The £60million-rated teenager has been brilliant for the Bundesliga heavyweights since making his debut for them two years ago.
The attacking midfielder has bagged ten goals and claimed 14 assists in 30 games for Leverkusen this season.
His form has prompted interest from a number of top European clubs including the three English powerhouses, who have sent scouts.
The prospect of a summer move to the Prem was dealt a blow after he picked up an ACL injury in the weekend which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

There has been interest from Spanish clubs and also in Italy, but that would almost certainly mean taking a huge hit on his near £170,000-a-week wages.
And with United planning another behind-the-scenes shake-up in the summer, Mata’s knowledge and experience have put him in the frame to be part of it.
The Spanish midfielder has had another bit-part playing role this season, and he has already been spoken of for an ambassadorial position.
But Mata, 33, has started taking his coaching badges and a management course, which has convinced some he should be handed a more technical role instead.

But Rangnick insists his main concern is over how to get the best out the player over the remainder of the season.
Rashford has struggled for form, netting just five goals in 24 appearances.

But Rangnick insists he is trying everything to get the best out a player who has managed just FOUR Prem goals this season.

He said: “What I’m trying to achieve with him is what we did with for example with Anthony, with Jadon, with one or two other youngsters that we have.”
What has left Rangnick scratching his head is how Rash, 24, can perform so well at Carrington, then struggle come match day.

Dutchman Ten Hag, and Paris Saint-Germain’s former Tottenham chief Mauricio Pochettino, have been the two men most-linked with the vacancy.
And United may be able to get Poch for nothing if he gets sacked by PSG after they blew a two-goal lead to crash out of the Champions League at Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
However, Sky Sports have now offered their own update on the potential next manager by claiming Ten Hag has been ‘sounded out’ through intermediaries by United.
They state that no official contact between the Old Trafford side and Ajax has yet been made.
But they report that the Dutchman, 52, ‘would be very keen to speak’ to United if they make a formal approach.
The two clubs enjoy a good relationship with United legend Edwin van der Sar currently the chief executive at Dutch giants.

Ten Hag is only under contract until the end of the season and is currently focused on leading Ajax – who are clear at the top by two points – to the title.

“I think when you really feel with the commitment and when you feel the people give everything to try to be successful, and they treat you really, really good how they treat us, it’s impossible to forget that.

“But always building with knowing the culture of the club, knowing how the fans love football, the history of the club to be how they are. This is all really important.
“Of course it’s important to translate your ideas and stick with your ideas and to try to implement your ideas, but as a coaching staff to arrive at a club like Tottenham, respecting always the history of the club, respecting the taste of the fans and the culture.
“That, I think for me is the most important thing to start to build what you want.
“After, you can change small things to feel you are part of the history and philosophy, but for me, the most important thing is to design an expectation and philosophy together when you arrive rather than try to arrive and to change everything and say, ‘this is the main idea and if you don’t stick with this it’s impossible to win’.”

But he is understood to be fighting a losing battle with the player increasingly intent on leaving the club this summer, less than a year after his emotional return to Old Trafford.
The player is still furious after being told by Ralf Rangnick that he would be deployed as a super-sub at the Etihad.
Ronaldo subsequently complained of a hip problem and was left out the squad.
He flew off to Portugal rather than join his team-mates at the city centre Lowry Hotel on Saturday night as they prepared for their Sunday afternoon showdown with City.
The 37-year-old veteran did return to the club’s Carrington training ground yesterday and was last of the players to leave.
He was there again today but didn’t take part in full training.

That is looking increasingly unlikely after their 4-1 drubbing at the hands of City left them fifth.
They are a point behind Arsenal who currently hold that last Champions League spot and have three games in hand over United.
Saturday’s opponents Tottenham, fresh from a 4-0 win at Leeds and 5-0 thumping of Everton, are also in the frame with West Ham.
