Phil Foden set to pocket massive £6MILLION in bonuses on top of new Man City salary… and more if he wins Ballon d’Or

PHIL FODEN will collect a staggering £6million bonus on top of his treble-your-money new deal. The forward is ready to sign fresh terms with Manchester City on a six-year contract worth a basic £200,000 a week — as SunSport revealed last month.

But that is only a part of the huge cash bonanza he stands to bank over the duration of his new agreement.
Foden, 22, will collect a cool £3m as soon as he puts pen to paper — and the same again staggered over the rest of the deal.
A series of incremental pay hikes of around £25,000 a week over each year will eventually take his pay close to £350k  a week — an eye- watering £18m in the final 12 months.
And the England ace can hit more jackpots if he triggers a string of other success-related clauses.

Foden is in line for a £150,000 bonus if he is nominated for the Ballon d’Or — £300k if he wins.
A similar amount is on offer for winning the Premier League Player of the Year, while appearing in 60 per cent of City’s games next season returns another decent pay day.
Foden’s immediate pay is still well behind the £375,000 weekly salary of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.
But City have worked hard on the heavily-incentivised deal to recognise the Stockport-born star’s elevated status.

At the moment Foden earns a basic wage of around £65,000, but has become a key figure for both club and country – and Etihad top brass were keen to acknowledge that.
City have raised more than £220m in outgoings since January, which has also seen Riyad Mahrez and Rodri pen new deals recently. More

And Bayern Munich winger Sane is on the shortlist despite his successful spell with the club’s noisy neighbours.
Sources say Bayern would be willing to cash in on Sane after his indifferent form since his £40m move from City in 2020.
Liverpool have also been linked with the Germany international, who has fallen down the pecking order after Bayern signed Reds star Sadio Mane earlier this summer.
As Sunsport reported, PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo, Wolves star Pedro Neto, Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma and Crystal Palace wideman Michael Olise are also on United’s radar.

But the willingness to consider a move for Sane is a sign of how urgently new boss Erik Ten Hag wants to bolster his forward line.
Carlos Tevez’s move directly from Old Trafford to the Etihad in 2009 caused bad blood between the local rivals.
City’s “Welcome To Manchester” billboards to hail the Tevez signing wound up Sir Alex Ferguson and United fans.
And the Argentinian star went on to win the FA Cup and Premier League with City.

He plans to speak again during the middle of the season and after six glittering years at the Etihad he could be tempted to put pen to paper on another contract.
Guardiola said: “I wouldn’t change my life here one second. It’s the seventh season already.
“We spoke with the club. Middle of the season, end of the season, we will talk again about how we feel and decide what’s best for the club.
“I said many times if they want it, I’d like to stay longer but at the same time I have to be sure.

“It’s not the second or third season, it’s many years already and I have to see how the players behave.
“I don’t want to be a problem, sometimes when you extend things and you force it it’s not good so we have to go through it and relax.
“This kind of situation happens in a natural way. We will see what happens during the season and how we feel and the best decision for the club is going to be taken.”
Meanwhile Guardiola, 51, has told Bernardo Silva he must bring a suitable offer to the table if he wants to leave.

Barca are keen to make an offer for the Portuguese international if they can get their finances in order, although he could reportedly cost more than £80million.
The former Monaco man is keen on a move nearer to his homeland and did not rule out a transfer when asked this summer.
Guardiola said: “I would love if Bernardo could continue here because he’s a special player for all of us in the locker room, but I don’t know what is going to happen.
“If he stays, it is perfect. If in the end he has to leave it is because football is like this, the clubs have an agreement, the player has the desire and I will not be the reason to stop the desire.
“When you are a football player your life is so short. You don’t realise and immediately it is over.
“At the same time. I’m just a little part of the club. What the club decides is okay for me.
“At the end, sometimes for the clubs, for the player, for the agent, for many reasons sometimes you have to divide our path.”

Shaun Goater reveals how Erling Haaland ran around the Man City creche as kid… and now he’s become superstar on pitch

SHAUN GOATER can still remember Erling Haaland running around the Manchester City crèche as a toddler. And the Maine Road legend believes scoring goals for Pep Guardiola’s champions will be kid’s stuff for the Norwegian new boy.

Goater was a team-mate of Haaland’s dad Alf Inge for Kevin Keegan’s City back in the early noughties.
Two decades on and the tot he used to see causing mischief around the players lounge is 6ft 5in and ready to terrorise Premier League defenders.
Goater – who is now back working at his former club as a youth team coach – believes Haaland jr’s return to the club is a ‘match made in heaven’.
He recalled: “When Alfie and I were team-mates, a lot of us had kids around the same age. My girls are a similar age to Erling.

“The players lounge at Maine Road became a bit of a crèche for the babies. All the kids would be running around, with their mums chasing after them.
“I remember young Erling being in there yeah.”
Goater reckons City’s new £51.4 million signing has grown into a man who shares many of the same qualities  as his father.
He said: “The one thing I remember is Alfie was a big sighing for us at the time and he brought real professionalism – the way he went about his football was next level.

“And I’m sure all those traits that his dad had have gone into his son – and a lot more besides.
“When you look at his dad’s qualities I’m not surprised he’s got a son that has become the world’s best striker.
“That’s why he was wanted by every club in Europe. We are pleased that we’ve got him and I’m very confident he will score goals.”
Alf Inge has been helping to represent his son during talks over his future and has been with him during his first weeks in Manchester.
Goater told Sunsport in the autumn he was willing to speak to his old mate if it helped his club get their man.
Yet in the end he didn’t need to as he always felt Haaland was destined for the Etihad.
He said: “I never actually spoke to him but I always felt quietly confident. I never had any doubts he’d come.
“Even if his dad hadn’t played for City I think it would have been an easy decision.
“Whenever anyone asked me I always said it was a no-brainer for him to come here.”
Goater believes City could have found the missing piece to help them finally crack the Champions League – and at a knockdown price too.
He added: “You talk about £51 million and you are probably looking at the best striker in the world – or one of them. It’s an absolute bargain.
“There was a period when I thought ‘do we really need a striker?’ because we were playing so well, the football was so beautiful.
“Everyone was scoring. But then the chance to get Haaland came and I’m all over that.
“There are times in games when I think a striker would love that cross, or to be in that position, to be slid through there.
“I think it’s a match made in heaven, I really do. I’m looking forward to it.
“We hope he can be the missing piece. His record in the Champions League is absolute quality.
“That will be what we are looking for – for him to deliver those goals in the key games.”

However, Barca have pulled another “economic lever” by securing a third loan against their future income.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, the loans, which have partly come from selling the club;s TV rights, have enabled the club to bring in a chunk of badly needed capital this summer.
It means they have pushed ahead with signings such as Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde and Raphinha.
Sport’s report also indicates personal terms are no issue between their camp and Silva’s.

But the Dutchman is reluctant to leave the Nou Camp despite the club issuing an ultimatum of him either leaving or taking a pay cut.
