Man Utd ‘willing to consider transfer bids for Martial and Van de Beek’ as Solskjaer plans summer rebuild

MANCHESTER UNITED could offload Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek this summer, according to reports.Van de Beek has failed to establish himself in the first team and made just four league starts following his £39million move from Ajax last summer.
Donny van de Beek could leave this summer after failing to make his mark on the first team
Manchester United are also open to offers for Anthony Martial
But according to ESPN the Netherlands midfielder is keen to fight for his place at Old Trafford.
Martial is another who could leave this summer, with the report claiming United will consider realistic offers for the pair.
The club has responded to inquiries for the players stating “every player has a realistic evaluation”.
That means other fringe players like Diogo Dalot and Andreas Pereira could both leave, with the pair both spending last season on loan in Serie A.
And United are yet to make a decision on the future of Jesse Lingard, after he enjoyed a successful loan spell at West Ham in the second half of last season, scoring nine goals.
The Hammers are still keen on Lingard but may have to wait until the Jadon Sancho transfer is finalised.
Alex Tuanzebe is another who could leave on loan, with several Premier League clubs reportedly chasing the defender.
Other young players such as Amad Diallo, James Garner, Shola Shoretire, Anthony Elanga and Hannibal Mejbri may also depart, but a decision will be made closer to the start of the season.
BETTING SPECIAL: GET ENGLAND TO BEAT GERMANY AT 14/1

United’s clearout could pave the way for Sancho to arrive.
Personal terms have been agreed and the Red Devils will complete the deal once they offer the extra £8.5m Borrusia Dortmund are looking for.
Sancho’s arrival means Martial’s place could be under threat, which may be why the club is open to offers for the Frenchman.

Lewandowski was named as Fifa’s The Best Player for 2020 after a stunning year for Bayern Munich and Poland, scoring 59 goals in 53 games.
And speaking to France Football last year, the 32-year-old said: “After my second year in Dortmund, I had a conversation with Sir Alex Ferguson.
“He wanted me to come to Manchester.
“I was very interested. I can even say I was ready. But Dortmund didn’t want to let me go.
“It didn’t upset me more than that because things were going well with Borussia.”
In the end Fergie turned to Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie to fill the striker’s berth, which didn’t work out too badly.
Lewandowski left Dortmund for Bayern in 2014 on a free transfer.
And in 2019-20 was part of their treble-winning team, finishing top scorer in the Champions League, the Bundesliga and the German Cup.
After winning the Fifa award, Lewandowski said: “I feel fantastic and very proud and happy.

    “It’s an incredible feeling, really.

“If you win such an award and share that title with Messi and Ronaldo, that is unbelievable and it means so much to me.
“A long time ago, I remember I was longing for something like this and now I can win such an award.
“This really means, regardless of where you come form, all that matters is what you put into it.
“For the entire world this year was difficult, the greatest highlight was winning the Champions League final – such a special day and evening, that was an incredible feeling.
“That was a great moment… then we won the cup and got every title we could possibly win.
“We have a great coach, great team and we all work towards one goal.”

But the clubs remain apart in terms of valuation for the 21-year-old England international.
Manchester Evening News report that United are £8.5million shy of Dortmund’s valuation.
The report states that Dortmund are believed to want £6m more up front and £2.5m in add-ons on top of what United are currently offering.
Man Utd have made a £72m bid to land Sancho this summer, and are prepared to go up to £80m.
Personal terms based on a five-year deal worth £350,000-a-week have already been agreed.
The Red Devils have been after Sancho for a while and thought they had their man last summer.
But they refused to meet Dortmund’s asking price of £110m back then.
Sancho has thrived at Dortmund after spending his youth career with Watford and then Manchester City.

Man Utd star Jesse Lingard wanted by West Ham on permanent transfer but £77m Jadon Sancho deal holding up talks progress

WEST HAM will continue their pursuit of Jesse Lingard but may have to wait until Jadon Sancho’s future is resolved, according to reports. The England international reignited his career with the Hammers during a hugely impressive loan stint last season.

Lingard, 28, headed to London in January and scored nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances.
Boss David Moyes is eager to land him permanently but United are continuing to play hardball.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering making him part of his squad next season following his string of terrific performances.
That is despite Lingard having just a year left on his contract.
According to the Express, West Ham are happy to bide their time to see if the Red Devils will consider letting him leave.
United are determined to sign winger Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £77million and are prepared to offer him £350,000-a-week.
Sancho’s arrival is likely to push Lingard down the pecking order at United and tempt the club into cashing in.

The forward, who missed out on England’s Euros squad, is eager to join a club that will offer him first-team football.
He told Sky Sports: “Regular football is the most important thing for me.
“After going on loan and getting a good run in the team, you started to see the real me, with the goals and the assists.
“I’ve never doubted my ability, I’ve always believed in myself. I spoke to the manager [Solskjaer] in pre-season and said, ‘I need game time’.
“He said, ‘We can discuss it December time’, and we spoke again and he agreed to let me go on loan.”

Arsenal are also interested but boss Mikel Arteta has set his sights on Brighton’s Ben White.
Thomas Tuchel is eager to land a new central defender this summer with Thiago Silva turning 37 in September.
Kounde remains top of his shortlist and ABC Sevilla write how the Blues have made their move.
Sevilla won’t let their key asset leave on the cheap having slapped a £55million price-tag on his head.
The French international is currently representing his country at Euro 2020 and played the full 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Portugal.
He was quizzed on his future before the tournament where he admitted a move to a bigger club would entice him.
Kounde said: “I’m at a great club right now, but obviously I would like to evolve into a bigger team.
“We will see what the future holds, but it is something that is in my head.”

Kounde has enjoyed a stellar two years at Sevilla, helping them win the Europa League in 2019-20 and qualify for the Champions League this term.
Chelsea could also be boosted in their attempts to sign Kounde by Man United’s desire to land Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils have prioritised signing the Real Madrid defender who has just one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu.

MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on the transfer of top target Jadon Sancho this summer, and have tabled an opening £72m bid.Personal terms based on a five-year deal worth £350,000-a-week have already been agreed.
But he is not set to wear the famous number 7 shirt if he signs, as it is already held by Edinson Cavani.

    MORE FROM RASHFORD
And Rashford admits he has been unable to produce his best form in recent months.
He said: “Obviously I am not performing at my best, and what I know I can perform to.
“Whatever that is down to, it doesn’t really matter because it has been going on since early on in the season.
“I managed to get through the season with United. I think I had 36 goal involvements so I can’t look back at the year and say ‘mmm, I should have taken time off to do this and do that.’
“I just want to be available for every game.”
    RASH DECISION
Marcus Rashford could face shoulder surgery after the Euros, making him a doubt for the start of Manchester United’s Premier League campaign.
Rashford has played through pain to ensure his place in England’s squad for the Euros.
And asked whether he needed an operation, Man Utd ace Rashford, 23, said: “I have to decide after – it’s either an operation or I don’t get an operation on my shoulder.
“I’m not 100 per cent sure if I need it yet. I’ll finish strongly here and like I said I’ve got a few weeks off to just relax and decide what I’m going to do.
“The doctors have not said how long I’d be out for.
“The reason I don’t know is that when the season was going, and before I came here (with England), I knew there was no chance I was going to be getting the operation so I did not know how long the operation would put me out for.
“I am fully concentrated on here (England). When the tournament is finished then I will ask the question.
“But to get to this stage where I am now, it was a massive aim of mine back at the beginning of the season. I’m prepared mentally and physically for games.”

    UP FOR THE CUP
Manchester United’s U21s have found out their fates for the Papa John’s Trophy next season.
The Young Red Devils will be up against Bradford City, Lincoln City and defending champions Sunderland in Group F of the Northern Section.

    PUT A FOOT RON
Cristiano Ronaldo was subjected to ‘insults and beatings’ from Arsenal when the former Manchester United star tried tricks.
That is the revelation by ex-Arsenal attacker Robert Pires on a harsh start to life in England for Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s introduction to English football was greeted with plenty of harsh challenges and Pires admitted opposing players did not appreciate the star’s showboating.
Pires told Record: “Cristiano made feints and the English didn’t like it. It was just a beating.
“You can’t play like that against the English and you couldn’t do that at Highbury, Arsenal’s home. It was just insults and beatings.
“At first he didn’t stand it very well, it was complicated for him. Football in England is completely different.”

Axel Tuanzebe is reportedly set for another loan move away from Manchester United.
The centre-back fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford last season, in which he made 18 appearances for the Red Devils.
And according to the Manchester Evening News, a number of teams have expressed an interest in signing the 23-year-old.
Premier League and foreign clubs are said to be keen on snapping up the former England Under-21 international.
Tuanzebe is said to have grown frustrated with his lack of first-team football and believes he deserves more ‘recognition’ for his efforts.

    NO MOUR TROUBLE
Jose Mourinho has held talks with Henrikh Mkhitaryan since joining Roma to repair his relationship with midfielder, according to reports.
And the pair have reportedly cleared the air after falling out at Manchester United, with Mkhitaryan starting just 26 league games in 18 months under Mourinho.
Mkhitaryan, 32, even agreed a new one-year deal with the Serie A club at the beginning of the month.
He is happy to play under the Portuguese, and was convinced to stay after the pair held a meeting, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The report claims the duo have even joked with each other about their time at Old Trafford, and it is now firmly behind them.
    ROO-UNION
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney will be reunited with former teammates next season after his Derby side were drawn against the Class of 92’s Salford City in the Carabao Cup.
Former Red Devils Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Nicky Butt all own shares in the League Two outfit.
And Salford will travel to Pride Park in the first round of the Carabao Cup after being drawn against Championship outfit Derby.

    MIK TAKER
Former Man Utd defender Mikael Silvestre has urged England boss Gareth Southgate to be more adventurous at Euro 2020.
He told Ladbrokes: “I think Gareth Southgate could be more adventurous in midfield, rather than playing two defensive midfielders, and maybe he’s just being cautious.
“There are 70 million managers in England watching from home, and even more around the world, and so it’s sometimes easy for us to talk about who should be playing.
“England have to step things up a gear moving forward in the tournament now.
“We’ve seen players like Harry Kane struggling, but you can’t put all of the responsibility on him.”
    WHERE THERE’S A WIL
Jack Wilshere has named his England XI to play Germany in response to Manchester United legend Gary Neville picking his team.
The ITV pundit wanted to see Wilshere’s team after the former Arsenal midfielder criticised his omission of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

    TOP FRIENDS
Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema shared a heartwarming chat at half-time of their Euro 2020 encounter.
The former Real Madrid pals formed two-thirds of the feared BBC triumvirate at the Bernabeu, alongside Gareth Bale.
Therefore, their Group F meeting on Wednesday was a personal reunion inside a hugely-anticipated Euros clash.
At half-time and with the score one apiece, the forwards embraced and smiled as they shared a brief chat.
They then swapped shirts as they entered the tunnel in Budapest, continuing the discussion towards the dressing rooms.

South Korean star Park Ji-sung signed for Man Utd on this day.
The 40-year-old scored 27 goals in 205 games for the Red Devils between 2005-2012.

    CASE FOR DEFENCE
Man Utd captain Harry Maguire has defended England’s defensive march to the Euro 2020 knockout stage – claiming they are playing the football needed to win tournaments.
Maguire said: “I know everyone wants to play well and create numerous chances but teams are well drilled and organised.
“It’s not all perfect, we can improve but you can’t argue with seven points from three games.
“Can we play better? Of course we can. Will we improve? We will do everything we can to improve.
“The fundamentals are there and now we’ve got to tidy up in every part of our game when we’re on the ball and there is a little bit more we can get out of each other and push each other.
“If we are going to progress in this tournament we’re going to have to do that.”
    TAKING THE MIK
Mikael Silvestre has explained why he joined Arsenal over Manchester City in 2008 when he left Manchester United.
Speaking to Ladbrokes, he said: “At the time, Arsenal were in a different dimension to Manchester City.
“So when it came to leaving Manchester United, although I was sad to leave, it was always going to be Arsenal I chose.
“Even Mark Hughes, manager of City at the time, understood when I spoke with him about my decision. He said he’d have done the same himself if he was me.
“Some players stay at the same club for their whole career, but I’ve played in a few different countries now and I’m always following how my former teams have got on.
“I was at Arsenal for two seasons and I enjoyed my time there.”
    SAN STORM
Man Utd have reportedly told Borussia Dortmund they are willing to pay £73m for Jadon Sancho plus add-ons.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made signing the England international his priority after failing to secure his services last summer.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Manchester United officially told BVB they’re prepared to pay €85m for Sancho.
“Add-ons included as part of the negotiation ‘to reach an agreement soon’. BVB still asking for €95m guaranteed.
“Clubs in talks about add-ons structure. Jadon made it clear: he wants Man Utd.”
    ROY OF THE ROVERS
Man United legend Roy Keane revealed he drank ‘six or seven’ pints the night before his Nottingham Forest debut almost thirty years ago.
Keane said: “I went over pre-season and was obviously doing a lot of training with the reserves.
“Forest had played their first league game at home on the Saturday against QPR and I went to watch it, and I was on the bench for the reserves on the Monday night.
“I got on for the last ten minutes and the first-team were playing Liverpool on the Tuesday night.
“Went out that night with the players, as you do after a reserve match, I didn’t drink too much – maybe six, seven pints after the game. Came in on the Tuesday and was told ‘get dressed up’.”
    PAUL OF DUTY
Former Man Utd defender Mikael Silvestre has spoke of his frustration at Paul Pogba’s lack of consistency.
Speaking to Ladbrokes, the 43-year-old said: “The problem with Paul Pogba is the consistency – or lack of.
“When he’s at the top of this game, his level is something else, but he finds it difficult to repeat that game after game. I look at it this way; he’s a world-class player, he’s got world-class attributes for sure.
“The question is, can he repeat it every three days? I’m not sure he can. He hasn’t done it for Man United, I’m not sure he can do it for France either.
“I’m always happy to see him on the pitch for club or country, because he’s been unlucky with injuries. The frustrating part is that we haven’t seen him reach his levels week-in, week-out.
“I don’t know whether it’s a psychological thing or a physical thing. I’m a Man United supporter and a France supporter, so I’m always hoping that whoever he represents, we see the best of him, because we saw against Germany just how much he can give to the team.”
    BODES WELL
Danny Welbeck has signed on for another year at Brighton.
The ex-Arsenal and Manchester United ace, 30, was a hit at the Amex last term after joining as a free agent on a one-year deal from relegated Watford.
He played a key role in the Seagulls beating the drop, scoring six goals and grabbing three assists in 24 league appearances.
Welbeck said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far – happiness is key. Being at a club where I am really enjoying playing my football, playing under the manager, his style of play and the good people around the club, it just feels right.
“I’ve got the foundation now, that understanding of the group. You come to a new club and you’re learning about how things work, where you can fit in and what you need do to impact games.
“We developed that towards the back end of the season and I want to be pushing on and giving much, much more.
“It’s important to feel appreciated and feel settled. Once you’re happy you can focus on doing your work, making sure you’re ready for training and games. Everything builds from there and it’s a good platform to start.”
    SACRE BLEU
Man Utd legend Cristiano Ronaldo may have equalled Ali Daei’s international record… but French publication L’Equipe were still far from impressed.
The Portugal superstar scored twice from the spot in a hugely entertaining 2-2 draw with rivals France.
It took his international tally to 109 – meaning he is just one goal away from beating Iranian legend Daei’s all-time feat.
Ronaldo is also now surging ahead in the race for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot with five from his opening three matches.
Despite his achievements, L’Equipe still handed Ronaldo a measly six in their notoriously tough player ratings.
The publication are renowned for their brutal rating system with a perfect 10 rating being dished out just 12 times.

    TU STEP
Aex Tuanzebe is reportedly set for another loan move away from Manchester United.
The former Aston Villa loanee spent the majority of the 2020/21 season playing second fiddle to Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
    NIK OF TIME
Man Utd face a challenge from West Ham to sign Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.
The Serbian defender has been on the radar of Old Trafford scouts for a number of seasons now.
The 23-year-old is out of contract in 2022 and it is understood he will not sign a new deal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a new United centre-back this summer, in search of a long-term partner for Harry Maguire.
A number of top sides are showing interest in Milenkovic, with Chelsea believed to be keen.
Now Sky Italia are claiming West Ham are also interested in the centre-half, and they are ‘ready to step up’ their pursuit to sign Milenkovic.

    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS
SunSport understands Man United are closing in on an £80million deal to buy Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
The Old Trafford club made a £72m bid yesterday but they are prepared to go to £80m to get their man.
Personal terms  based on a five-year deal worth £350,000-a-week have already been agreed.
United also spoke to Erling Haaland before the Euros, but the Dortmund striker has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are reportedly ready to sell Raphael Varane after the Man United target asked for a new challenge.
A summer transfer is said to be the 28-year-old’s desire following a decade at the Bernabeu.
Varane is out of contract in a year’s time and Los Blancos do not want to lose him on a free while battling the pandemic financial crisis.
According to The Athletic, a bid as little as £40million could persuade Real to sell up after talks with the player’s representatives.
Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo was subjected to ‘insults and beatings’ from Arsenal when the former Man United star tried tricks.
Former Gunner Robert Pires told Record: “Cristiano made feints and the English didn’t like it. It was just a beating.
“You can’t play like that against the English and you couldn’t do that at Highbury, Arsenal’s home. It was just insults and beatings.
“At first he didn’t stand it very well, it was complicated for him. Football in England is completely different.”

“Can we play better? Of course we can. Will we improve? We will do everything we can to improve.

    LONG-TERM FUTURE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Donny van de Beek has a future at Man Utd.
But the Dutch international is constantly being linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Should van de Beek leave, it would see him leave the English giants after just one season.
One place van de Beek is being linked with a move to is Italy.
But FCInterNews say Inter Milan are unlikely to make an approach for the player, ruling them out.

    ‘I THOUGHT HE DID FANTASTIC’
Former England striker Emile Heskey praised Man Utd captain Harry Maguire for his performance against the Czech Republic last night.
Maguire completed his first 90 minutes of football since early May, and he helped England pick up another clean sheet.
Speaking on the official England podcast, Heskey said: “I thought he did really well, considering I don’t think he’s had loads of training sessions.
“I thought he did fantastic. Controlled it, bossed it in there.”

The Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer in a bid to fire themselves back into European contention.

    MOURINHO’S MAGUIRE ASSESSMENT
Former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho assessed Harry Maguire’s return to football.
He said: “I keep saying when you have an option to take 26 players, you have to risk, gamble and take an injured player if the player deserves that. Maguire is one of those players.
“He was confident, he was stable, he was intelligent, read the game well, and has a good partnership with [John] Stones.
“[Tyrone] Mings is doing a fantastic job, you could feel he was happy to come in for 10 or 15 minutes, he is a team player.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the next game is against Germany, the way they play with three at the back – I wouldn’t be surprised if England went with Stones, Maguire and Mings at the back.”
    PSG PLOT MOVE FOR VARANE
PSG are plotting a move for Man Utd target Raphael Varane, according to reports.
Spanish outlet MARCA are reporting that Varane is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer.
And there will be serious competition for the four-time Champions League winner’s signature.
United have already seen a £50million bid turned down for the Frenchman.
But Madrid want closer to £80m.
And now PSG have enquired about bringing the French international back to his home nation.
    TORRES ON FUTURE
Man Utd target Pau Torres was asked about his future, but he insisted that he has a contract with Villarreal.

“Now I’m focused on the Euros. Then the Super Cup and nice things will come, so I’m totally calm.”
But there is a growing belief that Man Utd could get a deal done for around £51million.
