Monchengladbach star Rami Bensebaini sends Man Utd ‘come-and-get-me’ transfer plea after failed Arsenal trial

BUNDESLIGA star Rami Bensebaini has sent Manchester United a ‘come and get me’ appeal.
The Borussia Monchengladbach defender and former Arsenal triallist said he has been a lifelong Red Devils fan – and wants to play in England.

Left-back Bensebaini has won the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria, and the French Cup with Rennes.
Rated at £20million, he has helped Borussia into the Champions League last 16 following a fourth-place league finish last season
Bensebaini also revealed his plans to foil his pal and national team-mate Riyad Mahrez when the Germans face Manchester City next week.
The 25-year-old told BBC Afrique: “I have been a Manchester United fan since I was very little.

“The Premier League has always attracted me. Everyone knows that I am a United fan.
“I am with Gladbach for now, and I am happy with them.
“But if one day I get the opportunity to make an upward step, and have a change of scene, I will seriously think about it.”
Arsene Wenger handed Bensebaini a month-long trial with Arsenal in 2013 during his time with Algerian side Paradou AC.

The defender recalled: “I joined Arsenal’s academy. I stayed around a month, and trained with their first team.
“But it was complicated as I didn’t speak English then. Five or six different coaches had to make the decision.
“I also would have needed a European passport to stay. I hung round with the likes of Bacary Sagna and Marouane Chamakh.
“I had gone from the Algerian third division to Arsenal. It was bizarre how quickly things went.
“I ended up leaving, and going to play in Belgium.”
Bensebaini is under contract until 2023. Signed from Rennes in 2019, he has also played for Lierse and Montpellier.

He faces a tough task to thwart Mahrez and Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City next Wednesday.
However he maintained: “I have trained alongside Riyad, and played an Africa Cup of Nations alongside him.
“So I know a bit about how he plays. He is a great player, and it’s down to me to find a way to stop him.
“He is a nice guy, he is very strong, he always listens to advice and knows where he has come from.
“If you possess all those qualities, take things seriously and work as hard as he does, you are sure to be a success.”

Man Utd joined by Real Madrid in David Carmo transfer race as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes £36m-rated Braga defender

MANCHESTER UNITED face a transfer battle with Real Madrid for Braga’s £36m-rated defender David Carmo as the Spanish giants look for a replacement for Sergio Ramos.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have been tracking the 21-year-old star this season, having watched his excellent performances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Braga’s David Carmo is wanted by Manchester United and Real Madrid

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof were heavily criticised for their performance in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at strugglers West Brom, with pundits once again claiming Solskjaer needs reinforcements at centre back.
But now Real are heading to the front of the queue for Carmo, with the La Liga side’s president Florentino Perez friends with his Braga counterpart, Antonio Salvador, according to AS.
Los Blancos’ captain Sergio Ramos is still in a bitter contract dispute with Bernabeu chiefs after 16 years with the club, leading to them compiling a list of defensive targets.
Ramos is also on United’s wanted list – with any Real move for Carmo potentially paving the way for the Spain skipper to move to Old Trafford.

PSG are also in the hunt for 34-year-old Ramos, having lost an experienced defender with Thiago Silva’s move to Chelsea last summer.
BETS OF THE DAY: GET MAN CITY AT 6/1 TO WIN TONIGHT – PLUS RONALDO TO SCORE 2+ GOALS BOOSTED

A Real move for Carmo could clear Sergio Ramos’ path to Old Trafford

Carmo currently faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in last week’s cup semi-final draw with Porto but was tipped to feature in Portugal’s squad for the Euros.

He was reportedly close to a move to Liverpool last month as Jurgen Klopp frantically searched for a deputy for the injured Virgil can Dijk.
According to AS, however, the Anfield side were only ready to offer £17m – well below Braga’s valuation.
United, meanwhile, are ready to jump back in the chase for the left-footed centre back in the summer but will now have to compete with Real Madrid for his signature along with as many as ten other clubs.
Carmo is contracted to Braga until 2025 and the Portuguese side rejected a £15m from Roma last summer.

Man Utd youngster Dylan Levitt joins Croatian minnows NK Istra on loan transfer until end of season to win Euros spot

MANCHESTER UNITED youngster Dylan Levitt has joined Croatian minnows NK Istra on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old midfielder spent the first half of the season on loan at League One side Charlton.

But Levitt was recalled six months early having played just five times.
Desperate for a spot in Wales’ squad for this summer’s delayed European Championship, Levitt has jumped at the chance at another move.
The Croatian transfer window is one of few in Europe still open.
And Levitt is eager to get down to work at NK Istra – the bottom-ranked club in the Croatian top-flight.

Levitt’s agent, Ivan Omrcen, revealed: “He immediately agreed to comewhen we explained how much he will have to give in Istria.
    “Dylan loves challenges.”
The loan deal does not include an option to make the move permanent in the summer, with United keen to cling on to the young midfielder and monitor his progression.
But reports claim Levitt is excited at the prospect of a stint abroad, surprised and impressed by the scouting from the Croatian basement-boys.

NK Istra sit tenth in the ten-team division with 14 points from their 20 games, four points adrift of ninth-placed NK Lokomotiva.
European giants Dinamo Zagreb are streets ahead atop the pile on 48 points, above the likes of Hajduk Split and Rijeka.
Levitt has played just once for Man Utd, having been given his debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Europa League loss to Astana in November 2019.
The young midfielder hopes a run of games in the build-up to the summer will help secure himself a spot in the Wales squad for the upcoming Euros.

Man Utd transfer target Jadon Sancho’s Dortmund exit ‘set in stone’ and he could be one of four stars sold in summer

MANCHESTER UNITED target Jadon Sancho’s departure from Borussia Dortmund is reportedly ‘set in stone’.
The Red Devils failed to land their No1 transfer target last summer as they refused to meet BVB’s £108million asking price.

Struggling Dortmund are set to cash in on a number of players if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.
Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Freiburg – their third in four league games – leaves Edin Terzic’s side down in sixth spot, four points off the top four.
And journalist Constantin Eckner reports Sancho’s exit is ‘set in stone’, while Gio Reyna and Raphael Guerriero could also be sold.
The German side are keen to hold onto star Norwegian striker Erling Haaland for at least another season.

Haaland’s sensational goalscoring form has seen him attract interest from a number of European giants including United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Reports had suggested United may be able to snare Sancho at a cut-price bargain after his form dropped off this season.
A reduction of up to £20m off Dortmund’s valuation had been talked about.
But ESPN Bundesliga reporter Archie Rhind-Tutt has suggested he will still be highly in-demand this summer – and is unlikely to come cheap.

Man Utd’s biggest transfers ever, both in and out, including Ronaldo

When put to him that Sancho would go for half of what was being talked about in 2020, Rhind-Tutt replied: “I disagree with that. I think that he’s still had a decent season amongst these circumstances.
“Okay, he had a dip at the start, but I don’t think that Jadon Sancho leaving last summer would have had any impact.
“The bigger problems here are the way that this squad is being constructed.
“That, Roman Burki, despite his ability to stand up after theg ame and bluntly make his analysis – I’d say in a good fashion – I don’t think he’s the goalkeeper that Borussia Dortmund need right now.
“I think you have leaders in the side who need to be focusing on their own game.

“Marco Reus seems like an unwilling parent to a lot of these younger players in the squad.
“We see young talent a lot of the time, and we think ‘Oh wow, why can’t this all come together?’ But the chemistry is lacking in this Dortmund side – you see it, week in, week out.
“You look at examples of young teams in the past and how they gel like Manchester United in the 90s – that was the exception, not the rule.
“And I think we are seeing what the rule looks like at Borussia Dortmund – if you throw together so much young talent, they are learning on the job, they are going to be inconsistent.
“So that is part of the reason why we are seeing Dortmund in the form they are in.”

Man Utd must be patient with Amad Diallo as 18-year-old wonderkid finds his feet in English football, warns coach

MANCHESTER UNITED were urged to be patient with wonderkid Amad Diallo by the club’s Under-23s coach Neil Wood.
Diallo, 18, arrived at Old Trafford in January for £37million from Serie A side Atalanta.

And the Ivorian-born forward has caused quite a stir with two stunning performances in United’s youth side – bagging three goal and three assists.
One piece of stunning link-up play with French prodigy Hannibal Mejbri in the 6-4 win over Blackburn left Red Devils fans drooling.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer included the teenager in the first-team squad for the FA Cup tie against West Ham but he remained on the bench as United won 1-0 after extra time.
Wood said: “You see he has ability and he’s linking up well.

“He doesn’t really have a relationship with any of these boys here but he came to Liverpool on Saturday and did well and the same against Blackburn.
“He’s training with the first team and doing well and he’s still new to England and the style of football so it’s going to take time.
“Like all young players you have to be patient with them.
“He’s gaining more confidence as the days go on.”

After Scott McTominay’s winner gave United a quarter-final tie away at Leicester, Solskjaer praised Diallo’s impact.
The Norwegian told MUTV: “Amad has been bright when he’s come in.
“He’s done really well with the reserves games and he’s a player who can create things out of nothing so he’s there if we need something.”
Diallo has been fined £42,000 over claims forged documents and fake parents brought him to Europe.
The winger moved to Italy from the Ivory Coast with his brother Hamed in 2015.
He arrived using the surname Traore but dropped the name amid allegations of child trafficking.

A centre-back to partner Harry Maguire remains top priority with the club also looking to bring in an attacking force.

    Erling Haaland

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, 20, is Europe’s hottest property after bagging a sensational 38 goals and nine assists in just 40 games for the Bundesliga side in all competitions.
He turned down a move to Old Trafford to join Dortmund in January 2020 and Solskjaer has plenty of work to do if he is to convince his fellow Norwegian to sign on the dotted line.

Reports suggest Real Madrid are gunning for either Haaland or PSG’s Kylian Mbappe this summer.
Manchester City are also eyeing Haaland as the long-term successor to Sergio Aguero at the Etihad and are said to be plotting a £100m bid with Chelsea and Liverpool also keen.
If United could secure Haaland to lead their line it would undoubtedly be a major coup but would also leave a huge dent in their finances.

    Jadon Sancho

Haaland’s Dortmund team-mate Sancho was United’s No1 transfer target last summer but a £108m move never materialised.
The Red Devils have renewed hope of finally landing their man after reports suggested the England star is 90 per cent likely to leave BVB in the next window.
Solskjaer missed out on former City youth star Sancho as the club failed to meet Dortmund’s lofty valuation but they are now thought to have hacked £20m off their asking price.
Dortmund need to raise funds and Sancho is said to be on an EIGHT-man shortlist of players to get the axe.
    Sergio Ramos

United have made no secret of their desire to bag a centre-back to team up with Maguire in the heart of defence.
Spanish skipper Sergio Ramos’ contract at Real Madrid expires this summer and he will become a free agent.
Ramos, 34, is currently sidelined after a knee op but is in the middle of a stand-off with Los Blancos over an extension and could look for pastures new with PSG also in the frame.
United are weighing up a move but are reportedly yet to make contact with the player’s agent.
Old Trafford chiefs would hope Ramos could have a similar impact to the impression made by Thiago Silva at Chelsea.
    Ibrahima Konate

Manchester United are reportedly battling Chelsea for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, 21.
Konate has impressed alongside Dayot Upamecano for the Germans – who now seems destined for Bayern Munich.
Konate fits United’s desire to bring in younger players and is valued in the region of £40m.
Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe have all had chances with captain Maguire this season but United want someone else to come in and nail down the spot and the Frenchman could be the perfect man.
    Pedro Goncalves

United are thought to have enquired about Sporting Lisbon’s attacking midfielder Pedro Goncalves.
After also pinching Bruno Fernandes from the Portuguese side, the Red Devils could be set for another raid to swoop for his replacement.
Goncalves joined Sporting in August last year for just £5.85m from Famalicao and has helped drive Sporting towards the title with 14 goals in 15 league appearances.
The Mail reports he has a £53m release clause which Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are ready to activate as they look to pip their rivals to the deal.

Man Utd have ‘no more chance’ to sign Dayot Upamecano but are linked with stunning transfer for Sergio Ramos or Varane

MANCHESTER UNITED have ‘no chance’ of signing Dayot Upamecano, according to reports in Germany.
The Red Devils are itching to bring in a new defensive partner for Harry Maguire, with Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly failing to prove they’re worthy of a place in a title-chasing side.

Man Utd have ‘no more chance’ of signing Upamecano, say reports in GermanyCredit: EPA

United joined Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to sign RB Leipzig superstar Upamecano earlier this season.
But BILD’s head of football, Christian Falk, has confirmed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co are NOT in the running.
Falk tweeted: “True, Man Utd have no more chance for a transfer of Dayot Upamecano.”
Man Utd will now turn their attentions to their other defensive targets.

Among the biggest names, United are shock contenders in the running for Real Madrid duo Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.
Ramos, 34, is believed to be keen on a move to Old Trafford after a chat with his former team-mate – and United legend – David Beckham.
The Real Madrid captain’s deal expires at the end of the season and he is already free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-Spanish clubs.
Ramos wanted a two-year contract extension but, as per club policy, Los Blancos were initially unwilling to above one additional year, given his age.

After finally caving, Real Madrid offered the Spain legend a two-year deal.
But Ramos rejected it after Los Blancos asked him to take a ten per cent pay cut.
The Real legend still expects to earn more than £200,000 a week wherever he moves, with United one of the few clubs able to cough up that sum.
Paris Saint-Germain are also in the running for Ramos, although the player is still most likely to remain at the Bernabeu beyond this season.
Meanwhile, Ramos’ centre-back partner Varane, 27, has entered the final 18 months of his contract, with the club willing to cash-in to the tune of £44million.
United are believed to be among the clubs in the hunt for the France superstar, but face competition from Chelsea, Juventus and PSG.
The Red Devils have been interested in Varane since 2019 when he first considered walking away from the Bernabeu.
Zinedine Zidane’s return convinced him to stay then, but with the Real boss under-pressure himself, the France legend’s presence may not be a factor this time.

Paul Scholes fears ‘timid’ De Gea has lost his presence and ‘almost jumped out the way’ for Everton equaliser vs Man Utd

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Scholes believes David de Gea looks ‘timid’ amid concerns of his form.
The Spanish goalkeeper had a poor game during the 3-3 draw with Everton and was at fault for the first and third goals.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Scholes said: “I think the goalkeeper could be becoming a bit of a problem.
“I think that belief is going a little bit. He looks a little bit timid, he looks like he’s losing his presence.”
Everton secured a point at Old Trafford thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s last-minute equaliser.
Harry Maguire played the England striker onside, but de Gea reacted slowly to the danger and Scholes was not impressed.

The 46-year-old said: “He didn’t really get in the face of Calvert-Lewin, he almost jumped out the way and made it a little bit easier for him than it should have been.
“He possibly wouldn’t have saved it anyway but at least try, at least show a bit of braveness about it.”

De Gea didn’t cover himself in glory for the opening goal either, palming a soft cross from Calvert-Lewin straight to Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Spain international has kept eight clean sheets this season but has also made four errors leading to goals.
He’s been defended by United boss Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer, although there’s no guarantee he’ll remain his first choice with the impressive Dean Henderson waiting in the wings.
The 23-year-old kept 13 clean sheets during his loan spell at Sheffield United last season.
