    CAV SOME OF THAT
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he will do everything to keep Edinson Cavani at Man Utd next season.
The Uruguayan, who scored a brace against Roma tonight, has been heavily linked with a move to Boca Juniors this summer.
But Solskjaer said: “He knows my feelings. He knows I would love to have him here.
“I promised him Old Trafford is a different place with fans. I am doing my best. Hopefully we will see him here for another year.”

    OLE REFLECTS
The United boss told BT Sport: “I don’t feel the job is done yet, but that was a good job done.
“They were good and had quality, as you saw from the goals in the two moments we gave them.
“In Rome, they’ll get chances against us, so we have to be prepared with a response.
” We know we have creative players who can create big moments and big chances.
“Paul’s positioning today was very good, he was allowed freedom and knew there was a good foundation behind him.
“That’s the difference today, we took most of our chances, so I’m very pleased.”
    FALL OF ROMA
Manchester United have more than one foot in the Europa League final after a scintillating Edinson Cavani-inspired 6-2 first leg win against Roma.

Paul Pogba got the goal his industrious performance deserved and then sub Mason Greenwood rounded off the scoring as United completed a stunning turnaround at Old Trafford.

    PUSH AND GAAL
Gerard Pique claims ex-Barcelona and Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal “destroyed” him as a kid – shoving him to the ground and telling him: “You’re not strong enough”.
Marca report the Spaniard as saying: “My grandfather was a manager and he brings Van Gaal to eat. I was 11 or 12 years old.
“I dressed in my shirt, lest I continue six years later and I continue at Barca.
“Before saying hello, he gives me a push and he throws me to the ground… ‘you are not strong to be a defender’.
“I thought that I should have been stronger.”
    WHEN IN ROME

    SOLSK SCULPTURE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be honoured with a statue in his hometown.
And the bust is being funded by locals who have already raised £53,000.
As reported by Tidens Krav, the Solskjaer statue is set to be erected in Kristiansund on Norway’s west coast.
It will be created by artist Tore Bjorn Skjolsvik with Ole Tonder agreeing to pay a whopping £76,000.
The city’s population – which totals around 24,000 – have agreed to cover the costs and gift the sculpture to the buyer.

    SILVA-PLATED
Real Madrid could be about to move ahead of Manchester United in the race for Andre Silva.
Reports in Germany indicate the LaLiga giants are willing to allow Luka Jovic to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt permanently in a player-plus-cash deal.
Silva, 25, has smashed 26 goals for the Bundesliga club this season after signing from AC Milan.
United are said to be among them along with Borussia Dortmund, who could become particularly keen if Erling Haaland leaves.
But Madrid have entered the race with a unique offer, according to Bild, and are the preferred destination for Silva.

    SERIE-OUS MONEY
Former Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is Inter Milan’s top-earning star.
While Alexis Sanchez earning more than DOUBLE Ashley Young’s pay.

    CROWN JULES
Real Madrid are reportedly looking to fend off competition from Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Sevilla star Jules Kounde.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move in the summer after two impressive years in Spain since joining from Bordeaux in 2019.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that United were weighing up a move for Kounde to pair him alongside Harry Maguire.
But according to AS, Madrid are looking to keep Kounde in Spain as Zinedine Zidane eyes up a summer swoop.
    THE RON FOR ME
Cristiano Ronaldo’s super-agent Jorge Mendes reportedly offered the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back to Manchester United.
Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim that CR7 is considering his options this summer if Juventus fail to qualify for the Champions League.
And the report adds that Mendes offered Ronaldo to the three clubs capable of affording both the forward’s transfer fee and salary.
Real Madrid were said to have declined while Paris Saint-Germain were not interested but United were the only club to respond.
The Red Devils reportedly demanded that Ronaldo would have to take a 50% pay cut if there would be any chance of a deal.

    NO SMALL FAVOURS
Luke Shaw warned old pals Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan that they won’t get any special treatment when Roma face Manchester United in the Europa League semi-final tonight.
Shaw said: “Mkhi and Chris, I was here with both of them, and I really missed them when they left, they were really good guys and brilliant players.
“It’ll be really nice to see them, they’ve both been doing really well. They’ve both been a bit unfortunate with injuries but they’re back fit now and they will obviously make their team much stronger than before.
“I’m looking forward to seeing them tonight but the game is the most important, so we won’t be friends during it but maybe after we’ll have a chat.”
But asked if he will be taking it easy against his old mates, Shaw was emphatic.
He added: “No, there’s none of that. We’re all professionals and it’s our job, we’re doing it for ourselves but also the fans so it’s very important to keep being professional.
“It’ll be very nice to see them but we’ll leaving the talking until after. We need to win the game and doing everything to win it.”
    LUKE-ING GOOD
Luke Shaw said his outstanding Manchester United form is down to the return of his confidence ahead of tonight’s Europa League semi-final against Roma.
Shaw said: “My form has been much improved, I’m enjoying my football. I’ve got my confidence back and I’m just loving playing football again.
“Personally it’s nice for me to have a good season but that doesn’t really matter if we don’t have a successful season and that is to win a trophy.
“If we don’t win a trophy and I’ve still had a good season I’ll be disappointed because the most important thing – and it’s why we play for a big club like Manchester United – is to win trophies.
“Yeah I’ve been good but I want to help the team push for this trophy and cap off a great season and one I’ll be happy with if we do win the trophy.”

    UP FOR G-RABS
Juventus are considering flogging midfielder Adrien Rabiot after an underwhelming campaign, according to reports.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the midfield enforcer.
And they could be handed a major transfer boost judging by reports coming out of Italy.
TuttoSport write how the Old Lady have finally lost patience with Rabiot and are looking to upgrade him in the summer.
Rabiot, 26, has featured heavily under Andrea Pirlo with 21 Serie A starts.
But the reports adds how, except for a handful of matches, Rabiot’s performances, on the whole, have been average.
Pirlo is eager to delve into the market this summer following a disappointing campaign with their nine-year Serie A reign coming to an end.

    KANE DO ATTITUDE
Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Harry Kane’s situation very closely.
The Tottenham striker failed to pick up his first major trophy with Spurs tasting defeat in the Carabao Cup final and could look to leave the club this summer with Champions League football seemingly off the cards.
Norwegian outlet Dagbladet reports Kane is thinking about the idea of moving and the Red Devils are keeping tabs as things unfold.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will ask for a minimum of £125million for the England captain.
    LINCREDIBLE GESTURE
Jesse Lingard showed off his caring side by sending out mental health packages to his pals – before revealing his new ‘Be Yourself’ tattoo.
The West Ham star – currently on-loan from Manchester United – has been open and honest with his own battles with mental health in recent months.
Earlier this month, Lingard, 28, opened up about his struggle to cope with his mum’s depression and how it affected him both on and off the pitch.
But the in-form midfielder is keen to make sure his family and friends are looked after by sending care packages to them.
Derby’s former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe shared a picture of Lingard’s thoughtful gift on Instagram.
Earlier this year, Ibe revealed he was in a ‘dark place’ and was suffering from depression.

    SEVENTH HEAVEN
Manchester United know how to thump Roma after giving the Italians a 7-1 spanking in 2007 at Old Trafford.
The two sides go head to head tonight in the Europa League semi-final.

    KANE HE COME?
Harry Kane could be heading to Manchester this summer, according to former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara.
He told talkSPORT: “After that statement he’s obviously going to leave. I can see him going to one of the Manchester clubs.
“I can see him at City and United. As a Spurs fan, selfishly, I’d love him to stay, I’d love him to be at the football club because he’s just so professional. It’s so great what he’s done.
“But you cannot begrudge him leaving because watching that final, we were miles off it. We’re miles away from winning a trophy.
“I just can’t see us competing at the level he wants to be. You have to let him go.
“This is his big move. It’s the one move where he can go for a lot of money. I’d love to see him go and play for Real Madrid.
“He’d do great. But I just think he will be at a Manchester club.”

    MOST WANTED
Manchester United will make Erling Haaland their No1 transfer target, according to reports.
But the Red Devils may be forced to wait one more year before landing him for a bargain £65million fee.
The Norwegian striker is Europe’s hottest property with a host of European giants prepared to make their moves.
Manchester United are no different with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eager to land a prolific goalscorer to lead the line.
According to Eurosport, club chiefs including director John Murtough have determined they will go all out to land Haaland.
Dortmund are likely to put their star asset up for sale this summer for £130million if they miss out on Champions League football.

    KNOWLEDGE PAUL
Paul Pogba is drawing inspiration from some unlikely sources ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League semi-final against Roma.
The French midfielder wants to take lessons from the mental strength shown by American sporting legends including Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and boxers Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.
Pogba told Uefa: “Tom Brady was just an example to really show people that, despite his age, he was still up to the challenge. He changed franchises but still won, which means that it’s possible to do so; wanted to show people that you could still succeed after changing clubs. He never gives up.
“I have another example of a personal inspiration for me: Michael Jordan. I think that most of us already know his story, and his leadership and work ethic really have been an inspiration to me.
“You want to take the last shots, like [Michael Jordan] did, and you always want to win. That requires extraordinary mental strength, and it’s a great source of inspiration for me.
“Muhammad Ali is also an inspiration for me. In his day, he was one of the youngest heavyweights – just like Mike Tyson after him – to be crowned world champion. All of those people are inspirations because of their daily work ethic.
“They push themselves. They might fall or lose, but they keep going, they come back stronger and they never give up. That’s important to me.”

Manchester United defender Brandon Williams may not be making noise on the pitch, but he certainly is off it after getting a roaring lion sleeve tattoo.
The 20-year-old – who has been limited to just seven minutes of Premier League football this term – has taken inspiration from Mason Greenwood’s latest artwork.

The Red Devils striker has just got a lion tattoo sporting a crown on his forearm, with his team-mate also opting to get the king of the jungle inked onto him.
Adding to his chest piece, Williams decided to get a full sleeve on his left arm, with a clock incorporated into the design.

Manchester United have begun talks with Jadon Sancho’s representatives ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.
The Red Devils made the England wideman their No1 target last summer but failed to stump up the £108million required to lure him from Borussia Dortmund.
But 90min reports United are still keen on signing the 21-year-old.

    MORNING, MAN UNITED FANS
The Red Devils are back in action this evening, as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to put an end to his semi-finals hoodoo as Manchester United manager.
Solskjaer, 48, has reached four previous semis as boss, without winning a single one of them.
And Luke Shaw is as determined as anyone to turn that situation around – starting in tonight’s first-leg against AS Roma at Old Trafford.
The England left-back said: “Personally, for me it’s a massive motivation.
“As you said then, I’ve been quite unfortunate to not be involved in semis and finals, so of course I’m really looking forward to tomorrow night to step out in one.
“But, of course, from a team point of view, it’s very important. In the past, we’ve missed out on a few finals and I think this season, the way we’ve been playing, the way the confidence is high, we’ve got real belief that we can reach it.
“Like I said, it’s a massive motivation for not just me, but for the whole team to reach the final. It’s a game we’re looking forward to tomorrow and one we’re very ready for.”
Should United win, they could play in front of a 10,000 crowd in the Gdansk final on May 26 – potentially against Arsenal.
    NOT DONN
Manchester United transfer target Gianluigi Donnarumma has put AC Milan contract talks on hold, according to reports.
The goalkeeper’s current deal at the San Siro expires this summer.
And with the Italian desperate to play in the Champions League, Football Italia state he slammed the brakes on negotiations.
Milan put a two-year extension on the table worth £130,000 per week.
But Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola is holding out for £200,000 per week for his 22-year-old client who is closing in on 250 first-team appearances for the Rossoneri, six years after his breakthrough.
None of those, however, have been in Europe’s elite club competition with the club last featuring in it way back in 2013-14.
The shot-stopper was also holding discussions with Juventus over a potential Serie A switch as the Old Lady offered around £167,000 a week.
But neither AC nor Juve have guaranteed Champions League football next season.
Gianluigi Donnarumma has put contract talks on hold because he is desperate to play Champions League football
    ICYMI – EUR KIDDING ME
Arsenal and Manchester United have been told they will play in front of a 10,000 crowd if they reach next month’s Europa League Final.
But fans of the two Prem sides are unlikely to be allowed to travel to Poland – with local supporters set to be the only people allowed through the gates.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has announced a series of new measures as the country emerges from the Covid crisis.
That includes outdoor sports stadiums being able to open their turnstiles to up 25 per cent of capacities from May 15.
The Europa League Final is scheduled for the Stadion Miejski in Gdansk on May 26.
It is the home ground of Lechia Gdansk and has an all-seater capacity of 41,620. That will allow potentially 10,405 fans inside for the Final.

    LOUIS LOSES OUT
Louis van Gaal has revealed the TEN Manchester United transfer targets he missed out on – including Neymar and Robert Lewandowski.
The Dutchman, 69, told FourFourTwo: “I wanted Robert Lewandowski but when this proved difficult I tried to get Gonzalo Higuain instead.
“Before I had arrived, I also spoke with the board about Neymar. If you are at United, you have to think big.
“He was also interesting for the club in terms of selling shirts, and I wanted to have quick wingers. For that reason, I also tried to get Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez.
“Thomas Muller was on my wish list, too, and in central midfield I wanted N’Golo Kante.
“I even tried to sign James Milner, who was already quite old but very multifunctional and possessed leadership skills.
“For the defence, I wanted Sergio Ramos and Mats Hummels, because ours wasn’t the strongest in building from the back.
“Those were my top targets, but we couldn’t get any of them. I don’t know why, because as the manager I wasn’t involved in any negotiations.
“After I left, players like Mahrez and Kante ended up at Manchester City and Chelsea, while United couldn’t get them. I found that very odd.”

    ONES FER ME
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has picked his dream five-a-side team – but only with Portuguese players.
The Red Devils ace obviously picked Cristiano Ronaldo but also included some surprising names…
Fernandes was asked to pick his dream team in an online Q&A with United’s website.
The first name on the team-sheet was Wolves keeper Rui Patricio, with whom Fernandes won the Euros.
Former Chelsea centre-half Ricardo Carvalho was his rock at the back.
He wasted no time in picking his forwards with Portuguese legends Luis Figo and Ronaldo slotting in up front.
But in his own midfield position the playmaker found it much tougher.
He was grappling between Deco and the mercurial Rui Costa and eventually opted for the latter – leaving himself out the side.
    Fernandes picked an all-Portuguese five
    HEAR THE MAN OUT…
England stars from other clubs are reportedly asking their Man United Three Lions team-mates about life at Old Trafford.

    WORTH A LUKE
Former Manchester United ace Luke Chadwick has called on his old club to try and use Jesse Lingard in a swap deal for Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
He told CaughtOffside: “I think Jesse Lingard, since his loan to West Ham, has probably been the best player in the Premier League for the past six, eight weeks.
“It’s been fantastic for him and has perhaps shown that it is time for him to move on to pastures new.
“If that was possible, and Lingard gets to play week in, week out at a club like Aston Villa, and Man United can attract one of the best players in the league in Jack Grealish, who’s got a huge future in front of him, that could be a fantastic piece of business on both sides.”

    GUNNAR HAVE RESPECT
Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he meant no disrespect to Roma, when he admitted he hadn’t seen them play after beating Granada earlier this month.
He said: “That was straight after the game and, with all the games we’ve had, I was just relieved that we had gone through.
“Of course, I’ve watched them but I hadn’t analysed them and I hadn’t seen them in depth to give them enough respect probably.
“It’s a fantastic club with a great history. I’ve actually got two prized possessions back home – a [Francesco] Totti shirt and a [Daniele] De Rossi shirt – I swapped shirts with them, they’re actually signed!
“We are ready for them,” he added. “My comment was not meant as any disrespect and I think everyone knows that. I have got loads of respect for them.”

Andre Silva ‘wants LaLiga transfer over Man Utd move’ with Real Madrid to offer Jovic plus cash to Eintracht Frankfurt

REAL MADRID could be about to move ahead of Manchester United in the race for Andre Silva.Reports in Germany indicate the LaLiga giants are willing to allow Luka Jovic to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt permanently in a player-plus-cash deal.

Silva, 25, has smashed 26 goals for the Bundesliga club this season after signing from AC Milan.
Long tipped to become one of Europe’s top forwards, he has earned the attention of several prospective buyers.
United are said to be among them along with Borussia Dortmund, who could become particularly keen if Erling Haaland leaves.
SunSport revealed in February that the Red Devils are pondering a £30m offer if Edinson Cavani leaves for free.
But Madrid have entered the race with a unique offer, according to Bild, and are the preferred destination for Silva.
Serbian striker Jovic, 23, made his name with Eintracht before a £52m move to Real in 2019.

After a poor season which saw him net just two goals, the player was loaned back to Frankfurt and could remain with the club as part of this deal.
It is said Madrid are willing to pay around £17m plus Jovic to land Silva’s signature.
The transfer may require the Serb to take a large pay cut from his rumoured £170,000-a-week wage.
And Eintracht may yet seek a bigger fee for Silva if the side, currently fourth in the table, qualify for the Champions League.

It has been mooted that the Portugal international is available through a release clause for just £26m, something the player’s camp has denied.
Agent Hendrik Schauerte told Bild last week: “Of course, at the current time of the season, the speculation will not decrease, we are not guided by that.
“Andre is totally focused and wants to secure the Champions League places with Eintracht.”

    MORE FROM SHAW
Luke Shaw has offered his thoughts on why Man United have fallen at the semi-final stage of competitions FIVE times under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He said: “I think, first and foremost, no semi-final is easy, they’re always tough games.
“We’ve just missed out on a few, like you said. We’ve had a lot of disappointment from that, so I think we can use that as motivation for this one, the way we felt after them.
“Like I say, we were very disappointed, we can just reflect on that and put things right tomorrow and start with that.
“It’s obviously two legs so you know it will only be half-time after tomorrow, but the first leg will always be a very important one and we’ve had a few days to prepare for this and we’re ready for this because we want to win this trophy.”

    SHAW THING
Manchester United star Luke Shaw has spoken of his ‘motivation’ to reach the Europa League final, after missing his side’s 2017 triumph through injury.
The England star said: “Personally, for me it’s a massive motivation.

    ONE FER THE FUTURE
Bruno Fernandes has revealed he dreams of managing Manchester United once he has retired as a player.
Speaking to the club’s website about what he plans to do after retiring from football, he said: “I think I want to be a coach.
“Honestly, I would like to be a coach. I don’t know which team I would like to manage. Of course, the biggest team if I can manage Manchester United, I will be happy.
“I can leave now just some words so if people see this, if I’m a manager in the future, the fans can make some pressure to bring me as a coach!
“But I think I would like to be a coach in the future. I’m not sure but for what I feel for football, for the feeling I have, I think I have to continue to be inside of football because my whole life is about this.

    CROWN JULES
Sevilla are interested in taking Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech as part of the Blues’ bid for Jules Kounde, according to reports in Spain.
French defender Kounde is rumoured to be one of the hottest properties of the summer transfer market.
A strong second season with Sevilla has helped put the LaLiga club in position for an unlikely late title challenge.
And Manchester United are said to be monitoring the player, along with Chelsea.
Spanish outlet El Gol Digital have claimed that Ziyech could be key to unlocking the deal.
Selling the midfielder as part of Kounde’s move to West London could reportedly chop 50 per cent off the transfer fee.

    WAGE RAGE
Liverpool have risen above Manchester United in the Premier League wage bill standings – but still sit miles adrift of Manchester City.
The official salary totals for the 2019-20 season have now been confirmed.
Across last season, the Reds paid out a whopping £325million in player wages.
Meanwhile, Manchester City still top the pile, shelling out an extraordinary £351m on wages last season.
Man Utd sit third on the list – miles adrift of their local rivals – on £284m, despite David De Gea signing a massive £375,000-a-week contract at the start of the season.
Last season, Chelsea spent just £1m less than United on wages at £283m.
Arsenal and Tottenham ran the tightest ship wage-wise, spending just £225m and £181m respectively last term.
Man City spent the most on players wages in 2019-20, with Liverpool overtaking Man Utd
    BIRTHDAY BOY
Man Utd playmaker Juan Mata has turned 33 today.
Take a look at his strike against former employers Chelsea two years ago on this day.

    RED AHEAD
Sir Alex Ferguson could be celebrating £296,000 winnings from the past month if his horse triumphs in the Punchestown Gold Cup today.
Fergie’s Clan Des Obeaux has been tipped by Templegate to land the big one in Ireland.
Victory there would give the Manchester United icon and the horse’s two other owners a tasty £127,000 windfall.
That would come on the back of a magical day at Aintree earlier this month when Fergie cheered home the first three winners.
The former Old Trafford gaffer co-owns Protektorat, Monmiral and Clan Des Obeaux.
    GIGGS IN COURT
Ryan Giggs has arrived at court this morning charged with attacking his ex-girlfriend.
The Manchester United legend, 47, is accused of causing actual bodily harm to PR executive Kate Greville, 36, at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester.
The former United star and Wales national team manager faces an additional charge of engaging in coercive or controlling behaviour against her over a three-year period.
It’s claimed that throughout their three-year relationship – between December 2017 and November 2020 – Giggs used “harassment, humiliation, degradation and abuse” against Kate.
Giggs has also been charged with common assault against her younger sister Emma.
Police were called to Giggs’ £1.7million mansion at 10.05pm on November 1 last year after reports of a disturbance. He was arrested and later bailed pending further inquiries.

    CREAM OF THE CROP
Bruno Fernandes has been the cream of the crop for Manchester United this season… and the secret to his udderly brilliant performances could be down to his relentless milk intake.
The Portuguese superstar has been spotted by eagle-eyed viewers sipping on the white stuff from the substitute bench during moments throughout the season.
During a Q&A with Red Devil supporters, one asked why he has stopped his ritual, with Fernandes was eager to reassure he is still downing milk.
As reported on United’s official site, he said: “I don’t stop drinking milk. It’s just that the coach is substituting me less than before.
“Before, he changed me a lot of times and I think in the last games I was not coming off a lot of times so you never see me with the milk.
“But, honestly, I don’t know if it is milk – sometimes it’s milk and sometimes it’s water with some stuff to help us [with the] recovery.
“But it’s okay, the milkman for me, I like milk so it’s okay, don’t worry about that. I still do it but sometimes in the dressing room, sometimes I take that drink to my home to drink.”

    TELL ALL
Man Utd defender Alex Telles has warned his side they will have to wary of Roma striker Edin Dzeko for Thursday’s Europa League clash.
Speaking to the club’s matchday magazine United Review, the Brazilian said: “We’re always keeping an eye on the teams we may come up against further down the line, so we’ll watch their game.
“I know Roma are a quality team with very good attacking players such as Edin Dzeko. Players who create a lot up front.“
Before adding: ““He’s a quality finisher, he knows how to score goals. You’re dealing with a centre-forward with a real physical presence because of his stature.
“He’s a constant danger so we need to concentrate. I believe we have a very strong and focused backline to deal with this.
“We know facing a team like Roma in a semi-final that we’re going to be up against quality players. We have to be ready.“

    WHEN IN ROME
Manchester United’s Luke Shaw believes the Europa League semi-final against Roma could define their season and it’s time they scooped up the trophy.
Resurgent left-back Shaw said: “These are three massive games coming up and especially the two against Roma, which could sort of define our season.
“I think we have been in the semi-finals a lot in the last two seasons, and we haven’t been successful in them.
“So this is a chance for us to take a step in the right direction, get through that and then win the competition.”
    SCRATCH THE IC
Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic recognises Roma will be a tough task in the Europa League semi-final but the club need to progress and bring trophies home.
He said: “I think it’s time to get to the final and win this trophy, but it’s going to be hard.
“We respect Roma, we know that they are a good squad with a good coach and a big club.
“It’s going to be interesting, but we have to believe in our qualities.
“We want to play in that big final and bring trophies to Old Trafford because this club deserves the best.”

Spanish outlet El Gol Digital have claimed that Ziyech could be key to unlocking the deal.

Ziyech has been a long-term target of the Andalusians since breaking out with Ajax and has not made himself a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge.
Both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel have used the Moroccan sparingly, awarding him only 13 starts in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old came on as a substitute in Tuesday’s draw at Real Madrid, as he did during the weekend match against West Ham.

    BRU BEAUTY
Bruno Fernandes revealed compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo is his No1.
But the Portuguese playmaker, 26, is the undisputed GOAT at Manchester United following another stunning season at Old Trafford.

    MORE FROM BRUNO
Fernandes admitted national pride takes over, with Fred and Telles backing the Brazilians, while he defends his Portuguese colleagues.
The United star continued: “They say it because they’re Brazilian and, in Brazil, they say it.
“I think Pele is one of the best in the world because I hear people talking about him.
“I’ve seen some videos… everyone can see [Diego] Maradona, Eusebio and people talk about Pele as being the best of all time.
“But we always fight about Rivaldo and [Luis] Figo and which one was best.
“So, for me as a Portuguese, I always defend my players.
“It doesn’t matter if I like them or not, I defend the Portuguese players every time.
“So this is a fight between Brazilian and Portuguese people but it is more of a joke than other stuff.”
    NO RON GREATER
Bruno Fernandes has admitted he argues with his Manchester United team-mates over who is football’s true GOAT.
In a fan Q&A, he told the Man Utd website: “[Fred and Telles] always talk about who is the best player in the world, in history…
“We always fight because they say Pele was the best in the history of football.
“I put Cristiano in the middle, of course.
“For me, Cristiano and Messi have been making history for many years and they were capable of being at the top for many years.
“And, of course, the same as me, [Fred and Telles] have never seen Pele play so they can’t say he was the best because they never saw him.”
    COACH BRUNO?

Les Parisiens are preparing to host Manchester City in the first leg of their semi-final on Wednesday night as they look to reach the final yet again.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he said: “I think Paris Saint-Germain will win it.

“They’ve been here together, they’re not fazed and I think they’ll have the experience.
“Pochettino comes up smelling of roses after a turbulent couple of years.”
    FER THE FUTURE
Bruno Fernandes has revealed his desire to become a manager after hanging up his boots.
The Portuguese midfielder said: “I think more [it’s] in my future. Now I’m seeing time passing and seeing kids coming from 2000, 2001, 2002, and my sister is from 2000, so it’s making for some confusion in my head.
“I’m trying to enjoy the football, you know. I think I want to be a coach. Honestly, I would like to be a coach.
“I don’t know which team I would like to manage. Of course, the biggest team if I can manage Manchester United, I will be happy.

Marcos Llorente showed Manchester United what they’re missing after breaking a speed record in the 91st minute.
The Athletic Bilbao ace showed remarkable pace and willpower to help ensure his side picked up all three points against Atletico Madrid.
His willingness, desire and speed is further evidence why United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to pay £68.5million for his signature.
Llorente, 26, is eyed as the ideal man bolster United’s midfield options having scored 10 and assisted nine this season.

    EU BEAUTY
Gareth Southgate will be able to choose a 26-man squad for the Euros after a Uefa rethink.
Members of Uefa’s national team committee agreed to extend squads from the normal size of 23 players as a result of the demands of the Covid-condensed season.
The decision will be ratified by Uefa’s ruling executive committee later this week.
But it means Southgate will be given more flexibility in his thinking when it comes to his squad for the finals which start in June.
Southgate suggested last month he would be happy to stick with the normal 23 and he appeared to hint that Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was likely to miss out.
But the extra places represent good news for Alexander-Arnold and also for players like Bukayo Saka at Arsenal and Dortmund teenagers Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho. It is also a boost for Aston Villa starlet Jack Grealish.
    DON AND DUSTED
Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Gianluigi Donnarumma with the goalkeeper reportedly set to stay at AC Milan.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract in the summer, leading to the likes of the Red Devils and Chelsea to keep tabs on his situation.
It had been claimed that the Italy international was given a May 23 deadline by the Rossoneri to pen a new contract at the San Siro.
Tuttosport stated that Milan were ready to hand the academy graduate £130,000-a-week to keep him at the club, with Juventus also keen to snap him up.
And according to talkSPORT’s European transfer expert Chris Parrott, Donnarumma is expected to commit his future to Milan, who could be back in the Champions League next term.

    SHORE FIRE
Manchester United youngsters Shola Shoretire and Amad Diallo were in the goals for the Under-23s on Friday night.

    SOL SEARCHING
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken ahead of Manchester United’s crucial Europa League semi-final first leg against Roma on Thursday.
The Norwegian said: “Roma defend well, as Italians always do of course.
“They’re an experienced team and we all know Edin Dzeko, so any ball in the box is a dangerous one.
“We’re looking forward to it, of course. We’re in a semi-final now and it feels like a proper European tie, because Roma is a club with loads of tradition and history, but we’ve done well against Italian teams before.
“We’re looking forward to it and we’re going into these games hoping to get to the final. If you can finish this season with a final and a trophy then that would be great.”
    CALL FOR VAR
Raphael Varane has edged closer to the Real Madrid exit door after refusing to commit his future to the club.
Reports claim how Manchester United and Chelsea will battle it out for his signature in the summer.

World Cup winner Varane has just a year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and has yet to agree on new terms.
Varane, 28, was quizzed on his uncertain future ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League encounter with Chelsea.
According to AS, he gave the Premier League duo a transfer boost by only responding: “I am focused on giving everything in this season finale.”
The report adds how Varane has been preparing his departure for months and the club have made no special effort to retain his services.
With a market value of around £61million, Los Blancos know his fee will help ease financial woes caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
    FANDEMONIUM
Manchester United are increasing security at their Carrington training complex and Old Trafford following the European Super League fallout.
Last week a group of furious fans broke into Carrington and blocked the first-team players and manager from entering.
They demanded they spoke with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while holding up banners such as ‘we decide when you play’ and ‘Glazers out.’
Their protest ended peacefully with coach Michael Carrick, technical director Darren Fletcher and midfielder Nemanja Matic also addressing the players.
Hundreds of United supporters also protested in mass against their owners outside Old Trafford on Saturday.
A plane was also flown over the 0-0 draw with Leeds with a banner that read ‘£2BN STOLEN #GLAZERSOUT.’
According to the Athletic, United are increasing security at Carrington following the backlash. The report adds how emails have been sent to staff and players detailing the new protection measures.

    RON RETURN?
Cristiano Ronaldo is “looking very carefully” at a return to Man Utd in case Juventus fail to qualify for the Champions League, according to reports in Italy.
TuttoSport claim Ronaldo’s future in Turin is a “thorny and uncertain” issue even if Juve finish second, third or fourth.
But if they finish outside the top four the club will certainly not be able to afford the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s wages.
Juventus are currently in fourth position in Serie A, above AC Milan on goal difference alone.
Ronaldo is also said to be looking at PSG as a potential destination.

    GOOD MORNING UTD FANS,
Eric Bailly has signed a new deal until 2024 with the option of a further year.
The Ivorian told the club’s media: “I’m very happy. This decision is something I didn’t have to think about, I love this club and I love playing for Manchester United.
“I’m happy and so are my family, everything is good. Now the moment with my injury has passed and I’m fit and feel good, and that’s it. A new contract is like a new challenge and I’m ready for this.
“That’s why I say the new contract shows the group has confidence in me – the coach, the staff and the players and, for me, that is very important.
“And that’s why I made this decision to stay at the club.”
Meanwhile, United have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Abdallah Sima, according to reports.
The Slavia Prague ace has impressed for the Czech side in the Europa League this season.
Impressive forward Sima, 19, has drawn comparisons with Thierry Henry with his livewire performances.
And he fits in to Man United’s current recruitment policy.
According to the MEN, the Red Devils are ‘monitoring’ Sima’s progress ahead of a potential summer move.
And finally, Villarreal star Pau Torres admits he’s ‘proud’ to be linked with the likes of Manchester United.
He told Sport: “It’s a pride to see that your work is reflected in these kind of things that are talked about.
“But I face it with a lot of calm, I’m in a great club like Villarreal, and from the tranquility, I work every day.
“I’m not thinking about (leaving) either, there’s still a long way to go and my short-term objectives are the European semi-final and then to be available for the national team.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played down talk of a bust-up between Fred and Harry Maguire.
The Red Devils captain was heard calling his team-mate a “f***ing idiot” in their goalless draw with Leeds.
But Solskjaer, 48, brushed over the incident by claiming it was a result of the demands his players have of one another.
He said: “We have got a group that demands a lot of each other.
“The standard is high, both in training and in a game — it is not just about being a nice guy. We demand maximum effort.”
He added: “I was really proud of how strong we looked. I never thought they threatened our goal in the second half but we missed a little bit of spark to win the game.”

He said: “The No9 shirt in Newcastle is very important, very special.
“I watched No9s when I was a youngster in Newcastle growing up, it was always my dream to play for them and have that shirt.
“I was aware of the interest, and also the interest of Manchester United.
“I spoke to both managers at the time, Alex Ferguson and Kevin Keegan, and I was very close to going to United.
“In fact I’d chosen a house I was going to buy and then I thought ‘you know what, I’m going to go back home’.
“I left home in 1985 to go to Southampton to start my career.
“It had been 10 or 11 years and I thought ‘you know what, I’m going to go back home’.
“It meant that much to me and I wanted to have some great years at Newcastle where I could still play and not go back in my thirties and not see the best of me.
“It was the best decision I ever made, I know I would have won more trophies at United but the ten years I had there were unbelievably special, it was everything I hoped and wanted and more.”

    EDS TURNED
Manchester United are reportedly ‘losing the battle’ to keep Edinson Cavani this summer.
The Uruguayan is believed to be keen on returning to South America.
And The Mirror claims the Red Devils are ‘losing the battle’ to persuade him to stay with the hitman ‘wanting to sign for Argentine club Boca Juniors’ in June.
    ZLAT FEAR
Former Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been put under investigation by Uefa – and it could cost him his place at Euro 2020.
Uefa disciplinary chiefs announced the former inquiry into the Swedish superstar’s links with a betting company.
Ibrahimovic is part-owner of Malta-based Bethard, seemingly in direct contravention of both Uefa and Fifa regulations.
It leaves the AC Milan and Sweden star facing a massive fine and potential ban – which may spell the end of his chances of appearing at this summer’s Euro.
Fifa’s ethics code, which is shared by Uefa, prevents players or others in football from having “any interests, either directly or indirectly” in companies that “promote, arrange or conduct betting”.
The maximum penalty is a three YEAR ban and fine of £85,000.

    RUUD AWAKENING
A rare collector’s item is Ruud van Nistelrooy’s goal from outside the area against Charlton.

    DEVILS CURSE
Manchester United will have a lot of problems next season unless they spend big, according to Paul Ince.
He told Sky Sports: “They are not as far off as we thought two years ago. They are progressing gradually.
“But on that Leeds performance they are a long way off, they have been so inconsistent this season it is hard to judge.
“They need money, they need a striker. It looks like Cavani is going to Boca Juniors. They are going have a lot of issues next season.”
    EURO HAAL
Erling Haaland will most likely leave Dortmund this summer if they miss out on Champions League football, reports say.
Chelsea and Manchester United are among the European giants trailing his signature this summer.
Haaland has a £65m release clause next summer if he stays put for another campaign.
But Bild report that Haaland will definitely be on the move this year if his club miss out on the Champions League.
Dortmund are fifth in the Bundesliga, a point behind Frankfurt with three games to play.

    TORR BLIMEY
Villarreal star Pau Torres admits he’s ‘proud’ to be linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

    FINAL PUSH
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a chance to banish his semi-final hoodoo when Utd face Roma in the Europa League last-four on Thursday.

    COAST IS CLEAR
Premier League Covid testers have recorded their first clear week this season.
And League bosses believe they are proving the game is close to winning the battle against the virus.
Over the past week, two rounds of testing, comprising 2,787 samples of players and staff across the 20 clubs, found no positives.
Just over half of those – 1,472 – took place between Monday and Thursday, with a further 1,315 samples taken between Friday and Sunday.

    BAILLY CONTRACT CONFIRMED
Eric Bailly has signed a new deal at Manchester United until 2024 with the option of a further year.

“And that’s why I made this decision to stay at the club.”

    BEL TOLLS
Manchester United are reportedly in competition with Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
The 27-year-old has no shortage of admirers, with the player to potentially be sold in the summer with his contract to expire in 2022.
Belotti has once again impressed for the Turin outfit this term – chipping in with 12 goals and six assists in 29 Serie A games.
Since joining the Maroons from Palermo in 2015, the Italy international has banged in a staggering 104 goals in 222 outings.
And with the player unlikely to sign a new deal with Torino, Tuttosport have claimed a number of teams are vying to secure his services.
They state that the Red Devils are keen on the centre-forward as a possible replacement for Edinson Cavani.
However the Italian news outlet also adds that both Liverpool and Spurs are weighing up an offer.

    FANDEMONIUM
Five Premier League clubs are included in the top ten teams that boast the biggest social media following in world football.
Nine of the sides also feature in the top ten most valuable clubs, where Barcelona pipped their Spanish rivals Real Madrid to first spot.

And once again it is the two LaLiga giants that have the most followers in figures obtained by Goal.
The news outlet calculated the data by combining the club’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok followers.
And Real and Barca are in a league of their own with no other side coming close to the pair.
Los Blancos boast over a whopping 252million followers across the major platforms, with the Blaugrana having just under two million fewer.
Manchester United are third on the list with over 142million followers – over 100million less than Ronald Koeman’s men.
    CAN’T AFFORD JU
Juventus face having to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain if they miss out on the Champions League.
That is according to reports in Italy which doubt the Bianconeri’s ability to support the superstar’s huge wages from the Europa League.
The weekend’s draw with Fiorentina left fourth-placed Juve hanging onto Serie A’s final Champions League spot and three points clear of Napoli.
Gennaro Gattuso’s side boast a game in hand, against Torino on Monday evening, and a more favourable run-in.
Juventus were already struggling financially amid the coronavirus pandemic, reportedly hastening their push for a European Super League.
But missing out on a top-four finish would hit the club’s coffers hard at the worst possible time.
According to Tuttosport, Ronaldo costs the Old Lady a gross £1million-a-week in wages.

The Manchester Evening News reports the centre-back has been convinced to sign on the dotted line by the promise of more game time next season.
Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips revealed the key to keeping Bruno Fernandes in the 0-0 draw at Elland Road.
The England star lifted the lid on his stringent man-marking of the Portuguese talisman.
