Man Utd willing to wait until end of season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer contract extension talks with just 16 months left

MANCHESTER UNITED will wait until the end of the season before opening contract talks with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils are second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Manchester City.

But club chiefs want to keep fighting for the title and qualify for the Champions League before Solskjaer is offered a new deal.
The Norwegian has just 16 months left and SunSport understands United could hand him another two-year deal.
They are willing to give Solskjaer, 47, an increase in wages, taking his annual salary to around £6million before bonuses.
But his team have been inconsistent, including a shock recent home loss to Sheffield United.

And on top of their Champions League group stage exit, concerns have been raised.
Solskjaer is set to field a strong side in the FA Cup fifth round clash with West Ham on Tuesday night.
David De Gea is set to be dropped to the bench, with back-up goalkeeper Dean Henderson getting another chance.
The United boss said: “Dean has played well when he’s got the chance. He’s developed his game.

“He’s working hard on a couple of aspects that we’ve spoken about and I’ve been impressed.
“He wants to play every game because he knows he will perform well.”
United legend Rio Ferdinand believes that despite the club sitting second in the table, they are out of the title race following their draw against Everton.
The former centre-back said: “You can’t defend it. At the end of the day Man Utd were sitting pretty at the top of the league.
“We didn’t come into this season expecting to be title challengers. We were too far behind Liverpool (last season). You can’t expect to have a turnaround that big to win the league, it’s impossible.
“But I’m like all the other fans. You see the league table, you look at the results, you get excited. When you put yourself in that position, Man Utd have to strike. You’re there now and there’s an opportunity.
“When there’s an opportunity you’ve got to go. The problem is we’ve let this opportunity slip through our hands. You can see Man City with their experience, they’ve smelt blood, they’ve put their heads down, they’ve gone.

“But United have stuttered, we’ve got the choke going, haven’t got it quite working properly. We have choked, it’s simple as that.
“I’d put us out of the title challenge unless we go on a run and we change our habits and our lack of consistency.
“But I haven’t seen enough to suggest we can go on a ten, 15-game winning streak. We’re tripping ourselves up all the time. It’s top four, we’ll finish second or third.”

Man Utd wonderkid Shola Shoretire, 17, signs first pro contract just days after scoring stunning hat-trick for U23s

On Monday, the club confirmed the agreement with the young winger.
Shoretire is just the latest wonderkid to emerge from the United academy, which he joined when he was nine.
Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood have all cemented their place in the first-team having graduated in recent years.
Reports before the signing was announced suggested Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will soon make Shoretire the latest youngster to reach the first-team.

But a United statement indicated that the spotlight will be kept off him for now.
It read: “Shoretire will be looking to hone his talents behind the scenes and maintain his development at the club in the coming months and years.”

The winger was being tracked by the likes of Barcelona and Juventus while United looked to seal his future.

Clubs have been aware of Shoretire for some time after he broke the Uefa Youth League record for youngest-ever player, at the age of 14 years and 314 days.
Having scored in last season’s FA Youth Cup quarter-final win over Wigan, he has five goals and three assists in the U23-level Premier League 2 this term.
England have already moved to bag the talent, who is thought to also be eligible for Nigeria, and he is capped at Under-16 level.

Sergio Ramos has knee surgery and set for months on sidelines in blow to Real Madrid legend’s Man Utd transfer hopes

OneFootball are reporting the 34-year-old had surgery on his left knee to fix his meniscus.
Ramos is likely to be out for around six to eight weeks, which would rule him out of both legs of Real’s clash with Atalanta.
The first leg is due to take place in Italy on February 24, with the return on March 16.
Ramos will also miss Real’s trip to city rivals Atletico Madrid on March 7.

He could miss ten La Liga matches in total, starting with tomorrow’s game against SD Huesca.
The defending champions are currently 10 points behind leaders Atletico, having played a game more.

Real may have to get used to life without Ramos, as reports have linked him with a summer move to Manchester United.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and recently liked an Instagram picture claiming he will be leaving the Spanish giants.
Ramos has been an ever-present figure in Real’s defence since his move from Sevilla in 2005.
He has made more than 650 appearances for the club and is fourth on the all-time list, behind Raul, Iker Casillas and Manuel Sanchis.

Ramos will be hoping for a quick and easy recovery, as any complications could scupper a summer move.
United are not the only club interested, with Manchester City said to be weighing up a contract offer for the World Cup winner.
There are also rumours of him joining French champions PSG.

Chelsea enter transfer race for Jadon Sancho with Dortmund resigned to losing him to Prem giant as Man Utd circle

CHELSEA are set to rival Manchester United in the transfer racefor Jadon Sancho, reports say.
The forward was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer but United refused to meet Dortmund’s £108million price-tag.

Sancho remained in Germany where he has managed eight goals in 25 appearances.
It has kept demand for the 20-year-old high, with Chelsea now interested in a move for the winger, according to Sport1.
They report Dortmund have accepted they will finally lose Sancho in the next window, likely to a Premier League side.
German outfit Bild recently revealed the Bundesliga club will let him leave if they receive an offer in the region of £88m.

The coronavirus pandemic is having a brutal financial impact on football and clubs are being forced to lower their prices for their main assets.
Dortmund are believed to be facing losses of £66m and the sale of Sancho would help cover the debts.
The England international will also be another year closer to the end of his contract in Germany which expires in the summer of 2023.
Sancho scored 17 goals in 32 league matches on the way to becoming one of the hottest properties in Europe last season.

But he has suffered a dip in form this Bundesliga campaign, scoring just three times.
As a result, it is believed to have contributed in his price tag being sliced to £88m.
United remain interested in Sancho despite signing Amad Diallo in a deal set to total £37m.

Marcos Rojo ‘found out about Man Utd exit via Twitter’ after ending seven-year Old Trafford stay to join Boca Juniors

MARCOS ROJO reportedly discovered his time at Manchester United was up on Twitter.
ESPN claims the Argentine defender, 30, read he would not be offered a contract extension on social media before returning to his homeland to join Boca Juniors.

The report suggests Rojo was still waiting to hear from United chiefs to see if they would take up the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months into 2022.
But boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed in a January press conference that the Red Devils would allow Rojo to leave – supposedly before anyone had spoken to the player himself.
At the time, Solskjaer spoke about Rojo and compatriot Sergio Romero and said: “Both of them have contracts until the summer and they’re not going to be extended.
“We’re looking for them to find clubs. Marcos has been given time to go home, so he’s still in Argentina.

“Sergio has been back home as well to see his family but they’re pros, working hard and ready if they call in for us. Marcos will have to travel and do the quarantine before.”
Rojo had arrived at Old Trafford in 2014 as Louis Van Gaal’s first signing.
The club paid Sporting Lisbon £16million for his services after he impressed in Argentina’s run to the 2014 World Cup final.
In March 2018, Rojo was handed a new three-year deal with the option of an extra year.

But he made just 12 appearances in the starting XI since penning the extension.
On Tuesday, he sealed his move to Boca Juniors after making 122 appearances for United.
Officially, United stated they received an undisclosed fee for Rojo but ESPN claims his deal was ended by mutual consent and he arrived as a free agent in South America.
The move to Boca was sensationally leaked by Rojo’s personal trainer who spilled that he was training with the side on social media.
But Rojo has already suffered an immediate setback after he was injured in his first official training session, reportedly suffering an issue due to inactivity.
He has not played competitively for 15 months after becoming a peripheral figure at United before his departure.

Wayne Rooney raids Man Utd for youngster Teden Mengi as Derby sign defender, 18, on loan transfer until end of season

Having joined until the end of the season, Mengi told Rams TV: “I’m really excited and I’m buzzing to be here.
“When I first heard Derby County were interested, it was a no-brainer for me to be in the Championship against good opponents and to be playing men’s football. I am really happy to be here.
“I think I did well in the Under-23s last season so I think I need a new challenge. I am a fighter with a willingness to defend and a ball-playing centre-back and vocal as well. I am ready to kick on and this is a brilliant opportunity for me.”
Mengi, 18, also admitted that Rooney played a big part in attracting him to the Rams.

He continued: “He has been brilliant.
“As soon as I found out Derby were interested, Wayne was on the phone. He was telling me what the club is about and what he wants from me. He has been brilliant with me so far.”
On the nature of the move, the highly-rated defender added: “They tell you the situation and ask you how you feel about it. At the end of the day, it is down to the player to make the decision.
“I did have the conversations with the coaches and they thought this would be brilliant for me and brilliant for my development as I am still young in the game, but I will try to thrive for more.”

The move comes with the Championship side in the midst of financial concerns while they wait for a takeover by Sheikh Khaled’s Derventio Holdings to go through.
Rooney is said to have stepped in to help the Rams out by deferring a portion of his £90,000-a-week wages to ensure his players get paid.
Derby sit 18th in the table having won their last three matches.
Mengi has been training regularly with United’s first team squad and made his debut in the Europa League against LASK last season.
The Premier League title contenders have already cut short winger Tahith Chong’s loan at Werder Bremen so he can instead join Club Brugge.
And in a similar move, James Garner ended his spell at Watford to move to Nottingham Forest.
United have so far only made one signing this month, completing the £37million move for winger Amad Diallo from Atalanta.
They have shipped out 12 players since the start of the season, however, including Jesse Lingard on loan to West Ham and releasing striker Odion Ighalo.

Man Utd outcast Marcos Rojo transfer to Boca Juniors leaked by personal trainer as he shows off incredible ripped body

MARCOS ROJO’S personal trainer has leaked the Manchester United outcast’s next destination.
The 30 year-old’s move to Boca Juniors was revealed alongside a photo of the defender showing off his impressive six-pack after a punishing gym session.

Marcos Rojo has been working out in an Argentine gym ahead of the move

Carlos Castro, in a message on the Facebook page of La Plata gym Castro Team Competicion, said: “Marcos Rojo is happy, improving day by day and about to begin training with Boca.
“As his trainer I’m impressed at the physical capacity he has, his recovery and that extra temperament typical of a great high-performance athlete.”
A revealing PS added: “Very good Boca signing, he looks like a Boca player.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had confirmed the imminent exits of Rojo and unwanted goalie Sergio Romero earlier this month.

The Red Devils asked both players to find moves away ahead of their contracts expiring in the summer.
Former United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron had appeared to pile pressure on Rojo to tempt the player back to Estudiantes, where he started his career and enjoyed a loan spell in the second half of last season.
The retired footballer, now president of Estudiantes, subsequently insisted his messages were not directed at the defender.
The future of Romero, filmed by his wife cutting his daughter’s hair earlier this week, remains less clear.

Brighton and Crystal Palace have been named as possible destinations for the outcast, who has also been linked to Boca Juniors and a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
He broke cover after being given permission to return to Argentina by taking a trimmer to eldest child Jazmin’s locks.
Wife Eliana Guercio, who took a long break from social media after a controversial rant at United for refusing to let him leave the club last year, posted the video on her Instagram.
She could be overheard saying ‘perfect’ as Romero, linked in the last week to a move to Brighton, focused on the job in hand and younger sister Chloe jumped around after having her hair trimmed.
The footage was shot in Argentina, with the 33-year-old bare-chested while he got to work because the South American nation is currently in the grip of a summer heatwave.
Despite his return to his homeland, Romero’s wife recently downplayed the possibility he would sign for an Argentine team such as former club Racing.

A fan asked her earlier this month if she was going to stay in Argentina with her husband, after Racing’s president Victor Blanco claimed he would love to have the footballer back between the sticks.
She replied: “I’m here because of the pandemic.
“When all this madness calms down I want to get back with Sergio.
“No clubs in Argentina have rung, so that if someone is saying they have, they’re lying.”

Man Utd transfer target Dayot Upamecano will be SOLD by RB Leipzig in summer as £38m release clause activates

MANCHESTER UNITED will compete with several rivals for Dayot Upamecano this summer, according to reports.
Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have all been linked with the Frenchman following his rapid rise at RB Leipzig.

Upamecano was an integral part of the Bundesliga side’s run to last year’s Champions League semi-finals.
But it appears as though this season will be his last at Leipzig with a new contract agreed in 2020 containing a bargain release clause.
The centre-back will be available for £38million when the clause activates at the end of the campaign.
Therefore, clubs are expected to hold off on negotiating a deal until the summer.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, United are among the teams waiting for the right moment to pounce.
A new centre-back was thought to be high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s agenda last summer.

Competition for Upamecano will come from several quarters with Chelsea now thought to be keen.
New boss Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants the 22-year-old instead of predecessor Frank Lampard’s target, Declan Rice.

Liverpool are also said to be lurking with interest as they struggle to cope with a defensive injury crisis.
However, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are expected to return from long-term injuries before the start of next season.

Bundesliga giants Bayern may be in pole position for the transfer with Upamecano reportedly favouring a move to Bavaria.
According to German website Fussball Transfers, the defender has held numerous conversations with Munich bosses.
Yet Bayern may attempt to seal a deal for less than his £38m release clause, in the hope that Leipzig will accept a lower fee amid the coronavirus pandemic’s financial crash.

Premier League clubs are targeting RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano More
