Man Utd star Brandon Williams wanted by Southampton in January loan transfer to battle for full-back positions

SOUTHAMPTON are ready to go back in for Brandon Williams in January.
High-flying Saints were keen on a loan move for Manchester United whizkid Williams in the summer.

They were attracted by his ability to play as both a left and right full-back, to provide competition for Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Bertrand.
But Red Devils chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked the switch, despite signing Alex Telles from Porto.

Williams, 20, has since played just two matches this season, with both coming in the EFL Cup.

Southampton would be interested in reviving a possible move when the transfer window opens, particularly with Ryan Bertrand stalling on a new contract.
Though SunSport understands if United were to agree to a move, it would be a loan given how highly they rate the England Under-21 international.
A host of Championship clubs are also keen to borrow Williams, who impressed when breaking into United’s first team last season.
The Manchester lad made 36 appearances for the first team and battled Luke Shaw for a place in the starting XI when both were fit.

Southampton’s hopes of signing Williams will not have been helped by Shaw’s latest injury.

The former Saint is out for at least six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury against Everton earlier this month.
It could mean Williams will be needed as back-up if Shaw doesn’t recover for the New Year.
Saints travel to Wolves tonight and will move up to third with three points.

Dean Henderson wants loan transfer away from Man Utd in January to boost Euro 2020 dream with Leeds and Brighton keen

DEAN HENDERSON is keen to grab a loan move out of Manchester United in a bid to keep his place in England’s squad for the Euro 2020 finals.
Henderson would jump at the chance of first-team football after picking up his first cap from Gareth Southgate in the international break.

The former England under-21 star will need games at Old Trafford to be sure of staying in the frame when the Euros come around next summer.
Aaron Ramsdale, Sam Johnstone and Alex McCarthy have all been in the international set-up before and are currently playing in the Premier League.
Henderson, 23, has yet to start for United at that level and even his cup exposure only extends to a bad night in the Champions League and a few appearances in the Carabao Cup.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stuck with David De Gea despite Henderson signing a lucrative new extension to his deal in August.

Henderson took the money and that closed the door to a return to Sheffield United on loan for a third straight season.
But he has been left kicking his heels and the impatient shot-stopper is itching for action sooner rather than later.
United have a major problem looming as Argentine keeper Sergio Romero is looking to move, leaving Henderson as Solskjaer’s only cover.

Championship high-fliers Bournemouth are already exploring a loan move for Henderson but he would prefer Premier League game time.

Leeds and Brighton may look at a loan deal in January but United will have the final say.
And that could see awkward conversations between Solskjaer and the Henderson camp over the next few weeks.

Man Utd transfer boost as Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule ‘dreams of Old Trafford move’ amid Solskjaer interest

BAYERN MUNICH centre-back Niklas Sule reportedly ‘dreams’ of joining Manchester United once he decides to depart the Bundesliga.
The Germany international – who still has two years left to run on his deal at the Allianz Arena – was targeted by the Red Devils last year.

Niklas Sule is reportedly keen on a move to join Manchester United in the future

Sule, 25, remained in Bavaria, where he helped the club win the league, cup and Champions League last season.

But it appears that he has already made up his mind on the next chapter of his career.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the ex-Hoffenheim defender has set his sights on a future move to Old Trafford.

Taking to Twitter, the German football expert said: “True: Niklas Sule dreams of playing for @ManUtd one day.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to be desperate to bring in a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire at the back.
And with Sule said to be keen to link up with the club, United could look to reignite their interest in him.
United are also believed to be interested in prising away Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.

The France international is expected to depart the German side in 2021, and he could decide his future as early as January.

Touted as one of the most talented defenders in Europe, the 22-year-old boasts just a £40million release clause in his contract.
United are looking to offload Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, and there remains question marks over Eric Bailly.
Solskjaer’s men have struggled defensively this season having shipped in 14 Premier League goals in seven games – losing on three occasions.

West Ham join Man Utd in shock Sami Khedira transfer race after Juventus star revealed ‘dream’ of Premier League move

WEST HAM have reportedly joined the race for Juventus outcast Sami Khedira.
The experienced midfielder could be available on a free transfer amid his exile from Andrea Pirlo’s squad.

Juventus did not name Khedira, 33, in their Champions League squad and he is yet to play this season.
Talks are reportedly underway over terminating his contract, with no agreement reached yet.
Manchester United and Tottenham have been linked with a move for Khedira.

According to Sportmediaset, via TeamTalk, West Ham are also tracking the German.
Khedira has played only once in 2020 while suffering from knee and hamstring issues.
A World Cup winner in 2014, the midfielder has racked up seven league titles in three countries along with a Champions League.
And he spoke recently of his desire to one day reach the Premier League.

Khedira told Sky Germany: “When I was a child it was always a big dream of mine to be a Premier League player.

“I am really happy and satisfied with my career until now but one thing is still missing because I always had this dream and it has never come true… to be a part of the Premier League.
“I have watched so many Premier League games since I was young [but] even now I am following the Premier League a lot.
“I enjoyed always to play with my teams to play in the Champions League against the English clubs. The atmosphere, the style and idea of football has always impressed me.
“If it is possible it will for sure be a really big dream [come true] and honour to be a part of the Premier League.”

Celtic could make ‘very strong statement’ with Dean Henderson transfer from Man Utd amid frustrations behind De Gea

FORMER Scotland and Rangers boss Alex McLeish believes Celtic can make a ‘very strong statement’ by signing Dean Henderson on-loan.
Reports claimed earlier this week that the England international goalkeeper, 23, has grown frustrated at playing No2 to David De Gea at Old Trafford and wants to temporarily leave for game time.

He enjoyed two stunning years at Sheffield United previously, and there would undoubtedly be a queue of clubs happy to recruit him in January.
Celtic failed to re-sign Fraser Forster from Southampton last summer after allowing Craig Gordon to leave on a free.
They instead brought in Vasilis Barkas, but the new boy has been dropped in recent weeks and replaced by Scott Bain.

That has led to the Scottish champions being linked with a swoop for the Red Devils stopper once the transfer window re-opens.
United appear open to allowing their young ace to depart again for further experience.
And McLeish has told Football Insider that Henderson would be a superb acquisition for the Bhoys.
He said: “Yeah, he’s quite special. From the footage I saw of him from the whole of last season he was at a fabulous level.

“His team actually had a great season built on the back of some fantastic work by him.

“That’s what they say about a goalkeeper, they can save you, a good club goalie, 10 points a season, an international goalie 15 points a season, a world-class goalie, 20-odd points a season.
“These are the numbers that these goalkeepers, along with the coaches, strive to make and that, for me, would be a very strong statement.”
England boss Gareth Southgate handed Henderson his first cap when he came off the bench in last week’s win over Republic of Ireland.
But the Three Lions boss has told him he will not be considered as first-choice if he is not playing at club level.
Henderson has been restricted to just three appearances for United this term, with two in the Carabao Cup and another in the embarrassing 2-1 Champions League to Istanbul Basaksehir.

Man Utd ‘tracking’ Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos over free transfer with defender’s contract up at end of the season

MANCHESTER UNITED are tracking Sergio Ramos over a stunning free transfer, according to reports.
The Real Madrid defender is out of contract at the end of the season so would be available for nothing.

And the Red Devils are exploring the possibility of making a swoop, report Marca via the Manchester Evening News.
The Los Blancos captain will be able to enter pre-contract negotiations from January to wrap up a summer deal in advance.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would no doubt jump at the chance to bring into his side an experienced, top-quality centre-back and leader.
And Ramos – who has 660 Real Madrid appearances, 178 Spain caps and 18 major trophies for club and country – certainly fits the bill.

However, the 34-year-old’s wages could prove a mighty stumbling block, especially as United are likely to face competition from some of European football’s big hitters.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus both continue to be linked with taking Ramos.
Reports suggested the mega-rich Ligue 1 champions would be willing to offer him a contract worth an eye-watering £54million after tax.
Ramos would prefer to stay at the Bernabeu and ultimately retire at the club he joined in 2005 while Zinedine Zidane insists he will stay ‘forever’.

But while he wants at least another two-year contract, Real seem willing to only extend his current deal by an extra 12 months.
And club president Florentino Perez suggested he would not stand in the way of Ramos should he want to quit.
He said: “If you get a good offer, I understand that you will leave.”
United have also been linked with Ramos’ Real Madrid team-mate Raphael Varane.
Suggestions that the 13-time European champs would consider selling the Frenchman led to speculation the Old Trafford side could land a transfer for less than £100million.

Man Utd ‘to scout Konrad Laimer during RB Leipzig clash next month with Solskjaer eyeing Paul Pogba replacement’

MANCHESTER UNITED plan to scout Konrad Laimer when they play RB Leipzig in December, according to reports.
And the Austrian midfielder could even be seen as a potential Paul Pogba replacement.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are preparing for the Frenchman to leave the club next summer.
The report adds that the Red Devils will make the most of the upcoming Champions League clash to cast their eye over Leipzig ace Laimer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side travel to Germany for their final Group H game on December 8.
Laimer missed the 5-0 thumping at Old Trafford as he continues rehab from an ankle fracture at the end of August.

But there is a chance he may be back fit again in time to face United.
Laimer, 23, came through the Red Bull Salzburg academy and has been dubbed by some as the Austrian N’Golo Kante for his tenacity and ability to win the ball back.
But while his impressive stats – 11.23 defensive duels and 9.29 recoveries per 90 minutes – exceed any United midfielder, he also offers plenty going forward with his passing and dribbling.
And Laimer’s confidence in a midfield pairing would suit Solskjaer’s system, allowing Bruno Fernandes to operate in the No10 role.

As things stand, the Norwegian has turned to Fred and Scott McTominay as the two sitting midfielders with Pogba unable to fit into the side.
That has led to the £89million man declaring this season ‘the most difficult period of my career’ and increased speculation he will leave next year, despite the club triggering a contract extension.
His deal now runs until the summer of 2022, meaning next summer would be the last opportunity to command a hefty fee.
Speaking during the November international break, Pogba opened up on how tough he is finding life at the moment.
He said: “I had never known such a difficult period in my career.
“The France team is a breath of fresh air, the group is exceptional, it’s magic.”
Despite being fully fit all season, Pogba has started just five of United’s 12 matches this season, managing a goal in the Carabao Cup and assists against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
The two matches he completed the full 90 minutes were the home defeats against Spurs and Arsenal, conceding penalties in both.

Man Utd have ‘opportunity’ to sign Raphael Varane in huge transfer with Real Madrid star costing less than £100m

MANCHESTER UNITED have the opportunity to sign Raphael Varane for well below £100million, according to stunning reports.
The Real Madrid centre-back, 27, is considered one of the top centre-backs in world football.

Manchester United could make a spectacular approach for Raphael Varane according to reportsCredit: Rex Features

But the Manchester Evening News claim Los Blancos would be open to selling the Frenchman.
United tried to sign Varane way back in 2011 under Sir Alex Ferguson but were pipped when Zinedine Zidane – then working behind the scenes at the Bernabeu – intervened.
So as the Lens teenager joined Real Madrid, United bought Phil Jones from Blackburn.
Varane’s name was put forward again after winning the World Cup in 2018 but Jose Mourinho did not think he could get him so called off the pursuit before the Red Devils splashed £85m on Harry Maguire last year.

But they could make a sensational move to try and land him a decade on when the transfer window reopens.
Varane will have 18 months left on his current deal and would plug a gap as both an elite centre-back and strong leader in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
He did switch agent to join Base Soccer in September – a company United have a good relationship with – and is in the ideal age bracket for a defender.
However, the rumoured interest may just be the work of Varane’s new agent to broker an improved deal with the LaLiga champions.

Here’s who Manchester United have signed since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down

Not that Varane has done too much to earn it lately.
His nightmare in the Champions League last 16 saw Real crash out to Manchester City.
And his poor form has continued into this season, despite missing just one match so far and playing 90 minutes in the other ten.
Varane has shipped 15 goals, one of which was his comical own goal in the 4-1 thumping against Valencia.
His recent performances led Karim Benzema’s former agent Karim Djaziri to tweet: “Since the Manchester City match, [Varane] has been a shadow of himself.”
To make matters worse, Varane – as well as Real Madrid centre-back partner Sergio Ramos – were both forced off on international duty this week with hamstring injuries.
