And he has been snapped with Arsenal academy graduate Gnabry, who has made a name for himself in Germany.
Man Utd have been tracking Gnabry for some time and Bayern are yet to tie the winger down to new terms.
Sky Germany are reporting that Bayern have so far failed to meet his salary demands – leading an array of clubs to begin circling.
And fans are hoping that lifelong Red Devil Lingard can put a good word in.

Helping United lure Gnabry to Old Trafford could be a good parting gift from Lingard.
The midfielder is set to leave his boyhood club for FREE this summer when his contract expires.

Nkunku deal could be scuppered by Bayern, Gakpo transfer eyed, Pogba’s possible Juventus return – Ten Hag updates

RED BULL LEIPZIG star Christopher Nkunku could be heading to the Allianz instead of Old Trafford this summer. The in-form striker was reportedly being watched by Manchester United, but he could be on his way to Bayern Munich if they fail to tie down Serge Gnabry to a new deal.
Elsewhere, Erik Ten Hag is interested in drafting in PSV star Cody Gakpo, according to reports.
The Red Devils would face competition from Arsenal, who are also interested in the Dutch winger, 22.
Meanwhile, Harry Maguire has broken his silence following England fans mercilessly jeering him in the international friendly against Ivory Coast.
The Manchester United man professionally responded to the critics with a Twitter post which reads: “Enjoyable week playing for my country.”
Paul Pogba possible return to Juventus in the summer seems to have taken a massive blow.

    Williams hints at exit
Manchester United ace Brandon Williams has hinted at an Old Trafford exit after his loan stint at Norwich ends, writes KOSTAS LIANOS.
Williams joined the Canaries on a season-long loan last summer due to the lack of first-team football opportunities with United.
The left-back has amassed a total of 26 appearances across all competitions this season and is loving life at Carrow Road.

Williams told Jamie Redknapp for the Daily Mail: “I’m playing games now and I love it. I can’t wait for the weekend so I can get to the stadium.
“There would be no point in me going back to United and just sitting on the bench.
“I want to play and feel I’m better equipped for the Premier League after this experience.
“Whether it’s at United or somewhere else, we’ll deal with that in the summer. But I’ve got a job to do here at Norwich.”
The defender had only one goal in mind before moving to Norfolk and that was to prove he is a “Premier League player”.
Williams added: “I could have stayed and trained but I knew deep down I had to get out and prove I was a Premier League player.”
    It’s a new Die-y
Ex-Man Utd star Diego Forlan is rocking a new look after ditching his iconic golden locks.
The 42-year-old has been snapped at the 72nd Fifa Congress at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center with brown hair and a beard.

    Cody Gakpo race heats up
Man United could join the bidding war for PSV Eindhoven star and Arsenal transfer target Cody Gakpo, reports suggest.
That is according to Manchester Evening News, who claim that United may turn to Gakpo as they will need at least one attacker in the summer to replace the departing Edinson Cavani.
The Amsterdam giants’ manager Erik ten Hag must be impressed with what he’s seeing, and he’s the favourite to take over at the United dugout this summer.
However, Arsenal are also determined to land the £42million-rated Netherlands international.
Recent reports even suggested that the Gunners are favourites to price the 22-year-old away from the Philips Stadion.
    Mason Greenwood’s status revealed
Man United have insisted there has been no change to the status of Mason Greenwood at the club.
The 20-year-old was suspended back in January after being arrested by police in connection with the rape and assault of a young woman.
He has since been released on bail, with the club stating at the time that he would not be available until further notice.
However, some fans recently found that Greenwood was still visible on the club website – leading some to speculate that he could be reinstated.
This has forced Man Utd to release a statement on the matter.
It read: “There has been no change whatsoever in Mason’s status.
“We removed his profile from the club app soon after he was removed from the squad in January.
“This was in order to remove Mason from interactive elements of the app, such as team predictions etc.
“However, his profile was never removed from the website as he remains a Manchester United player, albeit not currently part of the squad while the legal process unfolds.”
    Man United want Salzburg keeper
Man United are considering a move for Red Bull Salzburg keeper Philipp Kohn, according to reports, SunSport’s Steve Goodman writes.
The Swiss international has had an outstanding season to help his club top the Austrian Bundesliga.
And current Old Trafford boss Ralf Rangnick knows the 23-year-old well, having signed him for RB Leipzig in 2017.
Kohn has kept 13 clean sheets this season, enabling minnows Salzburg to reach the Champions League last 16.
United scouts have checked on him several times, including three weeks ago – when he impressed despite Salzburg ‘s 7-1 defeat at Bayern Munich.
The Red Devils are seeking back-up for David de Gea next season, with none of Lee Grant, Tom Heaton or Dean Henderson certain to land the understudy role.
    Fans think Pogba’s staying put
Man United supporters believe the club have dropped a huge hint that Paul Pogba will stay at the club.
The Red Devils announced their pre-season plans earlier today with the headline match set to be against Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.
They will then head Down Under to Australia to take on Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace at Melbourne Cricket Ground on July 15 and July 19 respectively.
However, despite his uncertain future, many United fans think today’s announcement is a clue that the midfielder will be staying put.
One replied to the post with: “Why is Pogba on the poster of the pre season tour??
Is there something they hiding from the fans coz if he doesn’t resign then he won’t be at the club come the tour.”
Another wrote: “Pogba is on the poster for the Pre-Season Tour ? hmmmm interesting.”
While a fellow fan commented: “So @paulpogba is on the cover of this pre-season tour poster. Is this a sign that he’s staying?”
    How United can help Maguire
Man United need to bring in better plays to help Harry Maguire grow, Jaap Stam claims.
He told bettingexpert: “I still think that he can do a lot better than what he’s been showing now. And I’m not saying he played very poorly but he has got the ability to improve.”
“And if you bring in players of a certain quality or bring players in of a certain value, then you need to help this player out as well, to become a better player.
“I’m not sure that this is happening.”
    Matic on United’s team spirit
Nemanja Matic has admitted that the dressing room atmosphere at Manchester United is “not fantastic” amid their current struggles.
Quizzed about the mood in the camp heading into the run in, Matic admitted that things aren’t going well.
The Serbian, 33, told talkSPORT: “The atmosphere? It depends on results.
“Of course, when you have good results the atmosphere is much better and everyone is happy.
“As you know we are not in the best position in the league and the atmosphere is not fantastic, but we have to stay positive and believe until the end because we want to finish in that top-four.
“The atmosphere in our dressing room will depend on that. If we finish top-four then it will be good for us, everyone will be… I cannot say happy, but satisfied.
“If we don’t make that, it will be a very sad dressing room.”
    Maguire has face-off with truck
Harry Maguire was held up on his return to Manchester United training.. by a massive truck!
As if the England defender, 29, hadn’t had a difficult enough week, he couldn’t even make it to Carrington without some drama.
On his return to the Aon Training Complex following his return from international duty on Thursday, Maguire was delayed by an advancing lorry.
As Maguire drove his Range Rover towards the gates, a massive truck trundled towards him down the single-track road.
Maguire was forced to pull over to the side of the road to allow it to pass before finally making it to the safety of Carrington.

    Rud not to
Man United’s hopes of signing Antonio Rudiger have been dealt a huge blow after the Chelsea defender’s agent was spotted meeting Barcelona’s representatives.
The 29-year-old’s representatives are reported to have held “secret talks” with Barca chiefs on Wednesday night.
Reports from Sky in Germany claim the two parties had a three-hour long meeting in the plush 5-star “The Barcelona Edition” hotel in Spain.
The LaLiga side are said to be keen on signing Rudiger on a free transfer this summer.

    Stam: Maguire’s a scapegoat
Jaap Stam thinks Harry Maguire is a scapegoat after the Man United star was booed on England duty.
He told Betting Expert: “He’s an easy target because it’s easy to say that he is making mistakes or wrong choices.
“Everybody, even when I played, I made mistakes, I made wrong choices as well.
“I think he also needs to have help from his teammates. He also needs to have the confidence of people around him and they will have for him. But also from outside as well, so he can make these steps.”
    Carragher’s advice for Maguire
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher reckons Maguire is best to just “get on with it” after being jeered by Three Lions fans.
He wrote on Twitter: “Harry’s biggest problem is not England fans, it’s his performances & future at Man Utd.
“He’s not the first person to be booed by a few [clown emoji] & won’t be the last so get on with it! Show some character, perform well & shut people up!!”
Adding in his Telegraph column, Carragher referenced former England stars who had also been booed on national team duty, but hit back with “world-class” performances at club level.
    Barnes on Maguire
There’s no chance of Harry Maguire leaving Man United to join Tottenham, according to John Barnes.
Barnes said to BonusCodeBets: “Harry Maguire will not be leaving Manchester United to go to a club that plays a back three like Tottenham. That’s a nonstarter.
“Maguire has played in back fours for the majority of his career and including for England.
“I don’t believe he [Maguire] plays better in a back three than a back four.
“When England played with a back four, he played well. His form has nothing to do with that.
“It is all to do with the protection he gets from the hard-working England players in front of him, whereas at United the front four don’t work hard enough to protect the defence.”
    Neville praises Chelsea
Gary Neville has praised Chelsea for managing to get good results on the pitch in spite of the chaos surrounding the club.
The Man United legend said on Sky Sports: “Firstly for the players and the manager, they have done unbelievably well in the last few weeks to carry on as they have done in winning all the games.
“That’s the first thing to say with the disruption and distraction that has gone on in the club.
“So, it tells you that when you have got a real strong manager and strong changing room which Chelsea have, you can withstand all the stuff that is going on externally and outside.”
Mills blames Keane for Maguire backlash
Danny Mills believes that “vicious” Roy Keane’s comments are partly to blame for fans booing Harry Maguire.
The former England right-back told talkSPORT: “Roy Keane has massive influence, unbelievable.
“Roy Keane says it, it’s gospel. I think when Roy Keane speaks we all sit up and listen.
“I think he’s got huge gravitas in the game, for what he’s achieved, for what he’s done and everything he’s gone through and achieved in the game.
“You do have to listen but he can be particularly vicious at times.
“No matter how he’s played, if Roy Keane says he’s had an absolute shocker and it’s disgraceful and he’s had a stinker we all go ‘well, he has done’, even without watching the game ourselves and going through it.
“We listen because it’s Roy Keane and he’s spoken so without seeing it as ourselves we take his opinion as gospel. Maybe we shouldn’t do that.”
    United and Liverpool clash set
Man United will take on bitter rivals Liverpool in Bangkok as part of a pre-season tour.
The game for the Centenary Cup will take place on July 12 at the Rajamangala stadium in the Thai capital.
The Red Devils will then fly to Australia for their first visit to Melbourne since 1999.
They will play at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground against local A-League team Melbourne Victory on July 15, and then Crystal Palace on July 19.
    Quieroz quits as Egypt boss
Carlos Queiroz has resigned as Egypt boss after failing to lead the African nation into the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
The Man United coach wrote on Twitter: “Dream is over. From the bottom of my heart, my gratitude to Egypt Federation for this honour of coaching the National Team.
“To all my players and my staff, my recognition and humble thank you so much,’ he added. ‘You will be always in my heart.
“It was my privilege to work and be helped by such dedicated and capable professionals and wonderful friends.
“Without you, nothing could be possible for me in my life, I am very much proud of you lads.
“My best wishes and enormous gratitude to all Egyptian fans. To the future.”
    Ron more record broken
Cristiano Ronaldo can break ANOTHER goal scoring record at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The 37-year-old is playing in his fifth World Cup having first been selected to represent Portugal in 2006.
And Ronaldo has scored in the four World Cups he has played in so far, putting him level with a select few football legends.
He is level with Pele, Uwe Seeler and Miroslav Klose, who have also scored at four separate World Cups.
This year, Ronaldo could make more history by becoming the first player to score in five editions of the tournament.
Ronaldo will also become just the fourth player to feature at five or more World Cups.
    Gary Neville on Arteta
Gary Neville has declared his admiration for Mikel Arteta but fears fourth spot in the Prem is the highest place he can take the North London side.
Speaking at a Sky Sports fan debate, he said: “I really like Mikel Arteta, I think he’s a brilliant coach. I think the team is fantastic in terms of the young players they’ve got.
“But it’s interesting when you’re in a cycle of a club and you depress the ambition and have a significant period of failure because you then get really happy about finishing fourth.
“I found myself saying that about Manchester United. But it’s because of a depressed ambition.
“I think Mikel Arteta is a good operator. My concern is if Arsenal finish fourth this season – which to be fair, I think is 50/50, I still think there’s a long way to in that race – but if they finish fourth, that’s in some ways as good as it gets.
“You’ve got Pep [Guardiola], [Jurgen] Klopp, Man United, Chelsea, where can Arsenal go? They’re not going to compete.”
    Man United are digital kings
Man United may be struggling to reach their previous heights on the pitch, but they have the biggest digital value in the world.
A new report into the digital value of fans shows the Old Trafford side are still a commercial powerhouse.
Researchers at Horizm found that Man Utd can create £177.5million from their audience across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube.
That was £27m more than Catalan giants Barcelona in second place (£150m) with Real Madrid a distant third on £97m.
The El Clasico rivals both have a bigger following than Man Utd.
Real Madrid’s total audience is 282million with Barcelona on 278m and the Red Devils on 179m.

    Gakpo to the Prem?
Man United have been linked with a summer move for PSV attacker Cody Gakpo.
The Red Devils need a replacement for the outgoing Edinson Cavani whose contract expires next season.
Plus, they’ll need a new hitman to provide the goals when Cristiano Ronaldo likely leaves the club the following season.
And according to Manchester Evening News, Gakpo could be the man to fill the void left by the pair.
Ajax boss Erik ten Hag whose in the frame to become United’s new manager could play a key role in recruiting Gakpo who has scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists this season.
However, Arsenal are also keen on the hot-shot striker.
‘Rice’s on Keane and Gerrard’s level’
Paul Ince has compared Man United transfer target Declan Rice to Steven Gerrard and Roy Keane.
Speaking after Rice’s dominant display for England against Ivory Coast this week, Ince said: “He’s got leadership qualities. Even the way he talks in interviews, you can see he has desires to be one of the best players in the world. You can see his game developing at West Ham.
“He’s now driving with the ball, making things happen. We talk about the [Steven] Gerrards, Keanes – box-to-box players. This kid is on the same level.”
    Gary Neville wants Glazers gone
Gary Neville has once again called on the Glazers to SELL Manchester United.
He said on the Overlap show: “They’ve proven they can’t do it, they’ve proven they can’t build a successful football club here in Manchester without being propped up by the team Sir Alex Ferguson had and himself being there.
“To me, at this moment in time, the first thing that should happen is they should sell the club.
“Because of the Super League, because of their ten years of failure without Sir Alex Ferguson, and the team and the squad he had, I think they should go.”
    Morning, United fans
United have already talked terms with Ajax for boss Erik ten Hag – but have suffered two transfer blows.
That’s the main gossip around Old Trafford this morning as Dutchman Ten Hag becomes an even firm favourite for the manager’s job this summer. The Red Devils reportedly face an increasingly tough task if they hope to land Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. But as United prepare for Saturday’s Premier League return at home to Leicester, the focus remains on the hunt to replace interim chief Ralf Rangnick.
It’s claimed the Red Devils have discussed finances and even a possible announcement date with Ajax over Ten Hag.
Publicly United insist their search for a permanent boss is still open.
But SunSport revealed Ten Hag came out way on top after the Old Trafford chiefs assessed detailed dossiers on all the candidates.
PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino is regarded as his only serious rival, although there was speculation yesterday over an outside contender – Spain chief Luis Enrique.
Meanwhile, Barcelona believe they can persuade Araujo to sort out his contract issues and stay.
And fellow Uruguayan Nunez, rated at £68m, is said to want a move only to a Champions League club.
Arsenal are also keen – so that’s another reason why United will hope to overhaul the Gunners for a top-four finish.
Finally, ex-England defender Jamie Carragher Has told Harry Maguire his main problem is his erratic United form for United, not the booing he received from some England fans.
Red Devils ‘sorting out Ten Hag compensation’
Manchester United have reportedly sounded out the compensation fee needed to prise Ajax boss Erik ten Hag away from the Johan Cruyff Arena, writes JAKE LAMBOURNE.
SunSport understands the Dutchman is the favourite to succeed interim Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford at the end of the season..
The 52-year-old was interviewed for the United job last week, though no offer has yet been sent to Ten Hag.
United’s failure to offer him a contract is said to have shocked the ex-FC Twente centre-back.
But according to Sky Sports, United have been gathering information as to what compensation figure Ajax would be seeking to part ways with Ten Hag.
They state that sources close to Ajax and Ten Hag have suggested that dialogue has taken place over the financial element of a potential move to Old Trafford.

The Frenchman currently earns £15m-a-year deal at United which works out as £290,000 a week.
Former club Juventus are believed to have been priced out of a move for him due to his salary.

However, despite his uncertain future, many United fans think today’s announcement is a clue that the midfielder will be staying put.

The Manchester United man professionally responded to the critics with a Twitter post which reads: “Enjoyable week playing for my country.”
Paul Pogba possible return to Juventus in the summer seems to have taken a massive blow.
It has been widely reported that the Italian giants cannot afford the midfield maestro’s huge wage demands which would rule out any potential deal.

Van de Beek offers to rent home for Ukraine refugees
Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has offered to rent a house for Ukraine refugees as they flee the deadly Russian invasion.
Van de Beek, 24, is on loan at Everton and reportedly keen to make the deal a permanent one.
The Dutchman is due back at Old Trafford in the summer, with three years still to run on his Red Devils contract.

Toffees team-mate Vitaliy Mykolenko told UA Tribuna of Van de Beek’s generous offer.
The Ukrainian said: “Donny van de Beek, a world-class player, approaches me and says: ‘I want to rent a house for people, whether in the Netherlands or in Poland.
‘We will take them from the border, settle them, pay for it'”.
Mykolenko joined in January from Dynamo Kyiv and has played six games, including the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Boreham Wood where he was named captain.
He has made 21 appearances for his country and is “grateful” for all the support he has been shown at the Merseyside club since the devastating war began.
The 22-year-old said: “I don’t know how to thank these people. Everyone came up and asked how my family was, my friends.
“On the second day the head coach came up and said: ‘if you need a rest, if you need time, take your time’. I am grateful to the club for its support from all sides.
“The administrator in charge of the equipment said: ‘I know what your situation is. I understand how difficult it is for you. Come to us for dinner’.
“A physiotherapist came up and said: ‘I have a room, a bed for two people. Those who have nowhere to live, we are ready to shelter them’. I am pleasantly shocked. Honestly I’m shocked”.
Dortmund tip Erling to go if £100m bid comes in
Erling Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer if a significant offer is made, according to the club’s CEO.
The Manchester City, United, Real Madrid and Barcelona target is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe.

The goal machine has been on top form this season, with 29 goal contributions in 23 games.
City are reportedly “very optimistic” about striking a deal with the German side for Haaland and would expect to pay around £100million.
And Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted that the club will not be able to keep him if a big money offer is made.
Hammers tipped to keep Utd & Chelsea target Rice
West Ham legend Julian Dicks believes “level-headed” Declan Rice will stay at the club this summer IF investment is made in the squad, writes JOSHUA MBU.
Mainstay England international Rice is attracting interest from a number of the Premier League’s elite.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly all keeping an eye on the midfielder’s progress.

The 23-year-old’s defensive capabilities as well as his ball-playing qualities has made him one of the most highly sought-after players in the league.
But if one of the Big Six are to get their hands on Rice this summer, they’ll have to pay West Ham’s deterrent demand of £150million.
There is also a chance Rice stays at West Ham beyond this summer if David Moyes is backed in the transfer market. And Hammers icon Dicks says the club need to match Rice’s ambition.
Speaking to SunSport on how West Ham can keep Rice ahead of a Masters Football event in association with Bookmakers.com, Dicks said: “If they have ambition, then they need to keep their best players.
“Obviously Declan’s the best player there, he’s captain, but they have to invest in the team
“It’s no good expecting Declan to stay at West Ham if they’re not going to invest. They need to spend, probably around £100m-plus to keep him there because football now is not about making money – they earn enough now.”
    Dirk hails Utd target Erik
Erik ten Hag has the tools to succeed as Manchester United manager, according to former Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt.
Speaking to Goal, he said: “Ten Hag is a great, experienced coach. He’s done his apprenticeship, if you like, with Bayern Munich’s second team, then Utrecht and now at Ajax.
“He is a great manager who has improved himself so much, on and off the pitch.
‘I know some people were doubting his level of speaking English, his performance in front of the camera.
“But you see him growing every week as a manager, and I think he can do a great job at any top side in Europe.
“His tactics, his way of thinking about football, is very interesting, and it would be great if he was to get an opportunity at a top side.”
    Prem set for five subs
Premier League clubs are set to finally agree to introduce five substitutes at a meeting today.
The idea had been fiercely resisted by clubs outside the Big Six.
Three attempts to make the change, introduced for the resumption of the Covid-interrupted 2019-20 season, to part of the formal Prem rulebook, were defeated by a rebellion of the smaller clubs.

But after football’s lawmakers, the International Football Association Board, confirmed a permanent adoption of five substitutes from June 1, another vote will be held by the 20 clubs today.
And Prem chiefs expect the proposal to be accepted in principle to be formally adopted for next season at the annual general meeting in June.
A key factor in the U-turn is the support for the idea from players, captains and managers who agreed that player fatigue was an issue that needed to be addressed.
    Kane backs Maguire
Harry Kane is the latest England star to slam fans who booed Harry Maguire before and during the friendly win over the Ivory Coast.
Now captain Kane has followed team-mates Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice in blasting sections of home support who lambasted the centre-half.
The Tottenham striker tweeted: “We’ve worked hard to rebuild our connection with @England fans in the last few years so to hear @HarryMaguire93 booed at Wembley before kick off was just not right.
“The fact that he’s been brilliant on the pitch and given us all so many great memories makes it even harder to understand.
“He doesn’t deserve that reception. He’s got full support in the changing room and should have the same from every England fan.”
    Keane slams Southgate
Roy Keane has slammed Gareth Southgate’s response to Harry Maguire being booed by his own fans at Wembley last night.

Speaking on ITV, he said: “Every player gets booed. There is going to be idiots at football matches – England have a lot of idiots.
“Gareth could have easily said tonight ‘it is no big deal’. He actually played well tonight, just focus on that.”
Prem giants and Bayern chase Nkunku
Bayern Munich could make a move for Red Bull Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku if their star man Serge Gnabry decides to leave the Bavarian giants.
The 24-year-old is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea, but now the pair face competition from Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
According to German publication SPORT1, Bayern are reportedly considering a move for the French midfielder if ex-Arsenal man Gnabry refuses to sign a new deal at the club.
It is also reported that it would take a huge salary increase for Nkunku to remain in Leipzig beyond his current deal.
The reported fee to bring the talented French winger to the Allianz Arena is £59million.

And he told Jamie Redknapp for the Daily Mail: “There would be no point in me going back to United and just sitting on the bench.
“I want to play and feel I’m better equipped for the Premier League after this experience.
“Whether it’s at United or somewhere else, we’ll deal with that in the summer. But I’ve got a job to do here at Norwich.”

Middlesbrough star Djed Spence has put Premier League sides on red alert after admitting that he wants a move to the top-tier division.
Spence has impressed on loan with Nottingham Forest this season.
And his stellar performances at right-back have caught several Prem sides’ attention – including Man United and Arsenal.

“Of course it’s an ambition of mine to play in the Premier League. I try to stay level-headed. I don’t read too much into it.”

    Haaland to City?
Man City are confident they will beat Real Madrid in the race for Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland, reports suggest.
According to Sports Illustrated, however, the Citizens are “very optimistic” the star striker will prefer them and ultimately sign for his father Alf-Inge’s former club.
The Norway international will be available for a bargain £64million deal ahead of this summer.
But City are lining up a swoop worth a total of £100m to complete the biggest signing of the year.

Fiorentina are reportedly interested in a loan deal with a clause of £8million if they wish to make the deal permanent.
    Cavani injury blow

Cavani was replaced by Luis Suarez, who went on to score in the late stages of the game.

Keane said: “I think Gareth has made it a bigger story than what it is. Every player gets booed. There’s going to be idiots at football matches. England fans have got a lot of idiots.

    Harry Maguire breaks silence
Harry Maguire has broken his silence after being booed while playing for England last night.

His first touches during the 3-0 win itself were also met by jeers.
Maguire appears to have blocked out the criticism, however, making no reference to it in a tweet this morning.
Accompanied by a picture of him playing last night, he wrote on Twitter: “Enjoyable week playing for my country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️”
    Chelsea join Real’s Gnabry chase
Chelsea’s pursuit of Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry has been dealt a blow as Real Madrid ace David Alaba is trying to lure his former team-mate to the Santiago Bernabeu, reports suggest.
Alaba and Gnabry spent four years together at Bayern and formed a strong friendship before the former’s departure to Real last year.
According to reports in Germany, the Austria international is campaigning for a reunion with the ex-Arsenal ace, whose impressive performances have attracted Los Blancos’ interest.
However, contact between the Madrid giants and the Germany international’s representatives is “loose”.
And Gnabry, whose contract runs out in 2023, appears to be more keen on renewing with Bayern, who are desperate to tie him down to a new deal, as he doesn’t want to leave this summer.
If Real do go after Gnabry in the summer then they will be facing intense competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, such as Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and of course Chelsea.
    Henderson backs Maguire against boo-boys
Jordan Henderson blasted the England fans who mercilessly booed Harry Maguire.
Some supporters continued to target Maguire whenever he touched the ball throughout the game.

And his Liverpool counterpart quickly jumped to his defence with a strong message on social media.

And the Red Devils legend thinks the left-back is lucky to even be in the England squad.
Shaw scored in the Three Lions’ 2-1 comeback win against Switzerland.
He then revealed how he felt “wanted” when on international duty and is able to “play with a smile on my face”.
But Parker – who spent five years at Old Trafford and earned 19 England caps – hit out at the defender, who is always willing to speak honestly to the media.
The outspoken ex-defender said: “Shaw’s comments were wrong if I’m being honest.
“Everyone would have seen that as smug and a dig about what’s going on at Manchester United.
“When you look at his situation then you can come out and say that he’s not playing for United as he hasn’t been consistently good enough.
“It’s as simple as that. You’ve not been doing what you’re supposed to be doing.”

Declan Rice tipped for England captaincy
West Ham legend Julian Dicks says he would be “very surprised” if Man Utd target Declan Rice doesn’t captain England in the future.
Dicks was a Hammers coach under Slaven Bilic when a then 18-year-old Rice was handed his Premier League debut in the 2-1 win over Burnley in 2017.
Rice’s exemplary leadership both on and off the pitch has stretched further than just Rush Green and the London Stadium.
Hammers icon Dicks too believes that Rice’s day of leading the Three Lions will come.
Speaking to SunSport on whether he thinks Rice will be a future England captain ahead of a Masters Football event in association with Bookmakers.com, Dicks said: “Absolutely. I was a coach at West Ham when Slav gave him his debut.
“The easiest thing I can say about Declan is he just keeps everything simple.
“He wins the ball and gives it simple.
“I did the Man Utd vs West Ham game at Old Trafford (this season).
“And even though West Ham got beat, Declan was immense, and I mean head and shoulders above everybody else on that pitch, in my opinion.
“He won every ball. Where the ball was he won it and he’d just give it.
“So yeah, I’d be very surprised if he wasn’t an England captain in the future.”
    Lopetegui out of United running
Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has ruled himself out of contention for the Manchester United job after declaring his commitment to the LaLiga club.
The Spanish coach has been on United’s shortlist in their search for a new manager, although has rarely been considered a favourite in the same manner as Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino.
And any chance of a shock Old Trafford appointment have surely ended today after the 55-year-old confirmed that his desire is to remain at Sevilla.
He told ABC de Sevilla: “My decision is clear. I want to stay here at Sevilla. I’ve no doubt.”

    Varane eases concerns over injury
Manchester United fans have breathed a collective sigh of relief after Raphael Varane confirmed he was fully fit despite an injury forcing him off in France’s game with Ivory Coast on Friday.
The centre-back was removed by Didier Deschamps as a precaution after 57 minutes, and the national coach afterwards confirmed the player had a ‘small problem in his foot.’
Immediately, watching Red Devils fearing a repeat of the injury that Varane picked up on international duty in October that kept him out for three games.
However, the 28-year-old has since eased those concerns and revealed he is contention for tonight’s game with South Africa.
Speaking to RMC Sport yesterday, Varane said: “I’m at 100% for tomorrow. It was a hit, but it was just painful.”
    Leeds tracking United starlet Garner
Leeds United have been keeping a close eye on young Manchester United ace James Garner during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old has impressed at the City Ground this season, and has been a key factor in their rise up the Championship table and their run to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Set-piece expert Garner has struck three goals and provided six assist in 36 appearances for Forest, and has earned praise for his performances from the likes of Roy Keane and Jurgen Klopp.
The Elland Road club are unlikely to prise Garner away from Old Trafford permanently, but the Red Devils may consider another season out on loan in order to continue the player’s development.
    Southgate defends Maguire call-up
Gareth Southgate has leapt to the defence of Harry Maguire after he was asked whether the centre-back is deserving of his place in the current England squad.
Maguire is expected to start against Ivory Coast at Wembley this evening, and Southgate has indicated he had no hesitation in selecting the 29-year-old despite his indifferent form for Manchester United.
The Three Lions boss said: “[Harry Maguire] has got us to a World Cup semi-final and a European Championship final so there’s no doubt he’s more than capable of playing at the highest level.
“He was very good for us in the autumn. [Manchester United] are in a difficult moment, and there could be any number of reasons for that.”
However, Southgate also suggested that players continually out-of-form for their clubs would be in danger of missing out so long as there are suitable replacements available.
“It doesn’t mean that players can be poor for a couple of years and then still find their way in. Sometimes it depends on competition for positions.
“We’ve obviously had some forward players out who haven’t been in good form, but there’s direct, experienced replacements for those players so it is a complicated decision.”

    Ralf’s ref suggestion has backing
Referees could begin training with Premier League clubs from next season – thanks to a proposal put forward by Manchester United interim gaffer Ralf Rangnick.
The Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan reports that the German coach raised the idea at a recent two-day summit between top-flight managers and referees’ boss Mike Riley.
The theory behind the suggestion is that the move would allow for a closer relationship between officials and players, and ‘break down negative preconceptions’ that may be in place.
Rangnick’s proposition is said to have been met by widespread backing, and will now be considered by PGMOL.
    Antony to follow Erik’s footsteps
Erik ten Hag wants to make Antony his first signing in the summer – if he lands the Manchester United manager’s job.
The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for Ajax this season, contributing with 12 goals and ten assists from wide on the right.
Indeed, the Brazilian has impressed so much that Ten Hag wants to take the youngster to Old Trafford with him to begin a major squad overhaul at the club.
It was reported yesterday that United hope to bring in a new right winger despite the big-money purchase of Jadon Sancho last year, and The Telegraph now believe that it’s £30m-rated Antony that fits the bill.
    Red Devils want Porto’s Otavio
Manchester United are one of three Premier League clubs closely monitoring Porto star Otavio.
The 27-year-old is enjoying the best season of his career, and has been a key factor in his side’s six-point lead at the top of Primeira Liga.
The attacking midfielder, who can operate on either flank, has scored five goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions this term.
His recent performances at club level earned him his first international caps with Portugal, for whom he has scored twice in three games.
According to A Bola, Otavio’s release fee is €60million although United will be hopeful of landing the player for considerably less than that.

    Good morning Man Utd fans
Manchester United stars Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are primed for England duty in tonight’s friendly against Ivory Coast.
Both defenders took part in training for the Three Lions yesterday and look ready for the friendly clash at Wembley.
Maguire was an unused sub in Saturday’s 2-1 clash with Switzerland but Shaw started and scored the equaliser as England came from behind to win 2-1.
They might return to Old Trafford to find their Red Devils team-mate Bruno Fernandez has agreed a new deal.
United news outlet @UtdPlug says “it will be announced in the coming days”.
Portugal playmaker Fernandez, 27, has been a key man for the Red Devils since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2020.
Meanwhile, United’s understudy keeper Dean Henderson admits loan spells at lower league clubs have been vital to his development.
The 25-year-old star joined United’s Academy as a 14-year-old and has had temporary spells at Stockport, Grimsby, Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United.
He told Manchester United’s website: “If I didn’t [go out on loan], I’d probably be in League One now, just going out on my first loan.
“I fought for it and I stand by it, the best decision of my life.”
And there is likely to have been some nostalgia stirred among the club’s fans after they saw a United game with Rooney and Ronaldo on the scoresheet on Sunday.
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr and Kai Ronney both scored for their Under-12s against West Brom.
They are the sons of Red Devils legends and former United team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
    Ferdinand hits back at Rooney
Rio Ferdinand has had his say on Wayne Rooney calling him ‘arrogant’.
The pair played together for an incredibly successful Manchester United side between 2004 and 2014.
At a speaking event this week, Wazza joked Ferdinand was a ‘top player’ but ‘arrogant’ and ‘sometimes did forget he was a defender.’
On his YouTube show Vibe with Five, Ferdinand explained he and Rooney had often bickered during matches as a way of getting the best out of each other.
He said: “If the ball came up and he weren’t holding it up I’d be screaming, ‘Wazza hurry up’.
“He would go, expletive, ‘you do your own job’, and we’d be back and forth constant – but we drove each other.”
    United duo ready for England
Manchester United stars Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire look ready for England duty in Tuesday’s friendly against Ivory Coast.
Both defenders took part in training for the Three Lions today and look ready for the friendly clash at Wembley.
Maguire was an unused sub in Saturday’s 2-1 clash with Switzerland but Shaw started and scored the equaliser as England came from behind to win 2-1.
    Butt: Pochettino’s United’s best option
Manchester United legend Nicky Butt would like to see Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino come in as the Red Devils’ next permanent manager.
Butt told FourFourTwo: “I’d go all-out to get Mauricio Pochettino as manager.
“He’s proven in the Premier League, he’s young and enthusiastic, his style of play would suit United and his backroom staff seem switched on.
“I met him a couple of times at Spurs’ training ground and had lunch. You’d want to play for him.”
    Fernandes ‘set for new deal’
Bruno Fernandez is about to agree a new contract extension with Manchester United, according to reports.
United news outlet @UtdPlug says ‘it will be announced in the coming days’.

    Parker says United lack matchwinners
Manchester United legend Paul Parker believes the club only have two matchwinners in their current squad – and neither is Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to OddsNinja, he said: “United haven’t got the individuals like we talk about at the club many years ago. They definitely haven’t got it.”
He went on to name forward Anthony Elanga and keeper David de Gea as the only matchwinners in United’s squad.
He added: “Other than that really, there isn’t really anybody you’d name, who can go and grab hold of the game and get United over the line.”
    United legends’ sons both score
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr and Kai Ronney both scored for Manchester United Under-12s against West Brom on Sunday.
They are the sons of Red Devils legends and former United team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
Our nice report points out: “Fans can be forgiven for getting a little nostalgic, after seeing a United game with Rooney and Ronaldo on the scoresheet.”
    United fifth favourites for Raphinha
Manchester United are fifth favourites to sign Leeds superstar Raphinha, according to the bookies.
Sky Bet have the Red Devils priced at 7/4 to beat a host of other top European clubs to the signature of the Brazilian if he leaves Elland Road.
The frontrunners are Spanish giants Barcelona at 7/4, followed by German powerhouses Bayern Munich at 7/1.
    Cascarino calls Rashford ‘not clinical’
Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino says Marcus Rashford is ‘not clinical’ enough to lead the line for Arsenal.
United forward Rashford is reportedly a transfer target for Mikel Arteta’s Champions League-chasing Gunners.
Cascarino told talkSPORT: “I’m not sure if Marcus is a solution for Arsenal because Marcus is not clinical.
“He doesn’t particularly lead the line well and that’s one of the two traits you need if you’re going to play in an Arteta team.”
    Henderson makes honest loan admission
Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson admits loan spells at lower league clubs have been vital to his development.
The 25-year-old star joined United’s Academy as a 14-year-old and has had temporary spells at Stockport, Grimsby, Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United.
He told Manchester United’s website: “[There] are the things you learn and move on. It was great for me. It’s why I’m sitting here today.
“If I didn’t [go out on loan], I’d probably be in League One now, just going out on my first loan. I fought for it and I stand by it, the best decision of my life.”
Van Gaal issues Ten Hag warning
Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has issued a public warning to Erik ten Hag – advising him against taking the Old Trafford job.
Ajax boss Ten Hag is the bookies favourite to fill the United hot seat after holding a promising first interview with the club last week.
However, Van Gaal, now manager of the Dutch national team, has offered his compatriot a word of caution by criticising United’s off-field hierarchy.
Dutch media outlet AD report Van Gaal as saying: “I think Erik ten Hag is a great coach, he has shown that several times – and a great coach is always good for Manchester United.”
“Manchester United is a commercial club and those are difficult choices for a coach. It is better to go to a football club.
“I’m not going to supervise his career and he will call me himself. But he should choose a football club, not a commercial club.”

No Real deal for Tchouameni – yet
Premier League pair Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a boost by the news that – contrary to reports – Aurelien Tchouameni has not agreed to sign for Real Madrid.
Spanish media had claimed a deal had been done, but Tchouameni’s agent insists that no such move has been confirmed.
The two English clubs have been monitoring the 22-year-old’s development at Monaco, and both see the player as the ideal midfielder to build their side around for years to come.
However, Madrid remain very interested despite the press jumping the gun, as do Ligue 1 big-spenders Paris Saint-Germain.
Tchouameni scored his first international goal for France on Friday, heading home a stoppage time winner against Ivory Coast.

United planning Shaw and Rashford talks
Manchester United are planning to enter discussions with Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford over new contracts, according to ESPN’S Rob Dawson.
The future of the England pair had been considered uncertain with both underperforming this season, and seemingly unhappy with life at Old Trafford.
Yet the duo ‘are considered part of a key group of core players that United want to keep’ ahead of a significant squad overhaul in the summer.
The current deals of both players are due to expire in June 2023.

    United capture teen ace Toby
Manchester United have completed the signing of England youth star Toby Collyer from Brighton.
The 18-year-old midfielder has penned a three-and-a-half year contract with the Red Devils.
Collyer impressed Old Trafford chiefs during a recent trial and shone for their U23s in a match against Huddersfield.
Now he has committed his long-term future to United after they beat a host of Premier League rivals – including Chelsea – to his signature.
The youngster, who can also play as a centre-back, played 25 matches for Brighton’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides last season.
    Rooney’s strong words for Rashford
Wayne Rooney has offered some old school advice to Marcus Rashford as he urged the out-of-form star to break his Manchester United record.
Rooney made a whopping 559 appearances for United during his playing career, eventually overtaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s tally to become the club all-time top scorer with 253 goals.
Now he has backed his 24-year-old pal Rashford to ‘f***ing get his head out of his a**e’ so that he will go on and surpass him.
The United ace burst onto the scene in 2016 towards the end of Rooney’s stay at Old Trafford and appeared to have the world at his feet.
However, this term the England international’s form and confidence appear to have dropped dramatically – and the player has since suggested that he’s frustrated with life at Old Trafford.
Speaking at a black tie event in Manchester, Rooney said: “I hope that Marcus Rashford f***ing gets his head out of his a**e and goes and breaks that record. He’s a Manchester lad.”
    Midfielders also on United agenda
Manchester United also want to sign two midfielders the summer – further fuelling the belief that Paul Pogba will depart Old Trafford.
The Athletic suggest that the Red Devils want to bring in a pair of central players – one offensive and one defensive – in order to strengthen that area of their squad.
Newcomers would present midfield competition for Fred and Scott McTominay, and will help to cover the gap left by Pogba’s expected exit.
The French international is out of contract in June, and has shown little interest in penning a new deal with United.
The Athletic also believe that right wing is another position being targeted by United chiefs, despite last summer’s signing of Jadon Sancho.
    Rooney response once was blue
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed he told Sir Alex Ferguson to ‘f*** off’ when he tried to sign him aged 14.
The Derby gaffer, now 36, has stated he only had eyes for Everton after being approached by the Red Devils’ legendary manager.
In an exclusive, Rooney told The Sun: “Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign me when I was 14. He was on the phone to my mum and dad.
“They said, ‘Alex is on the phone, Manchester United want to sign you’.
“I said, ‘Tell him to f*** off. I want to play for Everton’.
“Then as time went on, I knew I had to play for Alex Ferguson. The reason I signed for United was Alex Ferguson.”
Rooney admits he couldn’t resist the lure of United a second time. He eventually joined them in 2004, and went on to become the club’s all-time top scorer.
    United set sights on Kane
Manchester United want to bring a stellar striker to the club in the summer – and Harry Kane is at the top of their list.
The Athletic understand that Old Trafford officials are seriously considering an approach for Kane after holding initial talks with Tottenham back in July.
The Red Devils will require attacking reinforcements with Edinson Cavani destined to leave, Mason Greenwood unavailable indefinitely following his arrest, and question marks over the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Spurs chief Daniel Levy refused to play ball with Manchester City last summer, but may now consider moving the 28-year-old forward on for big money with his contract ticking down.
Kane, who took his goal tally with England to 49 on Saturday, has only two more years to run on his current deal.

    United still keen on Luis
Luis Enrique is still considered ‘a genuine contender’ for the Manchester United job despite Erik ten Hag emerging as the clear favourite.
The Express report that the Red Devils remain extremely interested in bringing the Spain coach to Old Trafford, whose role with the national team would not require a hefty compensation package.
However, the situation is made more complex by the timing of this year’s winter World Cup.
It is understood that Enrique wants to lead La Roja through the finals in Qatar, meaning he would not be available to start in the Premier League until January.
United, on the other hand, want their new manager named ahead of this summer, such is the overhaul expected at the club.

    Good Morning Man Utd fans
Erik ten Hag is claimed to be “surprised” that he has not been formally offered a contract by Manchester United yet.
The Mirror report Ten Hag is “stunned” that terms haven’t been proposed to him following his interview last week.
Ajax chief Ten Hag is not thought to be concerned about money – and had been expecting to be offered a deal soon after talks concluded.
United are said to have interviewed two other candidates, as well as Ten Hag, for the position.
Speaking on the United We Stand podcast, Andy Mitten confirmed discussions have been held with three bosses.
Elsewhere Paul Pogba has admitted he is “sad” that Manchester United have failed to win a trophy for five years.
He told Telefoot: “I want to win titles, to play for something and this year and the last few years we haven’t won a title. It’s sad.
“The season is not over yet, but almost because we don’t have any more titles to play for.”
And interim boss Ralf Rangnick could be without Pogba for Leicester’s visit this Saturday.
RTL France claim the midfielder missed national team training on Sunday with a “foot contusion.”
But in a double injury blow Raphael Varane could also be unavailable.
The centre-back was forced to come off in France’s 2-1 win over Ivory Coast on Friday with a foot injury, and although Varane did train on Sunday, it was only a “special session.”
Neither of the injuries are thought to be serious, but it’s still sure to give Rangnick an unwanted headache.
Connolly – Too many statements from Utd stars
Former Premier League player David Connolly has claimed Manchester United’s stars should not be “making that many statements on social media” after defeats.
A number of United’s squad have posted lengthy messages across the course of the season, vowing to improve matters at Old Trafford.
But Speaking to Off The Ball, Connolly said: “I took a lot of criticism when I was playing and I think at times it’s unfortunate but it’s par for the course, whether it’s from the media, newspapers or journalists, shows like this, tons of fans.
“You accept it and you accept it because you’re playing football, you know you have done so well to be able to play football, you accept that it’s part and parcel of it.
“In there somewhere I guess is a middle ground that you have to find and I don’t think Marcus or too many other players should be making that many statements on social media.
“Certainly you can’t apologise incessantly for all your failings in every regard.”
    United manager interviews continue
Manchester United have reportedly interviewed THREE candidates for the managerial role.
Erik ten Hag held discussions last week over the role.
