      The report adds that United have no leapt into pole position, ahead of Arsenal, to sign £35million-rated Neves following an intervention from Portugal team-mate Bruno Fernandes.
      Alex Crook said: “Neves is another player Mikel Arteta has been monitoring very closely, but the trail seems to have gone cold there over a move to Arsenal.

      “Wolves have their price tag, £35m, and they’re willing to do business to try and generate some funds for their new manager Bruno Lage.
      “Liverpool were mentioned to me, but there’s definite interest from Manchester United.
      “Ruben Neves is a Portuguese team-mate of Bruno Fernandes and he is actively trying to push Neves towards Old Trafford.
      “They do want another midfielder regardless of Paul Pogba’s future at the club.”
      Neves, 24, has been at Molineux for four seasons after a £15m move from Porto, leading them to Premier League promotion in his debut campaign and then shining in the top division.
      SunSport revealed earlier this month that the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, remains in talks with Arsenal over a possible deal.

      The Gunners are looking to replace Granit Xhaka, who is wanted by Roma, but are struggling to match Wolves’ £35m price tag.
      Neves, who has three years left on his contract at the Molineux, is currently on holiday following his Euro 2020 exploits with Portugal.
      He could be tasked with replacing Pogba at Old Trafford following reports that the Frenchman is discussing personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain.

      And the club have released a clip of the 20-year-old full-back diving around saving shots as he attempted to join the goalkeepers’ union.
      The fight for the Old Trafford No1 jersey is already hotting up ahead of the new campaign.
      David De Gea will cut short his holidays this week in a desperate bid to regain his place in the starting XI.
      The Spaniard ended last season behind Dean Henderson in the battle to be Solskjaer’s first-choice keeper.

      United are understood to be looking for more than £2million to let another club borrow the versatile full-back.
      Saints have been keen on the 20-year-old since last summer but see that price as too much.

      It means a deal is looking increasingly unlikely unless United reduce their demands.
      The youngster has made 51 appearances for United in all competitions since making his professional debut against Rochdale in the League Cup in September 2019.
      Norwich and Newcastle have also shown interest in loaning Williams.

      Lingard, 28, who narrowly missed out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 England squad, enjoyed an impressive spell boosting West Ham’s attack from January to June this year.
      The Cheshire-born forward netted nine goals and provided five assists in 16 Prem appearances for David Moyes’ Hammers. 
      And his efforts helped the team finish sixth in the top-flight last term and qualify for the Europa League. 
      It has now emerged that his stunning form was thanks in some part to the work of analyst Alexiadis Alexandros.
      Lingard shared a picture of him alongside Alexandros and thanked him publicly for his contribution.
      He wrote: “Thank you @alexiadis_alexandros for the analysis last year and congratulations on getting your new coaching role fully deserved.
      “Now lets get ready for the new season.”
      The 29-cap Three Lions international also revealed the targets he set himself in East London.
      Under ‘application’, phrases such as ‘positive attitude’, ‘confidence’ and ‘belief’ are scrawled in pen.

      The Hammers’ fixtures were also listed with desired outcomes including ‘shots’, ‘goals’, ‘assists’, ‘take-ons’ and ‘man-of-the-match’ also written down.
      As well as the targets, Lingard’s motivational board also featured the words ‘dynamic’, ‘intensity’ and ‘leadership’.
      And phrases encouraging him to ‘be yourself’ and be a ‘big game player’ were also noted.

      The 26-year-old’s agent, Jorg Neubauer, was recently forced to retire and Neubauer’s wife has taken charge instead along with Bundesliga heavyweight agent Thomas Kroth.
      However, Sport Bild claims Goretzka’s camp are ‘irritated’ that contract talks have not yet resumed over an improved extension.
      And they state United have tabled a ‘concrete offer’ to the ace for him to join them when he becomes a free agent in June.
      The Red Devils are not actively pursuing a new central midfielder at the moment.
      But with Paul Pogba’s future still uncertain, it appears Goretzka could be targeted as his replacement with a reported £200k-a-week package.
      Bayern are allegedly determined not to lose the player.
      But interest is high with several Premier League clubs monitoring the situation.

      And the England international could even sign new contract despite appear destined to leave the club just six months ago.

      If they can fend off the reported interest from the Blues, United look set to hand over a £50million fee for the centre-back who has just one year left on his Bernabeu contract.
      And asked for his view on the potential deal, Solskjaer could not conceal a smile.
      Laughing, he said: “Varane? I only speak about players when we sign them.”
      Spanish giants Real initially wanted £60m for Varane but have to sell now to get a fee having lost Sergio Ramos to Paris Saint-Germain on a free.
      Varane’s representatives are understood to have negotiated terms over a five-year deal.
      Los Blancos’ wage bill is reportedly set to be slashed by more than a third which has thrown massive doubt over the Frenchman’s future at the club.
