      BAYERN MUNICH have cleared the way for Manchester United to sign Kalidou Koulibaly by reportedly pulling out of the transfer race.
      The Napoli star has long been linked with the two teams, as well as Manchester City and other top clubs.

      In previous years, the Serie A outfit have demanded a fee in the region of £90million, successfully deterring a sale of the star player.
      However, earlier this month reports in Italy suggested a deal could be cut at around £39m.
      Interest could be sparked by Napoli’s apparent desire to cash in and cut their wage bill, with Bayern once again linked initially.
      Yet, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga giants are not working on a deal.

      Munich have already signed up RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano for next season.
      But Premier League side United remain on the hunt for defensive reinforcements.

      Koulibaly is among those to have been linked and was recently said to favour a move to Old Trafford.

      MEN yesterday named Pau Torres as another talent being eyed, with Manchester City providing competition for the Villarreal ace.
      Raphael Varane remains a frequent fixture in gossip columns, ahead of a crucial summer of contract discussions with Real Madrid.
      And Sevilla’s Jules Kounde is reportedly wanted by the Red Devils, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, for a fee of around £60m.

      Edinson Cavani ‘to quit Man Utd after deciding to join Boca Juniors on free transfer this summer’ say shock reports

      MANCHESTER UNITED striker Edinson Cavani reportedly has his heart set on a dream move to Boca Juniors in the summer.
      The 34-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, though the Red Devils have the option of triggering a one-year extension.

      But it is understood that both parties have the option of pulling the plug at the end of the campaign.
      And according to Argentine news outlet Ole, the Uruguay international has decided to depart Old Trafford in order to return to South America.
      They state that the ex-Paris Saint-Germain star has dreamed of playing for Boca since a young child.
      It has also been claimed that Cavani’s representatives do not believe his possible contract extension will be an issue as he can turn it down.

      The report also adds that Cavani would be happy to take a huge pay cut on his £210,000-a-week salary in order to join his boyhood club.
      And the former Napoli ace will demand a three-year deal in Argentina as he looks to fire the side to a first Copa Libertadores title since 2007.
      Quoted by Ole, a member of Cavani’s entourage said: “Unless there’s a mistake, that’s it.
      “He’s decided to return now. And he has decided that it’s Boca.”

      Should he make the move to Boca to link up with Marcos Rojo, he could replace Carlos Tevez, who is in the final year of his contract.
      Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke of Cavani’s contract situation last month where he insisted the club are happy with him.
      He declared: “I can only say Edinson has done well. I’ve been impressed by him, he’s really gelled in the group.
      “We’ll sit down and speak with him in the near future to see his plans and our plans. It’s a good discussion to have. We always speak to the players.
      “And, with his contract situation at the moment, we’re very pleased with what he’s done.”

      Yet the report adds that United could be in the conversation for Paris Saint-Germain ace Mbappe.
      The World Cup winner is entering the final year of his contract in the French capital and could look to leave should Mauricio Pochettino’s side fail to win the Champions League.

      And United legend Rio Ferdinand recently begged his former employers to ‘move heaven and earth’ to sign Haaland or Mbappe.

      Tottenham’s England captain Kane is another striker listed as a player United admire closer to home.
      But SunSport previously reported that Jose Mourinho is unlikely to want to sell his star man and Spurs haven’t even set an asking price.
      United meanwhile remain in the hunt for Haaland, who they missed out on when he joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2020.
      A £65million release clause only kicks in next year, meaning United will be forced to pay a premium to sign the 20-year-old this summer.

      United seem to be in need of a long-term solution up front with question marks over Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani approaching the final years of his career at 34.

      The Red Devils failed to score against a fellow member of the ‘Big Six’ for a sixth time in a row against Chelsea last weekend.
      And United followed that up with another blank against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

      MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly already held transfer talks with Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
      The Red Devils are said to have made contact with the 23-year-old’s representatives in January, according to journalist Jonathan Shrager.

      The report states Tottenham and AC Milan were two other clubs who also sounded out the Jamaican star’s availability at the start of the year.
      But the Bundesliga ace is believed to be solely focused on performing for Leverkusen for now.
      United have sent scouts to watch Bailey play over the last 18 months and he could be a cheaper alternative signing to Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
      Bailey’s agent Aidy Ward also has England star Raheem Sterling on his books and has held discussions with numerous clubs ahead of a potential summer move.

      The player’s deal at Leverkusen runs until 2023 and the German club are keen to extend his stay but they face a tough ask to get him to re-sign.
      Bailey has bagged six goals and seven assists in 22 league games this season.
      Leverkusen sit sixth in the table, two points behind Dortmund and 15 points off the pace of reigning champs Bayern Munich.
      Bailey has been one of the most consistent performers in Germany since arriving from Genk over four years ago for £12million.

      The Express reports United are also keeping tabs on Bailey’s team-mate Edmond Tapsoba with the centre-back available for £44m due to his release clause.

      Man Utd ‘scouting Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba, 22, over transfer’ after being alerted to Burkina Faso defender

      MANCHESTER UNITED are scouting Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba after receiving a tip-off in Germany, reports say.
      The defender has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga over the last 12 months and he is said to have attracted attention from two other Premier League clubs.

      But according to The Express, United have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old on the advice of a ‘well-respected figure in Germany’.
      Tapsoba signed for Leverkusen from Vitoria Guimaraes in January 2020, costing an initial £15.5million in a deal that could still rise to £21.5m in add-ons.
      It is understood they were impressed by his confidence in bringing the ball out from the back and maturity at such a young age.
      Tapsoba has now played every minute of league action this season, besides two games he missed due to coronavirus in late November.

      He has also formed a partnership at the back with United academy graduate Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who left Old Trafford for Leverkusen.
      Tapsoba’s previous deal included a release clause believed to be in the region of £44m, with Leverkusen uninterested in any offers below that sum.
      They recently tied him down the Burkinabe international to a new contract that will run until 2026, with his release clause now likely to have been increased.
      Tapsoba is right-footed, and United have long been in the market for a left-footed defender to partner Harry Maguire, who is currently paired with either Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly.

      Dayot Upamecano and Nathan Ake – who later signed for City – were both considered earlier this season but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to bring in a centre-back.
      Tapsoba was the subject of a last-minute enquiry from Liverpool in the winter window as the champions desperately looked to bring in defensive reinforcements.
      But they were told by Leverkusen to pay the £44m release clause, with Jurgen Klopp instead signing Ben Davies from Preston and Ozan Kabak from Schalke.
      Tapsoba has also been a target for Leicester and Wolves with both eyeing a summer move.

      The 25-year-old has registered a mere 21 appearances across all competitions.
      According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito is not interested in stumping up the cash for the attacking midfielder and thus United will look for a different buyer elsewhere.
      The Red Devils are hoping to offload the out-of-favour Brazilian for £21million ahead of the summer transfer window.
      Pereira made a total of 40 appearances under United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last term.

      Sanchez opened the scoring for Inter after 54 minutes when he latched on to a loose ball from ex-Old Trafford team-mate Romelu Lukaku.
      The ex-United and Arsenal star doubled the Nerazzurri’s lead just eight minutes later thanks to another assist from Lukaku, who is showcasing some sparkling form in the Serie A.
      Parma cut the deficit thanks to a close-range finish from Hernani in the 71st minute but that was all the fight they had left against the Serie A table-toppers who won 2-1.
      Sanchez celebrated with his team-mates in the dressing room after full-time and shared a picture of their backstage jubilation on Instagram.

      The forward has been enjoying a somewhat new lease on life under ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at the San Siro.
