Man Utd outcast Sergio Romero begs club to let him quit following summer transfer window hell

SERGIO ROMERO has begged Manchester United to let him leave after his transfer window hell.
The Argentine goalkeeper, 33, was desperate to quit Old Trafford, with Everton holding talks over a deal.

Sergio Romero has begged Man Utd to let him quit the club

Romero has fallen behind David De Gea and now Dean Henderson in the pecking order after his successful Sheffield United loan.
His wife even pleaded with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to let her husband go in a blistering social media tirade.
Reports claim Romero and his wife were left fuming after finding out Everton had been willing to pay Romero’s full £100,000-a-week pay-packet.
The keeper has now held talks with United and his reps and asked to get him a switch away to get regular action.

It is understood the outcast stopper does not want any sort of pay-off from the club, despite being owed around £1.5m.
He wants to be released from his contract by the end of the month, and fancies a switch stateside to Major League Soccer.
If United refuse to let him go, Romero will see out the final few months of his deal, which runs out next summer.
He will then sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January, with a number already interested in him.

SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this year how Romero was unhappy with his situation after Henderson’s return.
He was No2 at the club at the time, but the 33-year-old has barely got a look in at all since.
The ex-Monaco ace has made just seven Premier League appearances since joining the club back in 2015.

Man Utd outcast Juan Mata ‘rejected £200,000-a-week deal from Saudi Arabian club to stay and fight for place’

JUAN MATA reportedly rejected a lucrative £200,000-a-week deal from Saudi Arabia to stay and fight for a place at Manchester United.
Spanish outlet Sport reports the midfielder, 32, snubbed a big-money move to the Middle East, preferring to remain at Old Trafford for the last year of his contract.

Mata turned down a £40,000 pay rise as the former Chelsea star reels in £160,000 a week at Old Trafford.
The unnamed Saudi club improved on their initial rejected offer but it was not enough to tempt Mata away.
His contract runs until 2021 and Mata reckons he has plenty more to offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Mata made the £37million switch from Stamford Bridge in 2014 and has played a key role in United’s domestic and European success since.

But Solskjaer is yet to use the World Cup winner in the Premier League this season.
Mata was not used in the 6-1 thrashing by Spurs at Old Trafford before the international break.
United have the likes of new boy Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba, Fred, Bruno Fernandes and Nemanja Matic all fighting for places.
Mata appears to be down the pecking order with Solskjaer leaning towards a more youthful model at United.

    2

Despite barely featuring for the Red Devils, boss Solskjaer acknowledges the benefits of having an experienced player like Mata at the club.
Solskjaer said: “His composure and experience [is vital] for a young team, I think he created more or less every moment in this game that was of the highest quality in an attacking sense.
“He is a very valuable member of the squad and a top professional. It is never easy to tell him when he’s not playing.
“He has had a fantastic career, he has won whatever there is to win more or less.
“He is an example for everyone to look at, how you conduct yourself and how you perform when you get the chance.”

Man Utd star Paul Pogba ‘interested’ in Barcelona transfer as skint Spanish giants eye shock free swoop for midfielder

PAUL POGBA is ‘interested’ in a shock free transfer to skint Barcelona, according to shock reports.
The Frenchman’s Manchester United future remains unclear with just one year left to run on his current contract – although the Red Devils do have a 12-month extension clause.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are hoping to take advantage by landing Pogba for nothing next summer.
The LaLiga side are struggling for cash and were unable to spend big in the transfer window this summer as a result.
So the report suggests they will make a swoop for the World Cup winner, 27, with a Bosman agreement able to be arranged as early as January.

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba is also out of contract at the end of the season and is another target for Barca – although Juventus appear favourites to sign the Austrian.

Pogba is thought to be a big admirer of the Nou Camp outfit and would be open to a move.
He revealed in 2019 he is ready for a new challenge but a switch to Real Madrid was the most likely destination for the midfielder.
But Pogba opened another can of worms surrounding his club career while away on international duty by declaring it a ‘dream’ to play for Los Blancos.
The midfielder said: “I heard a lot of noise that I was going to leave and I was going to leave to clubs left and right.

“Today, I am still at Manchester United and I am fighting to try to take the club even higher.
“Yes, all footballers would like to play for Real Madrid. Maybe it is a dream. It is a dream for me, why not one day?”
Pogba, who has started all three Premier League games this season and scored in the Carabao Cup win over Brighton, added on his contract renewal: “Nobody has said anything to me. I have not spoken with Ed Woodward.
“I have not been spoken about an extension. For the moment, I am at Manchester United and I am thinking above all to hit my top form.
“I think that there will be a moment where the club comes to speak to me and maybe offers me something, or not.
“For the moment, nothing has happened.” More

Sergio Romero and wife fuming with Man Utd after rejecting Everton’s £2m loan transfer and offer to pay entire wages

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Sergio Romero is reportedly fuming with the club after they blocked a potential move to Everton.
The Toffees were keen to bring in the Argentine shot-stopper on loan to provide competition for Jordan Pickford, but the Red Devils rejected their approach.

Romero – who has just one year left on his contract at Old Trafford – has fallen down the pecking order following Dean Henderson’s return.

And the 33-year-old is understood to have been desperate to compete for regular first team football having not featured in the Premier League since the 2017-18 season.
According to The Athletic, Everton had a £2million loan offer turned down for the ex-Samporia star.
The Merseyside outfit were even prepared to cover his £100,000-a-week wages, but United are seeking £8m in order to get Romero off their books.

His failed transfer has away has angered Romero, with the shot-stopper also furious having not been told he would be omitted from United’s Champions League squad.
Lee Grant was included instead as the club’s third-choice – showing further proof he has no future at the Theatre of Dreams.
Having been part of the squad since 2015, Romero’s wife Eliana slammed United on Instagram last week stating he deserves more respect.
She wrote: “Sergio Romero worked hard for his club.

Romero’s wife Eliana slammed United for rejecting Everton’s bid

“Last trophy they won, they lifted it with him.
“He helped the team reach four finals/semi-finals and then he was on the bench, only to lose them all.
“It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go. RESPECT FOR ONCE!!!! [sic].”
ESPN have stated that even United players have expressed their disappointment to the way their team-mate has been treated.
A move to the MLS could still be on the horizon with a number of clubs believed to be keen on signing him ahead of their October 29 deadline.

How Man Utd could replace Pogba with Eduardo Camavinga thanks to failed transfer talks over Ousmane Dembele

Pogba’s deal expires next summer, but United do have the option to extend it for another season.

But according to Spanish newspaper AS, plans are being drawn up to prepare for the 27-year-old’s departure.
And Rennes starlet Camavinga has emerged as a potential long-term replacement.
United have ‘put in place the mechanism’ to sign Camavinga – and it started by already dealing with his agent.

Camavinga is managed by Mousa Sissoko, who also looks after Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.

While United failed in their loan bid for Dembele on deadline day, it is being reported that ‘a foundation’ was laid to explore the possibility to sign Camavinga.
The 17-year-old’s current deal at Rennes expires in 2022.
Real Madrid were believed to be the frontrunners for the signature of Camavinga – but with a holding interest in Pogba, any move for the teen may be scrapped.
Juventus are also keen on a reunion with Pogba having bought and then sold him to United.

Football expert Fabrizio Romano claimed on a podcast that Pogba probably would have been a Juve player this summer had it not been for the coronavirus.
And Romano believes the pandemic, which is causing a cash crisis across the continent, made a summer bid for the France international ‘impossible’.
Last week Camavinga scored a stunning overhead kick in his first start for France.
It only took the 17-year-old prospect nine minutes to register as his country demolished Ukraine 7-1 in a friendly.
In a flash of quick thinking, the youngster readjusted his body and flicked the ball over his head in a brilliant overhead kick.
The Ukrainian defence were left stunned as Camavinga celebrated his moment of genius.

Man Utd youngster Facundo Pellistri already planning Old Trafford exit despite only sealing £9m transfer on Deadline Day

NEW Manchester United signing Facundo Pellistri is already planning to leave the club.
The 18-year-old joined United in a £9million move from Uruguayan outfit Penarol on deadline day – signing a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Pellistri has already spoken of his desire to return to Penarol one day but is eager to get started in the Premier League.
Pellistri told Telemundo: “It is incredible that just over a year ago I made my debut in first team.
“It was unimaginable and to play in the first division with Penarol and now to play for Manchester United, I would never have dreamed of it and it is something very emotional for me and my family.

“There was a lot of talk about the two transfers and luckily they tried to leave me out as much as possible so I would to go crazy.

“First came Lyon and then Manchester United and I am very happy with the opportunity.
“It’s a league that I always watch with my parents, seeing the great teams and you can’t imagine going to play there.
“Now that I have the chance to play there, I’m eager to start new adventure and see how the rhythm is and if it is as intense as they say.
“It is the biggest club, I’ve come through the youth system, I was at the club for more than seven years, I lived everything, many experiences, very nice things like debuting at the Campeon del Siglo stadium [Penarol’s home stadium] among others.

    2

“It was a dream and a pleasure to play for the team. I am leaving with a lot of desire to return one day.”
Pellistri made 37 appearances for Penarol after making his professional debut in August 2019.
The winger flew to Manchester on Friday to join up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

How Man Utd star De Gea fell out with Jorge Mendes over failed Real Madrid transfer and ‘frustrating’ contract talks

MANCHESTER UNITED star David De Gea has reportedly fallen out with his former agent Jorge Mendes.
The Athletic claim the pair’s relationship first started to break down over the Spaniard’s botched move to Real Madrid in 2015.

De Gea almost moved to Real five years ago before the deal collapsed as the paperwork was not lodged in time due to a fax problem.
The keeper hails from the Spanish capital and started his career at rivals Atletico Madrid before moving to Old Trafford in 2011.
And De Gea is said to have been left ‘exasperated’ with Cristiano Ronaldo’s super-agent by his own failed switch to the Bernabeu.

Mendes was still tasked with sorting the 29-year-old’s £375,000-a-week United extension in September 2019.

But the pair’s relations have reportedly been severely damaged by a dispute during the final stage of the 18-month negotiations.
The lengthy talks allegedly saw De Gea become ‘frustrated’ with Mendes.
The eventual contract then had the Portuguese ignored on the final FA paperwork in favour of the player’s family lawyer, Jose Bouzas Aragon.
The deal also caused De Gea to fall out with his mentor Emilio Alvarez, who’d been with him since his Atletico days – after he put pen to paper behind his back.

And things have continued to go against the Spanish International since agreeing to stay at United following a series of high profile errors.
Fans had called for him to be dropped after another horror show of an evening in the 3-1 FA Cup semi-final loss against Chelsea in July.
A month before that De Gea gained the unwanted title of being the most error-prone goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Man Utd ‘going nowhere’ after deadline panic buys, while Arsenal transfer business was unbelievable, claims Paul Merson

PAUL MERSON believes Manchester United are “going nowhere” after making the last-minute addition of Edinson Cavani.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker, 33, signed as a free agent on deadline day to bolster the Red Devils’ attack.

While Cavani has bagged 250 goals in Serie A and Ligue 1 throughout a lethal career, there are fears he is a spent force.
And former Arsenal and England midfielder Merson, 52, does not think the Uruguayan will guide United to success.
He wrote in the Star: “Edinson Cavani is an underwhelming signing for Manchester United that shows they are going nowhere.

“He’s been available on a free transfer since I don’t know when, and I don’t think they got beaten by Tottenham because they can’t put the ball in the net.

“Having a man sent off in that game just gave them an excuse. They were already all over the shop defensively.
“It’s hard to play for a big club when you haven’t got any pace and their centre-backs have none.
“I thought they were a shoe-in for the top four before the season started but until they get some legs in that back four I don’t see where they are going.
“They have opened the door for teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton to finish in the top four this season.

    3

“I don’t think they are a top four club at the moment. They can’t defend for toffee, and they let Chris Smalling go to Roma. He would probably get in the team right now.
“Cavani feels like a Quick Fix. But he’s probably not even that if I’m being honest. I don’t see him being the difference.”
United completed much of their transfer business on deadline day, adding Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri to earlier signing Donny van de Beek.
Atalanta winger Amad Diallo is set to arrive in January after the club missed out on Jadon Sancho.
Merson feels the Red Devils are heading in the opposite direction to Arsenal on the pitch.
The Gunners have attracted criticism, including from Merson, for their handling of Gunnersaurus mascot man Jerry Quy’s sacking.
But the £45million signing of Thomas Partey was praised by the ex-midfielder as a real coup.

Merson added: “I like where Arsenal are going on the pitch. Mikel Arteta is doing really well.
“And Partey is an unbelievable signing.
“I don’t know why Manchester United or even Manchester City didn’t go for him. He’s better than what they’ve got.
“But off the pitch, I don’t like what is happening at Arsenal at all sometimes. It’s not the club I remember.”
