    NEV’S MIAMI ROCKED BY COVID-19
Phil Neville’s hopes of hitting the ground running in Miami have been hampered by COVID-19.
The Manchester United legend and former England Lionesses boss is in Sarasota gearing up for his MLS kick-off on April 18 but three pre-season training matches against Charleston, New York Red Bulls and Nashville were all canned tonight after a number of positive tests.
SunSport understands a mix of players from the teams involved have been infected but Neville is confident the setback won’t derail the hopes of getting his side ready for the season opener against LA Galaxy.
Inter Miami, who have suffered from COVID problems in the past after star striker Gonzalo Higuain missed last term’s play-off match with Nashville, have also cancelled a press conference with Neville which was scheduled for Wednesday.
Inter’s first training-ground ‘scrimmage’ of the pre-season against Paul Dalglish’s Miami FC was postponed last Saturday also because of health concerns.
Neville will at least be boosted by having the whole squad at his disposal next week at their South Florida base.
    SHARPSHOOTER SHAW
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed Luke Shaw is the second best finisher at the club behind Mason Greenwood.
The Norwegian overlooked the likes of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial in favour of his resurgent left-back.
Even the talismanic Bruno Fernandes is behind Shaw in the finishing ranks.
Shaw said in February that the boss rates his finishing: “You should ask the manager he normally says me.
“I understand people will say I don’t score many goals but he’s actually said to me I was one of them [best finishers]. I don’t know if he was being nice or not.”
And Solskjaer backed up his player and said: “I’ve said that to Luke, yeah.
“He is behind Mason Greenwood, Luke has a very good finishing technique when he gets in that position so I encourage him to get up there.”
    BEEK BOOST
Donny van de Beek banished his Manchester United blues on Tuesday night as he netted in Holland’s 7-0 win against Gibraltar.
The midfielder, 23, has struggled to impress at Old Trafford following a £40million move from Ajax last summer.

Van de Beek has featured just 13 times in the Premier League for United, making just two starts.
But he took full advantage after coming off the Holland bench in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar.
Van de Beek scored the second-last goal in a 7-0 thrashing for Frank de Boer’s men.
And Holland have now won two on the bounce having suffered a dismal 4-2 defeat to Turkey in the first match of their qualifying campaign last week.
    GREALISH AGENT PREDICTS ‘BIG DEALS’
Jack Grealish’s agent Jonathan Barnett sent speculation over the Manchester United target spiralling by predicting “very big deals” of his own.
England and Aston Villa playmaker Grealish, 25, has performed far better than the player United signed last summer instead, Donny van de Beek.
Villa skipper Jack Grealish was linked to Man Utd last summer and speculation is mounting they could be back in for him in the next transfer windowCredit: Getty
Barnett told The Athletic: “I am expecting three or four very big deals of my own that will break a lot of records.
“Hopefully, they will come about. For the smaller clubs, I think there won’t be as many transfers. We have some very good players.
“We have probably the best young player in the world in Camavinga. We have got Grealish. We have got Konate at Leipzig. But then I have got over 100 players.”
    WOLE TRAFFORD
Manchester United are reportedly set to raid noisy neighbours City for top youth scout Stephen Ajewole.
And that has sparked fears at the Etihad of their transfer secrets being leaked to their rivals.
According to the Daily Mail, United want to bring Ajewole in as the new lead scout for the Under 15-18s.
The swoop is being headed up by United’s head of youth recruitment David Harrison.
Harrison left his role as head of European youth scouting at City to join United in 2017.
Ajewole has been described as an ’emerging recruitment specialist’.
He joined City as a UK southern football scout in August 2014 and has predominantly been based in London.
    JAMES DENIES SUPPORTING LIVERPOOL
Daniel James has come clean to deny he was a Liverpool fan as a child… but admits he supported Chelsea.
The Manchester United winger idolised Blues’ legends Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba, plus Juan Mata, who has since swapped Chelsea for the Red Devils.
James, 23, told United’s website: “When I signed for United, I can’t remember who it was, one of the Sky Sports (pundits) said: ‘he supports Liverpool’.
“I was thinking I don’t support Liverpool, but I never wanted to come out and say I supported Chelsea as a youngster.
“When I started playing for Swansea it [Chelsea] was the team I followed, but you don’t end up supporting them really.
I used to look at their players when I was younger – Hazard, Mata and Drogba – and they were players that I loved. You kind of grow out of that.”
    UTD’S LEEDS CLASH SWITCHED
Leeds have new dates for their home Premier League clashes with Liverpool and Manchester United.
Fading champs Liverpool will now play at Elland Road at 8pm on Monday, April 19, two days later than originally scheduled.
And United’s match has been put back a day to 2pm, Sunday, April 25.
    ‘FIVE OFFERS’ FOR AGUERO
Outgoing Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero already has around five contract offers for next season, including neighbours United, but Barcelona remain favourites to sign him.
United are keen to add a specialist No9 next season, with Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani tipped to return to South America next summer.
    SABITZER OPEN TO A MOVE
Manchester United and Tottenham target Marcel Sabitzer insists he is in no rush to sort out his RB Leipzig future but is open to a move at some stage.
The Austria midfielder has been linked with several European giants as second-placed Leipzig aim to dethrone Bundesliga champs Bayern Munich.
Sabitzer told Bild: “I have a contract until 2022 – and not just until the summer.
“It has become popular to ask players about his future as soon as he enters the final 18 months of his contract, but that doesn’t mean that everything has to be decided at that moment.
“Those in my inner circle know what I’m thinking, but I’m not stressed about it. I feel good in Leipzig and at the club, plus we’re successful.
“We have a realistic chance of winning titles here – and there are people at the club who really want to win something.
“That’s why I see Leipzig as a great club, but RB don’t have to be the only great club on my CV. After all, I’m only 27.”
    DEMBELE LINKED TO UTD
Manchester United are ‘in contact’ with Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele and ‘preparing a summer transfer bid’, according to reports.
The Frenchman is currently under contract at the Catalan club until 2022 and Barca boss Ronald Koeman is keen to keep the attacker.
But Sport have reported that Man Utd are ready to swoop in and claim Dembele by turning his head at the end of the season.
Barca are currently trying to lower their wage bill due to financial problems at the club.
Mundo Deportivo believe the club and player are in negotiations over a fresh deal to keep him at the Nou Camp.
    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE REVAMP ROW
A decision on a new format for the Champions League has been delayed by a disagreement over the competition’s commercial rights.
An expanded 36-team competition to begin in 2024 had been set for approval by UEFA’s executive committee on Wednesday, but will now not be rubber-stamped until at least the next ExCo meeting on April 19.
It is understood the board of the European Club Association (ECA), which represents the views of the continent’s most powerful clubs, was split and could not give its formal support to the UEFA proposal when it met on Monday.
This was because some clubs remain convinced they should control the commercial aspects of the competition, such as television and sponsorship rights.
ECA members dominate the UEFA club competitions committee which then met on Tuesday morning, and it is understood that because the reform package did not have their approval it could not go forward to the executive committee.
UEFA said on Wednesday: “UEFA can confirm that a meeting of the executive committee will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, March 31, and that the future of club competitions post-2024 will be one of the topics discussed.
“However, any official decision in this respect will only be made at the next UEFA executive committee meeting on April 19, in order to finalise ongoing discussions.”
UTD LOSE £105m IN 5 SEASONS THROUGH INJURIES
Manchester United have paid out an eyewatering £105million to injured, unavailable players over the last five seasons.
While boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s predecessor Jose Mourinho liked to whinge about transfers, the Red Devils actually pay enormous sums to their star players.

One problem, however, has been getting them all fit and healthy.
A study conducted by Bonusfinder found that United players have spent a combined 6378 days injured, missing a total of 1105 games in the process since 2016.
In this time, Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were costly absentees – while defenders Luke Shaw, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have also spent their fair share of time on the treatment table.
Arsenal are second on the list, despite their players having missed more games than United’s. Gunners’ players have missed 1122 games during a total of 6577 days on the treatment table – costing nearly £80m.
    BOX FRESH
The final Premier League TV times for April have been confirmed.
And there’s a treat for fans with Wolves vs Burnley being shown for free on BBC in a bumper footy schedule.
Everton vs Spurs has been given a new Friday night slot on April 16.

    ROYD RAGE
Roy Keane’s heated argument with Jamie Redknapp live on Sky Sports was caused by the former Manchester United captain arriving late to the studio, Micah Richards has revealed.
The Red Devils legend got into a furious exchange with Redknapp as he tried to make the case that Spurs had very few top class players.

And Richards has now confirmed Keane was somewhat flustered when he arrived at the studio due to being stuck in traffic.
Speaking on the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast, the ex-Manchester City defender said: “He (Keane) was driving down to London, but he was late.
“He normally gets there an hour or an hour and a half before, but he was stuck in traffic and he got there 20 minutes before going on air and you could see his hair was all ruffled, along with his suit.
“Jamie just got his anger because he was an hour later than he was supposed to be and he got the wrath!”
    ROONEY VS AGUERO
Sergio Aguero’s looming departure from Manchester City has sparked a debate over how he compares with United legend Wayne Rooney.
Barcelona are favourites to sign 254-goal Etihad record scorer Aguero, 32, whilst former England striker Rooney netted 253 goals in 13 years at Old Trafford.
Aguero better than Rooney? Have a word with yourself. Almost identical goal numbers with Rooney playing under 30% of his time at #MUFC at CF compared to Aguero’s almost 80%. LINDELOF BACK WITH UTD
Victor Lindelof has left Sweden’s squad early and returned to Manchester for ‘personal reasons’.
The Man Utd defender, 26, left his national side on Monday night ahead of their friendly against Estonia on Wednesday.
Lindelof played 90 minutes in Sweden’s 3-0 win over Kosovo on Sunday.
And he also started the 1-0 victory against Georgia last Thursday.
But Sweden assistant manager Peter Wettergren confirmed the defender has left the team.
He said on Monday: “Lindelof will leave us tonight for private, personal reasons.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic marked his return to international duty with an assist in the win over Georgia.
And he was at it again on Sunday with an outrageous back heel to set up a goal.

    RON ROW ARMBAND AUCTIONED
Cristiano Ronaldo’s angrily-discarded captain’s armband is up for auction to raise money for a sick child in Serbia.
Little Gavril Djurdjevic, who is just six months old and from the city of Kragujevac, suffers from spinal muscular atrophy.
Ronaldo’s discarded armband is on sale to raise funds for a sick child in Serbia
Humanitarian organisation Together for Life hopes to raise €2.5million (around £2.1m) needed for his treatment.
And they are now selling Ronaldo’s Portugal armband to the highest bidder over the next three days in an online auction to help reach that target.
Skipper Ronaldo protested after his late winner for Portugal against Serbia was ruled out
It was taken from the pitch of Belgrade’s Rajko Mitic stadium by a worker, who donated it to Together for Life and baby Gavril, after Portugal’s 2-2 World Cup qualifier against Serbia on Saturday.
The charity auction marks an incredible twist to the tale.
Ronaldo marched over to the linesman to argue in vain that his shot had crossed the line, replays backing up his case.
The referee booked a raging Ronaldo, who walked off the field waving his arms in disbelief before ripping off his captain’s armband and launching it to the floor.
    RAI’S BLAZE AT MANC RIVALS
Super-agent Mino Raiola has stirred it up with neighbours Manchester United and City.
He told the Athletic: “I don’t give a f**k if I never do another player with Man Utd. I’m not in their hands. I’m independent.
“Guardiola? I’ve closed the book a long time ago. Everybody knows what I think of him personally; he can say what he thinks for me personally.”
    MANE UTD?
Manchester United are ‘in contact’ with Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele and ‘preparing a summer transfer bid’, according to reports.

    MANE MAN GETS TOP MARC
Marcus Rashford picked Sadio Mane over Mo Salah as the best African talent in the Premier League.
England ace Rashford was asked who is the greatest African player he has faced since debuting in 2015.
And the 23-year-old plumped for Senegalese sensation Mane over Liverpool team-mate and ‘Egyptian King’ Salah.
Rashford said: “I think there’s some great African talent in [the] league at [the] moment. Mane particularly.”
    LUK AND LEARN
Luke Shaw’s agent has revealed how the star was helped through his feud with Jose Mourinho and not forced out of Manchester United ‘just to make money’.
Jonathan Barnett, who also looks after the likes of Gareth Bale and Jack Grealish, has revealed the work put in behind the scenes to rescue the defender’s confidence.
He explained to The Athletic: “My job in that situation is to make sure the player’s spirits are kept up.
“We try behind the scenes to help them understand what’s gone wrong. A lot of it is personal.
“We had to rebuild his confidence, which we did. We took certain steps. But Luke is a very strong man. He never got too down.
“His family had to be there for him and we had to be there for him. We didn’t say, ‘You’ve got to leave Man United, we’ve got to go because we need to make money’.
“We didn’t force Luke Shaw out of Man United. He wanted to stay there. And that’s what he’s done. And today, he’s a great, great player.”

A documentary portraying Jack Charlton’s remarkable life revealed the difficult relationship with his brother.

During his illustrious career he won two league titles with Leeds, the FA Cup and League Cup and, of course, the historic World Cup in 1966.
Jack is also a hero in Ireland after helping them qualify for their first World Cup as a manager in 1990 in which 500,000 fans welcomed them back onto Irish soil in Dublin after their knockout.
But his relationship with Manchester United legend Sir Bobby, who was two years his junior, suffered after they fell out in 1996.
Jack accused Bobby of not visiting their mother Cissie before her death in the same year.
Bobby, who won the Ballon d’Or in 1966, would reveal his wife Norma and Cissie had a falling out and he opted to take the side of his other half.

    FERGIE FEUD ROUND TWO
Controversial super-agent Mino Raiola has reignited his feud with Sir Alex Ferguson by firing fresh shots at the Manchester United legend.
The pair fell out back in 2012 when Paul Pogba’s representative convinced him to leave the Red Devils due to a lack of first-team football.
Mino Raiola has reignited his Fergie feud over Paul Pogba
Now the Dutch-Italian Raiola has fired back at the 79-year-old, claiming he only liked ‘yes’ men and comparing him to disgraced ex-Fifa president Sepp Blatter.
And he also says that United’s owner the Glazers proved him right about his client when they signed him back for £89.3m after Ferguson’s retirement.
He told The Athletic: “When Ferguson criticised me, that was my biggest compliment anybody could give me.
“Ferguson is used to people coming in and, ‘Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir’.
“All I have to say that when Ferguson left Manchester United the club’s owner [the Glazers], by buying back Paul Pogba, told me that I was right.
“Because I didn’t want to take Paul Pogba away. He [Ferguson] didn’t believe in Paul Pogba.”
    PAULING THEIR LEG
Paul Pogba’s controversial agent Mino Raiola said his five-year-old nephew could find the French World Cup winner a new club.
Pogba has often been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
And super agent Raiola told The Athletic: “I talk to a lot of sporting directors, managers, trainers and he [Pogba] is widely appreciated.
“But today, if somebody asks me ‘Can you find a club for Paul?’ I could take my nephew of five and find a club for Paul at a high level.”
    CHEEKY JIBE
Nemanja Matic has teased team-mate Bruno Fernandes after the ghost goal that never was denied Portugal victory against Serbia.
Matic has retired from international football but was still delighted to see his countrymen hold Euro 2016 winners Portugal to a 2-2 draw.
But the ball appeared to be across the line late on only for a lack of goalline technology and the officials contriving to deny Cristiano Ronaldo who stormed of and threw down his captain’s armband.
Matic shamelessly shared an image of the ball on the line and tagged Fernandes and Ronaldo in his Instagram story.
He wrote: “Just on the line. Is it all clear now?”

    BACK TO BACK
Luke Shaw is tearing up at Manchester United.
And he has been named player of the month for the last two months on the spin.

    SHAWLY NOT
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed Luke Shaw is the second best finisher at the club behind Mason Greenwood.

    RASH DECISION
Marcus Rashford picked Sadio Mane over Mo Salah as the best African talent in the Premier League.
England ace Rashford was asked who is the greatest African player he has faced since debuting in 2015.
And the 23-year-old plumped for Senegalese sensation Mane over Liverpool team-mate and ‘Egyptian King’ Salah.
Rashford said: “I think there’s some great African talent in [the] league at [the] moment.
    “Mane particularly.”
    HAAL-OUT ATTACK
Manchester City plan to make Borussia Dortmund sensation and Man Utd target Erling Haaland their No1 replacement for Sergio Aguero as boss Pep Guardiola targets an era of domination.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak paid tribute to legendary striker Aguero, who spent ten stunning years at the Etihad — but is not having his contract renewed.
He said: “Sergio’s contribution to Manchester City over the last ten years cannot be overstated.
“His legend will be indelibly etched into the memories of everyone who loves the club and maybe even in those who simply love football.
“This is not yet the moment for farewell words and speeches — there is still much to achieve in the remainder of the time we have with Sergio, and we look forward to his contributions to the challenges which lie ahead.”
Norwegian goal machine Haaland, 20, tops City’s list of replacements, while Tottenham’s Harry Kane is also a target.
    DREAM DEBUT
Dan James opened up on his dream debut – scoring for Manchester United against Chelsea, the team he supported as a boy, at the Stretford End.
The Welsh speedster said it would likely always be the highlight of his career.

    LEAVE STEVE
Manchester United are reportedly set to raid noisy neighbours Man City for top youth scout Stephen Ajewole.
    LINDEL-OFF
Victor Lindelof has left the Sweden squad and headed back to Manchester for “personal reasons”.
The Old Trafford defender will miss the Swedes’ friendly against Estonia after playing 180 minutes in their wins over Kosovo and Georgia.
Sweden assistant Peter Wettergren confirmed the United centre-back was heading back to the North West of England.
Wettergren said: “He will leave us tonight for private, personal reasons.”

    GOOD MORNING UNITED FANS,
Luke Shaw knows he is drinking in the last chance saloon with England — but promises he will never betray Gareth Southgate’s trust again.
The Manchester United left-back made his long-awaited return during Sunday’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win in Albania.
And Shaw confessed: “I have some massive regrets about my England career and I couldn’t stop thinking about the mistakes I had made in the past.
“I have pulled out of a lot of squads and I was letting the boss down because maybe I wasn’t in the best condition around that time.
“The last time I played before Sunday was against Spain in 2018 and I’ve given it so much thought over the past two years.
“I tried to keep in touch with the manager just to let him know that things have changed, but I had a few discussions with my family and they thought that maybe I wouldn’t get back into it.
“But deep down I always believed that if I worked hard I could earn a recall and Gareth has given me another chance so now I need to prove to him that I want to be a part of this squad.
“I remember watching the last World Cup and seeing how well the squad was doing and it really made me want to get involved.
“Maybe at that time I wasn’t mentally right. I had injury problems but maybe they were ones that could have been dealt with.”
Meanwhile,  United have dealt a new injury blow with Anthony Martial a doubt for France’s game against Bosnia.
The striker, 25, bagged an assist in Sunday’s 2-0 win against Kazakhstan.
But Martial was forced off the pitch after picking up a knock to his knee.
And RMC Sport now claims the forward is set to miss France’s third World Cup qualifier against Bosnia on Wednesday.
It’s said Martial took damage to the fibula on his left knee.
And it now remains to be seen if the ace will be fit for United’s Premier League clash against Brighton on Sunday.
And finally on the transfer front, United have joined Tottenham and Liverpool in the race for RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer.
The 27-year-old Austrian, who captains the high-flying Bundesliga side, is catching the eye of several Premier League teams with his performances this season.
And now Bild have reported that the Red Devils are keen to bring the midfielder to the club in the summer window.
Sabitzer has made it clear to Leipzig he would like to leave at the end of the season and he appears to be eyeing a move to England.

    COMPUTER SAYS GO
Manchester United will qualify for the Champions League – but Newcastle are heading for the Championship next season, according to a supercomputer.
Thomas Tuchel is expected to get his Blues into the top four, joining champions Manchester City, second-place United and Leicester in third.

    BELE TO BELLY
    MULL IT OVER
Former Manchester United target Thomas Muller has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League.
He told The Times: “I’m not fixed to this club.
“I have a special relationship, I love Bayern before I started playing for them, but when there is a situation where you have to decide maybe to play for a different club it would be no shame and no problem at all.
“Maybe like with Thiago [Alcantara, now at Liverpool].”

    SAN HERO
Former Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is set for talks over a bumper new Inter Milan contract, according to reports.
The Belgian striker, 27, has been in red-hot form since making the switch to the San Siro in 2019.
That has led to speculation of transfer interest from the likes of ex-employers Chelsea as well as Barcelona.
But the Daily Mail state Inter are trying to tie their No9 down to an improved deal.
Talks are expected to begin later in the year to discuss a pay rise.

    KNEE BOTHER
Manchester United have dealt a new injury blow with Anthony Martial a doubt for France’s game against Bosnia.
The striker, 25, bagged an assist in Sunday’s 2-0 win against Kazakhstan.

    FANDEMONIUM
The Government has confirmed it will back allowing 20,000 fans to attend the FA Cup Final – in a bid to speed up the return to full houses by the end of the summer.
One of next month’s FA Cup semis is also in line to have be watched by a crowd as well – although that will be entirely made up of no more than 4,000 local residents.
Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston is working with the FA, Premier League and other sports bodies ahead of the scheduled May 17 date for turnstiles to be re-opened for crowds of up to 10,000.
Huddleston told LBC: “We’re finalising the details but the figure of 20,000 for the FA Cup Final is one I recognise and that seems to be the ambition.
“We would like as many as possible as we believe is safe because these are important tests and processes to get the systems in place in terms of hygiene and other things.
“On May 17 the goal is for major outdoor events to have capacities of 10,000 so the pilot would be pushing it beyond that, which is quite important.”
    RED ALERT
Manchester United target Ibrahima Konate’s phone has been ‘ringing all over the place’ since strong Liverpool links emerged this morning.
Asked about the reports by L’Equipe, he responded: “I woke up, I saw my phone ringing all over the place.
“I just wanted to tell them, ‘Hey, I played yesterday, I’m tired, leave me alone.’
“Frankly, I don’t even watch this.
“We can’t focus on that, there are the Euros and then my return to the club.
“You have to focus on that and not on the external things.”

    BALE OUT
Gareth Bale has called for a sporting boycott on social media to eradicate vile abuse online.
The Wales captain’s team-mates Rabbi Matondo and Ben Cabango were the latest footballers to receive racist abuse on Instagram after the 1-0 win over Mexico on Saturday.
Bale said: “If everyone came together and decided to boycott social media to make a statement, if we had a campaign, not just one or two people, where a lot of big influential people in sport and in other forms of life came off social media to make a statement, then yes, I definitely think it could help.
“If that is the case then I would obviously be all for that.”
    SHAW THING
Luke Shaw has followed up his assist and clean sheet against Albania with his second successive player of the month gong for United.
The England left-back beat out compatriot Dean Henderson and fellow defender Victor Lindelof to scoop the award for March.

    ROY-AL RUMBLES
Roy Keane is never one to back down in an argument.
The Irishman has gone from midfield hardman, to bearded boss, to TV executioner over the last few decades.
But during all this time, he has never allowed any foe to have the last laugh.
Keane, 49, is currently strongly linked with the vacant managerial post at Celtic.
And should he make a return to the dugout, Hoops fans must be ready for some explosive moments – just ask Alan Shearer or Jamie Redknapp.
So amid his links to Parkhead, let’s take a look at some of Keane’s most memorable bust-ups HERE.
    JUAN’S PAIN
Juan Mata’s mother has passed away after a long battle with illness, according to reports.
Reports in Spain described Marta Garcia as a ‘very dear, good and loving person’.
Mata himself has not confirmed the news but close pals Bruno Fernandes, David De Gea and Ander Herrera took to Instagram on Monday afternoon to share pics with Mata showing their love and support.
Fernandes said: “Friend, a very strong hug for you and your family.”
Goalkeeper De Gea captioned his post with a love heart and ex-United midfielder Herrera wrote ‘siempre’ meaning ‘forever’.
Marta had two children – the Manchester United midfielder and his sister Paula.

    CRIS CROSS
Cristiano Ronaldo let his emotions get the better of him when his winning ‘goal’ against Serbia did not stand.
The Portugal superstar, 36, appeared to have bagged an injury-time winner in the World Cup qualifier.
But neither the referee nor his assistant thought the ball had crossed the line before it was hooked clear.
And with that, Ronaldo threw his toys out of the pram – but it certainly was not the first time.

    LEFT BACK LEANING
Luke Shaw is winning the race to be England’s first choice left-back this summer, Ashley Cole reckons.
Ex-England defender Cole thinks the Man Utd man has edged ahead of Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.
He told ITV: “Shaw’s just pipping Chilwell.
“At the moment, Shaw’s in the lead, but going into the last few games of the Premier League, it’s a question of keeping consistency.”

    READY FOR FANS
Just one positive coronavirus test has been recorded by the Premier League over the past week as football continues to edge towards the return of fans.
Football fans will be allowed back in for the final day of the Premier League season on May 23.
And the continual fall in the number of coronavirus cases within top flight clubs can only bode well for the road out of lockdown and towards the return of spectators.
The Premier League confirmed that there was one new positive coronavirus test between March 22 and March 28.
Between March 22 and March 25 there were 1,045 players and club staff tested, with zero positives.
Then the one positive came when 1,165 more players and club staff were tested between March 26 and March 28.
    KIT FOR KIDS
Manchester United and adidas have been donating kit to school kids in need.

    SURREND-ERLING
Manchester United target Erling Haaland has been criticised for “surrendering” on Norway after their heavy defeat to Turkey.
Haaland’s country were thrashed 3-0 in Malaga in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier following a brace by Ozan Tufan and a finish by Leicester star Caglar Soyuncu.

Norway received some heavy criticism from the press, who dubbed the game “a disaster”, and the Dortmund star took a heavy beating following a poor display for his country.
Liverpool and Norway legend John Arne Riise felt like the star striker lacked the same passion he shows at the Westfalenstadion.
Riise told VG: “”He has received so much praise for showing his emotion when things aren’t going well with Dortmund, but we don’t see any of that back here.”
Retired Norwegian striker Bernt Hulsker was especially critical after Haaland’s “disappointing” performance.
He said: “He doesn’t play with the same confidence that we’re used to from him. In Dortmund he hits himself in the face if he misses such a pass.
“Here it was just surrender. I’m not saying he’s disinterested, but he exudes it. ”
    SHORE THING
Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire started for England Under-18s against Wales today.
The second-half is getting underway with the score 0-0.

    GOOD LUKE
Luke Shaw dazzled on his return to the England fold against Albania.
The left-back had 100 touches, 100 per cent long pass accuracy, 92 per cent pass accuracy, won three out of three tackles and laid on one assist.

    NUMBER WAN
Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be in the England squad ahead of Chelsea’s Reece James, according to Troy Deeney.
The Watford skipper is a big fan of the former Crystal Palace ace’s defensive abilities.

Deeney told talkSPORT: “It’s not personal, just an opinion; I don’t think Reece James goes over Wan-Bissaka. I don’t think he should have been in this squad over Wan-Bissaka.
“He doesn’t always start for Chelsea, that’s a main one. But I just think Wan-Bissaka is so good defensively.
“You can say what you want about him with the ball, but when it comes to the nitty-gritty you’re going to need someone who will clamp down on their winger, know his role, do his job, get the ball and give it to the better players – that’s what you need in those situations.
“I’d back him or Kyle Walker because he’s so fast. But I’d have Wan-Bissaka.”
    DAN THE CLUBMAN
Manchester United winger Dan James shut down claims he grew up a fan of arch rivals Liverpool.
The Welsh speedster signed for the Red Devils for £15million in summer 2019.

And the 23-year-old recalled how a Sky Sports pundit claimed he was a Reds fan as a youngster.
But James actually grew up a Chelsea supporter and he said: “When I signed for United, I can’t remember who it was, one of the Sky Sports [pundits] said: ‘he supports Liverpool’.
“I was thinking I don’t support Liverpool, but I never wanted to come out and say I supported Chelsea as a youngster.
“When I started playing for Swansea it [Chelsea] was the team I followed, but you don’t end up supporting them really.”
    SHAW THING
Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has backed Luke Shaw to be Gareth Southgate’s England left-back at the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
Cole – who bagged over 100 caps for the Three Lions – reckons Shaw is just ahead of Stamford Bridge ace Ben Chilwell.

Shaw started the 2-0 win over Albania on Sunday while Chilwell began the 5-0 win over San Marino in midweek.
On ITV, Cole said: “I think it’s a tight one between Shaw who I think is just pipping it at the minute.
“I think he is playing more consistently for Manchester United, whereas Chilwell – some days he plays [for Chelsea] and some days he doesn’t.
“I think at the moment Shaw is in the lead. But who knows?
“Going into the last games of the Premier League season, who can hold their nerve and keep that consistency up before the squad gets announced.”

    MAKING THEIR MARC
Manchester United have joined Tottenham and Liverpool in the race for RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer.
Since signing with the German outfit in 2014, he has played 219 times and scored 50 goals.
He has also spearheaded the club’s charge up the table as they are now challenging for the Bundesliga title in second place – four points behind Bayern Munich.
    AWKWARD
Anthony Martial was involved in an awkward moment with Kylian Mbappe as he hobbled off injured for France last night.
The Manchester United star started for his country ahead of the PSG man against Kazakhstan in their World Cup qualifier.
Martial’s lack of handshake left Mbappe baffledCredit: Twitter
Following the 1-1 midweek draw with Ukraine, French boss Didier Deschamps opted for Martial in his starting XI instead of Mbappe.
And he was rewarded as the 25-year-old set-up Ousmane Dembele for the opening goal of the 2-0 win after a great pass by his club-mate Paul Pogba.
However, Martial’s appearance was cut short just before the hour mark when he suffered a blow.
He was replaced by Mbappe, who later missed a penalty, but as his countryman went to give him the customary handshake, Martial failed to respond.
    IMPACT SUBS

    KON THE WAY
Liverpool are reportedly finalising a deal to bring highly-rated RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate to the club this summer.
The 21-year-old has caught the attention of several Premier League sides with his impressive displays for the German outfit.

Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been trying to acquire the services of Konate.
But according to The Athletic it is Liverpool who are closing in on putting pen to paper.
Journalist David Ornstein has revealed that the Reds have made ‘significant progress’ when it comes to a deal for Konate.
It is thought Jurgen Klopp’s side will be forced to pay a minimum of £34million in order to trigger the Frenchman’s release clause.
    RED DEM-VIL
However, if Dembele’s salary expectations cannot be met then Man Utd are poised to strike and offer a transfer fee for the forward this summer.
The Red Devils see him as a possible alternative to Jadon Sancho, who they have been trying to sign for some time.
    KEANE TO IMPRESS
Micah Richards revealed he won Roy Keane’s ‘respect’ and relishes making his punditry colleague ‘uncomfortable’ on TV.
Richards and the Manchester United icon have formed an unlikely bromance together as analysts for Sky Sports.

Retired Richards, 32, said on the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast: “Roy’s a legend of the game.
“And when I’m initially going to work with someone I don’t get nervous – I never get nervous – but you’ve got respect for people and that’s the way it should be.
“I’ve seen his clips and he used to destroy people left, right and centre. The first clip that did the rounds was where I said I’d burst on the scene as a defender, that’s the one that went viral, and he said he didn’t know any defenders that had burst on the scene.
“I said, ‘Hold on, hold on, I’m the youngest ever defender for England, won the Premier League and won the FA Cup’ and at that moment he was like ‘OK’ – I earned a little bit of his respect.
“After that I just loved working with him because I can never compete with Roy Keane as a player, or his medals, but I can make him feel uncomfortable on camera, and that’s my strength.”
    MARTIAL LAW
Manchester United’s Anthony Martial came off injured in France’s 2-0 win over Kazakhstan.
The forward assisted Ousmane Dembele’s 19th minute opener with a clever turn and pass.

But the Red Devils star was replaced by Kylian Mbappe after 59 minutes having received treatment for an injury blow.
Martial appeared to jar his knee with his studs caught in the artificial pitch.
    CANDY KANE
Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Harry Kane has to LEAVE Tottenham this summer if he wants ‘to win big prizes’ amid links with the Red Devils and Real Madrid.
England skipper Kane, 27, is yet to win a single piece of silverware with Spurs but that could end if Jose Mourinho’s men beat Pep Guardiola’s quadruple-chasing Manchester City in next month’s Carabao Cup final.

But the chances of Tottenham winning a major trophy in the near future look slim following some dismal performances in the Premier League and Europe.
Kane’s north London contract runs until 2024 and he is reportedly valued at £150million by Spurs.
On ITV after Kane scored in the Three Lions’ 2-0 win over Albania on Sunday, Keane said: “If you’re in his shoes and it comes to the summer, I think the guy has to move on to really win the big prizes.
“He’s not going to do it at Tottenham. He wouldn’t be the first player to sign a contract and then want to leave a year or so later.
“Mourinho might have to say, ‘he keeps making these noises, let’s take the money and move on’.”
    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS
Manchester United are one of six clubs set to be offered Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.
United target Marcos Llorente’s asking price has been set at £103million with Atletico Madrid playing hard ball for their highly-rated midfielder.
The Red Devils have held talks with AC Milan over a permanent move for defender Diogo Dalot.
United suffered an injury scare after forward Anthony Martial limped off the pitch during France’s win over Kazakhstan.
David de Gea’s future looks bleak at Old Trafford if he does not start the game against Brighton, according to a former United keeper.
Paul Pogba has finally got his £300,000 Rolls Royce back – after leaving it in a police car pound for months.
Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been slated for his angry antics during Portugal’s draw with Serbia.
SunSport readers have voted Roy Keane as the Premier League’s greatest captain ahead of Chelsea’s John Terry.
Bruno Fernandes claims he could not choose between midfielders Paul Scholes and Roy Keane, insisting he would select both in his United dream team.

A source said: “It’s incredible to think Paul took so long to sort out getting his car back.
“It’s not a little runaround — it’s a stunning limited edition £300,000 Rolls-Royce which anybody would love to sit in, let alone own.
“Instead, it gathered dust because Paul took absolutely ages to sort the necessary paperwork.”

    UP FOR KEEPS
Could David de Gea’s time at Old Trafford be nearing an end?
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Chris Turner thinks that will be the case if the Spaniard does not start against Brighton.
David de Gea’s future at Old Trafford is uncertainCredit: AFP
Turner told the Mirror: “Henderson looks like he could be United’s keeper for the next 10 years.
“I’m not sure when the shift will come, but if Dean keeps his place against Brighton after the international break the writing will be on the wall for De Gea.
“Let’s be clear, though, De Gea has done nothing wrong. He is still a world-class keeper and has proved himself time and again.”

Former Portugal international Fernando Meira said: “It’s clearly a goal, but Ronaldo can’t throw the armband on the ground like that.
“Cristiano’s reaction is natural, but it’s not acceptable from the national team captain.
“You can’t throw the armband on the ground and head into the dressing room while the game is still going on.
“It’s not acceptable behaviour for a player of his stature.”

Bruno Fernandes could not choose between Paul Scholes and Roy Keane – so included them both in his dream Manchester United midfield.

Answering a Q & A on the club website, Fernandes said: “This is a difficult one, eh? I think the most difficult until now. So, I don’t know.
“If I can have both, better, because I need the guy behind me kicking everyone and recovering balls, like Roy Keane does, and have the quality to give the balls to the guys up front.”
    HARD TO FERGET
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his best and worst moments from his 26 years in charge of Manchester United.
The greatest manager of all time had a few lows but mainly highs during his historic spell as boss of the Red Devils.

Ferguson told the club website: “There are always going to be regrets, but the thing is always to look forward.
“Tomorrow’s another day. I always did when we lost a game. The next day was better, without question.
“But in terms of the regrets, the 1994 team I had, the back four all seemed to grow old together, and that’s a terrible thing to happen to the manager because these guys were fantastic for me.”
Reflecting on his best moment, Ferguson said: “Oh, the day we won the league for the first time. God almighty! I couldn’t get out the car park.
“There were thousands of them. I went there in the afternoon because they wanted a photograph taken with the trophy and I went there at about 3pm.
“There were thousands there and I couldn’t get out of my car, they were engulfing me. It was unbelievable.”

    DYB-ING WAR
Manchester United and City are among SIX clubs set to be offered Paulo Dybala as part of a sensational summer swap deal, according to reports.
Juventus have long been keen to move on the Argentine international, 26, with the forward close to a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2019.

    ATLETICO SET LLORENTE PRICE

The Spanish winger will set the Red Devils back a whopping £103million, according to Marca.

    ‘PENALDO AND PERNANDES’
Jose Enrique has jokingly ripped into former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo and current Red Devil Bruno Fernandes.
The post came after Diogo Jota was confirmed to be injured following his two goals for Portugal against Serbia on Saturday night.
Enrique ribbed Ronaldo and Fernandes for what he deemed to be Jota ‘carrying’ the team.
    Check it out below.

    DALOT DEAL
Manchester United and AC Milan have opened talks over the permanent transfer of Diogo Dalot.
The 22-year-old is currently on-loan at the Serie A club from Old Trafford and has appeared 24 times this term.
Now The Metro claims Milan have tabled a £12million offer to try to sign the Portuguese defender permanently.
Dalot is happy in Italy and is believed he would be open to extending his stay there.
However, Milan – like most teams across Europe – are struggling to splash huge sums on players, resulting in their bid being short of the £19m United handed over to Porto in the summer of 2018.
He is on around £40,000-a-week, well within the wage structure Milan can afford with other team members on a lot more than him.

VAN DE BEEK HELPS NETHERLANDS TO WIN
Donny van de Beek helped Netherlands to a 2-0 win over Latvia last night.

    SHAW THING
Gareth Southgate has been praising Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw ahead of England’s game against Albania this evening.
The Three Lions coach said: “He’s been very good. Luke played in the first Under-21 game I took charge of.
“There’s never been any doubt in our mind about Luke’s quality.
“It’s been great to see him playing on the front foot as a full-back, with his defending and he’s been really ambitious with his attacking.
“He looks like he’s in good condition to drive forward, he’s got excellent quality with the ball, it’s a good moment for him.
“He’s aggressive against his wingers, he’s difficult to play against one-vs-one, he’s getting better with his cover defending for his centre-backs.
“He’s got to find the level he’s shown at his club and play his game.”

    UNITED DUO
Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba are both starting for France against Kazakhstan today.

    TWO YEARS ON

    MAGUIRE PRAISES RASHFORD
Harry Maguire has praised Marcus Rashford for accepting his England call-up despite being injured prior to the international break.
The Man Utd man will play no part in the World Cup qualifiers and Maguire has now given a bit of insight into the thinking behind Rashford accepting the call-up from Southgate.
He said: “It’s a bit strange with everything that’s going on, with the pandemic.
“That shows a lot from Marcus, it was a little reminder of the way we work, the principles we’ve got.
“It’s really important to show the group is together and Marcus has come even though he probably knew in his mind he wasn’t going to be fit, it shows the spirit between the players.”

    GILLESPIE ON MAN UTD
Former Man Utd player Kevin Gillespie has spoken about why he feels the club should go after Erling Haaland.
He told Football Fancast: “City are so far ahead at the minute, get Haaland, he’s the hottest property probably in world football at the minute, his stats are incredible.
“He’s a natural finisher, he’s young as well, and he’s going to come into that Man City team and score a lot of goals because of the players he’d have around him, so I think it’s important that United compete with Man City should he become available.
“I think he will become available with whatever clause he has in his contract but I suppose money talks and whatever’s offered, Dortmund might cash in.
“Certainly, they need to be showing that they are interested in a player like him, and obviously there’s been talk about Haaland before with Man United, that he is one that is on their radar.”
    CALLING ON KANE

    YOR THE ONE
Dwight Yorke has revealed he was Sir Alex Ferguson’s first-choice striker when he arrived at Manchester United in 1998.
The Premier League winner played up front with Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham and current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his time at Old Trafford.
    Credit: PA
The 49-year-old recalled a private conversation with Ferguson in an interview with TalkSPORT.
Yorke revealed: “He said ‘We want you here at the football club, we’ve watched you a few times, we know how good you are, you just need a platform to excel’.
“I knew that I was coming up against some excellent players, like Teddy, Ole and Coley.
“I wondered where I was going to be playing in this team. So he said, ‘I want you as my No 9’.
“I said, ‘What about all the rest of them?’ And he said, ‘You are my number one’. That was enough. That was all I needed to hear from him.”
    BIG DECISION
Here’s a question then United fans. Mbappe, Haaland or Kane?
Don’t think it’s a stretch to say you’d have any of them. But who would be your preferred option?
    OPENING THE DOOR?
Harry Kane may well have just opened the door to a possible transfer this summer.
Here is what the Spurs striker – who has been linked to Man Utd – said about the speculation over his future.
He told Sky Sports: “I think that’s a hard question to answer right now (whether the speculation will impact his performances for England).
“It’s important that all my focus is on the two England games coming up now and the rest of the season with Spurs and then the Euros. To be thinking about speculation or rumours would be damaging in terms of my own performance.
“I always like to be focused on one goal and one job and that’s to finish strong with Spurs, win these qualifiers with England and hopefully go on and have a great Euros. Look, I try to stay out of that speculation as much as possible.
“I’m fully focused on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer, and then we’ll see where we go from there.”

    ERL OF MADRID
Man Utd target Erling Haaland is being lined up as an option for Real Madrid, according to The Mirror.
The Spanish giants are looking to sell a number of players this summer in order to bring in either Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.
Man Utd have been linked with Haaland for a very long time, but could be set to miss out as a number of European superpowers look to secure his signature.

    SARR INSTEAD OF SANCHO
So Manchester United fans, what do you make of the fact that Watford’s Ismaila Sarr could replace Jadon Sancho as the club’s target this summer.
A major step down? Or a financially shrewd move?

    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS
Jesse Lingard has admitted he watched old videos of him in action to help rediscover his form and end his Old Trafford woes.
Manchester United have reportedly been told to match Marco Llorente’s £103million release clause if they want to sign the Atletico Madrid midfielder.
Edinson Cavani has been urged to quit United by the Uruguay assistant coach and play where he is comfortable.
Anthony Joshua paid a visit to see Manchester United legend David Beckham at Inter Miami.
United’s kit has reportedly been leaked online sparking mixed opinions from fans.
Man United Women celebrated hosting their first match at Old Trafford by defeating West Ham 2-0.
Former Valencia goalkeeper Santiago Canizares has hit out at Gary Neville for ‘treating the opportunity to coach them as a joke’.
    JESSE WATCH IT
Jesse Lingard admits he dug out recordings of his old games to help him through his Old Trafford nightmare.
The midfielder acknowledges he went through a tough time before securing a January loan switch from Manchester United to West Ham.

Lingard said: “There was a time in lockdown when I just looked back at some old England games, and games that I played well in for United, just to get the fire in my belly again.
“Since coming here I’ve had targets written down on a board and until I hit them, I won’t be fulfilled.”
    YOR THE ONE
Dwight Yorke has revealed he was Sir Alex Ferguson’s first-choice striker when he arrived at Manchester United in 1998.
The Premier League winner played up front with Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham and current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his time at the club.
Dwight Yorke was Sir Alex Ferguson’s first choice striker at Old Trafford
Recalling a conversation with Ferguson, Yorke told talkSPORT: “He said, ‘We want you here at the football club, we’ve watched you a few times, we know how good you are, you just need a platform to excel’.
“I knew that I was coming up against some excellent players, like Teddy, Ole and Coley.
“I wondered where I was going to be playing in this team. So he said, ‘I want you as my No. 9’.
“I said, ‘What about all the rest of them?’ And he said, ‘You are my number one’. That was enough.”
Where does Yorke rank in your memories of United’s strikers under Ferguson?
    POPE BLESSING
Dean Henderson will not play England’s two World Cup qualifiers this week.
England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope will start against Albania and Poland.

Pope started against San Marino but hardly touched the ball against the minnows.
And Southgate has chosen to keep Pope in the side for his side’s next two matches.
    ALL GRAVEY
Ajax talent Ryan Gravenberch is a ‘better version of Paul Pogba’, according to the teenager’s former coach.
The 18-year-old joined Ajax’s academy in 2010 and became the club’s youngest Eredivisie player aged 16 years and 130 days.

Brian Tevreden, who promoted him to Ajax U15s at the age of 12, told Goal: “Physically, I see Frank [Rijkaard] in him from back in the day because he’s tall and very strong.
“But technically, I would say he’s a better version of Pogba in his best days at Juventus, in terms of his technique and his presence on the pitch.
“He’s very dominant like Pogba was, and that’s what I see in Ryan.”

    KIT CONTROVERSY
Manchester United’s home kit for next season has reportedly been leaked online.
The plain adidas design has no pattern but opinion was split among fans – particularly over the version which included their new sponsor TeamViewer.
The leaked Man Utd kit caused a lot of talk on social media

Opinion was split among the way the TeamViewer sponsorship looks
Images claiming to depict the Red Devil’s home kit next season were uploaded by footyheadlines.
And it seems like adidas have copied Nike’s style from this season by placing the club logo and their own badge in the centre of the shirt.
England’s home kit and Tottenham’s yellow installment this season are both styled in the same fashion.
The Three Lions’ strip in particular is already being hailed as a modern cult classic.
    QUESTION TIME
Quesiton for Man Utd fans – who would you rather sign between Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe?
Haaland looks far more likely, but if you could have either, which one would you go for?

Goldenballs appeared to be giving the boxing star a tour around his new pride and joy – his Inter Miami football team.
Beckham, 45, posed for a snap with Joshua on the pitch of the Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale and wasted no time in sharing it on Instagram.
He captioned it with: “So happy to have the champ in town… WELCOME TO MIAMI.”

    KEANE ON JUDE
Manchester United legend Roy Keane has labelled Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham ‘the complete midfielder’ after his performance for England against San Marino on Thursday.
The former Red Devil said: “Bellingham looks like a complete midfielder.
“He’s still a kid playing regularly in Germany.
“He’ll be disappointed with missing the chance, but at 17 he has nice composure, happy to break forward, very good night’s work.
“He will be disappointed with the chance, he tries to complicate it when he should just side-foot it.”

    SLATING G-NEV
Former Valencia keeper Santiago Canizares has slammed Gary Neville for the way he spent his time in charge of the club.
Neville lasted just four months with the Spanish side and was sacked having won just three of his 16 La Liga games.

And Canizares has now proceeded to blast the Man Utd legend for the way he went about his role as head coach.
He told The Mirror: “That man treated the opportunity to coach Valencia as a joke. He is not worthy of my opinion, nor any of my respect.”
    RIGHT FER ME
Sir Alex Ferguson has said some of his signings as Manchester United manager ‘weren’t the best’ as he reflects on his 27 years at the club.
During his 27 years at Old Trafford the Scot signed football geniuses like Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona.

But it goes without saying there were others he was less proud of.
He said: “Some players I had were absolute natural footballers, with natural talent.
“But there were other players who shared my determination, who maybe weren’t the best players but they made themselves the best players, because they had something inside them too.”
    CAVANI SET TO LEAVE?
Uruguay’s assistant coach Mario Rebollo has urged Edinson Cavani to leave Manchester United at the end of the season.
Cavani’s father recently revealed that his son ‘does not feel comfortable’ at Old Trafford as his one-year deal looks to come to an end.
Cavani has scored seven goals in 22 games for Man Utd this seasonCredit: Getty
The club has the option to extend that deal until 2022, but Rebollo feels the striker should depart at the end of the current campaign.
“It helps the national team if Cavani goes to Boca or wherever,” Rebollo told 2 De Punta.
“The priority is that he plays where he is comfortable and with a good competitive level. If he’s close to here it’d be great, but if he’s not comfortable he would not bear it much.”
    ERL OF THE LAND
Erling Haaland’s price tag has been set as £154million by Borussia Dortmund.
Manchester United have been linked with the Norwegian for some time, even before he signed for the German club.

But they will have to pay nearly double their record transfer fee if they want to secure the 20-year-old sensation.
Would Man Utd fans want to shell out that kind of money for him?
    PROB-ROM WITH SERGIO
Sergio Romero’s wife Eliana Guercio does not want to leave Europe, according to reports.
The Manchester United outcast has been heavily linked with a move to Argentine giants Boca Juniors but his wife – who slammed the Red Devils just five months ago – may put a stop to the switch.

During the transfer saga, Guercio, 43, blasted United for showing a lack of respect to the loyal stopper.
She posted on Instagram: “Sergio Romero worked hard for his club. Last trophy they won, they lifted it with him.
“He helped the team reach four finals/semi-finals and then he was on the bench, only to lose them all. It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go.
    “RESPECT FOR ONCE!!!! [sic].”
    NOT KEANE
Manchester United legend Roy Keane has been linked with a sensational return to Celtic as manager but will hope it goes more smoothly than his single season as a player there.
Keane, 49, is currently the favourite to succeed Neil Lennon.
And while he enjoyed his time at Celtic and playing for the “brilliant fans”, he admits in retrospect that he remains EMBARRASSED by this time there.
He told an audience of fans in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast two years ago: “I really enjoyed Celtic even though I done f*** all up there.
“I signed for Celtic in December and physically I hadn’t kicked a ball in two or three months, I’d left United with a broken foot.
Keane spent the final season of his playing career at CelticCredit: Getty
“I go straight into a game up there, I tear my hamstring twice. I never justified my role at the club — if anything I’m embarrassed by my time at Celtic.
“What I really enjoyed at Celtic was, it was nice just to be in a different dressing room.
“I had great craic with the United lads but the Celtic boys — Neil Lennon, Petrov, Varga — I really enjoyed the dressing room at Celtic.
“Celtic fans must be looking at me going, ‘you were rubbish’, but it was nice to get a taste of Celtic, brilliant fans.
“But obviously I’m a professional footballer and then the struggle came and I saw the specialist about my hip and I had a year left on my contract.
“I had to go into Celtic every day with my injuries and I was embarrassed. I was ashamed to be going in picking up wages.”
    MENTAL TOUGHNESS
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he called for a ‘mental toughness’ in his players while forging his career as a manager.
Ferguson is arguably the greatest British manager of all-timeCredit: PA
Speaking to United’s official website, he said: “I go back to one of my first defeats as a manager, at 32 years of age. I didn’t expect it. I went into the game eyes wide open, that this was going to be easy.
“We lost 5-2 to Albion Rovers. I was the manager of East Stirling, the players were on £5 a week, or something like that.
“I came home and I said ‘if I don’t get Alec Ferguson in my team, I’m not going to succeed’. So I made sure that my players had a mental toughness about them, from that moment on.”
    HOLD-LING ON
A reminder of our exclusive from last night…
Manchester United are open to a sensational return for Jesse Lingard this summer – including talks over a contract extension.
Lingard has been re-called to the England squad since joining West Ham on loanCredit: Getty
The England midfielder has been in stunning form over the past few months since joining West Ham on loan until the end of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been hugely impressed with his performances, and is a long-time fan of the 28-year-old despite freezing him out.
And United will assess whether to bring him back into the Old Trafford fold before the summer, while not ruling out giving him a new deal.
He has a little more than a year left on his £100,000-a-week terms, and the club could be willing to offer him a new three-year contract.
    CEK YOURSELF
West Ham have issued a hands off warning to Manchester United for Tomas Soucek.
The Red Devils are said to be interested in acquiring his services after a super first full season with the Hammers.

Soucek joined West Ham on a permanent deal for £19million but has already been linked with a move away.
However, West Ham’s first team coach Stuart Pearce has shut down transfer rumours.
“No, he’s happy here and he’s not going anywhere, that’s for sure,” Pearce told talkSPORT of Soucek.
“He’s been brilliant here, I’ve got to say. Dave [Moyes] brought him into the club in January of last season and since then he’s just been brilliant.
“He’s got a wonderful attitude to work, on his days off he comes in to work, he’s just really an absolute pleasure to work with.
“As a man he is top quality. He and [Vladimir] Coufal, the two Czech boys, they’ve both been brilliant.
“And Tomas can be a handful, too. England will face Czech Republic in the [Euro 2020] group stages and his ability in both boxes is very, very good.”
    CLOS-ARR
Manchester United were very close to signing Watford striker Ismaila Sarr last summer before talks broke down over a £40million fee.
Watford’s former technical director Filippo Giraldi told the Here We Go podcast: “We were extremely close, I was personally negotiating with them.
Sarr has scored 15 goals in 64 appearances for WatfordCredit: Getty
“We weren’t able to reach an agreement. And I think Ismaila is very young, he will arrive for sure.
“He missed probably an opportunity, but I think also for his football to stay here and get 10 goals and 10 assists, he’s deciding the league. I think for Watford in the condition they are at the moment it’s luck he stayed.
“I love Ismaila because he has the ability to affect the game every time he plays, and that’s quite rare.
“You see fast wingers becoming more and more important in physical leagues like the Premier League. I remember last year against Manchester United and Liverpool, he was the one with Gerard Deulofeu on the other side affecting the game and deciding the game every time.
“This type of player are players you have to try to maximise and protect them as much as you can.”
    MAKING THEIR MARC
Manchester United have reportedly made an approach for Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente.
The Red Devils are set to make a £68.5million offer for the Spaniard and doubled his wages in the process.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recognises his side are too heavily reliant on Bruno Fernandes going forward and so wants to address that issue in the summer window.
Llorente has netted ten times in 35 appearances for Atletico this season, the first time he has hit double figures in a single campaign.

    OLE’S AT THE WHEEL
Manchester United are preparing to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a new contract, even if they end the season without a trophy.
The Red Devils are hoping they can cap a strong campaign with the Europa League crown.
But if they fail to triumph in Europe, The Telegraph have reported that Solskjaer will still be honoured with a new deal.
Man Utd finished fourth in the Premier League under the Norwegian last season and have progressed under his management, currently sitting second in the table.

    DREAM COME TRUE
Katie Zelem says leading Man United Women’s team out at Old Trafford will go down as one of the most thrilling experiences of her career.
Zelem told SunSport: “I think it’s, it’s quite hard to say, in a structured way what this means for me.
Zelem cannot wait to lead her team out at Old Trafford
“I’ve visited the Theatre of Dreams since I was young and been to numerous games that we’ve won and we’ve lost with good experiences and bad ones.
“When I watched the men’s team walk out onto the pitch when I was young, I used to think ‘my god that must be amazing. And now it’s me doing it.
“I think it is something I definitely couldn’t have imagined, but it’s definitely high up on my list of achievements.
“I’m sure it is with a lot of the other girls in the team.”
    DEAL FOR DALOT
AC Milan are reportedly interested in making Diogo Dalot’s loan move a permanent one.
The Manchester United wide player has featured 24 times for the Serie A giants so far this season, scoring two goals.
And according to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian side are now looking at acquiring his services long-term.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to want Dalot to return at the end of the campaign, so prising him away from Old Trafford could cost a substantial amount of money.

    KA-PAU
Manchester United have left Real Madrid fuming over their pursuit of Villarreal defender Pau Torres, according to reports.
The Red Devils are targeting a new centre-back this summer, to play alongside skipper Harry Maguire.

Emerging at the top of their wishlist is £52million-rated Torres, who has impressed for boyhood club Villarreal.
And the delighted 24-year-old is ‘determined’ to move to the Premier League.
But the developments have angered Madrid chiefs, ‘who can’t believe’ that United have ‘stolen’ their target away.
According to El Desmarque, club president Florentino Perez is ‘very angry’ at the situation.
They claim that the 74-year-old has ‘earmarked’ Torres as a potential replacement for Sergio Ramos this summer.
    ON GARD
Manchester United are open to a return for Jesse Lingard this summer with talks over a contract extension possible.
Lingard was rewarded for his excellent form on loan at West Ham by starting in England’s win over San Marino.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been very impressed with Lingard’s contribution for the Hammers.
And United will decide whether to bring him back into the Old Trafford fold before the summer, while not ruling out giving him a new deal.
He has a little more than a year left on his £100,000-a-week terms, and the club could be willing to offer him a new three-year contract.
    RASH BACK

The FA have announced Rashford will head back to United to continue his rehabilitation.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be sweating on his forward’s fitness for a crunch run of fixtures in April.
They face Granada in the Europa League quarter-finals while they look to secure second place in the Premier League.
United are next in action when they welcome Brighton to Old Trafford on April 4.
    BAILL OUT
Manchester United have put contract talks with Eric Bailly on hold.
The Sun revealed the defender has grown frustrated at falling behind Victor Lindelof in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Eric Bailly’s future at Old Trafford is uncertainCredit: EPA
A United insider said: “Eric has had enough now.
“He simply doesn’t feel wanted or respected by the manager.
“Eric doesn’t believe he gets any answers or explanation about the way he is treated and feels he is the easy option to leave out.”
Bailly’s contract expires in 2022 and the defender could be set to leave United this summer.
    NOT EVEN TOP FOUR
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to earn a major pay rise with a contract worth £10million a year.
But the Red Devils boss is still lagging behind the top managerial earners in the Premier League.

Solskjaer will only rank fifth highest earner once he signs his contract.
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola is top dog in the money rankings earning a whopping £20m-a-year.
Jurgen Klopp is next on the list taking home £15m after last season’s Premier League triumph.
Jose Mourinho also earns £15m at Spurs while Carlo Ancelotti’s salary at Everton is also higher than Solskjaer’s at £11.5m.

Manchester United ace Brandon Williams blamed his dad for speeding at 85mph in a £50,000 Mercedes as he was slapped with a £1,000 fine.
But the left-back, 20, managed to avoid any points on his licence after being defended by celebrity lawyer Nick “Mr Loophole” Freeman.
Williams, who rakes in around £40,000-a-week, was instead given a £1,000 fine and ordered to pay £720 costs at Mold Magistrates’ Court.
The lawyer, who has represented other celebs including David Beckham, successfully argued there were special reasons not to impose penalty points on his licence.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to bolster his attacking midfield options with his side relying heavily on the creativity of Bruno Fernandes.

Llorente, 26, is eyed as the ideal man bolster United’s midfield options having scored 10 and assisted nine this season.
The Spaniard is thought to be happy at the Wanda Metropolitano and was not considering a transfer having emerged as a key player under Diego Simeone.

A whole host of Europe’s biggest clubs are interested in the free-scoring sensation, with Manchester United heading that queue

Since joining Dortmund from RB Leipzig in January 2020, the 20-year-old has scored 49 goals in as many games.
In all competitions this season Haaland has netted 33 times in 31 games. He has scored ten goals in just six Champions League matches.
According to ESPN, Dortmund are asking for £154m for the Norway international.
In the summer of 2022 a clause kicks in that sees Haaland available for just £65m – but Dortmund hope the huge interest around him will lead to clubs stumping up more than double that.
As well as United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all believed to be interested in signing the powerful frontman.
    OVER THE BLUE MOON
Chelsea have been named the Premier League team of the decade.
The International Federation of Football History & Statistics have been crunching the numbers as the 2011-2020 decade came to an end.

Barcelona came out in top as their best club of the decade.
But in England, it was Chelsea that reigned supreme.
The Blues won two Premier League titles, in 2014-15 and 2016-17.
They also achieved their crowning glory in 2012, when they won the Champions League on a dramatic, historic night in Munich.
Chelsea won the FA Cup that same season, as well as in 2018, while they picked up a solitary League Cup in 2015.
    AND BARCA
Barcelona have joined Manchester United in the transfer race for Andre Silva.
The Eintracht Frankfurt striker, 25, is in red-hot form this season and attracting plenty of interest.

And according to Bild via Marca, Barcelona are plotting a summer swoop.
Silva came through at Porto before joining AC Milan, but was shipped out on loan at Sevilla and then Eintracht.
Then he made the switch to the Bundesliga side permanent in 2020.
The 38-cap Portugal international is enjoying a fine season this term with 22 goals and seven assists in 26 appearances. He also picked up the player of the month for January.
Reports earlier in March suggested United and Atletico Madrid are very keen on the 6ft 1in frontman – especially with Edinson Cavani’s Old Trafford future in doubt – with the two clubs leading Arsenal in the race for his signature.

The Republic of Ireland icon hasn’t been in charge of a club since his departure from Ipswich in 2011.
However, he has spent time as assistant to Hoops legend Martin O’Neill during his time in charge of Ireland and Nottingham Forest.
And the brutal Sky Sports footie pundit is seeking a return to the duggout, with the 49-year-old keen on replacing Neil Lennon.
In a latest development, the Daily Mail claim the former Celts midfielder has held discussions with the club’s hierarchy over the hotseat role.
It is reported the Manchester United legend is among a number of candidates under consideration by Dermot Desmond & Co.

Top-flight club bosses have agreed to switch the planned penultimate set of matches into the final midweek of the campaign, after the May 17 date set by PM Boris Johnson for crowds to return.
The fixture swap means each Premier League club will have one home game in front of supporters, with the number capped at the lower figure of 10,000 fans or a quarter of the ground’s full capacity.
But it was envisaged that only home supporters – in virtually all cases season ticket holders who have been locked out, apart from a handful of lucky supporters, since last March – would be allowed through the turnstiles.
And at yesterday’s meeting of the 20 ‘shareholder’ clubs, it was agreed to ask the Government for a change of policy that would allow visiting fans to attend.
The final set of fixtures includes a potential relegation decider between Fulham and Newcastle, with the capacity set at 4,000 supporters while Craven Cottage is still a partial construction site.
Other matches in the penultimate set of games include a possible top-four clincher between Chelsea and Leicester.
    CL HELL
Manchester United legend Gary Neville and former FA chief David Bernstein have warned the ‘obscene’ gap between Europe’s rich and poor clubs will only be widened by Uefa’s planned Champions League revamp.
And they also fear the Carabao Cup and FA Cup will be sacrificed on the altar of the financial demands of Europe’s wealthiest elite.
Neville and Bernstein are leading members of the Our Beautiful Game Group which is calling for the establishment of an independent regulator to run English football.
And in its latest submission, the group revealed its deep concerns over the impact of Uefa’s proposals to expand the Champions League from 125 matches per season to 225.
That concept for the post-2024 shape of the European game is expected to be confirmed by the end of next month and the Group said: “Uefa’s planned reforms are likely to accentuate and embed the deep financial inequality already existing.
“The gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ will grow with broadcasting rights skewed even more towards the very top clubs.”
    ROY’S TROUBLES
Roy Carroll revealed he ‘would have died from drink’ after becoming an alcoholic.
But now the former Manchester United goalkeeper is determined to help others tackle their struggles.

Carroll, 43, spent four years at Old Trafford between 2001 and 2005 – he also had spells with Wigan, West Ham and Olympiacos.
The 45-cap Northern Irish international returned to football to play for Irish outfit Dungannon Swifts this January – after being hit hard by lockdown restrictions.
In an honest interview with the Daily Mail, the stopper – who joined FC Mindwell last year alongside Keith Gillespie, a club set up for men with mental health issues – said: “I just want to give something back because I went through a really bad time with depression and alcohol. I want people to understand it’s okay to talk.
“I’ve been off the drink now for ten years in June. It’s a habit, you get into a routine.
“It can happen to anybody with depression and drinking quite heavily in the house: nothing else to look forward to, just having a couple of beers.
“It gets worse the longer lockdown is. You have a few drinks and more drinks the next night. That’s you, you’re addicted.”
    PAUL’D HIS SOCKS UP
Paul Pogba has bagged some stunners for Manchester United this season.

    MAG-NIFICENT

Outdoor football comes back for youngsters again on Monday as part of the next step of the unlocking of coronavirus restrictions.
And Manchester United are keen to play their part in supporting children, many of whom have seen their health deteriorate due to the lockdowns.
As reported by The Times, Maguire and Zelem are headlining a campaign to encourage parents and coaches to ‘be kind’ and ‘encouraging’ to kids – with a focus on participating, rebuilding confidence and fitness rather than winning.
    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly set to be rewarded with a new £10million-a-year contract. The Manchester United boss is contracted at Old Trafford until 2022 but club chiefs are poised to hand him a new deal.
The 48-year-old is set for a significant £2.5m rise on his current contract.
Jesse Lingard set up a goal for England on his international return against San Marino. Lingard, who is on loan at West Ham, provided an assist for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a lively display during England’s 5-0 World Cup qualifier win.
Marcus Rashford did not feature with the striker still not fully fit after his foot injury.
United midfielder Scott McTominay played the whole game for Scotland as they twice equalised to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Austria.
Roy Keane is the odds-on favourite to become the next Celtic manager. The outspoken pundit finished his playing career at Celtic Park.
In transfer news, West Ham coach Stuart Pearce dismissed reports of midfielder Tomas Soucek joining Manchester United. The Czech Republic star scored a hat-trick in the midweek win over Estonia.
Giovanni Galli, the man who set up Amad Diallo’s trial with Atalanta, believes the new United winger can be challenging for the Ballon d’Or within five years.
United legend Rio Ferdinand has bizarrely told Newcastle fans to stump up £300m to buy out owner Mike Ashley if they hate him so much.
Nicky Butt reportedly left the club after ‘friction’ with the newly-appointed director of football John Murtough.
SunSport exclusively revealed Derby boss Wayne Rooney is interested in adding Butt to his coaching staff.
    MCTOMINAY HELPS SCOTS EARN POINT
Scott McTominay played the whole game as Scotland battled to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Austria.
The Manchester United midfielder lined up in Steve Clarke’s side as they needed two equalisers to deny Austria.

Sasa Kalajdzic twice gave Austria the lead but Scotland would not be denied.
Grant Hanley’s header made it 1-1 and with just five minutes left a stunning overhead kick from John McGinn earned a point.
    LINGARD ASSIST
It has been a lively display from Jesse Lingard and the Manchester United attacker has just set up England’s fourth goal.
Lingard’s pass set up a simple tap-in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to make it 4-0 against San Marino.

Lingard’s display has certainly justified Gareth Southgate’s decision to bring him back into the England squad.
    LINGARD CHANCE
Jesse Lingard has just missed a big chance to get on the scoresheet for England.

But Lingard spurned the chance to score after missing his half volley from Ben Chilwell’s cross.
England are currently 3-0 up with goals from James Ward-Prowse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Raheem Sterling.
    NO CZECH OUT
West Ham coach Stuart Pearce has dismissed talk of Manchester United target Tomas Soucek going anywhere.
Soucek has been a revelation for the Hammers and enhanced his value with a hat-trick in the Czech Republic’s win in Estonia.

The midfielder has caught United’s eye but Pearce insists his future remains with West Ham.
Pearce told talkSPORT: “No, he’s happy here and he’s not going anywhere, that’s for sure.
“He’s been brilliant here, I’ve got to say. Dave (Moyes) brought him into the club in January of last season and since then he’s just been brilliant.
“He’s got a wonderful attitude to work, on his days off he comes in to work, he’s just really an absolute pleasure to work with.
    RASHFORD MISSING
No real surprise but Marcus Rashford is not fit to play for England in their World Cup qualifier with San Marino.
The Manchester United striker is not involved due to his foot injury but may be available for their two matches next week.

But Jesse Lingard, who is on loan at West Ham, has been rewarded with his impressive form with a start.
The attacker will be hoping to make a big impact on his international return.
United players Dean Henderson, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are on the bench for Gareth Southgate’s side.
    BALLON D’IALLO
Manchester United whizkid Amad Diallo has been tipped to challenge for the Ballon d’Or within five years – by the man who set him on the road to stardom.
Former AC Milan and Italy keeper Giovanni Galli believes the winger, 18, just needs to add strength to his unique skills.

Galli, who arranged the attacker’s trial with Atalanta, told Goal: “Amad is unique but he must make himself stronger.
“At the same time, he must make sure he does not lose his speed, which is a quality that distinguishes him from others.
“In short, I think he has all the qualities to be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the next five years.”
    RASHFORD DOUBT
We’re a couple of hours away from England starting their World Cup qualification campaign at home to minnows San Marino.
Will Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford be involved?

The 23-year-old has not been training with the England squad due to a foot injury.
England boss Gareth Southgate said: “Marcus has been very keen to be with us. He obviously wasn’t with us so much in the autumn.”
But with two more games over the next week including a crucial clash with Poland it is unlikely England will take any risks over Rashford’s fitness.
