take place in Lisbon with the quarter-finals and semi-finals a one-legged affair.
The European Cup has alluded Silva in his ten years spent at the club after arriving from Valencia in 2010.
After helping his team-mates earn a 4-2 aggregate win against Los Blancos, Silva took to social media, where he posted a picture of himself standing inside City’s stadium looking out at the pitch and the stands.

Silva – who has won four Premier League titles and two FA Cups with the Citizens – is reportedly set to join Lazio on a free transfer.
It has been claimed that the Spanish playmaker has been offered £52,000-a-week by the Rome outfit, as well as a private jet and a luxury pad.
His father revealed last week how he hopes his son signs for Lazio, as he said: “One day he tells me one thing and the next he tells me another.
“Personally I would like him to remain in Europe and until the transfer window shuts, I can’t rule out anything.

“I can confirm that he likes the Italian league and would really enjoy playing in Italy. He told me he could play there until he’s 40 years old.
“At the moment, there are many offers and he has to decide, but I’d love it if he signed for Lazio, because even if Rome is quite far away, it’d be a huge opportunity for him.
“I know it’s unlikely he’ll come back to Spain, as he always tells me to rule out the idea of a return to Valencia.”

Barcelona want Man City star Bernardo Silva and could offer Nelson Semedo in shock swap transfer

BARCELONA are interested in signing Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, according to reports.
The Portuguese midfielder started just 23 Premier League matches for City this season as he struggled to rediscover the form that saw him named their player of the year in 2018-19.

Barca hope to capitalise on Silva’s situation and could include right-back Nelson Semedo in a cash-plus-player swap deal.
The Telegraph claims the La Liga giants hope to tempt the 25-year-old with a new challenge after three seasons at the Etihad.
However, Barca’s limited post-coronavirus budget means they have prioritised swap deals this summer and hope to test City’s resolve by offering Semedo in part-exchange.
Semedo, 26, has been on City’s radar for some time and is among a number of names the Blaugrana are looking to move on in the transfer window.

Silva joined City from Monaco in 2017 for an initial £43.5million fee but would likely be valued much higher by City, even though the pandemic looks in the most part to have decimated transfer fees globally.
Despite a downturn in form, the midfielder has still contributed eight goals and ten assists in 52 appearances this season.
Asked recently about Silva, City boss Pep Guardiola admitted this season had been tough for the Portuguese due to the displays of Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez.

“This season, maybe it was my fault or maybe Phil was more involved and Riyad maintained his level and the other players played good too,” Guardiola said.
Silva was overlooked in favour of Foden for City’s Champions League last-16 win over Real Madrid on Friday night before coming on for the England under-21 international in the 67th minute.
