Gomez is Pep Guardiola’s fourth signing of the summer – following Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega through the doors at the Etihad.
The Spanish U21 star had a medical with City over the weekend and was spotted at a Manchester hotel on Saturday.
Gomez will take the No21 shirt and fill the void left by Oleksandr Zinchenko after the Ukrainian ace left for Arsenal earlier this summer.
Speaking after making the move official, Gomez said it was a “dream come true” to join the Cityzens.

The left-back revealed: “I am incredibly proud and happy to have joined Manchester City.
“City are the best team in England and in Pep Guardiola I have a chance to learn and develop under the most outstanding manager in world football.
“To be able to be part of this club is a dream come true for me and something any young player would aspire to.
“The number of trophies City have won over the past few years has been incredible and the style of football the team plays under Pep is the most exciting in Europe.”

Gomez registered an impressive 15 assists in 49 games for Anderlecht last season.
His six goals in nine games for Spain U21 mean he will be a threat going forward from left-back.
And Gomez can’t wait to get started under Guardiola.
He continued: “Playing for and being guided by Pep and his coaches is going to be very special.
“I’ve heard so much about the City fans and how passionate they are, so I can’t wait to get started and to try and help the Club achieve even more.”
In signing Gomez, City have got themselves another boyhood fan to join Phil Foden and Haaland.
Gomez revealed he had a David Silva No21 shirt growing up – the same kit number he has taking after signing for the club.
He told Man City’s website: “Since we were kids, my brother really liked Manchester City. He passed me the like for Manchester City.
“When he went on a school trip to London, I asked him to buy me the Manchester City shirt with the name and number of David Silva. At that time, I was wearing the number 21 too.
“He was one of my favourite players in that position because when I was a kid I used to play in Silva’s position. That’s the story of the shirt and I have kept it well since.” More

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants Ilkay Gundogan to stay beyond next summer – but he’ll have to wait for new deal

PEP GUARDIOLA wants Ilkay Gundogan to stay at Manchester City past next summer but the German will have to be patient over a new deal.Gundogan, 31, is in the final 12 months of his £140,000-a-week contract and is keen to extend it.

City have no intention of letting him go but are in no rush to open talks.
That is despite Gundogan’s last club Borussia Dortmund being keen to take him back.
City plan to wait until he returns from World Cup duty before discussions begin, meaning the two parties are unlikely to meet before the new year.
The Etihad club do not see it as a risky strategy despite the fact Gundogan could go for nothing at the end of the season — and shining in Qatar would open more doors.

There is plenty of trust on both sides and Gundo, who is taking his coaching badges, could even end up with a coaching role at the Etihad down the line.
The German midfielder was boss Guardiola’s first  signing when he paid £20.4m for him in 2016.
In May, he cemented his cult-hero status  scoring twice against Aston Villa to clinch the title.
And he hit the opener in Saturday’s 4-0 romp over Bournemouth.

Only Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne have totalled more games under Guardiola than the 254 appearances clocked up by Gundogan.
It’s thought he’s in no hurry to decide his future but would like to stay.
City are also waiting to see if Barcelona come back in for playmaker Bernardo Silva. More

Fans are all saying the same thing as Bernardo Silva posts cryptic tweet as Barcelona transfer rumours swirl

MANCHESTER CITY fans believe Bernardo Silva could be on his way to Barcelona next week after the Portuguese playmaker posted a cryptic message on Twitter.Silva, 28, has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp since last summer.

But, Barcelona’s financial status has prevented a deal from ever being completed.
Now, after agreeing to sell their TV rights in order to raise funds, the La Liga giants could finally be in a position to commit to a bid.
Man City are claimed to be demanding a fee of around £80million for their midfield maestro, so Barca chiefs will have to pull out all the stops to push the deal across the line – especially after spending big on signing Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Joules Kounde.
However, City fans believe that Silva has already said his goodbyes to the club.

The Portugal international sent out a cryptic tweet to thank fans for their support after Man City’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
It read: “A great performance from the team and a fantastic atmosphere!
“I would also like to thank everyone at the stadium for those beautiful moments of love and support you guys showed me.”
Many City fans had the same thing to say about the ambiguous message.

One person replied: “Why does this sound like a goodbye?”
Another added: “Looks like a farewell message.”
A third said: “What are you trying to say?”
While other supporters begged him not to make the move, with one person writing: “I couldn’t believe the atmosphere when you came on yesterday, we sang your name nonstop for 20 minutes.
“We really want you to stay. The fans adore you and you’re one of the top players in one of the best teams on earth.
“Throwing that away to join that mess in Barcelona? Crazy.”
Another tweeted: “Thank you for those moments, Bernardo, thank you for everything.
“You did an excellent job during your time with Man City. Best of luck on your next trip.”
Silva joined Man City in a £43m transfer from Monaco five years ago.

Man City’s £50m striker Erling Haaland completed just TWO passes in 4-0 Bournemouth thrashing – and one was a kick-off

ERLING HAALAND completed just two passes against Bournemouth – by far the lowest total by a Manchester City player under Pep Guardiola. The first of Haaland’s meagre EIGHT touches in a 4-0 home win set up an Ilkay Gundogan opener… and his other pass kicked off the second half.

    ⏱ 19’ Assist for Gundogan⏱ 46’ Kick off😅 Erling Haaland only completed 2(!) passes in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth today😏 100% pass success rate though though…— WhoScored.com (@WhoScored) August 13, 2022

The Premier League’s star summer recruit went from invincible to invisible in just six days, with barely-believable stats.
And his shocking figures for passing were certainly not misleading as his overall match stats were just as miserable.
Haaland was a two-goal matchwinner on his debut at West Ham last Sunday but this time he had to wait 18 minutes to even touch the ball.
And by the time Julian Alvarez replaced him in the 74th minute with City 3-0 up, he had won NO duels on the ground or in the air.

The Norwegian, 22, also failed to complete a dribble or win a foul.
But Etihad chief Pep Guardiola blamed Haaland’s lack of involvement on Bournemouth’s defensive set-up.
The Spaniard said: “The most difficult job in the world is when you’re a striker vs a [defence] with three CMs, three CBs and you’re in the middle.
“We’ll find many of these but it’s a question of time. With the quality we have, we’ll find him.”

But however you look at it, even Guardiola must be staggered by Haaland’s stats as City are the Prem’s short-passing specialists.
Haaland’s two-pass compilation compares with the next worst total during Guardiola’s six-year reign of nine – registered once each by Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Ferran Torres.
But social media was split on the ex-Borussia Dortmund hero’s quiet afternoon – hardly surprising as it is just one game and the bigger picture is his incredible scoring record.
One fan claimed: “Haaland did exactly what was needed of him – he was Bournemouth’s sole focus the entire first half.
“They tried to mark him out of the game, which opened up space for de Bruyne, Foden, Mahrez, and Gundogan.”
And another noted that Inter Milan hitman Romelu Lukaku was lambasted for similar stats at the height of his Chelsea plight.
That supporter tweeted: “The media destroyed Lukaku for having 7 touches in a game, let’s see how they treat the golden boy Haaland for having 8 touches v newly promoted Bournemouth.” More

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Manchester City new left back will be Sergio Gomez as revealed earlier this week.

That follows the departures of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal and Raheem Sterling to Chelsea.
Silva has been an integral part of the squad in recent years as City romped to record-breaking Premier League success.

Aguero left the club last year and after a very brief stint at Barcelona had to retire at the end of last year due to heart issues.
Silva, 28, is just the latest star to be linked to Barca’s summer splurge and has previously refused to commit his future to Man City.
He told ESPN previously that he has no idea what will happen next.
He said: “I’ve always said that I’m happy here, but I have no idea what’s going to happen.
