Man Utd’s January transfer plans in chaos after scouting network hacked in cyber attack on computer database

MANCHESTER UNITED’S January transfer plans are in chaos after their scouting network was hacked amid the club’s ongoing cyber attack scandal.
The Mirror reports the Red Devils fear confidential material regarding player targets and active scouting missions may have been compromised.

United confirmed last week that the club was hit by a ‘sophisticated operation by organised criminals’.
The assault on their computer systems reportedly left staff still locked out of club email accounts a week after the event.
United have brought in a team of technical experts to contain the damage but could face a £15million fine if they pay a ransom to hackers.
United are owned by the American Glazer family and as the club are listed on the New York Stock Exchange they are subject to US law.

If they paid a fee they would be breaking legislation and could be sanctioned by the US Treasury.
Hackers are understood to be holding United to ransom for millions of pounds with the possibility they will leak sensitive information or block access to it.
The identity of the attackers and the amount being demanded are currently unclear but paying a lump sum would not guarantee information isn’t leaked.
United revealed their internal investigation to assess the extent of the security breach is still ongoing but the club are also at risk of being slapped with a fine in the UK if data security laws are found to have been breached.

The Red Devils have been knocked back by the unexpected disruption with the January transfer window just weeks away.

United operate an extensive global scouting operation with a sophisticated network and advanced planning is well underway ahead of the next two windows.
As is common with all top clubs, United use a bespoke online scouting system based on analysis, data and video footage.
The report states that the system is being looked at as part of the forensic investigation.
Files are kept on transfer targets and the confidential material inside as well as United stars’ sensitive private information may have been targeted.
United say they are not aware of any fan data being compromised.
The club insists internal services are nearly back to normal and no external operator has control of their systems.

Man Utd star Eric Bailly reveals he rejected rivals City to seal transfer after personal phone call from Jose Mourinho

MANCHESTER UNITED’S Eric Bailly revealed he rejected Manchester City after a personal phone call from Jose Mourinho convinced him to move to Old Trafford.
The Ivorian defender, 26, joined the Red Devils in 2016 from Villarreal.

But the centre-back revealed he came close to arriving at the Etihad before former United boss Mourinho swayed his mind by picking up the phone.
Mourinho secured a £30million deal from the Spanish side ahead of rival Pep Guardiola as both managers arrived in Manchester that summer.
Bailly told Mundo Deportivo: “In the summer of 2016 there were many rumours.
“I was in Ivory Coast, in the dining room at home with my mother when the phone rang. It was a Portuguese number; Mourinho.

“He told me to come with him, that he liked me since he saw me with Espanyol and Villarreal.
“Manchester City were also interested, but if Mourinho calls you, you can’t say no.
“You can’t say no to Barca either. It just didn’t happen because the interest was not public or so explicit.”
Bailly has had an up and down time at Old Trafford with injury restricting him to 89 appearances in all competitions in the last four-and-a-half years.

Here’s who Manchester United have signed since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down

City splashed out £50m on Everton’s John Stones in August 2016 after missing out on Bailly.
Guardiola has forked out a massive £368m on defenders in four years – Aymeric Laporte joined from Athletic Bilbao for £88.5m in 2017.
And just this summer, the Citizens snapped up Nathan Ake for £40m from Bournemouth and coughed up £64m on Ruben Dias from Benfica.
Bailly has failed to nail down a spot alongside club captain Harry Maguire in the heart of defence with Swede Victor Lindelof being preferred by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Bailly has been struggling with a muscle injury that has kept him out of the last eight games.

And despite only playing four times this season, the defender has backed Solskjaer.
Bailly added: “We have known how to overcome adversity because the dressing room is with Solskjaer.
“He is a close guy who has a good relationship with everyone and understands the codes of the football player.
“At the back, he asks for concentration and more character. There are small mistakes that have been avoided.
“We need to pay more attention to plays that seem of little danger and that end up costing us too much.”

Man Utd star Donny van de Beek ‘being eyed by Juventus in shock transfer just months after joining from Ajax’

JUVENTUS are reportedly plotting a swoop to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder only arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in a £39million in the summer.

Despite excitement over his signing, fans have seen more of him sat on the bench rather than the pitch.
He has played just 86 minutes of Premier League action for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side so far this campaign.
Now CalcioMercato claims Juventus are considering an attempt to reunite him with Netherlands international team-mate Matthijs de Ligt, his ex-Ajax colleague.

The Italian news outlet claims Juventus believe a January transfer for Van de Beek is unlikely.
However, their chief football officer Fabio Paratici is keen to arrange a loan move with a £30m option to buy at the end of the deal next summer.
Despite his frustrations domestically over a lack of top-flight action, the ace did impress everyone with his performance in the Champions League this week.
After a great display in Tuesday’s 4-1 group stage victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, former United stars Owen Hargreaves and Rio Ferdinand sung his praises.

And they both called for Solskjaer to let him off the leash.

Hargreaves said: “Van de Beek is so unselfish that he can just fit in.
“I think he’s played himself into the starting lineup.”
Ferdinand added: “I was really was pleased with him. We’ve been impatient ourselves but Ole has shown why he has been thought of so highly.
“He’s the one player than can play one-touch two-touch and keep it simple. He sacrifices parts of his game to help other people and you need that in great times.
“He’s the one player that will make other players play well.”

Man Utd ‘very, very likely’ to sign AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer in the summer of 2021

AC MILAN playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly ‘very likely’ to join Manchester United on a free transfer next summer.
The 26-year-old – who is in the final year of his contract in Italy – has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford in 2021.

Calhanoglu has been in fine form for the Italian side this campaign having chipped in with four goals and as many assists in 13 games.

And according to SportBild journalist Christian Falk, the Red Devils are in advanced talks to bring the Turkish international to the Theatre of Dreams.
Juventus were also keen to snap the ex-Bayer Leverkusen up, but the player is claimed to have rejected the Old Lady in the hope of joining United.

Asked about the club’s interest in Calhanoglu, Falk told the Stretford Paddock: “It’s true and I think this will happen because last summer there were already talks with his agent.
“I don’t know if you know but Juventus would have also have liked him last summer but he said ‘no’.
“He said no because he already knew what would happen this summer with United.
“Talks are already very, very far at the moment and he’ll be a free agent, so this transfer is very, very likely.

“He can be a good player if everything around him is working, then he can help United.

“He’s not the kind of player that if something went wrong he’d say ‘now we have to fight’.
“He’s a technical player, perhaps it is (Paul) Pogba to show him the way. Then I feel like he could do it at United.”
Gazzetta dello Sport reported last month that United were willing to offer Calhanoglu a five-year deal.
They have claimed that the midfielder is ‘frustrated’ by Milan’s £54,000-a-week offer.
Arsenal were also in for the player in January as Mikel Arteta looked to sign him on loan, but the Gunners failed in their pursuit.

Bruno Fernandes perfect for Man Utd ‘because he doesn’t care about mistakes and only success’, says Nani

BRUNO FERNANDES is the perfect fit at Manchester United because he ‘only thinks about success’.
That’s the opinion of former Red Devil Nani, who isn’t surprised the fans are ‘going crazy’ for the classy midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes has been a huge hit since joining Manchester UnitedCredit: Getty Images – Getty

Fernandes has been a revelation for United since joining from Porto in a £55million deal in February.
The 26-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 appearances so far this season for the Premier League side.
But Nani, who says he urged Fernandes to sign for United, isn’t surprised.
⚽ Read our Man United live blog for the latest news from Old Trafford

The 34-year-old, who is now playing for Orlando City FC, told the United Review: “A big part of this team is Bruno Fernandes. Bruno now is a much better player than when we were playing together.
“He was doing great in Portugal but the Portuguese league is not the same as the Premier League.
“I saw so much potential in Bruno and I told him to go to England if he decided to move to another league.
“I said to him: ‘Your game will fit there and the fans will go crazy for you!’

“The style of his football is something fans appreciate. He is a player who likes to take risks in the game, who wants to take the responsibility of the game on his back and make difficult passes, dribbles and shots.

“He doesn’t care about mistakes; he only thinks about success and making the team have success. He knows what that takes. That’s Man United, isn’t it?
“Bruno has done so well until now, scoring goals and setting up a lot of goals, but he will keep improving and making the team even better.”
The Portuguese playmaker’s stunning impact at Manchester United was evident once again following more heroics in last night’s Champions League win over Basaksehir.
And SunSport has revealed how Fernandes has the most goals and assists of any Premier League player since his explosive arrival in February.
In that time, Fernandes has scored more goals (21) than any other Prem rival, and is joint top of the assists chart with Kevin de Bruyne on 13.
Harry Kane is one goal behind and has played 11 games fewer, while De Bruyne has also not been as busy as Fernandes.
But the stats show what a remarkable piece of business the 26-year-old was.
He has a total of 34 goals and assists since February 1 in all competitions, three more than Spurs leader Kane.

Man Utd and Liverpool eye Samuel Chukwueze transfer with Villareal winger also being looked at by Chelsea

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.
The 21-year-old Nigerian has caught the eye over the past two years since his breakthrough into the Spanish side’s first-team.

He remains under contract with the La Liga outfit until 2023.
And that deal includes a massive £71million release clause.
Despite that, La Razon claims United are among a host of clubs plotting a transfer move for the versatile attacker.

Chukwueze is capable of playing on either flank, and his displays for Villarreal have secured him a whole host of admirers.
The Spanish publication claims Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Everton are also keen.
Liverpool have also entered the race to secure his services.
And according to today’s reports, either Old Trafford or Anfield are believed to be the most likely destination for the African.

United have long-been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund wide-man Jadon Sancho.

They were priced out of a deal over the summer window after the German side refused to drop their £127m valuation.
That means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could instead opt for the cheaper alternative and go all-out to sign Chukwueze.
The star helped his country to Under-17 World Cup success in 2015 and won the Bronze Boot award at the tournament before going on to continue his progress in Spain.

Man Utd transfer target Eduardo Camavinga SACKS agent as Rennes star plots move to one of Europe’s giants

MANCHESTER UNITED and Real Madrid target Eduardo Camavinga has reportedly sacked his agent as speculation over a transfer grows.
The Rennes midfielder, 18, decided to part ways with his representative Moussa Sissoko.

And according to AS, that has opened up a scramble for his signature among some of the top football agents.
Jorge Mendes, whose Gestifute agency looks after Cristiano Ronaldo, and Gareth Bale’s man Jonathan Barnett are thought to be hoping to land Camavinga.
Pini Zahavi sorted Neymar’s world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain as well as managing Rio Ferdinand’s career and could also try and add the youngster to his client list.
And whichever agent wins the chase is set to be in store for a bumper pay day when Camavinga gets his move to one of the European giants.

United, Real Madrid and PSG are the three clubs closely linked with the Frenchman after missing out on him in the summer.
Real want to unite Camavinga, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu in a new Galactico era.
Juventus may also be considering a swoop – but Rennes are thought to want at least £62million for their academy graduate who joined the club aged 11 and made his debut a month after turning 16.
But it appears the player himself has not narrowed down his options as the Red Devils look to pounce.

Speaking in a press conference last week, Camavinga said: “The great clubs make me dream, but I cannot name one in particular for my future.
“Do I want to stay in Rennes? We’ll see. We haven’t set a date to discuss my future, I’m in no rush about it.”
In the meantime before a new agent is sorted, his dad Celestino will handle any dealings.
Camavinga is under contract until 2022 but his future beyond the end of next season remains unclear.
He has racked up 11 appearances this term – including against Chelsea on Tuesday – with a goal and an assist.
Camavinga also boasts three senior international caps for Les Bleus already and grabbed his first strike to open the scoring in the 7-1 thumping of Ukraine in October with a stunning overhead kick.

Man Utd set to HALVE asking price for Sergio Romero transfer after he and wife were left furious at exit being blocked

SERGIO ROMERO will reportedly be allowed to leave Manchester United in a cut-price deal in January after he was denied a summer switch.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that the 33-year-old begged the club to let him leave having fallen further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is desperate to leave the club

Dean Henderson is now United’s second choice goalkeeper following his successful loan spell at Sheffield United, leaving no room for Romero.

His wife was furious with the club after a move to Everton stalled, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side haggled over a £5million fee.
The Toffees then turned to Swedish star Robin Olsen, who they brought in on loan from Roma.

With the Argentine shot-stopper set to leave the Theatre of Dreams on a free transfer at the end of the season, United are said to be willing to cash in on him in the New Year.
According to the Mirror, Romero could be allowed to leave should any potential suitor cough up £2.5m.
Romero – who has been omitted from United’s Premier League and Europa League squads – hasn’t featured in a top-flight game since the 2017-18 campaign.
He saw a move to MLS side Inter Miami fall through, forcing him to remain in England until at least January.

The former Sampdoria ace is now training alone at United as he counts down the days until the winter transfer window.

Romero joined United in 2015, but has been limited to just 61 appearances in all competitions.
His highlight at the club came in 2017 when he started in the Europa League final victory against Ajax.
Despite featuring nine times in the tournament last term, David De Gea was preferred instead in the semi-final loss against Sevilla, leaving the goalkeeper devastated.
