Man Utd blow as Sergio Ramos ‘tells Real Madrid pals he’s joining PSG’ as Spain legend leaves on free transfer

SERGIO RAMOS has told former Real Madrid team-mates that he is going to join Paris Saint-Germain, reports suggest.Real confirmed last week that Ramos will leave the club after 16 scintillating years at the Santiago Bernabeu when his contract expired.

The 35-year-old is at an advanced age but is still considered as one of the best centre-backs in the world and his departure has led to interest from some of football’s top clubs.
Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG have all been monitoring the Spain international.
According to Tiempo de Juego, however, the legendary defender has told other Los Blancos players that he is on his way to Paris.
Reports suggested that Ramos has been prioritising the French giants, who have offered him a deal that is ‘financially superior’ to what the two Manchester clubs have proposed.

But if negotiations collapse, then the former Real captain would prefer to join United over City.
Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a top defender to partner up with Harry Maguire at centre-back ahead of this coming season.
The Spaniard held a tearful press conference last Thursday as he bid farewell to the club where he won 22 major honours.
An emotional Ramos said: “I’ll always keep Real Madrid in my heart.

“A marvellous stage in my life is over, but a new exciting future awaits and I am looking forward to showing my level and winning some more trophies.
“You’re never prepared to say adios to Real Madrid but the moment has arrived. This is an ‘adieu’ as sooner or later I will return.
“I would like to thank the fans, they carried me in their arms at all times.
“I would have liked to say goodbye at the Bernabeu. But I will always carry you in my heart.”

Man City line up Joao Felix as Harry Kane transfer alternative and could offer Atletico Madrid Bernardo Silva

MANCHESTER CITY will bid for Atletico Madrid superstar Joao Felix – if they cannot secure Tottenham’s Harry Kane, according to reports.Felix has struggled to live up to his huge £113million transfer from Benfica since arriving at the LaLiga giants.

The Portuguese playmaker has scored 19 goals and assisted nine more in 76 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side.
But according to Eurosport, Man City are now lining up a transfer offer which could include their forward Bernardo Silva going the other way.
Barcelona are also interested in Silva, but City are hoping a part-exchange deal for Felix can be agreed with Atletico.
Silva arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2017 and has played 201 times for the club, scoring 35 goals.
But both of those transfer moves largely depend upon where Kane ends up this summer.
The England captain declared his desire to move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium towards the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
And Man City are one of the clubs leading the way in their pursuit of the Three Lions skipper.
Kane, 27, who came through the youth set-up at Spurs, has scored a remarkable 221 goals in 336 games for the Lilywhites.

Speaking about his club future back in March, Kane said: “I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs.
“But I’ve always said, if I don’t feel we’re going in the right direction then I’m not someone who will just stay for the sake of it.
“I’m an ambitious player, I want to become one of the best players.”
Man City are hoping to find a suitable replacement for the club’s all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who left to join Barcelona after his contract with the Premier League champions came to an end.

Man City chief Khaldoon Al Mubarak ‘not satisfied’ with only winning Prem as he gives Harry Kane transfer go ahead

MANCHESTER CITY chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has given Pep Guardiola the green light to go out and bid for Harry Kane. The Premier League champions said an emotional farewell to all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero at the weekend.

And their Abu Dhabi owners have vowed to land a top name who can fill the boots of the deadly Argentine forward.
That will come as a blow to Tottenham’s hopes of holding onto England captain Kane – who has made it clear he wants out this summer.
Khaldoon said: “We’re losing a very important legend in Sergio, they are very hard shoes to fill.
“I’m confident we will find the right player to fill those shoes.
“There are other areas that need investment, not too many. but it’s not about numbers –  it’s about quality.
“It’s a phenomenal squad – you don’t win the Premier League and get to the Champions League final without an incredible squad.
“We have that but will bring quality into the squad in a couple of key positions.”
City were previously linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku of Inter.

But Kane’s wish to leave Spurs has put City on red alert and it now seems Pep will have the financial muscle for such a deal.
The City boss is also a huge fan of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish – although he may have to sell some of his current midfielders to make room.
Despite winning the league and reaching the final of the Champions League, Khaldoon feels now is the time to strengthen.
He added: “One of the things I’ve learned over the years is you need to constantly bring in talent, refresh.
“And particularly when you are at a high level, on the top. Having won the league it is not the time to sit back and be content. That would be the biggest mistake.
“This is the time to send a strong message that there is no contentment and we are not satisfied with just winning the league.”
He also re-iterated that Guardiola will be back next season – and says the club hope that he will continue at the helm for many years to come.

Kane scored the most goals and provided the most assists in the top-flight this campaign

Khaldoon said: “This has been a great partnership. Pep is in the right environment, the right infrastructure, we have the greatest trust and relationship,
“We have the greatest trust and relationship – we’ve achieved so much but the journey goes on and it will go on as long as Pep is happy and we are happy.
“To the City fans be positive and be confident, enjoy these moments and look forward to next season.”

Man City defender Eric Garcia confirms Barcelona transfer… and cannot resist hilarious dig at Man Utd

MANCHESTER CITY defender Eric Garcia has confirmed he is leaving to join Spanish giants Barcelona, but not before he aimed one final dig at local rivals Manchester United. The 20-year-old Spaniard was born in Barcelona and was in their youth team until 2017.

He left for Man City four years ago but has only played 35 times for the Sky Blues in his three seasons with the first team.
Speaking to Catalan outlet L’Esportiu about his decision to return to Barca, he said: “I have thought about my future and what I think is best now.
“I think it’s a brave decision. I am very convinced of the step I have taken.”
He was then asked about comparisons between himself and Gerard Pique, who came back to Barca as a young defender after a four-year stint with Man Utd.
“I don’t care because I think we’re different footballers, right? The truth is, I play down the subject,” he added.
“Gerard has achieved everything, he is one of the best central defenders in the world, he is more than recognised and I am 20 years old and I am starting my career, practically.
“So the only possible comparison is this: that we are both from the [Barcelona] academy and we lived in Manchester, but he played for the not-so-good team.
“I was luckier and I was able to play for the best team in Manchester. It’s a shame for him.”

Garcia also took the time to speak about legendary Man City striker Sergio Aguero.
He said: “Kun [Aguero] is a phenomenon and a goal-scoring machine. How old are you? Forget it!
“Kun will score goals until the age of 100. He is a legend, a myth. And a fabulous teammate.”
The Argentine is the club’s all-time top scorer but is leaving at the end of the season when his contract comes to an end.
Aguero is strongly linked with a move to Barca to join up with international teammate Lionel Messi.

Man City’s worst Premier League signings ever including Jerome Boateng, Jack Rodwell & Eliaquim Mangala

MANCHESTER CITY have invested over £1BILLION in the transfer market over the past decade so, naturally, there are going to be some flops. For every David Silva and Yaya Toure, there’s an Eliaquim Mangala or Jack Rodwell.
Three great signings out of four ain’t badCredit: EPA
Fortunately for current boss Pep Guardiola, most of the club’s most useless transfers came before the Spaniard brought them continued success.
Here, SunSport details the five WORST signings City have made in the Premier League era….
    Eliaquim Mangala – £42m (2014)
Mangala was strongly criticised by the media during his time at CityCredit: AFP or licensors
Joleon Lescott left the Etihad Stadium after Manuel Pellegrini’s side won the title and Mangala was heralded as a ready-made replacement.
The defender’s first two seasons saw the club drift away from the top of the table and he was often hammered for poor positioning and slow reactions.
A solid loan spell at Valencia earned Mangala momentary reprieve under Guardiola but, after 15 appearances, the new boss binned him off before serious injury struck in a 2018 spell with Everton.Jack Rodwell – £12m (2012)
Injuries curtailed Rodwell’s progressCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd
Rodwell was an up-and-coming star at Everton but became a symbol of City’s trigger-happy stockpiling when jumping ship at the age of 21.
There was a problem, however: City already had an excellent set of central midfielders.
Battling past Yaya Toure, James Milner, David Silva, Samir Nasri, Javi Garcia, Gareth Barry and Fernandinho was too much for Rodwell and he left after two years and just 25 appearances.

    Jerome Boateng – £10m (2010)
It is painful enough seeing a former player go on to great things but City didn’t even get close to utilising Boateng’s full potential.
Perhaps player and club were doomed from day one, the German tearing a tendon in his knee the week before the season began and aggravating it when a drinks trolley bashed it on a flight.
A year later, Boateng asked to head back home and was allowed to leave for Bayern Munich – going on to win a World Cup, a Champions League and seven Bundesliga titles.
    Jo – £19m (2008)
Jo arrived with a great record for CSKA MoscowCredit: Reuters
A top striker in Russia when snapped up by Mark Hughes, Jo struggled to say the least – scoring once in nine league outings before being moved on six months into his stay.
A brief upturn in form at Goodison Park gave the Citizens some hope of turning a profit… but a dismal 2009-10 season on Merseyside dropped him back at City.
Failing to take another chance the following season, Jo finally left to return to Brazil, having cost much more than Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta combined.Wilfried Bony – £25m (2015)
Bony was sent back to Swansea in 2016 but couldn’t find form there, eitherCredit: Getty Images – Getty
Ten goals in 46 games, only six of which came in the league, is a poor record for any striker, but for an expensive forward at a club aiming to win the title? Terrible.
The Prem top scorer for the calendar year of 2014, Bony initially couldn’t play for City due to African Cup of Nations duty and a summer bout of malaria came after a quiet start.
That stunted his hopes for the following year and the club learned their lesson, from then on turning their attention away from signing top players from smaller sides.

Pep Guardiola all-but confirms Sergio Aguero’s Barcelona transfer… and appears to let slip Lionel Messi will STAY

PEP GUARDIOLA all-but confirmed Sergio Aguero’s transfer to Barcelona and appeared to let slip that Lionel Messi will STAY. The Manchester City boss will lose his star striker this summer when Aguero’s contract expires next month.

And Guardiola seemed happy with the fact the Argentine will be moving to his former club, where he spent 15 years as a player then manager.
He told BBC: “Maybe I reveal a secret. Maybe he is close to agreeing a deal for the club of my heart – for Barcelona.
“He is going to be playing alongside the best player of all time, Messi.
“I’m pretty sure he is going to enjoy. And maybe Barcelona are stronger and stronger with him on the pitch.”
Guardiola’s comments come amid Messi’s uncertain future at Barca.
Aguero’s countryman pushed for a move away last summer but stayed to avoid dragging his boyhood club through the courts.
He is yet to sign a new deal, with his current set to expire at the end of June, with PSG and City among the interested clubs.
But after Joan Laporta replaced Josep Maria Bartomeu as Barca president, it sparked new hope Messi would stay.

Barca finished third in the table, seven points behind champions Atletico Madrid, but did win the Copa del Rey.
And Messi appeared to hint it was only the start of things to come as the Spanish giants ended their two-year trophy draught.
He said to Diario Ole: “The truth is that the recent Copa del Rey was special due to the period we were in, the club has gone a couple of years of not having a great time due to different results and titles.
Because it is a very young dressing room, with a lot of people, and new people, and this Copa del Rey for the dressing room was a turning point, and very important.

Man City join Man Utd in Danny Ings transfer chase if they fail in Harry Kane bid with Romelu Lukaku also a target

MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly interested in signing Southampton striker Danny Ings if they fail in their pursuit of Harry Kane.Pep Guardiola’s side are thought to be among the Premier League sides chasing Kane, with Manchester United and Chelsea also competing for the England captain who has recently expressed his intent to leave Tottenham.

But if that does not come off, The Athletic are reporting that Man City have the same idea as their local rivals Man Utd in signing fellow English forward Ings.
The Saints striker has impressed for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side since returning to the club following an unsuccessful spell with Liverpool.
After netting eight times during a loan period back at St Mary’s, Ings joined on a permanent deal at the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign.
And since then he has scored a tremendous 38 goals in 72 games for Southampton.
He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but may feel his options will be limited at the club after Edinson Cavani signed an extension to keep him there another season.
So Man City could be a better fit for Ings, with Sergio Aguero departing and Guardiola often playing without a recognised No9 for much of their title-winning campaign.
The Premier League champions are also said to be considering former Red Devils striker Romelu Lukaku as a secondary option to signing Kane.
The Inter Milan forward joined the Serie A giants from Man Utd in 2019 for £76.5million.

And he has been a revelation for the newly-crowned Italian champions.
Lukaku has scored 23 goals in Serie A this season, with only Cristiano Ronaldo netting more in Italy’s top flight.
However, it will take a hefty fee to tempt Inter to sell as he is still only 28 years old and his stock has risen since leaving Man Utd.

Man Utd ‘considering Harry Kane swap transfer by offering Jesse Lingard to Tottenham’ but striker ‘wants to join City’

MANCHESTER UNITED are considering offering Jesse Lingard to Tottenham as part of a deal for striker Harry Kane, according to reports. It was revealed by SunSport on Tuesday that the Red Devils and local rival Manchester City are preparing to hand the Spurs forward a five-year contract with a £300,000-a-week basic salary.

Lingard may be included in a deal that sees him join Spurs in the summerCredit: Getty
And now The Times are reporting that Lingard is being considered as a potential sweetener for Tottenham in a deal involving Kane.
However, Man Utd are also said to be cautious about attempting to negotiate with Lilywhites’ chairman Daniel Levy.
Man City is still thought to be Kane’s preferred destination if he is to depart North London this summer.
But the Premier League champions’ manager Pep Guardiola remained tight-lipped on any link to Kane when asked about the potential mega deal following his side’s defeat at Brighton.
He replied: “Next question, he is a Tottenham Hotspur player, please.”
Meanwhile, Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered a little more when he was asked whether they will be signing a striker.
The Norwegian said: “I can’t say we’re not signing a striker.
“We’re building towards a better squad. Hopefully we end up with a stronger squad when we start next season and be more  consistent to challenge the one in front of us.”

But when questioned specifically about Kane, Solskjaer shut the reporter down by adding: “I can’t talk about players that are in other teams.
“I think you know me well enough. I don’t think that’s very respectful of any team, any players.
“There are loads of good players out there. I could say Messi is interesting, and Ronaldo, but I can’t talk about them.”
Kane confirmed for a second time earlier this week his intent to leave Tottenham at the end of the 2020-21 campaign after the club’s poor season.
Spurs have missed out on Champions League qualification for the second season running and are also set to go another year without a trophy having lost the Carabao Cup final to Man City.
Yet despite his team’s disappointing campaign, Kane has had one of his best seasons in a white shirt.
The England captain has scored 32 goals and provided 16 assists for Tottenham.
His remarkable level of consistency – illustrated by the fact that he has scored 24 goals or more in each of the last seven seasons – has led to both Manchester clubs and Chelsea being interested in bringing him in.
Meanwhile, Lingard has rejuvenated his career with a wonderful loan spell at West Ham.
The England international, who was cutting a frustrated figure at Man Utd, joined the Hammers in January and has netted nine times in 14 games.
But if the Red Devils use him as part of a deal for Kane, he may not be able to secure a permanent transfer to West Ham in the summer.
