And Fabrizio Romano claims United will then look to secure the long-term future of talisman Fernandes after opening initial contract talks in May.
The Portuguese playmaker still has four years left on his current deal.
But United want to hand Fernandes a bumper pay rise to thank him for his incredible contribution over the past 18 months.
The ace only moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for £47million.
But Fernandes has already clocked up 26 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League during that time.
United are now eager to ensure his head isn’t turned by giving him the wage he deserves.
However, the Red Devils are sure to continue scouring the market for new signings.
Indeed, reports claim United are close to a £43m deal for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

The French centre-back’s Bernabeu contract expires next year, and United look set to snap him up for a bargain price.
However, a stunning Old Trafford return for Cristiano Ronaldo appears unlikely.
Juventus claim he has not demanded a transfer exit, contrary to reports.
And they are also keen for him to stay and see out the final year of his contract in Italy.

Man Utd ‘close in’ on Raphael Varane transfer with Solskjaer confident of landing Real Madrid ace in cut-price £43m deal

The report adds that Varane is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top defensive target and Madrid are prepared to negotiate a realistic fee for the 28-year-old.
United are already said to have held “some discussions” for the centre-back – whose contract at the Bernabeu is due to expire in June 2022.

And the club’s efforts to sign Varane have stepped up following France’s surprise round-of-16 exit at Euro 2020 against Switzerland.
United are reportedly confident that a deal can be done for around £43m – a sharp decrease from Madrid’s initial £60m valuation.
French international Varane joined the Spanish giants from Lens way back in 2011 for just £8.5million.
It has been claimed that the four-time Champions League winner is keen on linking up with the Red Devils.
Yet it remains to be seen whether Madrid will allow Varane to leave following Sergio Ramos’ exit this summer.
Los Blancos have already secured the arrival of David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich and further player salaes would be needed to fund Carlo Ancelotti’s rebuild.

Madrid have already been linked with moves for Leicester star Wesley Fofana and Villarreal’s defender Pau Torres to replace Varane.
Europa League winner Torres was previously considered by United as an alternative target to partner Harry Maguire next season.
The Old Trafford outfit completed their first major piece of business today by signing Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho for £73m.

David De Gea continues to top the list, raking in £375,000 per week – totalling £19.5million a year.
But Sancho would slide in ahead of Paul Pogba, with the Frenchman earning £290,000 per week.
Anthony Martial (£250k), Edinson Cavani (£210k) and Marcus Rashford (£200k) are the others who break the £200,000-a-week barrier.
Captain Harry Maguire pockets £190,000 per week while two-time United player-of-the-year Bruno Fernandes gets £180,000.
In fact, 14 first-team players all earn £100,000 or more per week, with the likes of Luke Shaw (£150k) and Fred (120k) next on the list.
Sancho meanwhile is likely to be in direct competition with fellow England international Mason Greenwood on the right wing.

United academy graduate Greenwood was rewarded for his continued development with improved £75k-a-week terms back in February.
As of time of publishing, Juan Mata’s £160k terms are off the wage bill but the Spaniard remains in talks over a new deal at Old Trafford.
But United are back paying Jesse Lingard £75,000 following the midfielder’s return from his loan at West Ham.

    ON THE PAUL
Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has slammed Paul Pogba following France’s Euro 2020 exit as he claimed he ‘lost the plot’ against Switzerland.
The World Cup champions crashed out at the last-16 stage after losing on penalties against Vladimir Petkovic’s men having squandered a two-goal lead.
Pogba thought he had banged in the winner for Les Bleus after his curling strike from distance nestled into the top right corner to put his side 3-1 up.
But a lapse in concentration moments later allowed Haris Seferovic to pull one back, before Mario Gavranovic fired in a dramatic stoppage time equaliser.
Petit has hit out at his compatriots for their early exit, as he told Paddy Power: “There was one incident – Pogba lost the ball for the second Swiss goal – and France collapsed.
“We lost everything. Concentration, team spirit, desire – and the tie. Worst of all, we started fighting on the pitch between ourselves. There was a big clash between Rabiot and Pogba, who lost the plot, after the second Swiss goal and from then on we had no control, no confidence.”

    NAL AND VOID
Juventus insist Cristiano Ronaldo has not asked to leave this summer, dealing a blow to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Ronaldo, 36, has been strongly linked with a Turin exit three years after joining from Real Madrid.
Former club Man Utd have been linked and French outfit PSG are also thought to be interested as they look to reclaim their Ligue 1 crown from Lille.
And it’s believed Ronaldo is available for just £25m should there be any serious bids. However, Juventus chief Federico Cherubini claims he is ‘happy’ with Ronnie’s presence at the club.
Cherubini said: “We’ve currently received no signal from Ronaldo to leave the club this summer.
“Same from our side. We’re happy to have Cristiano back with us once the new season will start.”

    PEP’S JADON JACKPOT
Manchester City will scoop £10million from Jadon Sancho’s £73m move to neighbours United.
Etihad chiefs inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause when Borussia Dortmund signed him in 2017.
And although City were hoping the Bundesliga giants would hold on for nearer their original £120m asking price, Sancho’s valuation has steadily dipped over the past 12 months.
Dortmund and the Red Devils each confirmed on Thursday that United’s third offer for the 21-year-old England winger had been accepted.

    JAY’S PAY DAY
JadonSancho is to become Manchester United’s second-highest earner.
The England winger, 21, has agreed a mega transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
The two clubs are have agreed the £73million transfer fee but, as revealed by SunSport, personal terms are already sorted.
Sancho will pen a five-year deal at Old Trafford worth £91million – or £350,000 per week.

    CALL FOR CAL
Manchester United want to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.
The Red Devils are on the hunt for a new striker as a long-term No9 replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
And they have identified the Everton front man as the ideal candidate.
Calvert-Lewin, 24, enjoyed the best season of his career in 2020-21 with 21 goals in 39 appearances to be the Toffees’ crowned player of the year.
That goal return tied him level with his England team-mate Marcus Rashford and four more than Edinson Cavani.
Mason Greenwood grabbed 12 while Anthony Martial managed seven in a difficult campaign but Bruno Fernandes top scored with 28.

    RIO ON SANCHO
Rio Ferdinand highlighted the strengths Sancho brings to Man Utd.
Speaking on his official YouTube channel Ferdinand said: “On the right hand side, and the left hand side, we haven’t got a winger who goes on the outside.
“Goes on the outside and crosses the ball. That’s what you need.
“He can play right-wing, left-wing, he can go both ways, he plays with both feet. But on that right wing, as well as Mason [Greenwood] has done, and I’m a massive Mason Greenwood fan, out there having a winger.
“This is Man United, always associated with wingers. Always have done over the years.
“Any of our most successful times there’s been wide players who can go on the outside and cross the ball.
“[Mason] wants goals, which is a good element, a good aspect, but Jadon gives you both options and for a full-back – terrible news.
“The element of going on the outside, beating the full-back and crossing it and then the Mason Greenwood’s, the Cavani’s, the Rashford’s coming in from the other side, we should be getting more goals from those scenarios this season.
“He will add to the attacking variety we have in a red shirt.”
    JAD ENOUGH

But the duo will be broken up, at least for now, with Sancho set to light it up Old Trafford.
Replying to Fabrizio Romano’s confirmation of the deal being done, Alf-Inge replied: “F***. 🐝 But all the best @Sanchooo10.

The Italian giants finally lost their grip on the Serie A title to Juventus.
And with Ronnie having worked under three different bosses in as many years, it’s reckoned he is looking for a fresh start.
Former club Man United have been linked with a stunning transfer this summer.
That’s despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer splashing out £73million on Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho today.

The two clubs are have agreed the £73million transfer fee but, as revealed by SunSport, personal terms are already sorted.
Sancho will pen a five-year deal at Old Trafford worth £91million – or £350,000 per week.
That will see his wages more than trebled from the £100,000-per-week deal he is on at Dortmund.
And it will also see him among the very best-paid players in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
David De Gea remains the No1 – definitely on the wage bill and potentially between the sticks.
The Spaniard gets a whopping £375,000 per week at Old Trafford.
But Sancho looks set to jump ahead of the rest of the squad.
That means Paul Pogba would drop to third on the list with the Frenchman earning £290,000 per week.

Anthony Martial (£250k), Edinson Cavani (£210k) and Marcus Rashford (£200k) are the others who break the £200,000 barrier.
Captain Harry Maguire pockets £190,000 per week while two-time United player-of-the-year Bruno Fernandes gets £180,000.
Sancho is likely to be in direct competition with fellow England international Mason Greenwood on the right wing.
But there is no comparison between the pair’s potential pay cheques, with the Red Devils academy graduate set to earn just a tenth of Sancho’s salary on £35,000 per week.
Sancho is currently on international duty with England.
But he is enduring a tough time at Euro 2020, playing just six minutes of football as a late substitute against Czech Republic.
The winger, though, insists he is fully focused on the Three Lions despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future and reportedly telling team-mates he will be making the switch to Old Trafford.
He said: “I’m cool about it. There’s always going to be speculation, especially when you do well. It’s just how you handle that on the pitch.
“You’ve got to keep doing what you’re doing, if you keep on doing that then I’m sure that won’t be a problem.

And as revealed by SunSport, Real Madrid could also swoop for the former Sheffield United striker as Carlo Ancelotti eyes a £50million reunion.
Calvert-Lewin is currently on international duty with the Three Lions at Euro 2020.
He came on as an 89th-minute sub in the opener against Croatia but has not featured since, and did not even make the bench for the Germany win.

Another player who has struggled for game time at the tournament is Jadon Sancho – but the pair could end up as team-mates at club level next season.
United are on the brink of completing a transfer for the Borussia Dortmund winger for £73m plus add-ons.
New Everton manager Rafa Benitez faces a tough task in his first summer at Goodison Park.
Not only is he trying to win over the fanbase after his ‘small club’ insult, the Spaniard risks seeing his squad torn apart – with 13 players already released as free agents.
As well as Calvert-Lewin’s potential exit, the club look certain to lose Colombian superstar James Rodriguez with AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Napoli keen.
And the future of Brazilian attacker Richarlison is also in doubt following Ancelotti’s shock departure.

However, the England international wants to hear what options he has away from East London this summer.
Further reports add the money on offer would still see Rice paid less than Andriy Yarmolenko and what Javier Hernandez was on while he could earn significantly more elsewhere.
Although Champions League football and silverware are more driving factors than money, West Ham must pay Rice as much as his talent and influence deserves or risk losing him.
Chelsea, who released Rice immediately before he joined the West Ham academy in 2014, are keen to make a swoop.
Frank Lampard wanted to bring him in a year ago but the club spent big money on the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz instead.
The information about Rice is true. This is because the contract offers have been below what Yarmolenko is currently on, what Hernandez was on and other well paid players. For the player to stay at the club and turn down big moves the pay needs to reflect his ability— ExWHUemployee (@ExWHUemployee) July 1, 2021

Thomas Tuchel also likes the midfielder and a deal would see the former Blues youngster reunited with best-mate Mason Mount at Stamford Bridge.
United, meanwhile, would rival Chelsea for his signature as they try and bolster their midfield department.
Rice gets on well with skipper Harry Maguire and Jesse Lingard, who shone on loan at West Ham last season, could be used as a makeweight in any potential deal.
United have been linked with a £60m transfer in the past but West Ham would likely demand more than that.
Rice, though, wants to be told of any formal offers and hopes the club who paid nothing for him would be willing to let him go.
The Hammers vice-captain is currently on international duty at Euro 2020.
He has formed a strong partnership with Leeds star Kalvin Phillips with a series of impressive displays, especially on Tuesday as England beat Germany to book their spot in the quarter-finals.
