Man Utd ‘BLOCK Van de Beek from joining Everton in deadline day loan transfer despite £35m flop wanting to leave’

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly blocked Donny van de Beek from joining Everton on loan on deadline day. That is despite the £35million midfielder ‘wanting to leave’ Old Trafford.
Donny van de Beek was a late loan transfer target for Everton but Manchester United refused to sanction the moveCredit: Getty
Van de Beek, 24, moved to the Premier League a year ago following his transfer from Ajax.
But he struggled in his first season, racking up just 1,456 minutes of action across all competitions and four Premier League starts.
This season he has been an unused sub in all three Red Devils matches and was snubbed by Louis van Gaal for his first Netherlands squad of the campaign.
And according to AD in his homeland, the Dutch international was hoping to secure a transfer away this summer to get playing regularly again.
Everton was the most likely destination with the Toffees willing and able to meet the demands of the £125,000-a-week flop.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put the brakes on a move and prevented the centre-mid from leaving, labelling a deal as ‘non-negotiable’ and promising the midfielder he will ‘get his chances’.

The signing of Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to mean Paul Pogba returns to a more central role, pushing the bulked-up ex-Ajax man further down the pecking order in his favoured position.
And Van de Beek’s agent Guido Albers hit out at the club for stopping his client being allowed out, even on loan.
He said: “There was a lot of interest from Italy, Germany, England, so that looked good.
“But you need co-operation of the club, and it looked like they would, but ultimately they didn’t.
“Disappointed, but also assuring for him, so that he will get his chance, and will get his minutes, but this will become clear in due time.
“He’s been promised that before, but we came to a clear agreement about this with the club, so we have all faith that it will happen now.”

Asked if Van de Beek was happy at United, Albers added: “I won’t say.
“But everybody who knows Donny knows he loves the game and he wants to be on the pitch every week.
“So from this answer you can probably tell what he wanted most.”

Man Utd striker Anthony Martial rejects deadline day transfer to Lyon to stay at Old Trafford until at least January

ANTHONY MARTIAL reportedly rejected a deadline day move back to Lyon to fight for his place at Manchester United. The 25-year-old forward had been tipped to leave Old Trafford following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial turned down a move back to Lyon on deadline dayCredit: Getty
And following an underwhelming performance against Southampton last month, his future at Old Trafford looked uncertain.
But despite his poor form, the France international is determined to fight for his place at United having passed up the opportunity to leave.
According to L’Equipe, Martial was contacted by Ligue 1 side Lyon on Tuesday over a loan switch back to the Groupama Stadium.
Martial came through the youth ranks at Lyon, where he went on to make four first-team appearances before joining Monaco in 2013.
However it’s claimed the player rebuffed their approach, instead choosing to remain at the Theatre of Dreams until at least the winter transfer window.
Supporters have been losing patience with the 2015 Golden Boy winner, who scored just four times in the Premier League last term from 22 matches.

And with Martial without a goal return from his three matches this campaign, he knows he will have to take his chances soon if he wishes to remain in contention to play.
United icon Dimitar Berbatov has expressed his concern that there could be no place in the side for Martial due to Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and Ronaldo being preferred instead.
He told Betfair: “I think Greenwood is in a good position right now, he’s the future of the team for sure and he’s someone who could definitely be given more playing time because for me he’s a natural finisher.

“He can only get better as long as he plays and I don’t think his place is in question.
“I actually think Martial is going to have a big question mark over his head and I’m probably more concerned about that.
“Rashford is someone who also is born and bred in Manchester and I think he’ll be fine and Cavani also has his place and that’s why I’m curious to see how he’s going to rotate everyone.”

    RON THE MARK
Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has praised Manchester United for signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Palmer told Football FanCast: “He can play in the number nine role, you can play him out wide, you can play him off the top, you know, he’s an unbelievable fit player.
“It’s just a magnificent bit of business, a feelgood factor.
“I went for Man United before the league started, I went for them to win it and I’m still sticking with that, if they can get the Pogba deal done which I’m sure they will do, I think they’ve got a great chance this season.”
    RONALDO PAYMENT DETAILS
Manchester United will pay Juventus a €15million (£12.9m) transfer fee for Cristiano Ronaldo over the course of five years with an additional €8m (£6.9m) payable upon activating a number of performance related add-ons.
An official statement from Juve read: “Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with Manchester United FC Ltd for the definitive disposal of the registration rights of the player Dos Santos Aveiro Cristiano Ronaldo has been reached for a consideration of € 15.0 million payable in five financial years, which might be increased, up to a maximum of €8.0 million, upon achievement of specific performance objectives over the duration of the employment contract with the player.
“This operation generates a negative economic impact of approximately €14.0 million on the 2020/2021 financial year due to the partial write-down of the net book value of the player’s registration rights.”
Ronaldo is expected to make his United debut after the international break
    CAVANI STAYS
Edinson Cavani has stayed at Manchester United despite last-minute reports suggesting he will leave.
Cavani was linked with a move to Barcelona on transfer deadline day but nothing materialised.
Therefore, the striker will be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for the season.
However, it is not yet certain which shirt number he will be wearing as rumours suggest he could hand No7 back to the returning Cristiano Ronaldo
    OLE ON RONALDO
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is certain Cristiano Ronaldo will have even more success in his second stint at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer said: “You run out of words to describe Cristiano.
“He is not only a marvellous player, but also a great human being. To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level for such a long period requires a very special person.
“I have no doubt that he will continue to impress us all and his experience will be so vital for the younger players in the squad.
“Ronaldo’s return demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and I am absolutely delighted he is coming home to where it all started”

    CR7 AGAIN?
Manchester United signing Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to reclaim the iconic No7 jersey following confirmation of his return to Old Trafford, reports suggest.
Edinson Cavani, who is currently allocated the legendary number, is reportedly willing to give up the cherished shirt.
And there is indeed a precedent for changing Premier League squad numbers.
Former Tottenham star Emmanuel Adebayor switched from 25 to 10 in the 2012-2013 season.
Nevertheless, the top flight has given no indication on how the request would be received
    VARANE REACTS
Raphael Varane is very pleased that he will reconnect with former Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
Varane told MUTV: I am very happy.
“He’s a legend and all players can learn when you play with him.
“It’s a great help for all players, for all young players, and of course he never stops scoring goals, so he will help the team.”
    QUESTION MART
Manchester United legend Dimitar Berbatov believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Manchester United leaves a ‘big question mark’ over Anthony Martial.
The same goes for the rest of the forwards, such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Edinson Cavani.
Berbatov told Betfair: “Where Ronaldo fits into the United side is the question I asked myself because we have Martial, Rashford, Sancho and Cavani so there are a lot of attacking options.
“I actually think Martial is going to have a big question mark over his head and I’m probably more concerned about that”
    PELE MESSAGE
Cristiano Ronaldo has received a good luck message from Pele after his return to Manchester United.
The Brazilian legend issued a short message to Ronaldo via his Instagram account.
Pele posted: “There is no better feeling than conquering the world and returning home.
    “Always be happy, Cristiano”

    JAMES FAREWELL
Manchester United bid farewell to Daniel James after his move to Leeds during deadline day.
James joined Marcelo Bielsa’s side following a £25million deal between the two clubs.
United issued the following statement: “Everybody at Manchester United wants to thank Daniel for his excellent contribution during his two years as a Red.
“Be it as a starter, substitute or squad member, he always gave 100 per cent and he leaves with our very best wishes for the future.”
    MORE FROM JAMES
Former Manchester United ace Daniel James described his move to Leeds as “completely the right decision”.
James told Sky Sports: “For my footballing career, it was completely the right decision.
“Don’t get me wrong, I had an unbelievable time [at United], I made good friends and had a good bond with the fans.
“But, I feel it’s time to move on and I’m looking forward to it. I’d say I’m a different player [since signing for United two years ago], I only played half a season when I nearly signed here last term.
“I’ve got more games under my belt at the top level and I’d like to think I can add something else here”
    BIGGEST DEALS
This has been a transfer window to remember and here is the Premier League’s top five biggest blockbuster moves:

Jack Grealish (Manchester City from Aston Villa, £100m)
Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea from Inter Milan, £97.5m)
Jadon Sancho (Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund, £73m)
Ben White (Arsenal from Brighton, £50m)
Raphael Varane (Manchester United from Real Madrid, £41m)

    THE ED
Former Manchester United transfer target Eduardo Camavinga joined Real Madrid during deadline day.
Camavinga moved from Rennes following a €40million (£34.4m) deal that saw him signing a six-year deal.
The midfielder was linked with a transfer to United among other clubs before becoming a Real player.
But reports suggest the France international only wanted to go to Spain all along

    RON THE RIGHT TRACK
Juventus are reportedly set to save a significant amount of money after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
Ronaldo left Juve to return to Manchester United following a £12.9million deal, that is expected to include add-ons.
According to Calcio e Finanza, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s departure will contribute to the Bianconeri being €52.332million (£44.9m) better off.
Juventus, though, haven’t been able to sign a big star to replace the Portugal captain
    JAMES FAREWELL
Daniel James bid farewell to Manhcester United after his move to Leeds.

    FIRST SNAPS
Manchester United have shared the first pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo wearing their jersey.
Ronaldo has returned to United from Juventus following a £12.9million deal, that is expected to include add-ons.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner comes back 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid.

    RONALDO MESSAGE
Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a heartfelt message to Manchester United fans ahead of his imminent return to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo stated that United have always occupied a special place in his heart as that is where it all began for him.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also dedicated this transfer to legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Here’s what he posted on his Instagram:

    RONALDO PREDICTION
Paul Merson believes Manchester United star signing Cristiano Ronaldo will bring goals but warned fans he’s not the same player they remember.
Merson told Sky Sports: “They will get goals. Put the ball in the box and he will score goals, there’s no doubt. But what the Manchester United fans need to remember is that this is not the Ronaldo who was embarrassing defenders when he was last at United. He is not going to get the ball out wide, do four stepovers, cut inside and score.
“I can’t wait to see him, but he is just not going to be the same player. He is not going to be able to run past too many defenders. Nobody gets better at that age.
“We have to remember that Juventus have let him go. They brought him in to win the Champions League. Last season, they didn’t even win Serie A”
    NOT BEDTIME YET
The summer transfer window has slammed shut but there is still the “deal sheet”.
This allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached and buys them extra time to submit all the documentation.
It gives those teams looking to get late business completed a further two hours, which means 1am on September 1 in this case.
But if a club is looking to complete an international transfer, they must still comply with the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) deadline of midnight

Man Utd v Newcastle (Premier League, Sept 11)
Young Boys v Man Utd (Champions League, Sept 14)

Man Utd v Aston Villa (Premier League, Sept 25)
Man Utd v Villarreal (Champions League, Sept 29)

    DAN DEPARTS
Daniel James completed his £25m move to Leeds United earlier today, but hasn’t left Old Trafford without wishing a fond farewell to those at Manchester United.
The Welsh winger has taken to social media to express his gratitude to those who have helped him during his time at United, bidding the club good luck as he acknowledges that the time is right to move on.
“I always wore the Man Utd shirt with honour and pride. Thank you to everyone at the club who I have worked with over the last two years.
“I’ve made fantastic friends and memories, but now is time to move on to the next step. All the best for the future!”
    DE BEEK DENIED MOVE
Donny van de Beek has endured a miserable time since joining Manchester United from Ajax for £35m just under a year ago.
The Dutchman’s Old Trafford career got off to a promising start with a goal on his debut in a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
However, since then, the 24-year-old has found his playing time severely limited, and in total he managed just 512 minutes of Premier League football during 2020-21.
As a result, his agent was keen to force a move away from United before the close of the transfer window this evening, and has tonight stated that there was plenty of interest from clubs in England, Germany and Italy – only for United to block a transfer at each opportunity.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested earlier this month that De Beek had a greater part to play this term, but the midfielder is yet to make it on to the pitch.

    NUMBERS GAME
Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans have been frantically analysing the footage of Cristiano Ronaldo’s press shots to see if there is any hint as to whether the Portuguese legend will be reclaiming his famous number seven shirt.
The Old Trafford club would require special dispensation from the Premier League if Ronaldo is utilise his CR7 brand as Edinson Cavani has already been registered as the club’s number seven for the season.
In usual circumstances, it would be interesting to know whether a player of Cavani’s calibre would be so accommodating as to give up his number, but the Uruguayan could be convinced now that the number 21 shirt – previously worn by Daniel James – is available. The striker wears 21 when appearing for his country.

Cristiano Ronaldo to get Man Utd no.7 shirt, Dan James SIGNS Leeds contract, Martial agent ‘pushing for PSG transfer’

DEADLINE DAY is here and Manchester United have COMPLETED the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese icon, 36, has been confirmed as a United player once again after Juventus outlined the deal between the two clubs.
Ronaldo is also set to take back his famous number 7 shirt from Edinson Cavani and could even take penalty duties off the ever-reliable Bruno Fernandes.
And Daniel James has signed his contract with Leeds as he completes a £30m transfer across the Pennines.

    UNITED CASH IN ON JAMES
It’s not often a player leaves Old Trafford for Elland Road with the best wishes of those at Manchester United, but many Red Devils will realise that the £25m brought it from Daniel James’ move to Leeds will go a long way to funding Cristiano Ronaldo’s return.
And, remarkably, the transfer fee is the fourth-highest ever recouped by the Premier League giants.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo’s original departure for Real Madrid, Romelu Lukaku’s move to Inter Milan, and Angel Di Maria’s PSG transfer have brought it more cash than today’s sale of James.
According to the Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst, only seven players have ever left United for a fee in excess of £20m with David Beckham, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay the others.

    LEEDS FINALLY LAND DAN
Dan-tastic! Two-and-a-half years after Dan James was first pictured holding a Leeds United shirt, the Welshman has finally signed on at Elland Road.
The forward joins Marcelo Bielsa’s squad from Manchester United for a fee of £25m, having put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
James was first set to join the Whites on deadline day in January 2019, having completed a medical and photoshoot with the Yorkshire club.
However, his then-club, Swansea City, pulled the plug on the £10m deal at the eleventh hour after a disagreement over its structuring.
Six months later, the Welsh international moved to Old Trafford for £15m, and went on to score six goals in 50 Premier League appearances.
DONE DEAL!DAN JAMES JOINS LEEDS UNITED!
    LINGARD IN LIMBO
After his incredibly impressive spell at West Ham in the second half of last season, many at Old Trafford were expecting to be inundated this summer with offers for Jesse Lingard.
However, with just five hours remaining before the transfer window closes, the 28-year-old remains a Manchester United player and now looks certain to stay in the north-west until January at least.
The Hammers had been linked with bringing Lingard back to the London Stadium, but their purchase of Croatian attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic earlier today appears to have quashed those hopes.
Lingard has made just one Premier League appearance for United in the past year, as an 86th minute substitute at Southampton nine days ago, and doesn’t appear to be a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term plans.

    DREAM ASSET
Manchester United fans have been wildly celebrating the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, but can the same be said of supporters of the 19 other Premier League clubs?
One way for them to ensure that they’re secretly applauding each of his goals is to swoop for the man themselves – by including the forward in their Dream Team.
The Portuguese legend has been added to the game this afternoon, and immediately becomes the most expensive player available at £7.5m.
The fee sees him priced higher than Harry Kane (£7.2m), Bruno Fernandes (£6.7m) and Romelu Lukaku (£6.5m).
Meanwhile, for players of the Premier League’s official Fantasy Premier League game, Ronaldo has been listed as a £12.5m forward.
UNITED EXPECT EDINSON TO REMAIN A RED
Speculation has raged regarding Edinson Cavani’s immediate future ever since Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United was announced.
The 34-year-old Uruguayan signed on for another year at Old Trafford following the success of last season’s short-term deal, but is likely to see his opportunities limited even further by Ronaldo’s arrival. The striker was left out of the United squad that recently travelled to Southampton.
A number of European clubs have been linked with a move for Cavani including a now Lionel Messi-less Barcelona.
However, United expect Cavani to remain with the club beyond this evening’s deadline.
    REDKNAPP THRILLED BY RONALDO RETURN
The name Redknapp has been synonymous with transfer deadline days in years gone past, but today it’s Jamie in the Sky Sports News studio rather than Harry hanging out of a car window.
And the former Liverpool and Spurs ace has just been on air to express his joy at the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford and the Premier League, but has warned that the Portuguese legend’s arrival will bring even greater expectations.
“It’s nostalgic, it’s amazing, it’s so exciting. Clinton [Morrison] and I were just talking off-air, and our kids can’t believe that they’re going to see Ronaldo in the Premier League as they never saw it before.
“The beauty of it is it will be so good to see him back. The other side of it is he’s 36, and, as a pundit, you’re wondering where Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] is going to fit him in.
“They’ve now got five great players that could play in that front line. Solskjaer now has such a big job to keep everybody happy and that brings tremendous pressure. Not having won anything at Manchester United, he now has to win something.”
    MERRY-GO-ROUND
Super-agent Jorge Mendes attempted to seal Anthony Martial a move to PSG, according to MadridistaReal.
The Athletic reported Martial was touted as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe should he leave the French giants for Real Madrid.
But with the transfer window nearing an end any potential transfer for Mbappe seems unlikely.
Real Madrid had reportedly handed PSG an ultimatum to accept their initial £145.6million offer, which included £8.6m in add-ons.
But nothing materialised and Real Madrid are now preparing to try and tie up a pre-contract agreement for the 22-year-old on January.
Should that transfer go ahead PSG could their attention to Martial who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks.
    DAN UPDATE
Daniel James’ move to Leeds United is DONE, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reports the signing has been ‘confirmed.’
All that’s left now is for the official announcement from the two clubs.
    BEST OF THE BEST
Football legend Pele has told Cristiano Ronaldo to ‘always be happy’ after Manchester United confirmed the signing of the 36-year-old forward this morning.
In a reply to CR7’s Instagram post announcing his return, Pele said “There is no better feeling than conquering the world and returning home.
    “Always be happy, Cristiano.”
    FEELING PEN-SIVE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a huge dilemma to sort out: who will take Manchester United’s penalties this season.
Bruno Fernandes has been the main man from 12 yards since arriving at Old Trafford.
If Solskjaer wants the best chance of scoring from the spot this term, he will choose Fernandes.
In stats since 2017, Fernandes has taken 26 and scored 25 of them at a success rate of 96.15 per cent with his hop-skip-jump technique.
That includes 21 from 22 in normal time for United – 49 per cent of his 43 goals for the club – and scoring a staggering 13 last term.
And Fernandes’ record far exceeds that of his compatriot Ronaldo.
The 36-year-old returning legend is far-from-flawless when it comes to penalties, managing to put away 26 of his 31 over the same time period, or just 83.87 per cent.

    DAVID ON DAN
Former England goalkeeper David James thinks Dan James’ transfer from United to rivals Leeds is a ‘fantastic move’ for the winger and for Leeds.
“He told Sky Sports: I think it is a fantastic move.
“The way Dan James plays – rapid, attack-minded, he will suit the Leeds style. He will fit in perfectly there.
“With Ronaldo there, he is surplus to requirements. But he is only 23 and has time on his side – it is something Bielsa will take advantage of.”
    NINE HOUR WARNING
That 11pm deadline is rapidly approaching.
Nine hours is still plenty of time to get any potential deals done, but is Ole Gunnar Solskajer happy with the squad he has already?
The Red Devils have already officially announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo today, and that is a hard one to beat as the transfer window reaches its climax.
    NO RUSH
Manchester United are in no hurry to get a deal for Ruben Neves over the line.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are happy to wait until next summer to make their move for the 24-year-old midfielder.
That’s despite Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side being in desperate need of a central midfielder.
But with three years left on Neves’ contract currently a move for the Portuguese international next summer would not cost the Red Devils as much.
    Getty Images
    NO GO
SunSport’s Duncan Wright reports Jesse Lingard is almost certain to remain at Manchester United until at least January after West Ham secured the £25.7million capture of Nikola Vlasic.
The Hammers pushed through the five-year deal for the 23-year-old Croatian as the player David Moyes wanted to strengthen his attacking options at the London Stadium.
It is understood there had been a late conversation with Moyes and Lingard over the England star returning to East London following the success of his loan spell with the club last season.
But Lingard, 28, is still wanted at United by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now that Daniel James is on his way to Leeds in a deadline day deal.
And West Ham decided not to wait around for a late change of mind in case they got caught out, so completed the deal for Vlasic which could rise to £33m if add-ons are met.
Having already splashed out £29.8m on Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, there is no money left for Moyes to make another permanent signing during the current window.
But there may be some finances available for a loan move, and Moyes is considering options for a left-sided player to provide much-needed strength in depth.
    DAN THE MAN
SunSport’s Phil Cadden reports Dan James will fly to Finland on his own and join the Wales squad once he seals his £30million move to Leeds.
The Manchester United winger is on the verge of a big-money switch to Elland Road.
James, 23, is currently undergoing his medical in Yorkshire and will join Rob Page’s side in Finland later today rather than return to Cardiff.
James played for United in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Wolves but, after arriving for Wales duty, he then travelled north to sort out his transfer.
Wales boss Page confirmed ahead of tomorrow’s friendly in Helsinki: “He was on camp. I have to be flexible with the players. I can’t say he can’t leave.
“We’re still waiting to find out what’s happening with that situation. He’ll be rejoining the camp.
“He won’t be with us [from Cardiff].
“There’s not enough time to get him back into the camp from where he is. So we’ll make other arrangements. The most important thing is he is with us in Finland tonight.”
    HIGH PRAISE
Former Manchester United man Mikael Silvestere is full of praise for new centre-back Raphael Varane.
He told tribalfootball.com, on the behalf of NetBet: “[Varane’s] coming to the club at a time where he is on top of his game.
“He is the finished article as a centre back and he has so much to give to the team and that partnership in the backline.
“He brings leadership and experience and alongside Harry [Maguire], I think it will be very important.
“They both need to stay fit, and they need to gel together as quick as possible to give the team that platform to be more attacking.
“The midfield and forward line need to have that confidence that it will be difficult to beat Manchester United this season.”
    TEN HOURS TO GO
There’s just TEN hours left to go now until the summer transfer window slams shut.
And what can Manchester United fans expect for the rest of the day?
Well Dan James’ permanent transfer to Leeds United is expected to be announced shortly ahead of the 23-year-olds initial £24million move.
In terms of incomings the Red Devils have already officially announced Cristiano Ronaldo as a Manchester United player this morning.
Further incomings look unlikely though, with Ruben Neves the only player linked with a move to Old Trafford today.
But Spurs are said to be leading the race for the midfielders signature, meaning United fans may have to be content with what they’ve got this summer.
Anything can happen on deadline day though…
    RON’S RECORD
Cristiano Ronaldo’s insane stats put Manchester United’s recent top scorers to shame.
Ronaldo, 36, completed his stunning return to United on Tuesday.
It comes 12 years after leaving the club to sign for Real Madrid in a world-record £80million deal.
He spent nine seasons at the Bernabeu followed by three with Juventus.
In that time Ronaldo racked up a staggering 551 club goals – 450 for Real and 101 for Juve.
And they are way beyond those registered back at the Red Devils in that time.

    IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Eduardo Camavinga will be officially announced as a Real Madrid player today, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 18-year-old chose a move to Madrid over offers from Manchester United and PSG.
And according to Romano Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti sees the young midfielder in his immediate plans.
Reports had suggested the Frenchman could head back to Rennes on loan, but he is expected to be feature from the off at the Bernabeu.
    VIVA RONALDO
Here’s a look at CR7’s numbers from his first spell at the club United fans.
Can he lead Manchester United to more glory this season?

    CAVANI CONTRADICTIONS
Some reports today suggest Edinson Cavani will not be leaving Manchester United this summer, while others are reporting the opposite.
According to the MailOnline Barcelona have enquired regarding a possible deal for the 34-year-old striker.
But with the Uruguayan forward earning £250,000-per-week at Old Trafford a move is highly unlikely to be financially viable for cash-strapped Barcelona.
    RAPHA’S READY
Manchester United’s Raphael Varane is excited about the prospect of linking up with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
The pair won the Champions League FOUR times together and will now attempt to bring that success to Old Trafford.
Varane told manutd.com: “I am very happy.
“He’s [Ronaldo] a legend and all players can learn when you play with him.
“It’s a great help for all players, for all young players, and of course he never stops scoring goals, so he will help the team.”
    CAV LATEST
Edinson Cavani will NOT be leaving Manchester United before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that ‘unless something crazy happens’ the 34-year-old striker will stay at Old Trafford.
The Uruguayan is still part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans despite the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
    NUNO REUNION
Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow with Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo eyeing a move for his former player Ruben Neves.
According to journalist Pedro Almeida the Portuguese midfielder is ‘negotiating a long-term contract with Tottenham.’
A deal worth £34million is being reported and could be completed before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
The Red Devils had previously been linked with a move for Neves, but now Spurs have emerged as the leading candidates for the 24-year-old.

Cristiano Ronaldo says his Man Utd transfer is ‘for Sir Alex Ferguson’

Ronnie, 36, posted a picture of himself celebrating at Old Trafford during his first spell.
And he posted a touching message alongside and spoke of his ‘never ending love for Man Utd’.
The former Real Madrid ace wrote: “Everyone who knows me, knows about my never ending love for Manchester United.
“The years I spent in this club were absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.
“I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide.
“It’s like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Man Utd, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands.

“This is absolutely 100 per cent the stuff that dreams are made of.
“My first domestic league, my first cup, my first call to the Portuguese national team, my first Champions League, my first Golden Boot and my first Ballon d’Or.
“They were all born from this special connection between me and the Red Devils. History has been written in the past and history will be written once again! You have my word!
“I’m right here! I’m back where I belong! Let’s make it happen once again!
“PS – Sir Alex, this one is for you…”
    ‘BACK WHERE I BELONG’
United, Ronaldo and Juve officially announced the transfer on Friday morning.
Ronnie has signed a two-year deal, with the option of an additional 12 months, worth a whopping £480,000-a-week.
He completed a medical in Lisbon over the weekend.
The ex-Sporting Lisbon ace could cost United a further £6.8m if he meets certain performance objectives.
And the Red Devils will still be paying Juventus for the superstar by the time he reaches 41.
That is because United have split the payment over five years.

Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and the Champions League at Manchester United before leaving the club in 2009.
The five-time Ballon D’or winner has won over 30 major trophies during his career so far, including five Champions League crowns plus the Euro 2016 with his country.
Ronaldo is also the first player to win leagues in three different countries and was top scorer in Serie A last season before claiming the Golden Boot at this summer’s Euros.
The veteran scored 118 goals in 292 matches for United during his his first spell at the club.
He had been linked with a move to champions Manchester City this summer.
But rivals United swooped to bring him back in a blockbuster move after a phone call from Sir Alex.
    ‘AGENT BRUNO’
Portuguese team-mate Bruno Fernandes had already called him the night before to try and talk him into joining him back at Old Trafford.
The combination of the two convinced him to end negotiations with Etihad chiefs as United played a dramatic late hand to trump City.
United legend Rio Ferdinand confirmed: “Sir Alex – massive part. Cristiano Ronaldo and Sir Alex have got a bond that very few players get to have in their career with a manager.
“There was no way Cristiano Ronaldo would be coming to Man Utd without speaking to Sir Alex Ferguson. Simple as that.”
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and his right-hand man Matt Judge did the incredible deal with Juventus and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.
The deal was triggered after Ronaldo told Juventus boss Max Allegri that he no longer wanted to play for the club and was therefore taken out of the squad for the home game with Empoli.
He then flew to Lisbon to have his medical ahead of joining up with his Portuguese teammates on international duty.

Alongside their announcement, Juventus said: “Today that bond born on July 10, three years ago, has been dissolved, but what has been written will forever remain. It has been an incredible journey.”
Juventus spent £88m on Ronaldo when he joined in 2018, and he scored 101 goals in 134 games for the Turin outfit.
He could prove to be a bargain for United, who let him go to Real Madrid for £80m in 2009.

Diogo Dalot’s Man Utd transfer exit blocked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after defender looked set for Dortmund loan

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has pulled the plug on Diogo Dalot’s Old Trafford escape. The Portuguese right-back was set to join Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer.

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has pulled the plug as he wants the Portuguese around as back upCredit: Rex
But SunSport understands Manchester United boss Solskjaer has informed Dalot, 22, the deal is off.
Ole is keen to keep the defender around the squad as back-up this campaign – and feels his departure would leave them short in that area.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is their first choice right back, while Brandon Williams – who can play in that role – has joined Norwich on loan.
Dalot spent last season on loan with Italian giants AC Milan – but will have to make do with United’s bench this time around.
United are also content with their spending so far this summer with Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo coming through the door.
Dalot’s exit would give Ole and United a dilemma of needing to sign a replacement, which appears unlikely at this stage with the window shutting Tuesday.

Dalot joined United from Porto for £19m in 2018 – but has struggled to force himself into first team contention, making just 21 Prem appearances since arriving.
He played the same number of league games in one season alone for Milan last year.
He made his first league appearance for United since February 2020 as a sub in their 1-0 win over Wolves on Sunday.

David De Gea pulled off a heroic double save at Molineux as Bruno Fernandes labelled him man-of-the-match.
Mason Greenwood persisted throughout and was rewarded 10 minutes from time when his ball across goal was turned into his own net by Jose Sa.
Amad Diallo’s loan to Feyenoord has also been cancelled after the young winger got injured.

Cristiano Ronaldo completes Man Utd medical ahead of signing two-year deal with 12-month extension option in £21m move

CRISTIANO RONALDO has completed his Manchester United medical ahead of his stunning £21million return. The Portuguese superstar agreed a transfer back to Old Trafford on Friday.
Cristiano Ronaldo has passed his Manchester United medical in Lisbon ahead of his returnCredit: Sky Sports
He took his private jet from Turin to Lisbon to prepare for the international break.
But according to Sky Sports News, Ronaldo went through his medical checks over the weekend in the Portugal capital and got the all clear.
Now the final details are being sorted out with everything on course to be finished before tomorrow night’s deadline.
It is understood personal terms are all okay but the process to secure his visa is ongoing.
Ronaldo, 36, will sign a two-year contract worth £480,000 per week with the Red Devils and there is the option of a 12-month extension.
It remains unclear what number the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will take at Old Trafford.

Cavani wore the No7 when he came off the bench at Wolves but Ronaldo could still get the iconic jersey under exceptional circumstances.
However, although he may be able to keep the number, Cavani is unlikely to keep his place in the team.
That is because manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Ronaldo has been signed to lead the line as a centre forward.
A winger during his first spell at the club, he has transformed his game over the years to play through the middle as a clinical goalscorer.

Solskjaer said: “Cristiano has evolved as a player.
“He used to play wide right, wide left, up front. But he’s more of a centre-forward for me at the moment. Definitely.
“But there’ll be games where we play two up front and three up front. But I want him in the box. I want him scoring goals.”

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘to get Man Utd No7 shirt’ as United win at Wolves, Trippier transfer back on, James set for loan

CRISTIANO RONALDO will become the Premier League’s highest ever earner on around £580,000-a-week, according to reports. And he will be the club’s new No7, according to the Premier League website.
However, Edinson Cavani wore the famous shirt at Molineux in the 1-0 win over Wolves.
The Uruguayan is set to do battle with fellow veteran Ronaldo for a starting berth but has no intention of leaving, according to reports.
Ronaldo’s move to United is also set to mean a loan move for Dan James, most likely to Everton or Leeds.
And a move for Kieran Trippier is reportedly back on.
Meanwhile Erling Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund next summer even if they win the Bundesliga, according to reports from Germany.
PSG are keen to sign the Norwegian now, but the club’s poor relationship with Dortmund and his desire to stay in Germany this season are set to derail the move.
And that would put United in pole position to complete the transfer over the coming year.

    PAUL OVER
Paul Pogba went from “cheat” to “class act” with Wolves fans – as he walked over to hand them his shirt.
Pogba was booed by home supporters after the final whistle after his supposed foul on Ruben Neves in the build-up to Man Utd’s winner.
But the French won Wolves fans over as he gifted one of them his jersey.

    DIALL TONE
Amad Diallo’s Feyenoord loan is in danger of collapsing.
Fabrizio Romano claims the young winger could stay at Man United this month after picking up an injury in training.
Feyenoord are now ready to pull the plug and find another signing ahead of deadline day.

    NOT NUMBER RON
Roy Keane does not think Cristiano Ronaldo can inspire Manchester United to Premier League glory this season.
He told Sky Sports: “I think it’s great news for United, the fans, the Premier League.
“There’s no doubt in my mind he’s still a world-class player… He’s a clever guy. He’s coming back to United to win stuff.
“I don’t think he’ll be the difference in terms of winning the big trophies – Man Utd still have the same problems with or without Ronaldo and that’s midfield.
“But an FA Cup or a League Cup is more than possible.”
    SOU REF RAGE
Graeme Souness slammed Paul Pogba’s unpunished ‘leg breaker’ lunge on Ruben Neves in the build-up to Manchester United’s winner against Wolves.
He told Sky Sports: “That’s a leg-breaker. Anyone who’s ever played the game will tell you that’s a dangerous challenge.
“It’s a foul. Paul Pogba doesn’t make any contact with the ball whatsoever. He makes contact with the shin, the shinguard.
“Watch how high Paul Pogba’s foot is here, and look at the referee’s position – he just doesn’t see it! They’ve got away with one.”
    CRIS CROS
Cristiano Ronaldo will play centre-forward for Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Sunday.
The Red Devils boss said: “Cristiano has evolved as a player.
“He used to play wide right, wide left, up front. But he’s more of a centre-forward for me at the moment. Definitely.
“But there’ll be games where we play two up front and three up front. But I want him in the box. I want him scoring goals.”

    COMING UP
    Let’s take a look at United’s next five games…

    REIGN-ALDO
Graeme Souness says Cristiano Ronaldo can win Man Utd the title as he’s on ‘another planet’.
Souness told Sky Sports: “I think there’s two, three or four players in Man United’s dressing room that need him.
“Only him or (Lionel) Messi coming into the dressing room would make them up their game.
“I see United challenging for the championship with him in the team because they had 11 draws last season.
“They won’t have them now because he’s on another planet.”
    CHARLIE WYETT’S VERDICT
It was not exactly Wayne Rooney against Fenerbahce.
Jadon Sancho was handed a first start for Manchester United but there was no hat-trick and an assist like Rooney delivered on his club debut in the Champions League 17 years ago.
Unfortunately, there was not a lot of anything from the £73million summer signing although he nearly gifted Wolves an opening goal.
Sancho, 21, a fantastic prospect, will have many better days in a United shirt compared to this 72-minute run-out before being replaced by Anthony Martial.

Man Utd may have beaten Wolves, but their performance left little to be desired.
Indeed, Red Devils legend Roy Keane hilariously admitted he hoped Cristiano Ronaldo HADN’T been watching after agreeing a stunning return.
Keane told Sky Sports at half-time: “”Their overall play, their body language, they just look lacklustre.
“There is no energy to their play. My only worry is that Ronaldo is watching, it’s really poor.”
FT: WOLVES 0 MAN UTD 1
Game over at Molineux and United have emerged victorious thanks to Greenwood’s 80th minute strike.
The Red Devils are also record-makers today, now having gone an incredible 28 games unbeaten away from home!
And with Cristiano Ronaldo on his way after the international break, things are looking rosy for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
    GOAL!
The deadlock has finally been broken and it’s Man United who take a late lead through Mason Greenwood.
But it’s a controversial strike as Ruben Neves threw himself to the ground ‘injured’ in the build-up.
However, Mike Dean is having none of it!
And United are 1-0 up heading into the final stages.
    HE’S A KEEPER
Around 20 minutes left and David De Gea has pulled off an incredible double save to deny Romain Saiss at point blank.
If United can get even a point out of this game, they’ll have their stopper to thank.
Meanwhile, Anthony Martial has come on for Jadon Sancho in a bid to change the direction of the game.

    RAISE YOUR GAME
Man Utd have taken off Dan James for Edinson Cavani.
But there has been no change in their style of play, nor the direction of the match.
On the back of a draw at Southampton, United will need to up the tempo if they’re to pick up the win against an impressive Wolves side.
    HALF-TIME
Man United have really struggled to make an impression in the first 45 minutes here.
Wolves have been sharp all over the pitch and made life a nightmare for their prestigious opponents.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mike Phelan were locked in a heated discussion as they left the pitch.
Will there be changes coming during the break?
    TRAORE BLIMEY
Adama Traore is running the show at Molineux this afternoon.
The winger is giving United’s midfield and defence a torrid time, with Fred particularly struggling.
Paul Pogba is also failing to make an impression after being moved off the left into a deeper central role.

    GAME ON
Ten minutes in and Man Utd are yet to break the deadlock against Wolves.
That’s despite boasting new signings Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho in their starting XI.
Indeed, it’s been Wolves with all the early joy, missing TWO chances to go ahead.
Will the Red Devils keep their impressive away form going to set a new 28-game unbeaten English record?
Or has Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival coincided with the end of the run?
    MOUR GLORY
Former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho believes Crisitano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford is ‘perfect business’ for all parties involved.
The Roma manager gushed: “The only thing I say – and it looks to me something basic and logic – is that if Juventus are happy, if Cristiano is happy and if Manchester United are happy this is the perfect business.
“I think there is no need to talk about Cristiano.
“There is no need to make any comment about someone who plays, wins, scores and makes history for 20 years.”
    OLE ON RONNY
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to Manchester United club reporter Stewart Gardner ahead of today’s clash against Wolves.
The Norwegian manager was quizzed about the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, and is hoping the paperwork can be ‘finalised’ in preparation for an official announcement.
He said: “Of course the fans have been excited for the last couple of days, we all are of course.
“He has had such a great career and he has been here before. Hopefully we can just finalise the paperwork and announce it. He is going to give everybody a boost, of course.
“I played with him, he’s a great player, he is a top human being, he is a top professional, so he will give everybody in the squad and everybody around the club a buzz.”
    CAV A DAY OFF
Cristiano Ronaldo will NOT wear the No7 this season at Manchester United, with Edinson Cavani keeping the shirt.
The Uruguayan striker was given the jersey by the Red Devils for their away trip to Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
Both Man Utd’s and the Premier League’s official website has Cavani, 34, down to wear the No7 today at Wolves.
    SHAW SPEAKS
Luke Shaw has spoken on the ‘lift’ the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo has given the Manchester United.
The 36-year-old is set to undergo a medical in Lisbon today before the move is made official.
And Shaw told Sky Sports:m”I feel like it’s given the club a massive lift, not just inside but also outside which is obviously a very big positive.
“He’s been one of the best players in the world for a number of years now and everyone’s very excited for him to come in and especially to learn off him and to be able to play with him too.”
    SANCHO AND VARANE START
    1 De Gea, 5 Maguire, 6 Pogba, 11 Greenwood, 17 Fred, 18 Fernandes, 19 Varane, 21 James, 23 Shaw, 25 Sancho, 29 Wan-Bissaka
It’s a first start in Manchester United colours for both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
