How Chelsea could line up with Jadon Sancho after scuppering Man Utd transfer plans as he reveals he’s a boyhood fan

JADON SANCHO could play under Frank Lampard at Chelsea next season after revealing he was a boyhood Blues fan.
The Borussia Dortmund star, 20, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the last transfer window but the Red Devils never coughed up the £108million asking price.

How Chelsea could line up next season if boyhood Blue Jadon Sancho signs

Manchester City academy product Sancho was born in South London before being snapped up by the Citizens aged just seven.
And the England international has confirmed he was a Chelsea fan as a youngster.
In an interview with the Telegraph in 2019, when asked if he supported Chelsea, he responded: “Yeah, it’s correct. I’m not going to lie.”
Blues boss Lampard already has an embarrassment of attacking riches to pick from in West London after splashing over £230m during the summer on the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz.

A big-money transfer for Sancho could see him occupy the wide right berth in a 4-3-3 system.
That would mean a move for Ziyech over to the left, with Werner potentially deployed through the middle.
In order to fit Havertz – the club’s most expensive outfield player ever – into the XI, Lampard may have to utilise the German youngster in a deeper midfield role.
Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante could make up a versatile midfield three.

Chelsea’s new defensive steel means the back four and keeper Edouard Mendy will likely remain the same at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have conceded just 11 goals in as many league games this term – fixing last season’s leaky backline showings which left them with the most goals conceded in the Premier League’s top half – and Sancho could be the man to take their game to the next level up front.
But there will be no shortage of competition for places with Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Callum Hudson-Odoi all vying for forward spots.

Man Utd star Pogba ‘most overrated player I’ve seen’ and ‘not worth hassle’ like Cristiano Ronaldo was, slams Carragher

JAMIE CARRAGHER blasted Manchester United’s Paul Pogba as the ‘most overrated player I have ever seen in my life’ and urged the club to ‘get rid of him’.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said his time at United was ‘over’ on Monday and insisted the French midfielder, 27, will not sign a new deal before his existing contract expires in 18 months time.

Raiola said Pogba was ‘unhappy’ and urged the Red Devils to sell one of their star assets rather than letting him leave for free, with a January move the best option for all parties in his opinion.
It is not the first time Pogba’s representative has spoken out about his future and Liverpool legend Carragher branded both the player and his agent a ‘disgrace’ on Monday Night Football.
He told Sky Sports: “Get rid! I’ve been saying this for 12 months. The most overrated player I’ve ever seen in my life!
“I think the two of them are a disgrace. We’ll all look at the agent now and ask Pogba what he thinks.

“Agents in this day and age, they are not just agents, they are a parent, a best friend, a financial adviser, they book holidays, they go away with each other.
“Those two will be like that (crosses fingers). He will be Pogba’s best mate. So Pogba will be well aware of what was going to come out of his mouth. And if he wasn’t, he should sack his agent.
“It’s very, very simple. That’s all that needs to happen. I mean I don’t know where he is going to go… who’s going to have him? I don’t get it?”

Carragher was speaking on the same day Raiola said: “I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United.

“It is useless to go around it.
“Better to speak clearly, look ahead and not waste time looking for culprits: Paul at Manchester United is unhappy, he is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as expected of him.
“He has to change teams, he has to change the air. He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I think the best solution for the parties is to sell in the next market.
“Otherwise, the Old Trafford club, with whom relations are excellent, knows well that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that for the moment it is not the player’s intention to extend the contract.
“If someone doesn’t understand it, they understand very little about football. In any case, let them blame me if Paul leaves next summer.”
Carragher went on to suggest United are keen to get rid of the former Juventus star after he slipped down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order and compared his situation to Cristiano Ronaldo’s before he left in 2009 but said Pogba wasn’t worth the same ‘hassle’ as the Portuguese superstar.

Cristiano Ronaldo eventually left Manchester United for Real Madrid in 2009Credit: PA:Press Association

He added: “Man United want rid of him – don’t kid yourself.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been playing Scott McTominay and Fred in front of him in midfield. And he had to put him in because he was resting players.
“He hasn’t played for a month but he hasn’t been out. He has had an injury but before that he was on the bench. He played because they were resting players for Leipzig. Would you play him now, in Leipzig, on the back of that?
“Remember a few years ago, everyone knew that Ronaldo was going to Real Madrid but United had to put up with it because he was worth the hassle.
“Pogba is not worth the hassle. Get rid of him.
“There are only two clubs better than United and that’s Barca and Real Madrid. And when I say better I mean players (leaving) you can understand as they are the pinnacle of club football. Have to accept that.
“There is no chance in the world that Real Madrid or Barca will buy him. I’ll be flabbergasted again if they come in.
“Maybe a French thing with [Zinedine] Zidane there but I wouldn’t go anywhere near him.”

Man Utd line up £14m January transfer bid for Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez with versatile star’s contract up in summer

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly looking to prise away Real Madrid’s versatile star Lucas Vazquez in January.
The 29-year-old – who has featured in 12 games in all competitions this season – could be available on the cheap with his contract set to expire next summer.

And with the player free to negotiate with clubs in the New Year, Los Blancos are keen to avoid losing him on a free.
According to Fichajes.net, the Red Devils are lining up an offer of around £14million for the Spain international.
They state that the right winger – who has often been deployed as a right-back this term – could be brought in to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
However they state that Zinedine Zidane may be reluctant to part ways with the three-time Champions League winner due to his fondness of him.

Real fan Vazquez has never played outside his native country having come through the club’s academy.
Since making his debut in the 2015-16 season, he has chipped in with 24 goals in 218 games, winning 11 major honours.
Vazquez isn’t the only player United are said to be looking to bring to Old Trafford from Madrid.
It has also been claimed that Atletico ace Kieran Trippier is a possible target for the club.

The former Tottenham defender has 18 months on his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano, with United believed to be monitoring his situation.
Just like with Vazquez, Trippier would be signed to initially provide cover for Wan-Bissaka.
Trippier has featured in all of Atletico’s ten LaLiga games this term, with Diego Simeone’s men sitting top of the table having conceded just two goals.

Five transfers Man Utd could pull off this summer including Sancho and Haaland as Woodward vows to back Solskjaer

MANCHESTER UNITED chief Ed Woodward revealed the club would focus on doing big business in summer transfer windows moving forward.
At the recent Manchester United fans’ forum meeting, Woodward revealed the club would target a ‘long-term approach to recruitment, focused on the summer windows’.

How Man Utd could look with FIVE new signings next summer

United signed Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo in the summer of 2021 – spending around £100million.
And Woodward’s most-recent claim suggests the big-money buys are set to continue moving forward.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at five players Man Utd COULD sign next summer…
    JADON SANCHO

Man Utd will be desperate to finally land No1 target Sancho next summerCredit: AFP
THE saga rumbled on all summer, but United never landed their man.

Borussia Dortmund were clear in their demands from the get-go: £108m for Sancho or no deal.
United missed the August 10 deadline set by the Germans only to put in an offer of closer to £60m-70m up front and the remainder paid in instalments.
The bid was swiftly rejected, with Old Trafford chiefs still confident they would land their No1 target before deadline day.
But as time ran out, United were forced to look elsewhere and worked quickly to bring in FOUR new faces on deadline day.

Sancho, 20, is still very much at the top of United’s wish-list – but they are expected to wait until the summer with the club still desperately crying out for a natural right-winger.
The England ace is believed to have agreed to personal terms – United now just need to tempt Dortmund into selling.
    ERLING HAALAND

Erling Haaland could be the perfect fit up front for UnitedCredit: AP:Associated Press
WHILE a right-winger is a must moving forward, it seems so too is a natural striker.
Marcus Rashford has been excellent cutting inside from the left-wing in recent months.
But both he and Anthony Martial seem more adept on the wing than in the natural No9 role.
Cavani has brought his goal-scoring know-how with him to Old Trafford.
But he only signed a one-year contract, with an option for a second.
Even if the Uruguayan does stay for the 2021-22 season, United would love another natural centre-forward – perhaps a more youthful one, too.
Haaland has long been linked with United, even since his RB Salzburg days.
Real Madrid are keen on the 20-year-old Dortmund striker, but Solskjaer would love to bring his fellow Norwegian – whom he coached at Molde – to Old Trafford.

    KALIDOU KOULIBALY

United could look to bolster their defensive ranks with a move for KoulibalyCredit: EPA
ANOTHER area of weakness for United is in the heart of defence.
Harry Maguire – the world’s most-expensive defender at £85m – has been a near-ever-present since joining in the summer of 2019.
But alongside him it’s a different story, with the likes of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe all tried.
Luke Shaw has also played on the left of a back-three at times.
Another big-name United have long been linked with is 29-year-old Koulibaly – with rivals Liverpool and Man City also keen on the Napoli ace.
Man Utd are also believed to be linked with Villarreal star Pau Torres – and could give up Eric Bailly to get a deal over the line.
    EDUARDO CAMAVINGA

Camavinga would be a superb fit in a deep-lying role at Old TraffordCredit: AFP
BIZARRELY, United’s biggest strength is arguably also their biggest weakness.
Solskjaer has the likes of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in his central midfield ranks.
But finding the right combination has proven difficult.
United could decide to bring in a few new faces, while selling a couple in order to enjoy a fresh start.
Fernandes will almost-certainly start in the No10 role – leaving TWO free spots in the deeper roles.
One of those could be filled by Rennes wonderkid Camavinga.
The Frenchman, 18, has shown skill far beyond his years and is said to be keen on a move to Real Madrid.
But with Los Blancos also targeting the likes of Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, they may be forced to hold off signing Camavinga.
Most-naturally-suited to a deep-lying role, he would fit in superbly at Old Trafford… if they manage to sign him.
Camavinga is set to cost just £45m, which could be a superb investment given his age and potential.
He also recently sacked his agent seemingly in a bid to force a move to one of Europe’s giants. Watch this space.
    DENIS ZAKARIA

Zakaria would be the perfect partner for Camavinga in midfieldCredit: Reuters
ANOTHER well-suited option for United would be Borussia Monchengladbach ace Denis Zakaria.
Wanted by Chelsea and Man City as well as United, it’s easy to see why the Swiss defensive midfielder, 24, is in demand.
City are claimed to have already made contact with Zakaria’s agent.
But United would love to partner Camavinga with Zakaria given the chance, in what would be a well-balanced – and young – double-pivot.

Sergio Ramos ‘ready to QUIT Real Madrid after being offered Premier League transfer’ with contract up this summer

SERGIO RAMOS is reportedly considering QUITTING Real Madrid and heading to the Premier League.
The centre-half is out of contract at the end of the season with talks continuing over his future.

But according to Onda Cero, Ramos is ‘thinking about leaving’ and has ‘proposals from Italy and England’.
PSG are also believed to be in the hunt for the 34-year-old defender.
The report adds that the player could be looking for one final big payday and that might not be at Real Madrid who are hopeful of reducing their wage bill.
French champs PSG are reportedly set to offer Ramos an eye-watering contract worth £54million AFTER tax in an audacious swoop.

According to AS PSG will offer a three-year deal worth £18m per season after tax.
But there are also reports that Manchester United are ready to make their move.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would no doubt jump at the chance to bring into his side an experienced, top-quality centre-back and leader.
And Ramos – who has 660 Real Madrid appearances, 178 Spain caps and 18 major trophies for club and country – certainly fits the bill.

But if contrary reports are to be believed, all is not over for Ramos at the Bernabeu.
As reported by El Chiringuito, Ramos ‘has an agreement’ with club president Florentino Perez of a two-year deal worth £10m a season.
There will even be the option of a third year, that would take him past his 38th birthday.

Man Utd ‘willing to offer Eric Bailly in swap transfer for £60m Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres’ to fix leaky defence

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly hoping they can broker a swap deal with Villarreal involving Eric Bailly and Pau Torres.
The La Liga side’s centre-back is wanted by a host of clubs across Europe, including Tottenham.

The 23-year-old Spanish international is under contract until 2024.
That deal includes a release clause of £60million – a figure United are not too keen to meet.
However, TEAMtalk claims they hope out-of-favour Bailly could prove to be their ‘trump card’ in securing Torres.
And tt states the Red Devils believe there is a chance that Villarreal could be tempted to take back their former star next year.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to bring in a new defensive partner to play alongside Harry Maguire.
Bailly arrived at Old Trafford in 2016 in a £30m move from Villarreal and made a bright start under Jose Mourinho.
But he has struggled over recent years and seems surplus to Solskjaer’s requirements.
And the Ivory Coast ace and Phil Jones are both believed to be available for transfer.

Both Arsenal and Spurs have been linked with Bailly.
However, having identified Torres as a key target, it is now claimed the Norwegian hopes to use Bailly as bait in trying to sign him.
And if Villarreal will take him back, they hope an exchange deal can be agreed, either seeing Bailly leave permanently or even temporarily on loan.

Solskjaer warns Man Utd fans not to expect busy January transfer window and says ‘I don’t predict lot of ins and outs’

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has warned Manchester United fans not to expect a busy January transfer window, saying: “Don’t predict lots of ins and outs.”
United were linked with a host of massive names in the summer, including £108million-rated Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Solskjaer has warned Man Utd fans not to expect much transfer activity in January

The Red Devils did manage to sign Donny van de Beek earlier in the summer window.
A late flurry of deals saw Edinson Cavani – the hero of United’s 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday – Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Adam Diallo join on deadline day.
But United fans were ultimately left underwhelmed by their club’s lack of inactivity.
Despite supporters hopeful of some big-name signings this winter, Solskjaer has urged fans to temper expectations.

Solskjaer said: “It’s hard to predict how other teams (will act) and how the financial situation is.
“If teams need to sell or if they’ve got money to buy…
“I don’t predict a lot of ins and outs, to be fair.
“The world, financially, and in football, has changed as well also.

“It depends how the injury situations are at different teams.
“I feel very happy with my squad at the moment. We’re getting stronger.
“I still have issues every week when we only get an 18-man squad to pick from.
“Who do you leave out? I feel I’m in a good position.”
Reports claim United are still hopeful of signing Sancho BEFORE next summer’s delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
However, it’s believed a January move would be ‘all-but impossible’.
Man Utd are more likely to save money to ensure they land their long-term No1 target in the summer than bring in a cheaper alternative in January.
United have also been linked with the likes of James Maddison and Jack Grealish in the attacking midfield positions in recent months.

Man Utd and Chelsea joined by City in Denis Zakaria transfer race with Monchengladbach star eyed to bolster midfield

MANCHESTER CITY are ready to battle it out with neighbours United and Chelsea in the race for Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.
The 24-year-old midfielder, whose contract runs until 2022, has just returned to action after fighting back from a long-term knee injury.

Man City have contacted Monchengladbach’s Deniz Zakaria’s agent over a potential transfer moveCredit: Getty

Swiss international Zakaria came off the bench against Augsburg on November 21 for his first game since March and has since featured twice more.
It was his performances last term that caught the eye before he was sidelined, helping Gladbach to seal Champions League football.
His return to fitness has re-ignited the interest from potential suitors, and Pep Guardiola’s City are reportedly one of those keen.
And Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano told his Here We Go podcast that City have already been in contact with Zakaria’s agent.

He said: “Manchester City are focusing on Zakaria, he is so appreciated by the board, they are following him, they are in contact with his agent.
“So he’s for sure on the list of Manchester City, there is nothing advanced yet because they are not negotiating yet with Borussia Monchengladbach, they need time.”
Further reports claimed last month that both Manchester United and Chelsea were looking at making a move for the attacker.
United are in need for a defensive midfielder to replace the ageing Nemanja Matic, who turned 32 in August.

The best available free agents still on the market

Meanwhile Frank Lampard is looking for alternatives to West Ham’s Declan Rice having failed to prise him away from the London Stadium.
But the two teams could still miss out on Zakaria, with it claimed that Bayern Munich are also keen to snap him up.
Zakaria spoke earlier in the year about how flattering it was to be linked with moves to Europe’s biggest clubs.
Speaking in March, he said: “[The interest] spurs me on and gives me strength to improve further.
“The fact that other clubs are dealing with me shows that I perform well. But I only concentrate on Borussia.”
