Man Utd new boy Facundo Pellistri already planning Old Trafford exit despite only sealing £9m transfer on deadline day

NEW Manchester United signing Facundo Pellistri is already planning to leave the club.
The 18-year-old joined United in a £9million move from Uruguayan outfit Penarol on deadline day – signing a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Pellistri has already spoken of his desire to return to Penarol one day but is eager to get started in the Premier League.
Pellistri told Telemundo: “It is incredible that just over a year ago I made my debut in first team.
“It was unimaginable and to play in the first division with Penarol and now to play for Manchester United, I would never have dreamed of it and it is something very emotional for me and my family.

“There was a lot of talk about the two transfers and luckily they tried to leave me out as much as possible so I would to go crazy.

“First came Lyon and then Manchester United and I am very happy with the opportunity.
“It’s a league that I always watch with my parents, seeing the great teams and you can’t imagine going to play there.
“Now that I have the chance to play there, I’m eager to start new adventure and see how the rhythm is and if it is as intense as they say.
“It is the biggest club, I’ve come through the youth system, I was at the club for more than seven years, I lived everything, many experiences, very nice things like debuting at the Campeon del Siglo stadium [Penarol’s home stadium] among others.

    2

“It was a dream and a pleasure to play for the team. I am leaving with a lot of desire to return one day.”
Pellistri made 37 appearances for Penarol after making his professional debut in August 2019.
The winger flew to Manchester on Friday to join up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Man Utd’s most expensive teen signings revealed as Amad Diallo could cost over £37m – but won’t become priciest

AMAD DIALLO will become one of Manchester United’s most expensive teenagers after a deal was agreed to sign the starlet.
Atalanta have accepted an offer for the winger, 18, to join the Red Devils for an initial £18million.

    5

However the deal could reach a total of £37m if an array of add-on clauses are met.
Personal terms and a work permit are still to be completed before the youngster moves in January, with Atalanta retaining a 15 per cent sell-on fee.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been desperate to sign a wide attacker throughout the window, targeting Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

In the end, he settled on Uruguayan talent Facundo Pellistri and free agent striker Edinson Cavani alongside Diallo.

Reports suggest Pellistri, also 18, will be thrown in at the deep end when he gets settled in Manchester with a first-team spot a possibility amid United’s early-season struggles.
And it was in similar circumstances which the club signed its most expensive teenager to date.
Robin van Persie’s exit in the summer of 2015, combined with the underwhelming arrival of Memphis Depay, forced Louis van Gaal into the market for a striker.
On deadline day, a deal worth £57.6m was agreed with Monaco for 19-year-old forward Anthony Martial.

That fee was never reached, with only £36m handed over initially and three add-ons agreed.
Only one of those clauses was met as Martial reached 25 goals in his first four years at Old Trafford, while he failed to reach 25 France caps or win the Ballon d’Or by 2019.
Diallo will land at slightly below that fee even if he fulfills all of his bonus clauses, which would make him United’s second highest teen purchase.
Luke Shaw was the most expensive teenager in the world when brought in from Southampton for £30m, weeks before his 19th birthday.
After two impressive seasons in the Premier League at St Mary’s, the left-back has made just 142 appearances as he begins his seventh campaign in Manchester.
Injury problems and inconsistent form have stunted the England international’s progression under a number of managers, with Solskjaer signing Alex Telles on deadline day to replace him.
Next on the list is Wayne Rooney who signed for £25.6m from Everton in 2004.
On reflection, the Red Devils probably got their money’s worth from the striker, who left aged 31 with five Premier League titles, a Champions League and 253 goals in 559 appearances.

Anderson also collected a hefty amount of silverware at Old Trafford in his eight years at the club.
A relative unknown when signed for £20m in 2007, the Brazilian will become United’s fifth-most expensive teenager if Diallo triggers any of his add-ons.
But the midfielder was rarely a first-team regular and struggled to find form after leaving England, announcing his retirement last year at the age of 31.

Man Utd ‘demanded Pellistri was put in bubble’ ahead of transfer as Penarol begged for teen loan return

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly demanded new signing Facundo Pellistri was put in a bubble as they rejected Penarol’s pleas to keep the youngster on loan.
The Red Devils secured the signing of 18-year-old Pellistri on a five-year deal on deadline day.

🇺🇾 Another Uruguayan arrives at Old Trafford…✍️ Welcome to #MUFC, Facundo Pellistri!
    — Manchester United (@ManUtd) October 5, 2020

The winger completed a £9million move from the Uruguayan club with the option for an extra year.
He was one of FOUR last-minute swoops, including fellow Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Amad Traore.
But Penarol’s vice president Rodolfo Cantino revealed the club begged to hold on to their young sensation until January.
Cantino told Referi: “We tried in every way but they argued that they wanted the player now.

In the negotiation they asked me if I could guarantee them if he was in the bubble because they need him.
    Rodolfo CantinoPenarol vice president

“It’s normal, when a European club buy a player, they travel immediately.
“Pellistri goes straight to the first team. Going to play.
“In the negotiation they asked me if I could guarantee them if he was in the bubble because they need him.
“Then it will be a matter of the manager if he uses him.”

Pellistri certainly seems to be in boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans after being included in the club’s Champions League squad.
And the club are wary of Covid-19 protocols after it was revealed Cavani is set to miss the Premier League clash against Newcastle on October 17.
Having continued to live among the Parisian public after his PSG contract expired at the end of June, Cavani has not been in a sports bubble and does not receive the special exemption to quarantine rules afforded to elite athletes.
However, the club are desperately trying to find a loophole to get him out of the restrictions – failing that he could make an emotional debut in the Champions League against his old side.

Man Utd star Paul Pogba confirms he’d like Real Madrid transfer ‘one day’ but insists he’s happy at Old Trafford

PAUL POGBA has reiterated he ‘dreams of playing for Real Madrid one day’ as he cast further doubt over his Manchester United future.
The Frenchman, however, did insist he is happy at Old Trafford for now with the transfer window closing earlier this week.

But Pogba opened another can of worms surrounding his club career while away on international duty.
The midfielder, 27, said: “I am at Manchester. We know that this has been spoken about a lot and I have not [spoken about it].
“I heard a lot of noise that I was going to leave and I was going to leave to clubs left and right.
“Today, I am still at Manchester United and I am fighting to try to take the club even higher.

“We have all heard these things that have been said. What to respond?

“Yes, all footballers would like to play for Real Madrid. Maybe it is a dream. It is a dream for me, why not one day?
“As I have said, I am at Manchester United and I like my club.
“I am performing at Manchester United, I am enjoying myself and I want to do everything I can to get the club back to where it deserves to be.

“I am going to give my maximum, like my teammates. I prefer to concentrate on football and on returning to fitness.”

Pogba revealed in 2019 he is ready for a new challenge with a switch to Real the most likely destination for the midfielder.
Zinedine Zidane would love to work with the £89million United No6 at the Bernabeu – but after a season disrupted by injuries and coronavirus, he stayed put this summer.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola previously suggested a transfer was very much on the cards for his client with Juventus linked with their former star.
And the World Cup winner insisted there have been no discussions over a new contract at Old Trafford despite his current deal expiring next summer – although United do have a 12-month extension option.

Nobody has said anything to me. I have not spoken with Ed Woodward. I have not been spoken to about an extension.
    Paul Pogba

Pogba, who has started all three Premier League games this season and scored in the Carabao Cup win over Brighton, added: “Nobody has said anything to me. I have not spoken with Ed Woodward.
“I have not been spoken to about an extension. For the moment, I am at Manchester United and I am thinking above all to hit my top form.
“I think that there will be a moment where the club comes to speak to me and maybe offers me something, or not.
“For the moment, nothing has happened. I cannot tell you something that I know nothing about.
“I am really thinking about me, to come back well and to produce great performances for my club.”

Jadon Sancho remains Man Utd’s No1 transfer target for January as Borussia Dortmund refuse to budge on £108m fee

JADON SANCHO reportedly remains Manchester United’s No1 transfer target for the January window after Borussia Dortmund refused to shift from their £108million asking price.
Fredrik A. Filtvedt of Norwegian outlet Daglabedt TV reports Sancho is still top of the bill on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s shopping wishlist going into the next window.

    2

Sancho, 20, was the Norwegian boss’ priority signing in the summer window but the Red Devils failed to strike a deal with Dortmund.
The Bundesliga outfit made it clear they wanted £108m for the England star.
But United persisted with low-ball offers and suggested £70m up front with the potential for a fee to rise to £100m based on future achievements.

Old Trafford bosses held firm on their view they could not stump up more given the climate of the coronavirus pandemic.

United also missed clear deadlines put in place by BVB for a deal to be signed off.
Reports even suggested United’s opening offer to Sancho was LOWER than his current salary.
Personal terms were thought to have been agreed in September with the England man and his representatives but negotiations were not able to overcome the difference in valuation.
A combined £227m cost for Sancho’s wages and fee proved too much to get a deal done before Monday’s deadline.

Man Utd ‘ready to complete bargain Dayot Upamecano transfer next summer as release clause drops to £36.5m’

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly ready to sign Dayot Upamecano for a bargain £36.5million next summer.
Sport Bild reports the RB Leipzig centre-back’s release clause will drop to the figure next year, potentially sparking a transfer battle.

    2

The Frenchman was being monitored by a host of Europe’s top clubs during the summer transfer window.
His old contract had a release clause of £54m and would have expired next summer.
But after nobody paid up, Upamecano signed a new deal until 2023 with the reduced release clause coming into force in 2021.

The 21-year-old impressed during Leipzig’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last term.

Upamecano bagged man of the match in a sensational display in the quarter-final win over Atletico Madrid.
The report states United will face competition from rivals Liverpool who are also interested in bringing Upamecano to the Premier League.
Manchester City were previously linked with his signature, but after splashing over £100m on Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias, Upamecano is very unlikely to make his way to the Etihad.
Leipzig are thought to be resigned to losing their hot prospect at the end of this season.

    2

How Man Utd could have lined-up if they’d signed Solskjaer’s top targets

The German club signed Josko Gvardiol from Dinamo Zagreb this summer and have earmarked him to fill Upamecano’s slot after loaning him back to the Croatian side for this season.
The Red Devils are desperate to strengthen at the back after the humiliating 6-1 defeat by Spurs at Old Trafford.
Skipper Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly both made blunders as United shipped four goals in the first-half of a Prem game for the first time ever.
Upamecano’s lightning pace could complement £85m England ace Maguire – who ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan likened to an ‘ocean liner’.

Edinson Cavani set for emotional Man Utd debut against old club PSG as he will miss Newcastle clash while in quarantine

EDINSON CAVANI could make his Manchester United debut in an emotional clash with old side Paris Saint-Germain.
Uruguayan striker Cavani, 33, joined United in a free transfer worth £200,000 a week on deadline day after leaving PSG when his contract expired at the end of June.

    1

And The Times reports that because he has continued to live in Paris, he will have to quarantine for 14 days in line with government regulations for anyone arriving into the UK from France.
The exemption for elite athletes only applies if players are coming from a secure bubble environment where they are tested regularly.
New left-back Alex Telles has been in a bubble with Porto and therefore is available to link-up immediately with his new team-mates.

Cavani has been living among the public and United are said to be seeking further clarification on the matter.

If he is house-bound for a fortnight Cavani would not be allowed out before the Red Devils’ Premier League trip to Newcastle on October 17.
United’s options up front will already be limited with Anthony Martial serving a three-match ban after being sent-off for slapping Erik Lamela in the 6-1 drubbing by Spurs.
But Cavani would be available for PSG away in the Champions League group stage on October 20.
He could be used from the bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having not played since March.

Man Utd’s transfer window was farcical at times but Solskjaer must take blame for disastrous start to season

MANCHESTER UNITED’S protracted and unsuccessful pursuit of Jadon Sancho was nothing short of farcical – but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must take the blame for the appalling start to the season.
The board didn’t help the Red Devils during the extended summer transfer window.

    4

    4

At some point, the blame must be attributed to Ole Gunnar SolskjaerCredit: PA:Press Association

The mayhem in the final hours of the window only highlights how poorly the club is being run.
Edinson Cavani was a free agent and could have joined the club much earlier in the window – so why not?
Sure, he’s an upgrade on Odion Ighalo.
But he’s not the Cavani of five years ago and the fear is that he turns out to be more like Radamel Falcao than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Uruguayan has also been given the famous No7 jersey that was supposedly being reserved for Sancho. Again, this looks messy.
Then there’s the ‘successful’ pursuit of Alex Telles, a full-back Solskajer has chased for a while.
But again, the final price that was agreed, could and should have been concluded much earlier.
The two other signings – Facundo Pellistri from Club Atletico Penarol, and Amad Traore from Atalanta – are youngsters with potential.

Diallo is not expected to join up with his new team until January.
But these are off the field and circumstances Solskjaer probably can’t control.
What he has been able to control is the first three Premier League games of the season, which as the league table already shows, haven’t been good enough.
A 3-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace was followed by a lucky win against Brighton.
Then, of course, there’s the 6-1 home humiliation at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham.
Now they were NOT the fault of the board, but of the manager and coaches that pick the side.
Harry Maguire has returned as captain and in his first three games looked worse than during the final period of last season.

    4

Man Utd’s chase of Jadon Sancho was embarrassingly poorCredit: Getty Images – Getty

    4

The signing of Edinson Cavani smells a little bit like a panic-buy
The England man is struggling and needs to concentrate on defending rather than organising – something that clearly doesn’t come naturally to him.
Maguire’s usual partner Victor Lindelof was dropped against Tottenham.
But if the defence is struggling so much, why allow Chris Smalling to leave for Roma?
In midfield, the talented Donny van de Beek has had to watch on while Paul Pogba’s poor form has continued.
There also appears to be an issue with Marcus Rashford, who – despite a decent performance against Brighton – still doesn’t look to be free from his inconsistent period.
The side that started the game against Spurs at Old Trafford was pretty much the side that guided United to third place in the Premier League – and the Champions League football that comes with it.
Yes, the board could have done more, but Solskjaer hasn’t delivered either in the early part of the season.
It feels like we’re here again with the Norwegian and discussions about his future.
But, it’s different now, because the competition is greater for a top-four finish.
While Mauricio Pochettino is out of work and Solskjaer is under-performing, the intense pressure will always be on.
