Man Utd block Van de Beek from January loan transfer as Solskjaer plans for busy run of fixtures

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly blocked summer signing Donny van de Beek from leaving on loan in January.
The Dutch midfielder, 23, arrived at Old Trafford in the last window for £39million but has been starved of game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But with a busy run of fixtures ahead, Van de Beek has been told a temporary exit this month is off the cards, according to ESPN.
The ex-Ajax hero was told to consider a January move ahead of the delayed Euros this summer by Dutch icon Ronald de Boer.
Van de Beek has started just TWO out of league leaders United’s 19 Prem games so far this season.
The talented ace has made eight further appearances off the bench but has clocked up just 249 minutes with his opportunities largely restricted to cup games.

And Van de Beek may be handed a rare chance to shine in Sunday’s fourth round FA Cup tie at home to Liverpool.
He started the third-round win over Watford and left fans drooling with two gorgeous flicks.
BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand questioned Van de Beek’s strange predicament at his old club.
Despite his lack of minutes, Van de Beek is still putting in the hard yards on the training pitch at Carrington, according to Edwin van der Sar.

The former Red Devils and Holland No1 – now chief exec at Ajax – praised his compatriot’s ‘fantastic attitude’ and said there’s ‘no shame at all’ in warming the United bench.
Many have criticised Van de Beek’s choice to come to United with Bruno Fernandes already bossing the show in the middle of the park.
Former manager at the Theatre of Dreams, Louis Van Gaal, revealed he didn’t think it was a ‘good choice’.
And to make things worse for United’s No34, the man who convinced him to join – international colleague Timothy Fosu-Mensah – quit Old Trafford earlier this month to join Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Solskjaer has given his backing to his unused star as the Norwegian said: “I’ve spoken to him and made him aware of how much we rate him.”

Man Utd can sign Douglas Costa thanks to Fifa transfer loophole as Juve want to cut short Bayern loan and move him on

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly been given the green light to sign Douglas Costa thanks to a Fifa transfer loophole.
The Brazilian winger, 30, is on loan at Bayern Munich from Juventus after moving to the Bundesliga having featured in two Serie A games for the Old Lady at the start of the season.

And ordinarily players are not allowed to play for three sides in a single season.
But Gazzetta dello Sport reports Fifa will allow stars to don three different shirts in one campaign given the exceptional circumstances of the pandemic.
And the Italian outlet suggests Bayern are happy to let Juve recall the forward after he failed to even make Hansi Flick’s bench for Sunday’s 2-1 win over Freiburg.
Wonderkid Jumal Musiala, 17, has had more game time than Costa with the wideman restricted to just 281 minutes in the Bundesliga and seemingly surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena.

The report states Bayern will not extend Costa’s stay beyond this season and he could even be brought back early by the Bianconeri, who are keen to offload him.
United and Wolves are two clubs that could offer Costa a Premier League home.
But one potential stumbling block is his salary with the player taking home well over £100,000 a week.
Clubs may find it tough to find the funds to match even half his annual wages during the coronavirus crisis.

When asked about Costa’s omission from the bench despite nine spots being available in Germany, Bayern boss Flick said: “We have many healthy and high-level players.
“We had to make choices, it’s good that this is the case.”
Portuguese-speaking Costa could join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as a replacement for Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, who swapped Molineux for Anfield in the summer for £45million.

Man Utd could complete Jadon Sancho transfer this month with ‘no one stopping them, if they feel confident’

MANCHESTER UNITED could reportedly finally complete a deal for Jadon Sancho this month with ‘no one stopping them, if they feel confident’.
The Red Devils made England star Sancho, 20, their No1 summer transfer target but were unable to get a £108million deal over the line.

Journalist and German football expert Raphael Honigstein suggests a deal at the end of January is ‘inherently possible’.
But he adds that although terms may be agreed in this window, Sancho is unlikely to arrive at Carrington until the end of the season.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast, Honigstein said: “Everybody in Dortmund knows nothing will happen in January.
“The player is not agitating for a move, there’s a very clear agreement that transfers of that magnitude at Dortmund will only happen in the summer.

“There was a big transfer announced in January a couple of years ago. That was Christian Pulisic [to Chelsea].
“But remember, even his deal was the deal for the summer.
“So no one’s stopping United, if they went out, and felt really confident, to say, ‘let’s do this deal now, let’s make sure we get in now’.
“And maybe then announce it at the end of January. That’s inherently possible.”

But Honigstein explained that he expects negotiations to begin in the spring ahead of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
He added: “We just haven’t seen or heard anything to suggest that they are indeed ready and willing to come back to that negotiation at the moment.
“I think everyone at Dortmund is under no illusions that the player wants to leave.
“But they think that the offers and the real negotiations will start closer to towards spring when clubs are perhaps in a better position to understand how much money they’ll have available for their transfer window in the summer.”
Dortmund bosses are unlikely to lower their valuation of Sancho – who still has two-and-a-half-years left on his contract.
The transfer fee, agent payments and wages were all thought to be behind last summer’s move failing.
After a relatively slow start to the campaign, Sancho is now enjoying a spell of good form – hitting two goals and two assists in four Bundesliga games.
A refreshing winter break is said to have hugely helped him, with Edin Terzic’s side fourth in the table and seven points off leaders Bayern Munich.

Man Utd transfer signing Amad Diallo dropped surname amid allegations of child trafficking in Italy

AMAD DIALLO will have his first name on the back of his No 19 shirt at Manchester United.
A £37million arrival, Diallo is his middle name as Traore is the surname on his passport.

The former Atalanta winger has dropped Traore because of an unsettling story alleging child trafficking.
Amad, 18, and his brother Hamed, 20, who plays for Serie A side Sassuolo, moved from the Ivory Coast to Italy on a family visa more than six years ago.
They arrived with their father Hamed Mamadou Traore and mother Marina Edwige Carine Teher.
But prosecutors in Parma allege that they are not the parents of either player. It is also claimed the two may not even be brothers.

Three other adults have also been questioned over concerns more kids have been illegally brought in from the Ivory Coast.
Football agent Giovanni Damiano Drago told Italian police last summer of concerns over underage players arriving in Italy illegally on bogus visas.

Neither of the two players are under investigation but they were questioned by police.
As both were under 18 at the time of the alleged offences, they cannot be charged.

DNA tests have been carried out as part of the probe, while properties have also been searched.
If found guilty, the five adults face up to three years in jail.

    KEEP YOUR KOUL
LIVERPOOL have been quoted a staggering £100million by Napoli for Kalidou Koulibaly.
Certainly a bit different to the summer of 2015 when the Italians had agreed a £6.9m transfer with Norwich.
Defender Koulibaly was also happy to move to Norfolk and the only reason he stayed was that Napoli failed to get either of their two targets.
In contrast, the Canaries are probably glad Sebastien Haller turned them down as soon as he looked around their training ground which, before the current redevelopment, was less than impressive.

    LIKE A PILL
CAMBRIDGE were famous in the early 90s for giving away teams cold changing rooms, flat footballs to practise with and luke-warm tea.
However, one EFL chief revealed his club has a subtle approach to getting one over the opposition.
They created a false pillar in the away dressing room to ensure not all of the players can see the boss for the team talk.
But the mischievous boss is keeping his club secret as the pillar could probably be shoved out of the way by suspicious visitors.

Man Utd lining up £11m transfer bid for Facundo Medina but will loan 21-year-old defender back to Lens for season

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly lining up a move for Lens’ talented young defender Facundo Medina.
The Argentina centre back has impressed in France since swapping his homeland for Ligue 1 in a £2.7million move from Talleres last summer.

According to La Voix du Nord, via Sport Witness, United are ‘very serious’ about signing the 21-year-old.
The report adds that the Red Devils could ‘rapidly and officially’ launch an £11m offer to land Medina.
United could then tempt Lens with the possibility of sending the defender back on loan to the Ligue 1 club for the rest of the season.

Yet the chances of Medina of leaving Lens this month are said to be slim despite the pursuit from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
The former River Plate star has featured 11 times for Franck Haise’s team in Ligue 1 this season, scoring once.
His form earned him a first call-up to Argentina’s senior squad in September last year.
Medina then made his debut for his country the following month as a late substitute in their World Cup qualifying victory over Bolivia.

And he continues to attract interest from a number of sides in January despite struggling with knee problems of late.

Man Utd ‘to re-enter Jadon Sancho transfer talks in spring ahead of Euros’ after failed move from Dortmund last summer

MANCHESTER UNITED will have to wait until the spring to re-commence talks over Jadon Sancho, it has been claimed.
Borussia Dortmund held out against the Red Devils’ attempts to sign the England winger last summer.

But a fresh bid ahead of the Euros cannot be ruled out with Sancho again hitting form in the Bundesliga.
German journalist Raphael Honigstein has told Sky Sports that a move in January is off the table.
Instead clubs could reportedly begin negotiations in the spring for a switch at the end of the season.
Borussia are seen as unlikely to lower their valuation of the 20-year-old, who still has two-and-a-half-years left on his contract.

The transfer fee, agent payments and wages were all thought to be behind last summer’s move failing.
And Sancho is happy to focus on Dortmund matters amid the rumours.

But United may have to act fast if the player does become a feasible target once again.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are just two clubs who could decide to take a serious interest in Sancho.

If either side can meet Borussia’s demands, a deal could be agreed quickly.

The prospect of the forward starring for England in the summer’s Euros could also lead to a bidding war for his services.
After a relatively slow start to the campaign, Sancho is now enjoying a spell of good form – hitting three goals and three assists in four games.
A refreshing winter break is said to have hugely helped him, with Edin Terzic’s side fourth in the table and seven points off leaders Bayern Munich.

Man Utd and Chelsea have not made transfer bids for West Ham star Declan Rice as David Moyes issues hands-off warning

DAVID MOYES has issued a hands-off warning as Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly eye-up a move for Declan Rice.
Neither side has yet made a bid but are said to be interested in the England international.

The 22-year-old, who can play in midfield or defence, has continued to impress this season having scored his first England goal against Iceland in November.
He has attracted interest from Chelsea and United – but Moyes revealed neither have firmed that up with a formal offer.
Chelsea released the player in 2014 and will have to pay a significant amount of money if they wish to re-sign him.
United are reportedly preparing to rival the Blues in a £70million transfer battle.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to want a defensive midfielder and a centre-back in the summer.
But Rice remains a key part of Moyes’ team having played in all 38 Premier League games last season.
The London club have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, winning eight Premier League games – the same amount as Chelsea.
Moyes said: “They’re not true [rumours of a bid], we’ve had no contact from either of those clubs regarding Declan and we wouldn’t want any anyway.

“He’s doing great for us, he’s a big leader now, he’s taken a lot of the weight off Mark Noble. He’s turning out to be a really good player but also a really good boy and good around the club.”

Valencia owner Peter Lim drops Juan Mata transfer hint as he eyes bringing star back to club on free from Man Utd

MANCHESTER UNITED star Juan Mata could be on the verge of a return to Valencia, according to reports in Spain.
Owner Peter Lim has welcomed the signing of the former Spanish international, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

According to Spanish newspaper La Razon, Lim is happy to sign Mata because Valencia will not have to pay a transfer fee.
The 32-year-old has struggled to hold down a place at United in recent years, making just 19 Premier League appearances last season.
He played for Valencia between 2007 and 2011 before moving to Chelsea.
But Mata may reject Lim’s advances due to the owner’s lack of popularity at the club.

Valencia reportedly gave their players IOU notes in August 2020 because they could not afford to pay them.
They are also at risk of being relegated from LaLiga for the first time since 1986.

They currently sit 14th, just three points above Elche in the relegation zone having played two games more.

A win against Valladolid last weekend has boosted their survival hopes.
Mata has won plenty of trophies during his career, including the World Cup, Euros and Champions League.
He joined Manchester United from Chelsea in January 2014 for a then club-record fee of £37.1million.

Lim purchased Valencia in 2014 and was responsible for hiring Gary Neville as manager in December 2015.
Neville was sacked in March 2016 with the lowest win percentage in LaLiga history for a Valencia manager.
Lim is also a shareholder in League Two side Salford City, which Neville co-owns.
