    Chelsea up Dembele chase
Chelsea are reportedly ready to offer summer transfer target Ousmane Dembele improved terms.
The winger is out of contract at Barcelona come the end of June and can join another club for free.
A number of Europe’s elite including Chelsea and Man Utd are keen on the Frenchman.
But according to Fichajes, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has requested the club to complete the signing of Dembele.
Comment: Rangnick exit ends one of the oddest chapters
While Liverpool and Real Madrid were parading trophies, days after Manchester City had done the same, Manchester United were announcing the severance of all ties with Ralf Rangnick.
And with barely so much as a ‘See you later, innovator’.
Manchester United, surely you remember them? They used to win titles. Even after that, they still topped the Deloitte Football Money League.
And they still ‘do great numbers’ on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
In the actual football, not so much. Under Rangnick, United finished with six successive away defeats, an overall goal difference of zero and conceded a 35-point deficit to champions City.
When Rangnick was appointed interim manager in November, United’s ‘football director’ John Murtough heralded him as “one of the most respected coaches and innovators in European football”.
He also announced that Rangnick would take up a two-year consultancy after his caretaking was complete.
That consultancy role has now been scrapped, with Rangnick taking over Austria’s national job.
Instead, we’re told Rangnick held a two-hour ‘handover’ conversation on the phone with his successor, Erik ten Hag.
    Dybala fight
Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to get one over Manchester United by beating his old club to Paulo Dybala.
TyC Sports claims The Special One has made contact with Juventus’ out-of-contract forward about a free transfer to Roma.
Dybala’s seven-year stint in Turin comes to an end next month.
And the Argentina international, 28, has been flooded with offers from the Premier League.
New Man United boss Erik ten Hag is thought to be a huge fan.
And Spurs boss Antonio Conte also rates Dybala after going up against him at Inter Milan.
    Henderson ‘good choice’ for Newcastle
Jose Enrique reckons Man Utd’s Dean Henderson is a “good choice” for Newcastle.
The Keeper could be available on loan this summer.
Enrique told Genting Casino: I would definitely sign Dean Henderson. I’ve said I like him a lot in the past. He’s a great goalkeeper.
“Dubravka is doing well but Henderson would be a good fit in the long run and Newcastle’s back-ups aren’t good enough at the moment.
“Henderson will be looking for a move too as with the form De Gea is in now, he’s not going to play.”
Utd’s new 2022-23 away kit leaked
Manchester United’s away kit for the 2022/23 season has reportedly been leaked with fans gushing over the white shirt and black shorts combination.
The Red Devils spent last season wearing a second strip which consisted of a shirt with a geometric blue print and blue shorts.
But for the upcoming campaign Man Utd are set to strip things back with a simple kit design.
According to Footy Headlines, their away jersey will be white and accustomed by black shorts and white socks.
The white is a throwback to their away strip in 2015/16 and even their third kit from 2009/10 to 2011/12.

    Ronaldo biggest export
Manchester United’s biggest sale to date remains Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2009 transfer to Real Madrid.

United contact with Watford over keeper
Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann has revealed Manchester United have made an approach for him
The Austrian international said he is honoured by the prospect of becoming David de Gea’s understudy at Old Trafford next season.
Bachmann, 27, also said he received DEATH THREATS during the season as Watford headed towards relegation from the Premier League.
Former United interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who has now left to coach Austria’s national side, is thought to have been behind the move for the keeper.
Bachmann said: “There has been contact with Manchester United.  It hasn’t just fallen out of the sky. I don’t know whether the team boss [Rangnick] has a say in transfer matters.
“Several clubs have shown interest in me – but the most intensive contacts have come from Manchester. It is a massive honour for a club like that to be interested in you.
“I would be second choice behind David de Gea, who has been one of the Premier League’s best keepers for years.
“But anything can happen in football.  The performance principle applies. As a result, even big stars can sit on the subs’ bench.”
    Boost with Leeds star Raphinha
Raphinha wants to join Leeds’ arch-rivals Manchester United instead of Barcelona, reports claim.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road after playing a mjor role in keeping the Whites up.
Raphinha chipped in with 11 goals and three assists from 35 Premier League games to help Leeds beat the drop on the final game of the campaign.
Should the Yorkshire outfit have been relegated, the ex-Rennes ace would have been available for £21million due to a clause in his contract.
But it is believed that the forward will now cost in excess of £40m following their 2-1 win against Brentford.
The figure hasn’t put off Barcelona, with the Blaugrana still prepared to bring the player to the Nou Camp.
    United wage bill
Cristiano Ronaldo is Man Utd’s highest earner.

Man Utd ‘very close’ on Nunez transfer
Erik ten Hag looks set to secure the first signing of his reign at Manchester United with 22-year-old Darwin Nunez, according to reports.
An agreement between United and Benfica is said to be ‘very close’ for the striker according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
The report claims Nunez is a ‘priority’ target for Ten Hag as he tries to find a striker to bolster The Red Devils in attack.
Nunez scored 34 goals in all competitions this season for The Eagles as they came third in the Primeira Liga in Portugal and progressed into the Champions League quarter-finals.
Perhaps the most striking metric Nunez can boast though is his colossal Expected Goals over-performance in the league this season.
Nunez struck 26 times in 28 games from an xG rating of just 15.73, meaning he scored nearly 11 more goals than an average striker would have.
United not good enough for Rice, says Johnson
Glen Johnson claims that Declan Rice should only leave West Ham for a team challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The former West Ham defender spoke to Bettingodds about the England international’s future.
Johnson said: “I don’t think that he will end up at Manchester United and no disrespect to Manchester United because it’s a fantastic club and I’m sure they’ll come back and fight for titles in the coming years but City and Liverpool are absolutely miles ahead of anyone at the moment and I’m sure they’d want Declan as well.
“Why would you go to a team that isn’t going to compete for the league next season?
“If he goes to Liverpool or City then he’s going to win something next season. I can’t believe that Manchester United would be his first pick.”
    Man United release Rangnick statement
Man United have also confirmed Rangnick’s departure from the club.
A club statement read: “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months.
“By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.
“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”
    Ronaldo forces training changes
Cristiano Ronaldo has forced changes at Manchester United’s training ground after complaining about the state of its swimming pool, reports claim.
The Portuguese returned to the Red Devils last summer, only to be left shocked by the state of Carrington.
It’s claimed that the 37-year-old couldn’t believe the condition that United’s HQ had been allowed to fall into.
And he reportedly returned feeling that no upgrades had been made since his initially left for Real Madrid in 2009.
According to the Mirror, Ronaldo’s main gripe was with the state of the swimming pools at Carrington.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner complained that “loose, chipped and missing tiles” within the pools were a safety hazard – and refused to use them.
Ronaldo even made sure to have an indoor pool at home in order to still be able to perform water-based drills.
United have taken their No7’s criticisms onboard, and have ordered work to be completed on the pools in order to get them ready for pre-season.
    Tchouameni blow
Aurelien Tchouameni has confessed his love for both Liverpool and Real Madrid – in a blow to Manchester United.
The highly sought-after Frenchman gave his take on both Champions League finalists before they faced off in France.
In what could be seen as a blow to Man United, they were not mentioned as the 22-year-old spoke publicly about his future.
The Monaco midfielder is being chased by the biggest teams in Europe after months of impressive performances.
And when asked about joining either Liverpool or Real Madrid ahead of the Champions League final, he told CNN: “I like both: I can watch Spanish games and English games.
“It’s different to play in Spain and it’s different to play in England, but at the end, for me, it’s just a matter of adaptation.”
Gareth Bale transfer odds – Man Utd at 20/1
Gareth Bale is leaving Real Madrid – and Betfair think he’s heading back to the UK with Cardiff.
Bale collected a winners medal after Saturday’s Champions League success over Liverpool at the Stade de France in Paris.
And that was undoubtedly his last action for Los Blancos after agent Jonathan Barnett confirmed his client would leave the Bernabeu after a turbulent eight-year spell.
The 32-year-old has barely featured this season, making just four starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions.

His departure has been inevitable for months given his contract expires in June.
However, a future in football or early retirement hinges on whether or not Wales qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Barnett recently told Portuguese outlet Record: “Gareth is leaving Real Madrid, but we have to wait for what Wales do. Is it more likely to return to England? I think so, but we’ll have to wait and see if Wales qualify.”

Ronaldo SURPASSED expectations this season, says Berbatov
Dimitar Berbatov says the “stats prove” Cristiano Ronaldo was a success at Manchester United this season – despite the club’s disappointing campaign, writes James Colasanti.
The Portugal striker still bagged 24 goals for United in all competitions – 18 in the league – and almost single-handedly dragged the club into the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
And his former Red Devils striker partner Berbatov says – taking everything into account – 37-year-old Ronaldo’s return can only be viewed as a success.

The retired Bulgaria forward, 41, told Betfair: “I have been asked a lot of times about him, and every time I have said the same thing.
“He is bringing goals, bringing experience, helping the young talent and knowing just how to play the game.
“He is also smart about the way he plays and what he brings to the table.
“It doesn’t matter how old he is and he has proven that.
“He is playing in the Premier League — the best league in the world — and he has scored 24 goals overall at 37-years-old. Come on – the guy is unbelievable.”
Raphinha wants to join Man Utd, according to reports
Raphinha wants to join Leeds’ arch-rivals Manchester United instead of Barcelona, reports claim.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road after playing a mjor role in keeping the Whites up.

It is believed that the forward will now cost in excess of £40m following their 2-1 win against Brentford.

And according to the Daily Express, Raphinha may favour a switch to Old Trafford should he decide to depart Leeds.
They claim that Bruno Fernandes could be key in Raphinha’s decision, with the pair playing together for a year at Sporting Lisbon.
Raphinha opened up on their excellent relationship last year during an article he wrote for The Players’ Tribune.
    Southgate on Man United pair
Man United duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho must win over new manager Erik ten Hag quickly in order to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
That is the message from Gareth Southgate, who has left the pair out of his England squad again.
Asked if the forwards still had a chance of forcing their way back in, Southgate said: “They do because I think there’s enough of a block of games at the beginning of next season that people can still play their way in.
“Of course it’s more difficult — you know, the closer we get, the more difficult it is.
“But they’ve got to start playing well with their club. Neither of them have really played at the end of the season.
England is a consequence of what you’re doing at your club and you’ve got to get your club bit right.
“Compared to others in those positions that we’ve picked, their level hasn’t been at the level of the others.”
    Januzaj and Monreal released
Man Utd and Arsenal cult heroes Adnan Januzaj and Nacho Monreal have been let go by Real Sociedad.
The pair both joined the Spanish club after leaving United and Arsenal in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
According to Fabrizio Romano, both players are being released by Sociedad after their contracts were not renewed.
Monreal, 36, suffered a severe knee injury before the start of the season and consequently missed the entirety of the season.
Meanwhile, Januzaj, 27, played 44 times for Sociedad this season contributing with five goals and three assists in all competitions.

    Rangnick CONFIRMS Man United exit
Ralf Rangnick has revealed he will not be staying with Man United as a consultant.
Rangnick was expected to go upstairs after his stint as United’s interim boss last season and assist new head coach Erik ten Hag.
But Rangnick revealed that he will be leaving the club to focus on his role as Austria’s new manager.
    Morning Man Utd fans
Ralf Rangnick has revealed he will not be staying with Man United as a consultant.
Rangnick was expected to go upstairs after his stint as United’s interim boss last season and assist new head coach Erik ten Hag.
But Rangnick revealed that he will be leaving the club to focus on his role as Austria’s new manager.
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly plotting a double transfer raid of Darwin Nunez and Jurrien Timber.
The Old Trafford chief has already set his sights on fresh talent as he looks to rebuild the team.
Ten Hag is now wasting no time in recruiting talent, with the Mirror reporting that the club has identified two priorities.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has forced changes at Manchester United’s training ground after complaining about the state of its swimming pool, reports claim.
The Portuguese returned to the Red Devils last summer, only to be left shocked by the state of Carrington.
It’s claimed that the 37-year-old couldn’t believe the condition that United’s HQ had been allowed to fall into.
Pogba won’t return because of Allegri
Paul Pogba WILL NOT return to Juventus this summer as he’s afraid to challenge boss Massimiliano Allegri, it’s been claimed.
Pogba played under Allegri at Juve for two years between 2014 and 2016, before sealing a big money move back to Manchester United.
Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the Frenchman at Old Trafford and he’s out of contract at the end of June, opening up the possibility for a return to the Old Lady.
But in an interview with former Italy and Juve star Andrea Barzagli, Allegri has joked that Pogba WILL NOT be returning as he is afraid to challenge him.
On Pogba potentially returning, Allegri laughed: “Pogba is definitely not coming back because he is afraid to challenge me, so he is not coming.
“He thought, then first he lost with his feet and then with his hands and then he left.
“The real reason why he left is this and hardly ever comes back.”
    Rashford to stay
Marcus Rashford will be be staying at Old Trafford, according to French journalist Jacque Talbot.
The England forward has been linked with a move to Arsenal after falling down the pecking order at the club.
However Talbot told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m told Rashford is staying put. There was definite interest from Bayern Munich, who were trying to bring him in.
“I think with Rashford there was interest because he is a big name, he’s still a young talent, but I think his heart is at Manchester United.
“There’s something symbolic about his name and Manchester United and the fact he’s a local lad, so I imagine he’ll be staying.”

Cristiano Ronaldo SURPASSED expectations in first Man Utd season after transfer return despite club woes, says Berbatov

DIMITAR BERBATOV says the “stats prove” Cristiano Ronaldo was a success at Manchester United this season – despite the club’s disappointing campaign. United fans hoped they might challenge for top honours again after club legend Ronaldo returned from Juventus last summer.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Dimitar Berbatov were part of a potent Manchester United frontline in 2009Credit: Offside
Instead it was another trophyless campaign and disappointing sixth-place Prem finish that saw them end 35 points behind champions and bitter rivals Manchester City.
It was also a season which saw club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relieved of managerial duties in November, and the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as caretaker boss.
Question marks have been raised over Ronaldo’s influence on the dressing room, and he endured a 587-minute mid-season goal drought – his longest in nearly 12 years.
But the Portugal striker still bagged 24 goals for United in all competitions – 18 in the league – and almost single-handedly dragged the club into the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

Brazilian winger Raphinha has been linked with a move away from Leeds this summerCredit: Reuters

But they face competition from the Red Devils in the race to secure the Brazilian’s services.

He said: “My older brother is Bruno Fernandes. At least that’s the way I see it. Our friendship began even before we became team-mates at Sporting.
“Once he knew that I was going there, he texted me saying he was looking forward to playing with me.
“I know that I would have arrived at the club in a very timid way if I hadn’t known anyone there before, so he really helped me settle quickly.
“Bruno has helped me so much. In Portugal we would talk a lot and go out for meals. When I went to Rennes, he advised me. The guy is so clever.
“When I was on the plane to Leeds, he texted me saying my style would fit the league. He was right again.
“Just being around him is an inspiration because of the way he behaves. At the top level I have never seen anyone work as hard as him.
“You know it will be very difficult to do what he does, but if you try long enough and listen to what he says, you might get close.

According to The Manchester Evening News, club chiefs have internally discussed the Spaniard as a transfer target with Ten Hag.
It is claimed the 2021 Europa League winner was shortlisted as an option last year but the club turned to Raphael Varane from Real Madrid instead.
Reports have stated that the Red Devils are open to triggering Torres’ £51million release.
But the centre-back has since broken his silence regarding his future as he stated that he has received no approach from United or any other potential suitor.

And Mourinho feels Dybala can form a fine partnership with hotshot striker Tammy Abraham.

Roma are also pouncing now to take advantage of Inter Milan’s stalling.
Last season’s Serie A champs were in talks with Dybala, but those have cooled off as they explore a potential return for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
Inter also appear to have convinced Henrikh Mkhitaryan to snub a new Roma deal and join them on a free transfer.
So Mourinho is now ready to make his own move by pulling off a stunning swoop for Dybala.
The ex-Palermo man best operates as a secondary striker.
He netted 115 times for Juventus in 293 games.

Rangnick LEAVES United, Frenkie de Jong boost, £50m Ruben Neves bid, United ‘to ask Chelsea about Kante availability’

MANCHESTER UNITED have announced that Ralf Rangnick will not stay on as a consultant next season. “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months,” a statement read.
“By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.
“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”
Meanwhile, United are on the verge of making a new bid for Ruben Neves, SunSport can reveal.
The Wolves man is set to choose between United and Barcelona this summer with the West Midlands club already having a replacement lined up.
And United are also looking to pursue Barcelona man Frenkie de Jong’s signature.

    De Jong deal
Man Utd are prepared to make Frenkie De Jong their highest paid player in order to tempt him away from Barcelona, according to reports.
New United boss Erik ten Hag is desperate to bring the Dutch midfielder to Old Trafford to bolster the squad.
De Jong, is well known to want to play Champions League football, but United are prepared to offer an eye-watering £395,000 a week in order to tempt him into a move, according to the Daily Star.
This would immediately elevate him above the likes of David de Gea (£375,000), Jadon Sancho (£350,000) Raphael Varane (£340,000), and above Cristiano Ronaldo (£300,000) in United’s books.

    Ten Hag’s double raid
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly plotting a double transfer raid of Darwin Nunez and Jurrien Timber.
The new Old Trafford chief has already set his sights on fresh talent as he looks to rebuild the team.
Ten Hag is now wasting no time in recruiting talent, with the Mirror reporting that the club has identified two priorities.
Benfica striker Nunez caught the eyes of fans this season as he hit 26 goals in 28 league games for Benfica, and has been heavily linked with the Manchester side.
While ten Hag wants Ajax defender Timber to join him from his former club, with the 20-year-old valued at £35 million.
    Benji Siegrist in Preston talks
Preston boss Ryan Lowe is in talks with Dundee United’s Swiss keeper Benji Siegrist in a bid to sign him on a free transfer, ALAN NIXON WRITES.
Lowe wants THREE new shot stoppers and the highly rated Siegrist who started his career in England with Aston Villa.
Siegrist is out of contract and has also been watched by Celtic and Manchester United as cover but North End would give him the chance to be first choice.
The Swiss has impressed since joining the Tangerines from Vaduz in 2018.
He helped them to the Scottish Championship title in 2019-20, before easily taking to top flight football.
Siegrist, 30, played his part last term as Dundee United qualified for next season’s Europa Conference League by coming fourth in the Premiership.
    Merson on The Glazers
Man United’s American owners care about their investments back home over the Prem giants.
That’s the opinion of Paul Merson who compared the Glazer’s success with their NFL team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to that of United;s in recent years.
And Merson warned Chelsea it could be the same for them under new American owner Todd Boehly.
Merson told the Daily Star: “Look at Manchester United. The Glazers have won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But how long is it now since United challenged for the title?”
    Ronnie Edwards transfer frenzy
Aston Villa and Southampton have joined the host of Premier League clubs eyeing a £10million summer swoop for Peterborough teenager Ronnie Edwards.
The centre back has been linked with Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Manchester United after being a shining light in a season that ended in Posh being relegated to League One.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has insisted that it would take a record offer for one of the club’s players to persuade him to let Edwards go this year.
And the ever-increasing interest in the 19-year-old makes it certain Fry will be able to generate more than the £6.2m received for Britt Assombalonga in 2014.
If Edwards performs well for England at next month’s European Under-19 Championship, his stock will rise further.
Peterborough may seek a deal that would see Edwards return to the club on loan for next season, but any buyer could prefer him to play at a higher level than League One.
    Evra gives transfer tips
Patrice Evra has told Man United boss Erik ten Hag what to look for when signing players.
He said: “It’s a tough job, but he will have to make [hard] decisions.
“When he brings one player to the club, [he must make sure] they’re not coming for the money, they’re not coming to become famous, but they are coming here to fight for the badge.
“That, for me, will be one of his most important things.”
    Fabregas makes Frenk assessment
Man United have been warned that transfer target Frenkie de Jong isn’t the complete package.
That’s the view of ex-Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas who claims De Jong’s passing isn’t up to scratch.
He said when assessing De Jong: “He just lacks the final pass.”
    Bale matches Ronaldo record
Gareth Bale matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record FIFTH Champions League trophy… despite playing just seven minutes in the competition this season.
The winger, 32, was an unused substitute in the final as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0.
Despite that several fans on social media were quick to applaud Bale and congratulate him on his fifth Champions League title – the same number as Ronaldo and one more than Lionel Messi.
One fan said: “Can we all just appreciate the #GarethBale is dancing on the pitch laughing his arse off at the fans that hate him – what a fella!”
    Arsenal enter Raphinha race
Arsenal have entered the transfer race for Leeds ace Raphinha.
But the Gunners face stiff competition from Barcelona and Man United for the Brazilian, according to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari.
Barca view Raphinha as the ideal replacement for Man United target Ousmane Dembele, the report adds.
Man United face Liverpool transfer battle
Man United are set to be joined by Liverpool in the race to sign Ousmane Dembele.
That’s according to Sport, who claim the Reds are plotting a swoop for the Barca star this summer.
And Jurgen Klopp’s side have already been in contact with the winger over a possible transfer.
Dembele is set to be a free agent in the summer months as his contract expiry date looms.
    Garner wanted by Leicester
Man Utd youth star James Garner is wanted by Leicester City, after a successful spell at Nottingham Forest this campaign.
The 21-year-old’s future hangs in the balance with new manager Erik ten Hag undecided about the talent.
According to reports, he will assess the player in preseason to decide if he wants to keep him.
That has alerted Brendan Rodgers, who is keen to bolster his midfield ahead of next season.
Southampton are also said to be waiting in the wings.
    Focus on youth
Erik ten Hag has been lauded by Head of Academy by Nick Cox, after his appointment.
Speaking on the Man Utd website, Cox revealed: “It’s great that we’ve recruited a manager who has a proven commitment to developing young players, and comes from a club which has a very similar emphasis on youth.”
According to reports, ten Hag will be given a £120million war chest to improve his squad.
He will also be looking to promote from within, especially given the FA Youth Cup final win this season.
    De Jong boost
Man Utd could have the opportunity to sign Frenkie de Jong with Barcelona targeting Carlos Soler, according to reports.
Erik ten Hag is plotting a squad rebuild this summer and De Jong is said to be one of his transfer targets.
Barcelona could sell the Dutchman due to a need to raise money, with Soler a potential replacement according to Sport.
Barca reportedly believe Soler could be a top player in the future and he could be available for a cut-price as he is entering the final year of his contract.
    Barnes disses Ronaldo
Liverpool legend John Barnes has pointed the finger at Cristiano Ronaldo for the “disharmony” in the Man Utd dressing room.
“He causes disunity and disharmony,” he said at a William Hill event via the Daily Mirror.
When the ball does not come to him, he throws his hands up in the air, that’s a great example, isn’t it? The harmony at Manchester United is a problem and who causes that disharmony?
“He walks around as though ‘it’s the rest of them, I’m doing my job’. That’s not what a leader does – that’s what someone who does it for himself does.”
    Utd miss out on Johnstone
Crystal Palace are reportedly set to beat Manchester United and Tottenham in the race to sign goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
The Evening Standard claim that the West Brom stopper, who’s contract expires this summer, is in advanced talks with the Eagles.
Johnstone, 29, has been capped by England three times and was keen on a move back to the Premier League after spending last year in the Championship.
Man Utd were considering a move for Johnstone to play second fiddle to David De Gea due to Dean Henderson supposedly heading to Newcastle.
    Neville speaks on McClaren
Gary Neville has backed Steve McClaren to be successful as a coach at Man United.
Neville told the club’s website: “I think Ten Hag comes as a successful coach, a coach that’s won, a coach that’s got belief and knows how to build an idea.
“I think he does need someone alongside him on the side of the pitch that can tell him about different stadiums, referees, different things that happen culturally in England around matches.
“Steve McClaren’s got vast experience, not just at Manchester United but obviously in English football.”
    Just give us a Koul
Barcelona have reportedly put Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly at the top of their defensive wishlist.
Koulibaly is yet to sign a new contract with Napoli despite the club’s best efforts.
And the Serie A side are willing to sell the centre-back to avoid letting him go for free next summer, according to Sport.
Napoli will take £25m for Koulibaly, a price that could prompt Barca to make a swoop for him, the report added.

He promised fans he is “overly focused” as he ponders his next destination.

The Daily Mail claimed the Dane’s agent Martin Schoots passed on the vow that he would not join another London club out of respect to Spurs.

And as expected, the one-v-one ended in Downer humiliating ex-Manchester United captain Ferdinand with a swift nutmeg.
Ferdinand couldn’t believe the 24-year-old managed to pull off the audacious move and covered his mouth in shock.
On Friday, Downer told SunSport how he manages to execute his nutmegs on football’s biggest stars.
He said: “It’s called M10 and I knew it would work. It has worked on most footballers. I’ve got Riyad Mahrez with it.

Man United are also keeping tabs on Koulibaly.
    Diallo set for United return
Man United ace Amad Diallo is set to return to Old Trafford this summer.
He has been on loan with Rangers since January, but his time at the Ibrox won’t extend beyond the summer.
Diallo wished the club farewell on social media, and said: “Thanks guys it was a pleasure to be part of your beautiful trip…wish you all the best.
    Lingard gets fit before exit
Jesse Lingard is hard at work in the gym ahead of his Manchester United exit this summer.
The 29-year-old worked up a sweat as he pumped weights in anticipation of his next move.
There is interest in his services both from the Premier League and abroad.
In the meantime Lingard is making sure he keeps himself in tip-top shape ahead of his next move.
He promised fans he is “overly focused” as he ponders his next destination.

    Christian Eriksen snubbed Man United
Christian Eriksen snubbed Manchester United over a promise made to Tottenham owner Daniel Levy in 2017, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claimed the Dane’s agent Martin Schoots passed on the vow that he would not join another London club out of respect to Spurs.
And Eriksen, now 30, apparently extended his promise to all English clubs when United’s interest came out.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hoping to secure an £80million deal for the playmaker but failed to land his man.
Kante set to leave for cut-price
Chelsea are set to let N’Golo Kante leave for a cut-price fee this summer amid interest from Man United, reports claim.
His contract is up at the end of next season, and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel wants to switch up his midfield, The Athletic reported.
And he’s willing to let Kante go for a reduced fee to do so, the report added.
    More from Arnold
Arnold believes that Erik ten Hag is an example of United’s commitment to progress.
He said: “The appointment of Erik ten Hag was the most visible example of that action, and the most important.
“We’re pleased to have got that done early and we can’t wait for Erik to get started.
“Success won’t be achieved overnight but we are determined to get there, and we will be relentless in our efforts to achieve it.
“I would very much hope that all fans within Old Trafford approach next season with renewed optimism and confidence as we look forward to a fresh start under Erik ten Hag.”
    CEO assesses United’s season
Richard Arnold has reassured Manchester United fans that the club will bounce back after a terrible season.
When speaking at a supporters forum, he said: “Everyone at the club, from the owners down, accepts that performances this season have been well below what we expect.
“Suffice to say, we are not happy with where we are in terms of performance on the pitch.
“We are taking decisive action to improve things and there is huge commitment and passion across the club to return to where we think we belong – challenging for, and winning, titles.”
    Mane reveals Man United links
Sadio Mane has revealed how close he came to agreeing a move to Manchester United before Jurgen Klopp convinced him to join Liverpool instead.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Mane said: “I was really close to going to Manchester United.
“I had the contract there. I had it all agreed. It was all ready, but instead I thought, ‘No, I want to go to Liverpool’.
“I was convinced to go with Klopp’s project.”
    Taking the Mkhi
Inter Milan are on the brink of signing ex-Man United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Roma.
Mkhitaryan joined Roma from Arsenal in 2020.
But now he’s set to join Inter in a deal worth £2.9m over two years, according to Football Italia.
However, Roma are still hoping they can retain him next season, the report adds.
    Pau choice for Ten Hag
Man United have reportedly consulted new Erik ten Hag on the possibility of signing Pau Torres.
ccording to The Manchester Evening News, Old Trafford bosses have internally discussed the Spaniard with Ten Hag as a transfer target.
It is claimed Torres, 25, was shortlisted as a defensive option last year but the club turned to Raphael Varane, 29, from Real Madrid instead.
Torres has a release clause in his current contract, believed to be around £50m, after he penned an extension until 2024 three years ago.
    Ron was the best
Edinson Cavani reckons Cristiano Ronaldo was Man United’s best player last season.
And David De Gea was just behind the Portuguese attacker in Cavani’s eyes.
Cavani said: “I think that, apart from having a short period when he wasn’t getting on the scoresheet, which can happen when you are a striker, Cristiano was probably our one player who showed the most consistency.
“After him comes David [De Gea], as he has also been one of the most consistent performers in the squad, so together, they have been the most consistent and best players in the squad from our season this time around.”
    One final push for Neves
Man United are on the verge of making a final move for Wolves ace Ruben Neves, JORDAN DAVIES WRITES.
United have been tracking Neves, 25, with a view to buying for the past 12 months, first through ex-boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last summer.
The Red Devils then saw a £35m January move turned away, and SunSport understands they are looking to go again in the next couple of weeks with new boss Erik ten Hag a big fan.
However, Barcelona are also in the running, and could snatch Neves away from Old Trafford with the lure of the Champions League a big pull.
Neves’ contract runs out in 2024, but has stalled on negotiating an extension.
    Kan it happen?
Man United are considering a transfer approach for N’Golo Kante.
United boss Erik ten Hag wants to add some steel to the team’s midfield, and reckons Kante’s the man for the job, according to The Guardian.
Kante has a year left on his contract and United wonder if Chelsea are willing to let him leave this summer.
However, the Red Devils will face resistance from Blues boss Thomas Tuchel as it’s unlikely he’ll be willing Kante leave without a fight, the report adds.
    Raphina transfer battle heats up
Arsenal have joined the transfer race for Leeds star Raphina.
Man United and Chelsea are already tracking the Brazilian playmaker.
But now the Gunners have entered the fray for Raphina, who Leeds won’t sell for less than £64m, Football London reported.
    Good morning Man Utd fans
Manchester United officials have consulted new boss Erik ten Hag about the possibility of signing Villarreal’s Pau Torres, according to reports.
The Spanish international has been a long-term target for the Red Devils.
Torres could even take his No4 shirt, should Phil Jones leave the club.
United are prepared to listen to offers for three defenders as Ten Hag begins work on his back line.
Reports claim that the Red Devils will part with Jones, Eric Bailly and Alex Tuanzebe if they receive suitable offers.
Man Utd bosses have drawn up a shortlist of goalkeepers to potentially bring in as back-up for David de Gea.
The Red Devils require a new reserve stopper after Lee Grant announced his retirement from playing yesterday while current number two, Dean Henderson, is expected to move on.
Reports say that both Newcastle’s Karl Darlow and Watford’s Daniel Bachmann are currently being considered.
A return to Old Trafford for Sam Johnstone had been on the agenda, but the England goalkeeper now looks destined to join Crystal Palace.
    Red Devil McShane retires
Former Manchester United defender Paul McShane has officially retired from playing to pursue a career in coaching, writes Giacomo Pisa.
The 36-year-old has spent the last season unusually playing with the Under-23s, while also coaching various age groups within the academy.
McShane made six appearances for the U23s in the campaign just gone, despite his age.
He is set to stay at United in a coaching capacity in the Professional Development Phase at the academy, which covers the U18s to U23s.
McShane won 33 caps for the Republic of Ireland across the course of his career, but failed to ever make a senior appearance for the Red Devils.
He did however enjoy spells with the likes of Hull City, Reading, West Brom and Brighton.
McShane most recently played for League Two outfit Rochdale before joining United U23s last summer.
Arsenal and United interested in Villa wonderkid Chukwuemeka
Barcelona have reportedly entered the race to sign Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka with Arsenal also keen on the midfielder.
The 18-year-old has been linked with a summer exit away from the Midlands with his contract at Villa Park to expire in 2023.
Chukwuemeka was linked with the likes of Manchester United, City and Liverpool last season, with Bayern Munich and Juventus also keen.
And fellow European sides Monaco, PSV Eindhoven and RB Leipzig have also been claimed to be keen on prising him away from England.
And following a breakthrough campaign which has seen him feature in 12 Premier League games, clubs are keen to test Villa’s resolve of the player.
It was claimed in March how Mikel Arteta had eyed up the Young Lions ace as a possible replacement for Granit Xhaka should the Swiss star depart.
Reports stated how the Gunners have sent scouts to watch the youngster in action numerous times this term.
And according to Sport, the North London outfit remain interested in the teenager ahead of a possible swoop.
    Red Devils to reshape defence
Manchester United are prepared to listen to offers for three defenders as Erik ten Hag begins work on his back line.
The MEN report that the Red Devils will part with Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Alex Tuanzebe if they receive suitable offers.
Ivory Coast international Bailly arrived in 2016 for £30m, but only made four appearances in the Premier League last season.
Jones, meanwhile, has been blighted by injuries in recent years, and only has a year remaining on his contract; Tuanzebe has spent much of the past two campaigns out on loan without success.
Ten Hag consulted on Torres transfer as shirt number looms
Manchester United officials have consulted new boss Erik ten Hag about the possibility of signing Villarreal’s Pau Torres, according to the MEN.
The Spanish international has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, and was first considered during Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s time in the hot seat.
Torres could even take his No4 shirt, should Phil Jones leave the club.
The recruitment department at Old Trafford have continued to monitor Torres’ situation, and now seem set to make a move – but only if Ten Hag gives the deal the green light.

United tipped to step in front of Chelsea with Nkunku bid
Manchester United will swoop in ahead of Chelsea with a bid for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku next week, according to reports.
Nkunku, 24, was named as the Bundesliga Player of the Season earlier this week.

Sky Sports Germany claim Nkunku’s representatives are “in contact” with the Red Devils.
United are right at the front of the queue to sign the hot shot and an offer is “to be expected next week”.
They are hoping to beat Chelsea as the Blues also ready themselves to launch a bid.
Club consultant Ralf Rangnick – who once called Nkunku “the best young player in Germany” – has already “advocated the move” to Old Trafford.
    United set De Jong deadline
Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong remains one of Manchester United’s top targets this summer.
However, the new ruthless Red Devils will not let the move become a drawn-out transfer saga and have set a deadline in order to get the deal done.
Sport understand that United’s ultimatum will allow them to look elsewhere should the Dutchman decide to stay at the Nou Camp.
Barca are reluctantly ready to part with the 25-year-old given their financial issues, and Erik ten Hag is incredibly keen on capturing his compatriot.

In an interview with United’s website, Cavani said: “I sincerely have nothing but words of gratitude towards the fans and supporters of Manchester United.
“Honestly, they have shown me a lot of respect from the very first moment I arrived.
“I think they’ve greatly recognised all the hard work I’ve always tried to put in in the best way possible, giving my best for this team.
“I really am very grateful, and I’ll be leaving here with a happy memory of that affection they showed me and always displayed.
“I wanted to contribute more this season.
“One of the things that has left me with a slightly bitter taste is that when we had a highly enjoyable and pretty decent [2020/21] season, we weren’t able to have the supporters along with us.
“And now, this season, with the fans coming back into the grounds and stadiums, I haven’t really been able to have the kind of campaign, if I’m being honest, on a personal front that I would really have liked.”
    See you Edinson
Edinson Cavani has penned a heartfelt goodbye message to Manchester United ahead of his summer exit.
The iconic Uruguayan will be a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June.
Cavani, 35, only featured 20 times for United this term and only managed to score twice.
Last season, he netted 17 including a long range stunner in the 1-1 draw with Fulham at Old Trafford.
But his decrease in goals is a regret for Cavani, who says he “wanted to contribute more” this term.
