Man Utd wage bill revealed with Dean Henderson set to take home same amount as Bruno Fernandes after new contract

DEAN HENDERSON is set to receive a bumper new contract – earning him the same amount as star man Bruno Fernandes.
SunSport revealed Henderson, 23, is on the verge of signing a mega new four-year Old Trafford deal worth £100,000 a week.

    2

The England goalkeeper only signed a new £60k-a-week deal last year and this new deal is a clear sign Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to battle David De Gea for the No1 spot.
His improved contract will also come with the option of a further 12 months, which can be activated at any time.
It also means United would be splashing out £550k a week just on their goalkeepers, with Spaniard De Gea earning £350k, Sergio Romero (£70k) and Lee Grant (£30k).
Henderson would equal winter signings Fernandes and Odion Ighalo as the club’s 11th highest paid players.

Mason Greenwood also received a pay rise during his breakthrough into the first team, having being offered £40,000-a-week.
It was revealed last season United had by far the biggest wage bill in the Premier League – paying more than double the division’s average.
The Old Trafford side paid out a staggering £352million on salaries – both players and other staff – during the course of the 2018/19 campaign.

That equated to a wages-to-revenue ratio of 56 per cent, as the club took in a total of £627m across the year.

In the previous season, 2017/18, United’s wage bill stood at £296m while revenue was £590m meaning the ratio was 50 per cent.
Last season 11 United stars earned more than £100,000 a week or more.

West Ham ‘ready to sell Issa Diop for £45m transfer fee’ and raise funds amid Man Utd interest in defender

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Issa Diop.
The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their defence this summer with a centre-half their main priority, potentially as a replacement for Victor Lindelof.

That has led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being linked with several names, including the West Ham star.
And now it appears they have been given the green light by the 23-year-old’s employers to make their move.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claims the Hammers are ready to cash in on the Frenchman.
Having saved the club from relegation, David Moyes is looking to rebuild the West Ham squad.

However, he needs to raise funds by selling first before any big-name arrivals.
Now it is claimed his side are “willing to listen to offers of £45m” for Diop.
United were first linked with a swoop a year ago but were put off the £75m valuation.
It is now believed that at least two other Premier League clubs want to sign him.

Diop is also looking to leave the London Stadium.
He earns less than half of most other first-team regulars at West Ham.
And the report states “a fresh start at a new club would bring a big increase on his £50,000 a week wages” is what he is looking for. More

Dybala could be offered to Man Utd AGAIN in swap transfer for Pogba as Juventus prioritise Cristiano Ronaldo

PAULO DYBALA could be offered to Manchester United again this summer, according to reports.
The Juventus forward, 26, may be used as part of a swap deal to take Paul Pogba back to Serie A.

According to Tuttosport, new Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo will prioritise keeping Cristiano Ronaldo happy.
The Portugal star has been tipped with a stunning Paris Saint-Germain transfer but ensuring he is the centre forward next season could see Dybala pushed out.
Reports earlier this week suggested Dybala was considering his future anyway because he is thought to be sick of being transfer listed.
He still has two years left to run on his current deal at the Allianz Stadium but it is thought negotiations have stalled over an extension.

Dybala reportedly wants £260,000 per week but Juve are only willing to go up to around £175,000 for a player they deem as important but certainly below Ronaldo in the pecking order.
He was heavily linked with a transfer last summer.
Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham and Manchester United were all interested – even though Dybala was not interested in joining either Premier League side.
The Red Devils were the most likely option with a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku on the cards.

This year, though, it could be a deal that sees Pogba head in the opposite direction instead.
The Frenchman, 27, spent one season alongside Dybala at Juve before his £89million return to Old Trafford in 2016.
He said last year he was ready for a new challenge but after an injury-hit season seems finally to be enjoying himself and performing consistently in a United shirt – helped by the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January.
Pirlo, though, is thought to be a big fan of his former team-mate.
However, Manchester City and Real Madrid have both been tipped to make summer swoops for Dybala, too.

Dybala – currently on holiday with some of his team-mates – scored 17 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions last season as Juventus won the Serie A title for the ninth year in a row.
But there was heartbreak in the Coppa Italia final and Champions League last 16 with defeats to Napoli and Lyon.
However, on a personal note, the season ended in happy fashion for the popular Argentina international – who spent 46 days in isolation due to coronavirus – because he was named Serie A’s MVP.

De Gea defends position at Man Utd by insisting ‘I trust in myself’ as pressure mounts for Dean Henderson to return

DAVID DE GEA has defended his position at Manchester United, insisting “I am still the number one”.
The Spanish goalkeeper has come under pressure this season after a number of calamitous errors not least in the FA Cup semi-final.

He got the nod over Sergio Romero for the Europa League semi-final on Sunday and conceded twice as United went down 2-1 to Sevilla.
But De Gea said: “I trust in myself.
“I have shown my qualities all the years. So I will just stay available for the manager.

“I’m always ready to play and try to help the team, as I have always done.”
There have been calls for Dean Henderson to be made the number one after he returned from two successful seasons on loan at Sheffield United.
Henderson also wants to be assured by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or will insist on leaving either on loan or in a permanent deal.

    3

De Gea has just completed his ninth season with the club but has just four trophies to his name during that time – a Premier League title, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League.

Another campaign has now passed with United empty-handed following their defeat to Sevilla.
It is the first time they have gone three seasons without a trophy in 30 years.
And De Gea believes a lack of experience in Solskjaer’s young team cost them at the semi-final stage of a competition for the third time this season.
De Gea said: “We deserve to be in the final, if we are honest.
“But maybe we need a bit of experience, more experience on the team, but we have to score the chances. That was the point for us.”

De Gea still believes there are plenty of positives from the season not least in hunting down both Chelsea and Leicester to claim third place in the league
He said: “I think we improved this season. We were 14 points behind the third position in the Premier League and we finished third at the end.
“I think we are playing very good football, attacking football.
“Let’s keep improving, let’s keep fighting for this club and let’s try to win trophies next season.”

Promising Man Utd youngster Aliou Traore, 19, completes loan transfer to Ligue 2 side Stade Malherbe Caen

MANCHESTER UNITED youngster Aliou Traore has completed a season-long loan deal to join French side SM Caen.
The Red Devils teenager has headed back to his homeland in search of regular first-team football with the Ligue 2 outfit.

The 19-year-old Frenchman can play either in central midfield or in wide areas.
He has impressed since his 2017 move from Paris Saint-Germain and scored four goals in 14 appearances for United U23s as they earned promotion last season.
Traore will wear the number 15 shirt at Caen, who finished 13th in France’s second division last term after being relegated from Ligue 1 in 2019.
The highly-rated youngster is yet to feature for United’s first-team and recently admitted he was ready to make the jump.

Traore told RMC Sport: “I have become a more complete player in three years.
“I have put on a fair amount of muscle and I am stronger physically, I have become better tactically…I think that I am a player who is ready for professional football.
“In terms of how I have progressed, I am happy with my three years. But at the same time I imagined that I would already be a bit further ahead. Playing and training more regularly with the first-team squad.
“Now, these three years must enable me to play at the professional level. I’ve acquired a background at the youth academy in Manchester that I want to use at a higher level now.

“I hope that happens in Manchester, if not then why not go and get playing time elsewhere. But if I leave, it is for a first team. I do not want to leave Manchester to be in the same situation elsewhere.”

Traore has become the latest United youngster to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Tahith Chong is training with Werder Bremen ahead of his expected loan move to the Bundesliga next season.
While Angel Gomes joined Lille on a permanent deal before he was immediately loaned back out to Portuguese side Boavista.

Man Utd considering transfer bid for Douglas Costa but concerned over Juventus winger’s poor injury record

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly considering a move for Juventus winger Douglas Costa.
Sky Sport Italia claim the Red Devils have been a fan of the Brazilian for several years but have concerns over his injury record.

Costa, who turns 30 next month, recently revealed he considered quitting football due to his fitness issues.
The Juve ace has suffered 18 different major injuries during his career – including a calf problem that ruled him out for nearly four months last season.
Costa has made just seven Serie A starts this term and has struggled to replicate his best form since his move from Bayern Munich.
He is one of the main players who is set to be sold to raise funds for new Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo this summer.

Costa, who has registered ten goals and 21 assists in 101 games for the Old Lady, remains under contract in Turin until 2022.
United still hope to sign Jadon Sancho this summer but Borussia Dortmund aim to keep him for a bidding war this time next year.
And former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson claimed that Costa would represent a good alternative to the England attacker.
He told ESPN FC: “If you’re looking for a right-sided player that can come in on to his left foot and get crosses in and get shots away and link up with the front player, he’s an excellent player.

“He hasn’t really done anywhere near as well at Juventus as people thought he would.

“He’s had his injury problems, he’s had his disciplinary problems, he got sent off earlier on in the season, but on his day he’s still an excellent player and I don’t think he’s been given the opportunities that he would have hoped for.
“When he was at Bayern Munich he was a magnificent player and I think if he went to Manchester United, he could rediscover that form.
“So I think he would be a good alternative.”

Man Utd star Andreas Pereira set to leave club with Benfica leading transfer chase ahead of German and Spanish rivals

ANDREAS PEREIRA is set to leave Manchester United this summer with old club Benfica leading the chase for his signature.
The 24-year-old Brazilian moved to Old Trafford from the Lisbon giants in 2012.

During eight years in England, he has only made 75 first-team appearances.
And he has found it even harder to get opportunities since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January.
Despite starting half of United’s Premier League games this campaign, the Portuguese star’s signing has pushed him back down the pecking order.
Now The Times claims Benfica are ready to swoop to bring Pereira back during the summer window.

However, they also state clubs from Germany and LaLiga are also keen on the star.
Pereira has only started twice since Fernandes joined but he remains under contract until 2023.
However, with his last appearance coming in February in the Europa League against Club Brugge, it seems he knows the writing is on the wall.
He could also be joined out of the United exit door by Chris Smalling.

Even though the defender has no interest in signing for Newcastle, whose boss Steve Bruce had made him his No1 transfer target, Roma are desperate to secure his services.
The £20m-rated defender also has Juventus and Inter chasing his services. More

Man Utd defender Chris Smalling snubs £20m transfer to Newcastle with Roma and Juventus still keen

CHRIS SMALLING reportedly has “no interest” in joining Newcastle this summer.
The defender was deemed surplus to requirements by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last summer and was shipped off to Roma on a season-long loan.

He shone in Serie A as he made 30 league appearances and even managed three goals and two assists.
His form saw him dubbed “Smalldini” in reference to Italian legend Paolo Maldini.
Roma are desperate to keep the former Fulham man, who will miss out on their Europa League quest this month, but have been put off by United’s £20m asking price.
Juventus have also been linked with a swoop for Smalling.

This weekend it was claimed Newcastle boss Steve Bruce had made the star his No1 transfer target.
However, the Daily Mail claims the ace has zero intentions of moving to the North East.
Smalling still has two years left on his £120,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford.
But he is desperate to join Roma full-time and is even willing to take a pay cut to make that happen.

Inter Milan are another Serie A club keen on bringing Smalling back to Italy.
Their boss Anotonio Conte has already raised the Red Devils for Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young over the past year.
Now he appears to want Smalling to join his old united team-mates at the San Siro. More
