Man Utd striker Anthony Martial ‘available for £40m transfer in January and willing to join Prem rival’

MANCHESTER UNITED will accept offers of £40million for Anthony Martial in January, according to reports. And the Frenchman is reportedly willing to join a Premier League rival.

The 25-year-old forward had been tipped to leave Old Trafford following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He rejected a deadline day move to Lyon.
But he could still leaving during the next transfer window, according to Eurosport.
Martial has three years left on his £250,000-a-week Old Trafford deal.
And his wages could be a sticking point when it comes to finding a new club.
United have informed the striker’s representatives they are happy to let him go in the new year.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
But Martial is said to be concerned the £40m tag may price him out of a move.
Atletico Madrid showed interest before re-signing his countryman Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.
And the Catalan giants are also said to be considering a move for the Red Devils man – but not until next summer.
As a result, Martial is said to be open to a switch to another Premier League side.
However, he would much rather stay and be a part of United plans – though that looks unlikely.
He scored seven in 36 matches last season but has failed to find the net in five games this campaign – four of which were brief showings off the bench.
SunSport exclusively revealed this month Martial is one of seven stars United are looking to offload in January.
Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are among those who may be sold.

Full-backs Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles could also go.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add to his transfer kitty by offloading some of his squad, who are not expected to feature much in his starting XI.
It is also understood a number of his younger stars are available for loan, as the club look to get them more game-time.

Man Utd line up Tottenham’s record signing Ndombele as shock Pogba transfer replacement if midfielder leaves

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Man Utd want to ‘protect’ themselves from losing Pogba, 28, at the end of the season.
Pogba’s current deal expires in June and it’s unclear at this stage whether he will put pen to paper on a contract extension.
And rumours suggest the Premier League side have identified Ndombele as a potential replacement for the World Cup winner.
The Spurs ace made his first Prem appearance of the season against Chelsea on Sunday and his commitment has come into question.
Ndombele reportedly wants to leave North London but Spurs chief Daniel Levy has slapped a £55million price tag on him.
Tottenham signed the player from Lyon for an initial £55m in July 2019, with that figure rising to a club record £65m.

Ndombele, a seven-cap international, has failed to flourish in England since the move, featuring in 55 Prem fixtures to date.
Man Utd are also believed to be interested in AC Milan star Franck Kessie, 24, as a replacement for Pogba.
The Ivory Coast international has been a key part of Milan’s midfield since his move from Atalanta in June 2017, playing 145 Serie A games.
According to Transfermarkt, Kessie is valued at £49.5m – meaning he could be a slightly cheaper option than Ndombele.
Both rumours depend on Pogba’s situation and the player’s agent Mino Raiola has hinted he could stay at Man Utd or sign for Juventus.
He said: “Paul Pogba is out of contract in June, so we’ll talk with Man Utd and we’ll see what happens. Juventus? Paul still loves Turin.”

Lingard returned to haunt his old club by coming off the bench on Sunday to fire United to a 2-1 win.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is attempting to convince the midfielder to extend his contract at Old Trafford after his successful turnaround.
But Lingard still has not started a game and has been restricted to just 63 minutes of action – leading to Neville’s reiteration.
He said during his podcast on Sky Sports: “I still maintain he should’ve left but he will have his moments.
“I was happy to see how he bounced back after what happened in Europe in midweek.
“To bounce back and score the winner is a fantastic moment for him.”

Neville added: “He’s got good character, he’s a very good player and I feel he should be playing 40-45 games a season.
“He won’t get that at United in terms of 90-minute starts but he’s one of those players that I do feel United will benefit from having.
“I just thought for Jesse himself, he should’ve left.
“United could be a better team with someone like Lingard in it.”

Atletico Madrid ‘REJECTED chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo’ in summer transfer window overs fears of epic fan backlash

ATLETICO MADRID reportedly rejected the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.Spanish radio station Cadena Ser claims super agent Jorge Mendes offered the then-Juventus star to Diego Simeone’s newly crowned Spanish champions.

But Atletico rejected the opportunity over fears of a furious fan backlash, with Ronaldo a legend at rivals Real Madrid.
The Portugal star, 36, instead found his way back to Manchester United on deadline day, despite being linked with Real and Man City.
And Atleti instead ended up bolstering their attack by re-signing Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.
Ronaldo has been a smash hit since returning to England, scoring four goals in just three games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The veteran was on target as United beat West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium on Sunday.
And Ronnie showed his delight at the result with an Instagram post.

It read: “Every game in the Premier League is always an amazing fight for the three points.
“Today we got to see a glimpse of all the obstacles that we will find on our way, but we have to keep our mind set on our goals.
“Together! Strong! Focused! Let’s go, Devils!”
But despite Ronaldo’s second Old Trafford dance, boss Solskjaer is refusing to entertain talk of winning the title.
He said: “You’re not going to get me on that one now.

“It’s five games into the season. I was probably down and out and lost my job yesterday. That’s the way it is at Man United.
“We deserved three points. It’s a hard place to come, here. Hopefully these points can make a difference.
“Let’s see [about the title] when we get towards April and May.”

Cristiano Ronaldo reaches Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria’s Man Utd goal tally in Premier League after just TWO games

CRISTIANO RONALDO has already equalled the Premier League goal tally of both Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria at Manchester United after just TWO games. The 36-year-old netted a brace on his second debut for the club as the Red Devils beat Newcastle 4-1 at Old Trafford.

And he then added another at the London Stadium on Sunday during Man Utd’s 2-1 victory over West Ham.
Ronaldo’s instant success in front of goal is more than can be said for two of the club’s biggest flops in the No7 shirt.
Sanchez joined Man Utd from Arsenal in January 2018 but would spend just 18 months there before being farmed out on loan to Inter Milan.
The Chilean forward scored just three times in 32 Premier League appearances as he failed to ever establish himself as a first team regular at the Theatre of Dreams.
And the same could be said for fellow South American Di Maria.
The Argentine arrived at United in 2014 for a huge £59.7million but would go on to leave the club the following summer.

During a dreadful campaign, Di Maria scored just three times in 27 Premier League games and left with his tail between his legs.
He then went on to join Paris Saint-Germain where he remains to this day having scored a much-improved 52 times in 174 matches.
The curse of Man Utd’s No7 shirt can also be seen in several other players who failed to find the back of the net with any sort of regularity.

These include former England striker Michael Owen and Barcelona newboy Memphis Depay.
Ronaldo acquired the No7 shirt from Edinson Cavani after the Uruguayan scored 10 league goals last season.
Next up for Man Utd in the Prem is a home game against Aston Villa on Saturday, but before then they face West Ham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Man Utd’s net debt falls OVER £50m amid stunning Cristiano Ronaldo transfer return

MANCHESTER UNITED’S debt has fallen by £50million – their annual financial results revealed this week. The Red Devils’ net debt now stands at £419.1million, reduced from the £474.4m they reported last year.

Despite a net loss of £92.2m, a great deal of that can be put down to the club receiving a £66.6m non-cash tax charge.
The decrease in their debt is the result of an increase from season ticket revenues and the increased strength of the pound.
Man Utd’s wage bill has risen by 13.6 per cent to £322.6m, while their total revenue for the year was £494.1m.
They also reported an operating loss of £36.9m, a damning indictment of the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on football clubs over the last 12 months.
This is seen most notably in the matchday revenue which was down to just £7.1m, compared with £89.8m in the year before.
But with crowds coming back and the return of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is upbeat about the future.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET RONALDO TO SCORE VS WEST HAM AT 30/1
He said: “It has been an exciting start to the season at Old Trafford, with capacity crowds in attendance for the first time in almost 18 months.
“We were delighted to welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo to the club, along with Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton, to further reinforce the progress that our first team has been making under Ole.
“This was made possible by the strength of our operating model, with sustained investment in the team underpinned by robust commercial revenues.
“Everyone associated with Manchester United can be proud of the resilience we have shown through the challenges created by the pandemic and we look forward to the rest of the season and beyond with great optimism.”
The figures come after it was revealed last week that Man Utd’s club value soared by £271million following Ronaldo’s return.

The announcement of the star’s signing sent the share price soaring by 9.8 per cent at one point before it fell back slightly.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side currently sit top of the Premier League table with ten points from their opening four games.
They face West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Man Utd star Jesse Lingard never came close to sealing transfer return to West Ham, says David Moyes

DAVID MOYES insists West Ham never came close to re-signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United. The England international attacker reignited his faltering career with a stunning loan spell at the Hammers from January.

Lingard, 28, scored nine times in 16 matches leading to West Ham boss Moyes looking to turn his move into a permanent one during the summer window.
However, despite months of speculation, a transfer never materialised due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s determination to keep the ace at Old Trafford.
Moyes, whose side welcome United to the London Stadium tomorrow, said: “Ole made it quite clear to me early in the transfer window that he wanted to keep him.
“So I knew pretty early that he would be staying at Manchester United.
“I was hearing all the stuff but I had a private conversation with Ole who made it clear he was staying.”
Solskjaer is now believed to be attempting to secure Lingard’s long-term future by offering him a new contract.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET RONALDO TO SCORE VS WEST HAM AT 30/1
And Moyes is refusing to be drawn on whether he will make any more attempts to intervene and bring the ace back to the capital.
He added: “I can’t talk about players at other clubs because that’s not the way we do it.
“But because Jesse was part of our club for a while, I think all I can say is that he made a massive contribution to the team, both on the pitch and off the pitch. We really enjoyed having him.
“I hope in many ways Jesse will look at that time and how well the players treated him and made him welcome, that Jesse will look at that as well. So it may change.
“He was great for us. But simply the manager told me he was keeping him and when that happens, I believe the manager – and that’s the way it went.”

Donny van de Beek ‘has absolutely NO CHANCE’ of staying at Man Utd after struggling since £40m transfer, says Paul Ince

DONNY VAN DE BEEK ‘has absolutely no chance’ of making it at Manchester United, says Paul Ince. The Dutch international midfielder, 24, arrived at Old Trafford in a £40m deal from Ajax, but he has barely featured for the Red Devils.

Van De Beek was handed a rare start at Young Boys on Tuesday but he was subbed off at half time of the Champions League defeat.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed the switch was tactical after United had gone down to ten men due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card.
But the club’s former ‘Guv’nor’ Ince is not convinced and says the ace will never make an impact at the Theatre of Dreams.
When asked by The United Stand if he will turn out to be a success, he said: “Absolutely no chance!.
“He’s tried to make the player happy [by playing him].
“It’s always tough when you don’t play to come and make an impression on your first start and to sub him off at half-time… what does it say to us, what does it say to the fans?

BETTING SPECIAL – GET RONALDO TO SCORE VS WEST HAM AT 30/1
“What does it say to Donny? If I can’t get a full game against Young Boys, ten men or no ten men, then it’s time for me to go.
“There’s nothing Ole could say that would persuade me that my future is at Manchester United.
“I wish it was because it’s the biggest club in the world but he needs to play football.”
Ince even went as far to name at least six players that are ahead of him in the pecking order as he tipped Van De Beek to leave before the end of the campaign.
He added: “[Scott] McTominay is back now, [Nemanja] Matic – who I love – is back, he’s got Fred.
“He’s never not going to play [Bruno] Fernandes or [Paul] Pogba, he’s got [Jesse] Lingard who can play in that role so the signs are there and I expect him to be gone in January.
“Whether it’s a loan… they won’t be getting the money back that they paid for him.
“You feel sorry for him because he looks like a nice lad, looks like he wants to do well, looks like the ultimate professional and he must know now that the writing is on the wall, unfortunately.”
