Man Utd defender Brandon Williams wanted by Southampton in loan transfer deal after failed summer move

SOUTHAMPTON are ready to step-up their efforts to land Brandon Williams on loan from Manchester United.
The Saints failed in an attempt to bring the England U21s star to St Mary’s during the summer window.

They wanted him to provide competition for both Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Bertrand, with the 20-year-old’s versatility enabling to play both right and left-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked that move several months ago – but that has not put off the South Coast outfit.
As Sun Sport reported last month, Southampton are still keen on signing the defender.
And The Telegraph have back up our story by claiming Saints are ready to make another offer to the Red Devils for the youngster.

The arrival of Alex Telles at Old Trafford has provided a further obstacle for Williams.
He has only featured five times so far this campaign, with just one of those coming in the Premier League.
Southampton would potentially be keen on a permanent deal for Williams.
Bertrand is stalling on a new contract and they view the starlet as potential replacement.

MAN UTD BETTING TIPS: United likely to beat Sheffield United, but expect both teams to score

But United rate Williams highly and it is believed they would only be willing to sanction a loan.
He shone last term following his breakthrough into the United first-team and played 36 times in all competitions for the Red Devils.
He also has several Championship clubs keen on taking him on loan.

Man Utd transfer target Kingsley Coman ‘not for sale’ insists Bayern Munich chief as Solskjaer eyes winger

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told January target Kingsley Coman is NOT for sale by Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to add some natural width to his squad.

Man Utd have been told Kingsley Coman is not for sale by Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hunt for a superstar natural winger goes on

The United chief has played the likes of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford out wide this season.
Daniel James is the only natural winger at the club and he has dropped down the pecking order this season.
Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri were both signed on deadline day in the summer, but are very much ones for the future.
Man Utd had been desperately chasing £108million-rated Jadon Sancho in the summer.

But they failed in their pursuit and, while they are still hoping to sign the England star in 2021, have begun to look elsewhere.
As well as having been linked with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, United have recently been rumoured to be hot on the trail of in-form Bayern star Coman.
The France winger, 24, has been involved in 13 goals in just 13 games for the Bundesliga giants this season.

With Coman finally a first-team regular at the Allianz Arena, club chief Rummenigge vehemently refused to listen to offers for the midfielder.

Rummenigge told Kicker: “Kingsley is an absolute top player today, and is extremely valuable for Bayern.
“He often makes the difference, just when it counts the most.
    “Kingsley is not for sale.”
Coman struggled with a spate of frustrating injuries last season as Bayern won the Bundesliga and Champions League crowns.
But Rummenigge revealed he put an arm around the Frenchman rather than grow frustrated with his ever-growing injury list.
The Bayern CEO said: “I hugged him and told him that injuries are part of the game, especially in modern football.
“[I told him] our medical department would do everything to ensure that he would soon be back on the field in top shape.
“Fortunately, that’s how it turned out.”
Meanwhile, Man Utd have drawn LaLiga leaders Real Sociedad in the last-32 of the Europa League after dropping down from the Champions League.
United crashed out of Europe’s elite competition after losing to RB Leipzig in their final group game, knowing just a point would have seen them through.

Man Utd transfer blow with Bayern Munich in pole position for Dayot Upamecano ahead of £38m release clause activation

MANCHESTER UNITED were dealt a blow in their pursuit of Dayot Upamecano as reports suggest Bayern Munich are in pole position to land the defender.
The Athletic reports Champions League winners Bayern are now in the driving seat over the Red Devils in the hunt for the highly rated RB Leipzig centre-back.

Upamecano, 22, has a £38million release clause in his contract that can be activated at the end of the season.
The report states the French defender is keen to secure an agreement with one of the European giants chasing him sooner rather than later.
Upamecano caught the eye with some outstanding displays last season as Leipzig made the Champions League semi-final.
And the player is thought to want to tie down his future to improve his international prospects with France playing in World Cup qualifiers in March before the delayed Euro 2020 tournament next summer.

For the calibre of player, the price point of just under £40m for Upamecano is a snip and has got a number of clubs interested.
He has been regularly linked with United who are looking to bolster their options in the heart of defence.
Liverpool have also been suggested as a potential destination as Jurgen Klopp needs reinforcements for his injury-ravaged squad with Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez long-term absentees.
But with experienced duo David Alaba and Jerome Boateng set to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer, Bayern appear to have upped the ante in the race to secure Upamecano’s signature.

The report states that Upamecano is no longer a key priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and that they have ‘cooled’ their interest.
Bayern were also previously interested in Upamecano but were put off by a higher price and did not need to strengthen at the back.
Upamecano has made 16 appearances for Leipzig this season and has flourished in the Bundesliga under the management of Julian Nagelsmann.

Edinson Cavani reveals he snubbed ‘many Italian clubs’ including Juventus and Inter to join Man Utd due to Napoli past

EDINSON CAVANI rejected both Juventus and Inter Milan to join Manchester United this summer.
The Uruguayan striker arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer after his contract ran out at Paris Saint-Germain.

The veteran has impressed so far for the Red Devils, scoring three times, including a match-winning cameo from the bench against Southampton last month.
Cavani signed for PSG in the summer of 2013 but remains a huge hero to the Neapolitans.
And he admitted to Mondo Napoli that he could not go back to Italy to play for one of their rivals due to his love for the club.
When asked what message he had for Napoli’s supporters, the 33-year-old said: “Only thank you. I will always be grateful to them.

“It’s for this reason that I said no to many Italian clubs including Juventus, who called me often, and Inter too.
“I couldn’t do such a thing to the Neapolitans.
“If I think of Naples, I think of joy, because I know that I have done so much for them and they continue to pay tribute to me.”
Cavani’s three goals have come in six Premier League appearances, most of which have come as sub.

But his new club were knocked out of the Champions League earlier this week as they lost to RB Leipzig.
Now he and his team-mates are preparing to face neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
United can move four points ahead of their rivals with victory.

Man Utd outcast Marcos Rojo wanted by Sheff Utd but £80k-a-week wage demands could scupper transfer

SHEFFIELD UNITED have reportedly identified Manchester United outcast Marcos Rojo as a possible January signing.
The 30-year-old will be available in a cut-price deal with the centre-back in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

And the Red Devils will be keen to sell him with the player yet to feature this season – despite him being named in the club’s Premier League squad.
Along with Rojo, United are also desperate to offload the likes of Phil Jones, Sergio Romero and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
According to the Daily Mail, Sheffield United are keen to revive their interest in the Argentine defender in the New Year.
The Blades were interested in the ex-Sporting Lisbon man in the summer, but the move failed to materialise.

However the club are desperate for new signings as they sit rooted to the bottom of the table after 11 games played.
It has been stated that the basement boys are looking at structuring a package for Rojo as they try and tempt him to move to Bramall Lane.
However his £80,000-a-week wages could prove to be a stumbling block for the South Yorkshire outfit.
There is still the question as to whether Rojo will want to join a club that are in a relegation battle.

Should they fail in their attempts to sign Rojo, then Chris Wilder’s men will turn to Preston North End’s Ben Davies.
It is understood that the Championship side will want at least £10million for the 25-year-old.
Scottish club Celtic are also believed to be keen on Davies having sent scouts to watch him in action.

Man Utd advertise for chief scout to beat likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to the next wonderkids down south

MANCHESTER UNITED bosses are on a mission to unearth more homegrown talent.
And they want to pinch promising kids right from under the noses of their southern rivals.

Iconic star David Beckham began his career playing football as a kid for Ridgeway Rovers in Chingford, London.
And now the club is looking for a scout to operate down south to find more footballing gems.
The club have placed an advertisement on its website looking for an expert to find players aged 12-18 they can sign for the academy side.
And the role also includes occasional international travel to watch exciting new prospects overseas.

The Old Trafford side – lauded this season for having more homegrown stars in the first team side than any of their Premier League rivals – haven’t revealed the salary.
But scouting roles within clubs can range from £25,000 to £100,000 for the top job.
Would-be applicants are told: “To manage and co-ordinate the Academy scouting operation, including market intelligence in club’s Southern region.
“This role will work closely with the Head of Academy Scouting and Assistant Head of Academy Scouting and will manage a group of scouts whilst providing technical scouting and recruitment support for the Manchester United Academy Scouting department.

“Primarily responsible for overseeing the scouting process in the South region and working with Academy scouts to identify, track, recommend and support the recruitment of Academy players of potential interest to MUFC.
“Scout and recruit players with the potential to progress and develop towards achieving a full-time scholarship.
“Gain and develop an in-depth understanding of the academy player market within the South region to support our market intelligence and decision-making.”
Candidates will be required to liaise with the team’s scouting network in the south and compile performance reports and videos of promising kids.
They must also understand the financial rules surrounding the signing of teenage talent.
The ad continues: “Performance and process management of casual scouts in the South region and contribute towards their development.
“Have a working knowledge of the Premier League/Football League rules i.e. regulations relating to player transfers and squad composition and EPPP guidelines relating to player compensation and migration.

“Promote a positive market identity for Manchester United with agents, representatives, clubs, federations, families and all key contacts.”
The successful candidate must have a “minimum of three years demonstrable experience of working within the scouting department of a professional football club’s academy and a proven track record in recruitment of academy players”.
And they must possess knowledge of elite player development, an in-depth understanding of “English football in the South region at all levels (essential)”, plus the ability to write and prepare detailed scouting reports and the FA’s Talent Identification Level 2 qualification.

Paul Scholes slams David De Gea and says Man Utd goalkeeper ‘bottled’ third Leipzig goal

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Scholes says keeper David De Gea ‘bottled it’ after letting in RB Leipzig’s third goal.
United were dumped out of the Champions League after a dismal 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig in Germany.

That will only increase pressure on under-fire boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
But Scholes, speaking as part of BT Sport’s coverage of the game, was damning of United No1 De Gea’s contribution to their downfall.
He dithered as Justin Kluivert stabbed home the German’s crucial third goal.
Scholes said: “David De Gea here… he bottles it. He’s scared of getting hurt. It should never go across the box like that.

“As a goalkeeper, you come out, make yourself as big as you can.
“You might get smashed in the face, you might get injured… but he turns his back away.
“He actually makes himself smaller. For such an experienced goalkeeper, it’s criminal.”
Many United fans want to see rising star Dean Henderson be given a chance between the sticks – and this latest error might see that become a reality.

Defender and captain Harry Maguire didn’t emerge unscathed either, having the chance to clear the ball.
Scholes described him as ‘wooden’ and ‘stiff’ to sum up United’s despair.
The soft goal put United 3-0 down in the tie, leaving themselves a mountain to climb with only a draw good enough to go through to the knockout stages.
Bruno Fernandes netted an 80th minute penalty and wantaway midfielder Paul Pogba headed home a second two minutes later.

But it wasn’t enough as United dropped into the Europa League.
Speaking after the game, Solskajer said: “We showed spirit in a comeback again – it’s different to the Premier League – you can’t give a team a three goal lead and expect to come back.
“We were unlucky towards the end, I felt the character was there and I almost thought it was in at the last minute too.
“Of course you can’t say we were good enough, we weren’t.
“In a difficult group we started well, then the turning point was the defeat to Istanbul – that’s where we lost the points that we should have had.
“Today we knew we had to defend crosses and balls in the box, but we just couldn’t clear them.”

Man Utd could land Paulo Dybala in sensational swap transfer with Juventus for wantaway star Paul Pogba

MANCHESTER UNITED could land Paulo Dybala in a sensational swap with Juventus for wantaway Paul Pogba, according to reports.
On Monday, Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola revealed the 2018 World Cup winner’s time at Old Trafford was ‘over’.

And now United could land Dybala – a transfer target in the summer of 2019 – in exchange for Pogba, according to The Athletic.
Last year, Pogba, 27, revealed he was looking for a ‘new challenge’, with Real Madrid believed to be his favoured landing spot.
But now it’s most-likely Pogba will head back to Turin, where he enjoyed the best four years of his career between 2012 and 2016.
Dybala, 27, is struggling to nail down a regular starting spot in Andrea Pirlo’s starting XI, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata the main men this season.

⚽ Read our Man United live blog for the latest news from Old Trafford
It’s even claimed the Argentine has been offered to United, Arsenal and Chelsea in a bid to force a 2021 transfer.
But Pirlo is desperate to continue his midfield revamp, and having played alongside Pogba at Juve is believed to view the Frenchman as the perfect addition.
Raiola said: “I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United.”

He went on to say that it is time for United’s board to stop skirting around the subject and sell him soon before he becomes a free agent.

Pogba’s current deal is up in 18 months, with Raiola insisting his client has no intention of signing an extension.
Raiola continued: “It is useless to go around it… it’s better to speak clearly, look ahead and not waste time looking for culprits.
“Paul at Manchester United is unhappy, he is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as expected of him.
“He has to change teams, he has to change the air.
“He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I think the best solution for the parties is to sell in the next market.
“Otherwise, the Old Trafford club, with whom relations are excellent, knows well that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that for the moment it is not the player’s intention to extend the contract.
“If someone doesn’t understand it, they understand very little about football.
“In any case, let them blame me if Paul leaves next summer.”

On Monday, Raiola claimed Pogba’s time at Man Utd was ‘over’
Raiola’s comments are believed to have infuriating Man Utd chiefs, according to The Athletic.
United have a tempestuous relationship with the Italian-born Dutchman, with Sir Alex Ferguson famously ‘distrusting’ the super-agent, even once calling him a ‘s*** bag’.
Meanwhile, Dybala has featured in just six matches in all competitions for Juve this season, failing to score or register an assist in Serie A.
The Argentine had appeared to be on the brink of a move to Old Trafford in August 2019 only for the deal to fall apart after his agent was claimed to have demanded a £13.7m payment to buy image rights from a third party.
