Man Utd transfer blow over Kieran Trippier move with Atletico Madrid refusing to sell full-back this season

MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a blow over their reported pursuit of Kieran Trippier.
That is because Atletico Madrid are thought to be unwilling to sell the full-back, 30, this season.

Reports this month suggested the Red Devils wanted to make a move for the former Tottenham man.
He is out of contract at the Wanda Metropolitano in 18 months.
But as per AS in Spain, the LaLiga giants want to hold on to their right-back.
United are allegedly keen on a more attacking alternative to £45million 2019 signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Trippier, who is from nearby Bury, came through at Manchester City and made his name at Burnley, fits the bill.
A move to Old Trafford reportedly appeals to the 25-cap England international, who supported United growing up.
Trippier’s future was in doubt this summer with Atleti open to listening to offers of around £20m, around the same fee they paid Spurs in 2019.
No transfer was agreed and he stayed put, starting the season in impressive form.

Only Trippier and goalkeeper Jan Oblak have played every minute in the Champions League and LaLiga campaigns so far.
Diego Simeone’s side are top of the league after 11 matches, despite some teams – including second-placed Real Sociedad – already playing 14.
In the Champions League, the 2014 and 2016 runners-up finished second in their group with Bayern Munich and face Chelsea in the last 16.

Man Utd ‘working on Marcos Rojo’s January transfer exit’ with Newcastle interested in outcast defender

NEWCASTLE UNITED want Marcos Rojo with Manchester United already ‘working on’ his January exit.
The Argentina international has fallen way down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has only six months left on his £100,000-a-week but the club retain an option of extending it by a further year.
However, The Athletic claims Steve Bruce is desperate to strengthen his Magpies defence.
And 30-year-old Rojo’s versatility to be able to play centrally or at left-back has helped to make him a top target.
But Newcastle will face competition from elsewhere in the Premier League for the South American.

Bottom of the table Sheffield United, who were beaten 3-2 last night by the Red Devils, are also keen.
And two unknown Spanish sides are also looking into the prospect of bringing him in from Old Trafford.
United are happy to let him leave, with the report stating they are already in talks with the ace regarding his exit once the transfer window re-opens next month.
Rojo has made over 120 appearances for United since his arrival in 2014.

But he has not featured for the first team in over a year and spent time back in his homeland with Estudiantes last season.
He is believed to want to remain in England, and that could put Newcastle in pole position for him.
And Rojo will be hoping he can impress enough in the remainder of the campaign at a new club to earn himself a long-term deal.

Chelsea joined by Man Utd in Declan Rice transfer race with West Ham midfielder being eyed after impressive season

CHELSEA are reportedly facing competition from Manchester United in the race to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Rice, 21, was heavily linked with a return to the Blues in the last window -after being released by the club as a teenager – but despite splurging £220million on players the West London side didn’t manage to bring him in.

The Manchester Evening News reports United are in the market for a defensive midfielder and centre-back – both positions Rice can fill.
The report states the Red Devils are more likely to do business in the summer as they finalise a list of targets in the New Year.
Although if a specific target became available in January then they would make a move but club chiefs are not expecting any incomings at this stage.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are instead focusing on completing their squad overhaul across the next two windows.

And the Norwegian boss is said to rate England star Rice highly.
Rice has assumed the captaincy at West Ham with Mark Noble out of the starting side and has flourished in the role.
The Three Lions regular is contracted to the Hammers until 2024 and it is likely a substantial transfer fee will be needed to prise him away from the club.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is believed to be a big fan of Rice and the Blues are still favourites to land their man.

Rice has bagged one assist in 13 Premier League appearances this season, playing every minute in the Hammers’ campaign and helping David Moyes’ side to eighth place.
He made his 100th top flight start in the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
The bookies have slashed United’s odds with Rice a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman’s agent Mino Raiola has been extremely vocal about his need to leave United saying he was not happy and his time was ‘over’ at Old Trafford.
But Pogba released a passionate statement insisting he was ‘1,000 per cent’ committed to the cause.
Raiola then clarified a move in the summer was more likely as ‘top deals’ are hard to do in the winter window.

Man Utd revive Saul Niguez transfer interest with club looking to land Atletico Madrid star after previous failed bid

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly revived their interest in Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez.
The 26-year-old Spanish midfielder has been a long-term target for the Red Devils.

Now Todo Fichajes claims they have made him their top target to replace Paul Pogba.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are ready to pay up to £63million to bring him to Old Trafford.
However, Niguez’s release clause fee is worth £135m, and they may end up having to pay closer to that figure to get his signature.
Speculation over Pogba’s future has mounted again over recent weeks with Juventus keen to take him back to Italy.

His agent Mino Raiola revealed last week that the France international, 27, wants to leave for pastures new.
Despite Raiola’s outburst and Pogba’s total silence on the subject, the midfielder was then given a bizarre start in the 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Saturday.
But with just 18 months remaining on his current contract, Pogba’s second spell at the Theatre of Dreams looks to be coming to a certain end.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer wants to strengthen his squad in four positions.

The report says United are in the market for a winger, a centre-back, a right-back and a defensive midfielder.
And that Solskjaer and Woodward will identify their exact targets for each position by the end of the year.
And they could even be tempted to move for them should they become available next month.

Man Utd transfer plans revealed with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to strengthen in FOUR positions amid season woes

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has reportedly already identified FOUR positions he wants to strengthen to turn Manchester United into title contenders.
The Red Devils have crashed out of the Champions League this season and landed a tough tie against Spanish side Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

Away from Europe, they have also endured an up-and-down campaign domestically, although they could potentially move fifth with a big win at Sheffield United on Thursday night.
However, despite the club expecting a quiet January window, MEN claims Solskjaer has informed chief Ed Woodward of four targets he wants before the end of next summer.
The report says United are in the market for a winger, a centre-back, a right-back and a defensive midfielder.
And that Solskjaer and Woodward will identify their exact targets for each position by the end of the year – and they could even be tempted to move for them should they become available next month.

Dayot Upamecano is believed to be United’s No1 choice for central defence, although they are also keen on Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Brighton’s Ben White.
Real’s Lucas Vazquez has also been linked with the right back role to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka along with Atletico Madrid’s ex-Tottenham ace Kieran Trippier.
The England international is a boyhood fan of the Red Devils and only has 18 months left on his deal with the La Liga giants.
United are interested in West Ham’s Declan Rice to bolster their midfielder but Chelsea remain favourites for the £60m-rated star.

That could lead to Solskjaer looking into the possibility of recruiting Denis Zakaria from Borussia Moenchengladbach after his displays in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
They are also expected to resume their long-running pursuit of Jadon Sancho after missing out on the Borussia Dortmund winger in the summer.
And today’s report also states Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and Watford’s Ismail Sarr also both fit the bill as a ‘ready-made’ wide attacker that they are looking for.
United will attempt to make room for new additions by flogging unwanted players.
Both Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero will be available for transfer as they near the end of their contracts.
While they are believed to be open to offers for defensive duo Phil Jones and Eric Bailly.

Man Utd set to miss out on Hakan Calhanoglu transfer with midfielder close to agreeing new £4m-a-year AC Milan deal

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to miss out on Hakan Calhanoglu with the midfielder close to signing a new contract at AC Milan, according to reports.
German publication Bild recently claimed the Red Devils were ‘very, very likely’ to sign the Turkish midfielder on a free transfer next summer.

But now AC Milan are set to reward Calhanoglu’s strong form this season with a new contract worth £4m a year.
Milan have enjoyed a superb start to 2020-21, sitting top of Serie A after seasons dwindling in the mid-table.
And Calhanoglu, 26, has been a key figure, scoring five times and laying on a further five assists in 17 matches in all competitions.
Fearing they would lose the Turkey international on a free transfer, Tuttosport have claimed Milan have offered him a new and improved contract.

Calhanoglu had been stalling on a new contract, demanding around £5.5m per season – nearly double his current £3m-a-year deal.
But after talks, it’s believed the two clubs agreed to a compromise, with the midfield star set to pocket around £4m a season.
Clubs in Europe, including Man Utd, would have been able to kick-off pre-contract negotiations in January ahead of a free summer move.

Meanwhile, United are looking at Atletico Madrid’s former Tottenham star Kieran Trippier ahead of the January transfer window.

With just 18 months left on his contract in Spain, the England international is said to fancy a move to his boyhood club.
United are in desperate need of back-up at the right-back spot, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka currently the only first-team option.
Trippier is set to cost any potential suitor around £20million.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also thought to be keen on Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes in a bid to bolster his defensive ranks.

Man Utd ‘line up Kieran Trippier transfer to compete with Wan-Bissaka with boyhood fan keen on switch from Atletico’

MANCHESTER UNITED are retaining their interest in Kieran Trippier, according to reports.
With just 18 months left on his Atletico Madrid contract, the England international is said to fancy a move to his boyhood club.

Trippier grew up in Greater Manchester and starred for Burnley after coming through Manchester City’s academy.
According to MEN, a move to Old Trafford ‘appeals’ to the right-back.
Atletico were previously said to want just £20million for the 30-year-old, roughly the same fee they paid Tottenham for his services last year.
But Diego Simeone’s charge to the LaLiga title, with the side sat second with two games in hand, may force a re-think if a bid lands.

Trippier has played every minute of Los Rojiblancos’ campaign this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be able to call upon two highly-rated defenders if the move goes ahead.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the Norwegian’s first choice, with a number of youthful options behind him.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah has played three times this season but is out of contract in the summer.

United have reportedly offered the 22-year-old a new deal.
Right-footed left-back Brandon Williams came off the bench to replace Wan-Bissaka when he picked up an injury against Istanbul Basaksehir last month.

And academy defender Ethan Laird could also be called upon if needed.
Solskjaer sent Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot on loan to AC Milan in the summer and the Serie A side have openly discussed bidding for a permanent move.
Out of all of those options, Trippier would certainly be the most experienced with several Premier League seasons and 25 England caps under his belt.

Man Utd still keen on Nuno Mendes transfer with 18-year-old left-back eyed from Sporting Lisbon despite Alex Telles move

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly still keen on Sporting Lisbon’s 18-year-old left-back Nuno Mendes – despite swooping for Alex Telles in the summer.
O Jogo reports Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still interested in Mendes despite bolstering his options on the left side of defence by forking out an initial £13.6million on Telles from Porto on deadline day in October.

The Red Devils have been linked with the talented teenager throughout the year.
But they will face plenty of competition for his signature after it was reported that Real Madrid have joined the race for the Portuguese youngster.
Mendes made his first-team debut after lockdown earlier in 2020 and is also being tracked by Premier League champions Liverpool.
He became the second-youngest player to appear for Sporting behind United legend and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mendes shares an agent with Old Trafford talisman and former Sporting skipper Bruno Fernandes which could help facilitate a move.
He is believed to have a £40m release clause and may be at the centre of a January bidding war.
Juventus and Inter Milan have also been mentioned with his name and Mendes has impressed from the off this season, helping Sporting to the top of the Primeira Liga after nine games.
MAN UTD BETTING TIPS: United likely to beat Sheffield United, but expect both teams to score

Sporting are hoping to boost Mendes’ release clause up to £62m to try and ward off interest in their prized asset.
They are reportedly set to offer the youngster vastly improved terms on his £13,00- a-week wages but a new contract is yet to be agreed.
United have Alex Telles, 27, Luke Shaw, 25, and Brandon Williams, 20, already on their books so Mendes is likely to be one for the future at left-back.
Mendes has made eight league appearances for Sporting this term, netting one goal.
