But he missed six games through injury, scored just ONE goal, and was even jeered by his own fans in a miserable spell.
Now Sevilla have confirmed they will NOT be considering a permanent deal.
Club president Jose Castro said: “Anthony Martial will return to Man United.
“We spent important money on him but it didn’t work.

“Also, he had injuries and we’re not going to buy him on a permanent deal”.
The LaLiga side, who finished in fourth position, are believed to be paying 40 per cent of Martial’s £240,000-a-week wages.
That is £96,000 a week, for what has been little return this season.
Having made 12 appearances for the team, including nine in La Liga, many might have expected a fresh start to reignite the Frenchman’s stuttering career.

Martial was sent to Sevilla by Ralf Rangnick after failing to earn significant minutes under any of the three managers who have managed United this season.
He started just two games in the Premier League this season before going out on loan, scoring in the 57-minute appearance he made against Everton in October – his only other goal of the season.

Pau Torres agents ‘flying to Manchester this week’, Ten Hag confirms he wants Ronaldo to stay – Man Utd transfer latest

MANCHESTER UNITED defenders Harry Maguire and Phil Jones had a bust-up during the interval of their thrashing by Liverpool according to reports. The Red Devils were comfortably dispatched 4-0 in front of Old Trafford back in April.
And in bad news for the pair, the agents of in-demand Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres are said to be jetting into Manchester this week.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has confirmed he wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the club, but will talk to the Portugal captain first before revealing anything further to the media.

    Aurelien Tchou join Madrid
RMC suggest that Aurelien Tchouameni will join Real Madrid on 5-year contract, the transfer costing the Spanish champions around £60million.
Arsenal and Manchester United had emerged as some of the frontrunners.
But the midfielder – likened to Paul Pogba in style – seems to have decided on the Spanish capital.
The talented Tchouameni has been wowing scouts all over Europe with his performances for Monaco.

His ability was underlined earlier this month when he netted two stunning goals in a win against Lille.
    No risk for Ten Hag
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag doesn’t think there is a risk to the reputation he created at Ajax after moving to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag said: “I don’t see it as a risk. This club has a great history and let’s make a future.
“I’m really excited to do that with the people around the club.
“If we work hard and are 100 per cent committed, I’m sure we will have success”.
    Van de Beek district
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says he is relishing working with former Everton loanee Donny van de Beek again after their time together at Ajax.
Ten Hag said: “Of course we had a fantastic squad in that time in Ajax.
“We had a fantastic relationship and I look forward to seeing him again”
    It’s still Ron
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo is in his plans for next season.
Ronaldo’s future has been uncertain for quite a few months and there were questions as to whether Ten Hag was planning to go forward with him.
But the Dutchman put all the speculation to rest after being asked if he wants the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to stay: “Of course!”
Ten Hag was then asked what Ronaldo brings, to which he responded “goals”.
    Net Victor Osimhen
Arsenal have had a club-record £76million offer for Napoli star Victor Osimhen rejected, in what works as a transfer boost for Manchester United.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to bring Osimhen to the Emirates with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah set to depart in June as free agents.
According to Calciomercato, the Partenopei have turned down the North Londoners’ bid as they hold out for more money.
It has been stated that the Serie A giants will only part ways with the striker should they receive a fee in the region of £93m.
The same source has reported that it is possible Arsenal will come back in with a second bid for the Nigeria international
    Darwin Nunez blow
Manchester United have been dealt with a transfer blow amid their interest in Benfica star Darwin Nunez.
That is because Real Madrid have joined the bidding war to land Nunez in the summer.
According to Record, the LaLiga champs have identified the striker as a potential target after they missed out on Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

    Glazer family out?
Manchester United’s shares have fallen 23 per cent this season, the biggest collapse in the past 10 years, wiping almost $600million (£480m) off the club’s value.
However, this decline on the stock market may make the club a more attractive proposition to purchase, according to a finance expert.
Mike Owens, UK Sales Trader at investment platform Saxo Markets, said: “Man Utd’s recent lack of on-field success, in particular missing out on Champions League football next season, will have contributed to this decline. The club’s share value has seen a downtick for the past four seasons since the team finished second in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho in 2018.
“Their falling share price may, however, make the club a more attractive proposition for a potential new buyer and this could be the catalyst to see a change of ownership at the club in the next couple of years if current owners, the Glazer family, are tempted to cash out.
“By way of comparison, the reported bids being negotiated for the sale of Chelsea Football Club range from $3bn to $4bn, while the enterprise value of Manchester United is currently $2.6bn based on the latest share price. On most metrics Manchester United is a far bigger club than Chelsea, which would indicate the shares are currently undervalued by the market”

    ON THE HU-GO
Manchester United are currently in the middle of a six-way battle for Reims star Hugo Ekitike.
However, it’s being reported in France that Paris Saint-Germain are lining up a £38million bid for Ekitike.
According to Foot Mercato, United and Newcastle are the main interested parties from the Premier League.
Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are all also in the hunt for the striker.
Back in January, it was reported that the Magpies had had a £33m bid accepted by the French club, only for the Frenchman himself to turn down the offer

    Jack’s Greal deal
Manchester City star Jack Grealish revealed he could have signed for rivals Manchester United as a kid – but his dad gave the club a fake name.
Grealish recalled the story, speaking to THE FACE: “You’re not actually meant to go back and play with your old team, but they were doing a little tour down in Devon and we played against some team in the group stages. We won 4-0 and I scored all four.
“That was when people were like: ‘OK, this kid’s good.’
“Then I got scouted by other teams like Man United, West Brom and Birmingham City. But [at] those times I was contracted to [Aston] Villa, so I shouldn’t have been playing.
“When they came up to my dad, he’d have to give a fake name!”
“If we work hard and are 100 per cent committed, I’m sure we will have success”
    Smash and Gnab
Real Madrid have joined a host of Premier League clubs in the race to sign Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry, who has been linked with Manchester United.
According to Sport1, Gnabry is open to departing from the Allianz Arena as he doesn’t feel valued by the German champions and Real are interested.
The forward is facing an uncertain future at Bayern with his contract set to run out in 2023.
It has been claimed that the winger has turned down a new deal to remain in Munich.
A Prem return has been mooted, with former club Arsenal linked with a move to bring him back.
Liverpool, Chelsea and United are also all rumoured to be keeping tabs on the Germany international
    Ten Hag warning
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag warned rivals Liverpool and Manchester City he is coming for them.
Ten Hag said: “In this moment, I admire them both, Manchester City and Liverpool. They both play really fantastic football, both Liverpool and Man City.
“But you will always see an era can come to an end and I am looking forward to battling with them.
“I’m really looking forward to doing this job at this club with massive history. And we want to restore it to where it belongs”

    Timber prediction
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand also believes Ajax star Jurrien Timber would be a hit at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand added: “I think the way Ten Hag’s playing, looking at it, it’s like, ‘We’re going to be the team that’s the aggressor, we’re going to be the team that dictates and dominates the games’. So he’s looking to play on the half-way line.
“He isn’t looking to play in a deep block, so he’s not thinking about [Timber’s height]. One thing he’ll have to think about is the physical element in the Premier League is very different to what he’s seen in Holland.
“So defending crosses, you could be 5ft10, we saw Patrice Evra he was 5ft3 probably but he was one of the best headers of the ball when we were doing defensive set-pieces – and he was a threat in the opposing box as well. So it can be done but whether he’s that guy, time will tell”
    To the Max
Manchester United have been urged to sign Norwich ace Max Aarons by Rio Ferdinand.
Ferdinand believes Aarons would have a lot of longevity at United and would prove to be a clever investment.
Ferdinand told his Vibe with FIVE podcast: “Someone like Max Aarons you could put him like a Chris Smalling-type signing where they come in and they have an impact.
“They may not be straight starters immediately but they go and they stay there for 10 years and have a really good career and they impact the club at different levels”
    Man Utd fight club
Manchester United pair Alex Telles and Hannibal Mejbri have been named as the two players that were involved in a bust-up at Carrington earlier this month.
SunSport exclusively revealed that two United aces had to be pulled apart in shocking scenes following their training ground scrap.
The heated altercation between the two men is understood to have happened in the days that followed the embarrassing 4-0 thrashing away at Brighton on May 7.
Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick was forced to call the session to a premature end with the Red Devils squad left stunned as tempers boiled over between the duo.
And now the men in question have been named, with the Daily Mail stating that the fiery exchange was between Telles and Mejbri
    West Ham target Lingard
West Ham are trying to sign outgoing Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claim United have made “initial enquiries” with Lingard’ representatives.
The versatile midfielder is set to become a free agent in June following a hapless campaign with the Red Devils.

    Ruben Neves boost
Wolves have offered a new contract to Morgan Gibbs-White as they prepare for life without Ruben Neves.
Neves has been linked with a move to Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
The midfielder seems certain to call time on his Molineux career after taking an emotional bow following his final home game against Norwich last week.
The 25-year-old followed it up by admitting he is ready to “live his dreams” on Sunday.
Now Wolves boss Bruno Lage has made his first move to rebuild his squad by offering Gibbs-White a bumper new deal
    More from Bellingham
Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is grateful of the Bundesliga club, which is why he is keen to stay despite Manchester United links.
Bellingham added: “I have my destiny in my hands and I know that if I try hard and trust the people around me, I can move forward. I came from England as a young talent.
“There was not much pressure. The first season went well. There were also matches where I sat on the bench and sometimes I did not play at all.
“I think my development this year has meant that I have played a bigger role in every game except two. I am very grateful to Dortmund for the way they have nurtured my talent.
“I think a lot of the credit goes to the coaching staff and the staff who keep the noise around me. In this way I can only focus on winning matches, because that’s what I’m here for”
    Bellingham issues transfer blow
Manchester United have been dealt a major transfer blow in their bid to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham after he stated he is staying in Germany.
Bellingham has been linked with United as well as Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten BVB, Bellingham said: “The only future I think about is the next game for Dortmund.
“I look forward to next season. I look forward to it finally starting. But yes, I will be here next season and I will be ready”

    Ten Hag backs Maguire
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag backed Harry Maguire after a difficult season and claimed he has done a “great job” as captain.
Ten Hag told the media on his first day in the job: “Next season is a different season.
“He’s done a great job, and he’s a great player.
“He’s achieved a lot with his contribution to Manchester United so I’m looking forward to working with him”
    Ronaldo vetoed Conte
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo blocked the appointment of Antonio Conte before he took over at Tottenham.
Conte was linked with the United hotseat towards the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s turbulent tenure.
And at one stage in late October, a month before Solskjaer had been sacked, the Red Devils are said to have asked Ronaldo for his thoughts on possibly appointing the Italian tactician.
But astonishingly a source told Manchester Evening News the five-time Ballon d’Or winner effectively rejected the notion of appointing the former Chelsea boss.
It’s claimed the demanding workload Conte puts on players, combined with his high intensity put the 37-year-old off from working under him.
United instead turned to Ralf Rangnick as interim manager when Solskjaer was eventually relieved of his duties
    Morning, United fans
Erik ten Hag launched his Old Trafford reign by claiming the current United squad IS good enough
But the Dutchman still insisted he needs time to assess his United players ahead of an expected summer spree.
Reims striker Hugo Ekitike and Wolves attacker Ruben Neves are the latest stars rated as prime targets.
Ten Hag, meanwhile, was coy about top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo’s future but is relishing reuniting with his struggling ex-Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
He said: “Our plan is huge. I’m still in the process of analysing.
“I’m looking forward to working with these players. The season before, this squad was second in the Premier League and there’s huge potential.
“We have a strategy and a concept. I have a good feeling from people around me now, and it’s about getting the plan done.”
But keeper David De Gea admits dramatic improvement is needed.
The Spaniard even suggested: “The level we have shown in the last three or four months isn’t enough to win a Premier League match.”
On the transfer front, United face fierce competition from Newcaslte and PSG if they pursue French teenager Ekitike.
And it’s thought Aston Villa have beaten the Red Devils as well as Atletico Madrid to sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara on a five-year-deal.
Ten Hag fires title warning to Pep
Erik ten Hag fired a warning to Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp: I’m here to put Manchester United back on top.
The managers of Manchester City and Liverpool have shared the last five titles and stand head and shoulders above everyone else in the Premier League.

United limped in 35 points behind champions City this season.
But new Red Devils boss Ten Hag insists he is ready to end their rivals’ era of dominance.
Ten Hag said: “In this moment, I admire them both, Manchester City and Liverpool.
“They both play really fantastic football, both Liverpool and Man City. But you will always see an era can come to an end and I am looking forward to battling with them. I’m really looking forward to doing this job at this club with massive history.
“And we want to restore it to where it belongs.”

It was revealed to be a mistake from an intern learning the system
The BBC anchor was then forced to apologise for the mishap two hours later.
She said: “A little earlier, some of you may have noticed something pretty unusual on the ticker that runs along the bottom of the screen with news making a comment about Manchester United, and I hope that Manchester United fans weren’t offended by it.
“Let me just explain what was happening: behind the scenes someone was training to learn how to use the ticker and to put text on the ticker, so they were just writing random things not in earnest and that comment appeared.

Reacting to the mishap on social media, one person wrote: “Pep [Guardiola] starting his summer job 🤣🤣🤣🤣.”
Another added: “I really hope the trainee doesn’t feel too bad.
“Because honestly that mistake was actually legendary and we all salute you.”
While a Red Devils fan added: “I mean, even as a Man Utd supporter, they’re not wrong.”
Man Utd finished sixth in the Premier League table this season, a dismal return after they had hoped to challenge for the title.
Not only have they ended up a huge 35 points adrift of league winners Manchester City, they have also missed out on qualification for the Champions League.
And they ended their Premier League campaign with a 12th defeat of the season at the hands of Crystal Palace.
United fans will be hoping new manager Erik ten Hag can turn things around at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman conducted his first press conference as head coach on Monday.
Speaking about the situation, he told the Man Utd website: “[We must] accept the current situation but also know one year ago, this club was second in the Premier League.
“There’s potential and now it’s up to us to get that out. It’s a process, it will take time, but I’m convinced we will come to that point where we get success.
“We have to work hard and it has to be based on the right philosophy and strategy.
“In certain positions we want to renew the squad, but as I said, one year ago, this squad was second in the league, so there is potential and I’m really looking forward to co-operating with the squad.
“I have to build, starting a new relationship with the squad, with my players.
” I have high expectations from myself and that is also what I demand from my squad.
“They have to co-operate together and they have to give every day their best. And I would say, for me, good is not good enough. We have to do better.” More

Juve favourites to win Pogba hunt
Juventus are favourites ahead of PSG to sign Paul Pogba – with Manchester City and Real Madrid next on the list.
The French World Cup winner, 29, seems sure to exit Manchester United for a second time on a free transfer this summer.
The midfielder’s final United appearance lasted just eight minutes as he was injured early on in the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on April 19.
But old club Juve are still thought to be keen.
Betfair odds on Pogba’s next club:

    Juventus – 6/4
    PSG – 9/4
    Manchester City – 6/1
    Real Madrid – 9/1

    De Gea warns Utd flops
David de Gea blasted Manchester United’s under-performing stars and told anyone not willing to fight for their place to leave.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace on the final day of the season to round-off their miserable campaign.

Incoming boss Erik ten Hag was in attendance at Selhurst Park as the club recorded their lowest-ever points tally in the Premier League era.
Fortunately for United they were spared the embarrassment of playing in next season’s Conference League as West Ham’s defeat at Brighton ensured they would be in the Europa League.
But keeper De Gea told MUTV: “It’s the same feeling.
“The level we have shown in the last three or four months isn’t enough to win a Premier League match, we were sloppy, we lost some easy balls around our box, it’s impossible to win the games.
“I just want to be positive, to forget about this season.
“The new manager [Erik ten Hag] was in the stands, so that’s a good signal. I hope things will get better for next season.”
    Six of the worst
    Awful season ends in defeat
Manchester United clung on to sixth spot and qualified for the Europa League on the final day of the Premier League season, but that shouldn’t disguise what has been a terrible campaign for the Red Devils.
Indeed, 2021-22 was summed up by the feeble way in which they went down to a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
The loss in South London was their SIXTH AWAY LOSS IN A ROW, a Premier League first for the club and their worst run on the road since March 1981.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Man Utd
    Brighton 4-0 Man Utd
    Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd
    Liverpool 4-0 Man Utd
    Everton 1-0 Man Utd
    Man City 4-1 Man Utd

    Erik thrilled by Donny reunion
Erik ten Hag is excited at the prospect of linking up again with Donny van de Beek, who he coached to great effect at Ajax.
And the new United boss gave the greatest indication yet that the midfielder has a future at Old Trafford after being largely overlooked since he joined the club.
We had a fantastic squad in that time at Ajax. I really had a good relationship with him, and, of course, I am looking forward to meeting him again on the pitch.Erik ten Hag

    Ten Hag on Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United’s new manager has also batted away questions regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s Old Trafford future.
When asked what the Portuguese legend could bring to the Red Devils next season, the Dutch coach kept his cards close to his chest – although said he would be expecting more of what the 37-year-old does best.
[Ronaldo can bring] goals! But first I will talk with Cristiano before I talk with you…Erik ten Hag

    Ten Hag’s assistants are winners
Erik ten Hag has expressed his delight at sealing deals to bring Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag in as his assistant coaches.
They both know how to get success. They have both won titles and trophies in their careers and that’s why they’re here. Recruitment is an important part and I like to work with them.Erik ten Hag
    Ten Hag on Maguire captaincy
The new Manchester United boss has also been discussing Harry Maguire’s position within the club, both as a first choice central defender and as first team captain.
And while Ten Hag refused to be drawn on a definitive response to whether Maguire will keep the captaincy, he did state that he was excited by the prospect of working with him.
Next season is a different season. He’s done a great job, and he’s a great player. He’s achieved a lot with his contribution to Manchester United so I’m looking forward to working with him.Erik ten Hag
    Ten Hag on Rangnick’s role
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hinted that Ralf Rangnick’s new consultancy role was a decision made by the Old Trafford hierarchy.
However, the Dutchman suggested that he would welcome the opinion of others before ultimately making his own decisions.
It’s part of my analysis. I analyse by myself, I observe, I speak to a lot of people, but finally I’ll draw my own line. [Rangnick’s role] is on the club.Erik ten Hag
    Ten Hag: No risk involved
Erik ten Hag says there is no worry that his reputation could be tainted by the Manchester United job.
Instead, he hopes to build on the history of the club, and create more memories for the fans.
I don’t see it as a risk. This club has a great history, and now let’s make a future. I’m really excited to do that.Erik ten Hag

Ten Hag: Our plan is huge
Erik ten Hag says he has arrived at Old Trafford with a plan, but it’s not one that can be fully detailed in a short press conference.
The Dutchman intends to create a new dynamic within the club, and take advantage of the potential within the squad.
Our plan is huge. We have a strategy and a concept, and we will work on that. As manager I have to bring something to the club, a dynamic. If you want to be top you have to demand. That is what we will do. I have good feeling from people around me now, and it’s about getting the plan done.
I’m still in the process of analysing. I’m looking forward to working with these players. The season before, this squad was second in the Premier League and there’s huge potential.Erik ten Hag
Ten Hag: This is my home
Erik ten Hag’s first press conference as Manchester United boss is underway, and the Dutchman has begun by greeting the media, and reminding them that he is here to stay – and here to win.
I’m happy to meet you all, and I’m really excited to be here. It was a really warm welcome from the club. I’m looking forward to working with you all. This is my home now and I want to achieve success.Erik ten Hag
    Ten Hag to meet media
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is preparing for his first press conference at Old Trafford, and we’re ready to bring you live updates.
In the meantime, how’s this for one of the season’s most surprising statistics: United spent more time at the top of the Premier League during 2021-22 than second-placed Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds missed out on the title after three Manchester City goals in the final 14 minutes of the season, but only spent 11 days at the top of the table during the season.
United, in contrast, were in first position for 14 days across the campaign.
    Ten Hag knows his history
Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is well are of the club’s notable history, and is vowing to make some of his own.
The 52-year-old revealed that he has always been impressed by United’s fighting spirit, and hopes to rekindle that kind of belief in the coming seasons.
I know the history of Man United, I know the big times and the audience, the vibe that can be around Old Trafford. I watched them in their big times, when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager during the really successful times when they won titles and were dominating Europe.
But also before Sir Alex, Man United was a really big club, and I know names like Busby and Charlton that gave United a presence to the outside world from winning and winning in a spectacular way, winning so they entertain people. What stays with me is there was always a fighting culture. They fight together and they get success.Erik ten HagMUTV
    Erik: United squad has potential
Erik ten Hag insists that he will bring a new philosophy and outlook to Old Trafford, but does not expect to oversee a huge overhaul of the current squad.
The former Ajax boss believes there is plenty of potential within the current group of players, and he is excited by the prospect of working with them to unlock it.
First we must accept the current situation but also know that one year ago, this club, this team was second in the Premier League. There’s potential and now it’s up to us to get that out.
It’s a process, it will take time but I’m convinced we will come to that point where we get success. We have to work hard and it has to be based on the right philosophy and strategy.
We will have a break and then start pre-season on June 27. In certain positions we want to renew the squad, but as I said, one year ago this squad was second in the league, so there is potential and I’m really looking forward to co-operating with the squadErik ten HagMUTV
    United job a ‘big challenge’
Erik ten Hag was at Selhurst Park yesterday to watch his new team, and today will meet the media for the first time as Manchester United manager.
Ahead of his midday press conference, the Dutch coach has been speaking to MUTV and has revealed the reasons why he decided to take on the Old Trafford job.
The word is exciting. I really look forward to doing this job, at this club with massive history, and we want to restore it to where it belongs. First of all, we want to make the fans proud. Second, of course, we are in this moment, and the current situation is obviously not that good. It’s a big challenge.
I want to build and construct a team who are battling for each other, who are unified, and who will get results. We are playing in the Theatre of Dreams. We want to entertain. But in the end, the intention is to play fantastic football. If we can’t play fantastic football, we still have to win.Erik ten HagMUTV
    Bruno: We will bounce back
Bruno Fernandes has become the latest Manchester United player to take to social media to express his regret at their incredibly disappointing season.
However, the Portuguese international revealed that he is more convinced than ever that the Red Devils will rally and be ready to challenge next term.
He tweeted: “Season over and none of our goals was accomplished. I know that individually and collectively it was not at the level that we should be.
“For all of our fans once again you have showed to me why this is one of the biggest clubs in the world and that is because even in seasons like that you keep being behind us.
“I learned something really important since I came to the club and that is Manchester United always bounce back.”
    Breaking: McClaren back as coach
Steve McClaren’s return to Old Trafford has been confirmed with Manchester United announcing this morning the appointment of Erik ten Hag’s coaches.
McClaren was previously assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson for United’s memorable treble season in 1998-99, and helped the Red Devils win the Premier League in each of his three seasons with the club before departing in 2001.
McClaren links up again with Ten Hag, having previously worked together at Twente in the Netherlands.
Also arriving as part of Ten Hag’s backroom team is Mitchell van der Gaag.

The loss in South London was their sixth in a row away from home, a Premier League first for the club and their worst run on the road since March 1981.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Man Utd
    Brighton 4-0 Man Utd
    Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd
    Liverpool 4-0 Man Utd
    Everton 1-0 Man Utd
    Man City 4-1 Man Utd

    United confirm Cavani departure
Edinson Cavani signed off on his Manchester United career by playing 90 minutes at Crystal Palace yesterday.
The Uruguayan filled in for the absent Cristiano Ronaldo in what was his 59th appearance for the Red Devils.
The 35-year-old has scored 19 goals during his time in England, but is now searching for a new challenge.
Ralf Rangnick confirmed the striker’s departure after the game.
Speaking to MUTV, the interim United boss said: “Out of our starting XI, there will be ten – apart from Edi Cavani – who will still be playing for this club next season.”

    Good morning Manchester United fans
Ralf Rangnick received intelligence from Russia during his stint as Manchester United interim manager, reports suggest.
According to The Athletic, Rangnick was in constant contact with former Lokomotiv Moscow assistant Lars Kornetka during his six-month stint at Old Trafford.
The German tactician wanted to bring Kornetka with him to Manchester but he stayed in Russia due to commitments with Lokomotiv.
David De Gea has revealed his plans to stay at Old Trafford for next season.
“I want to forget this season and be 100% ready for next season. It has been horrible,” he told BBC Sport.
“Ones who want to stay, stay at the club. Ones that don’t want to stay go out. You don’t have to stay”.
Despite defeat at Crystal Palace, United managed to make the Europa League by virtue of West Ham’s defeat at Brighton, after the Hammers failed to capitalise on Rangnick’s men falling to a loss.
    Becks joins Hollywood royalty
Man Utd legend David Beckham joined Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell and Blake Lively to cheer on Wrexham in the FA Trophy final.
However, their presence couldn’t stop the Welsh side fall to a 1-0 defeat to Bromley.
Wrexham now switch their attentions to the National League playoffs.
    Will they get promoted?

    Bailly row
According to reports, Man Utd recalled Eric Bailly from Ivory Coast when staff discovered he was in a different location that was agreed upon.
Bailly returned home late from the African Cup of Nations, and injured too.
The Athletic reporter Laurie Whitwell says Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick tore into him when he returned in front of the whole squad.
    Russian intelligence
Ralf Rangnick received intelligence from Russia during his stint as Manchester United interim manager, reports suggest.
According to The Athletic, Rangnick was in constant contact with former Lokomotiv Moscow assistant Lars Kornetka during his six-month stint at Old Trafford.
The German tactician wanted to bring Kornetka with him to Manchester but he stayed in Russia due to commitments with Lokomotiv.
The two men have been working together for more than a decade at Hoffenheim, Schalke and RB Leipzig.
Rangnick rates his fellow German’s insight so highly that he has been tapping into him since the day he took over the Red Devils’ hotseat.
Kornetka would talk to the 63-year-old’s assistant Ewan Sharp on match days and the now former United caretaker boss always checked his phone at half-time.
    Real deal
Real Madrid have reportedly opened talks with Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni in a blow to a string of Premier League sides.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are among the teams who had been targeting the highly-rated midfielder.
Madrid will be hunting for high-profile summer signings after being snubbed by Kylian Mbappe on Saturday.
And journalist Santi Aouna reports that the Spanish club has been in contact and ready to make an offer.
    Ronaldo stat
Cristiano Ronaldo was MIA today for Man Utd in their defeat at Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils crashed to a 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park.
Incredibly, that’s 10 games he has missed this season – and even more astonishing is the fact United haven’t won any of those matches without him.
Not so much a “problem” then.

Man Utd owner Avram Glazer hints at summer transfer spree and admits he is ‘disappointed’ in woeful season

MANCHESTER UNITED owner Avram Glazer has hinted that the club could splash the cash in the upcoming transfer window. The Red Devils are expected to dip into the market under Erik Ten Hag having posted their lowest ever Premier League points tally.
Avram Glazer suggested the Red Devils could embark on a summer transfer spreeCredit: Sky Sports
Two central midfielders, plus a striker and a centre-half are top of Ten Hag’s summer wishlist.
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is one name on the list, but SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this month United face a battle to sign the former Ajax star.
Glazer though suggested funds will be available in the upcoming window.
When asked by Sky Sports if the club are able to invest before next season, Glazer replied: “We’ve always spent the money necessary to buy new players.”

The 61-year-old, a hugely unpopular figure among the United fanbase, was also asked if he was disappointed with the season just gone.
United posted a measly 58 points, finishing sixth-place in the table.
But Glazer initially said: “I don’t think this is the time to talk about that.”
Although he then conceded: “It is a disappointing season, it’s been a disappointing season for everyone and we’re going to work hard to make next season a better season.”

But Glazer is firm in the belief that Ten Hag is the right man to turn the club’s fortunes around.
When quizzed whether the Dutchman was up to the task, Glazer hit back: “That’s why we hired him, he’ll do a great job.”
United fans have protested against the Glazer ownership on numerous occasions this season.
Huge letters spelling “Glazers out” were unfurled before the 3-2 win over Norwich last month.
During the same game some fans refused to take their seats until the 17th minute to mark one minute for every year of Glazer ownership.
There were also protests during the final home game of the season against Brentford.
And just last week United fans got the term “#BoycottAdidas” trending on Twitter in a bid to target the Glazers’ stakeholders. More

First and foremost, Ten Hag was keen to hammer home the fact he is desperate for Man Utd to attack – including continuing interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s work to press high up the pitch.
Ten Hag told the Man Utd website: “We are playing in the Theatre of Dreams. We want to entertain.
“The intention is to play fantastic football. If we can’t play fantastic football, we still have to win.
“[We must] accept the current situation but also know one year ago, this club was second in the Premier League.
We have to do better.”
    WALKING IN FOOTSTEPS OF GIANTS
But Ten Hag admits he too must work hard as he aims to follow in the footsteps of Fergie, Sir Matt Busby and Sir Bobby Charlton.
The ex-Ajax chief continued: “I have to do my best and I will give everything, every day. Every day I will go to the maximum that I have, so hopefully I can continue their legacy.
“I know the history of Man Utd, I know the big times and the audience, the vibe that can be around Old Trafford.
“I watched them in their big times, when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager, during the really successful times when they won titles and were dominating Europe.

“But also before Sir Alex, Man Utd was a really big club and I know names like Busby and Charlton that gave Man Utd a presence to the outside world from winning, and winning in a spectacular way, winning so they entertain people.
“What stays with me is there was always a fighting culture. They fight together and they get success.
“The fans behind the ambience at Old Trafford… it will be fabulous and I’m really looking forward to getting that experience.
“I will give everything necessary to get Man Utd back where they belong.
“I’ve been aware of the massive presence and the massive audience around Man Utd.
“It’s all over the world, so I’ve been aware, and I will do my best and take responsibility to deliver them the success they need.”
“The way we did it [at Ajax] – with dominant, dictating football – that is the way I want to act in Man Utd as well.Erik ten Hag
Ten Hag covered himself in glory with his impressive success at Ajax, where his attack-first approach and faith in their youth system paid off in a huge way, particularly in 2018-19.
That season, Ajax were just minutes away from the Champions League final before Tottenham’s last-ditch comeback, while completing the Dutch league-cup Double.
And Ten Hag is planning to stick to his guns, adding: “Of course [there will be similarities], but you never can compare teams.
“The way we did it [at Ajax] – with dominant, dictating football – that is the way I want to act in Man Utd as well.
“But the competence and the quality of the players decide how you have to play.
“I know our opponents are highly motivated to beat Man Utd and we have to be ready for that. To go and win that battle.
“Even if they are over-motivated, we have to be more. We always have to be more willing to win the game than the opponent.
“We are playing in the Theatre of Dreams and have to entertain the opponent. We are playing in the opponent’s half and we have to do attacking football.
“We have to do the pressing, the total high-pressing and the adventurous football.
“Also Ajax has that history of bringing young talents into the first team.”
Ten Hag concluded his interview by insisting it’s “not about” him, but instead the team as a whole.
He claimed: “We don’t have to go over my football. It’s about the Man Utd football and about the Man Utd identity and philosophy.
“I think that you pointed it out: it has to be about attacking football. We have to bring structures in the way of playing, so we can play attacking football.

MANCHESTER UNITED’S painful season concluded in yet more miserable fashion when they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.Though new boss Erik ten Hag was in attendance to watch the game at Selhurst Park as he begins his preparations for next season.
Paul Pogba is set to leave the club after seven years on a free, with reports the Frenchman has agreed a deal with Juventus.
United have been linked with a move for Jurrien Timber from Ajax and Jonathan David from Lille as they look to get their summer transfer business started.

    De Gea to stay
David De Gea has revealed his plans to stay at Old Trafford for next season.
“I want to forget this season and be 100% ready for next season. It has been horrible,” he told BBC Sport.
“Ones who want to stay, stay at the club. Ones that don’t want to stay go out. You don’t have to stay”.
Ten Hag will have his own ideas.
    Premier League 2021-22
This is where we finished, and who did what in terms of European qualification.
    Title: Manchester City
    UCL: Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs
    UEL: Arsenal, Manchester United
    UECL: West Ham
    Relegation: Burnley, Watford, Norwich
    Europa League for United
So, it’s Europa League football for Man Utd next season.
The Red Devils lost away to Palace, but with West Ham slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Brighton it didn’t matter.
They finished sixth in the table, and will want a better season next campaign.
Ten Hag, who was in attendance, has a hell of a job on his hands.
    Brighton level
United are back up to sixth and a Europa League spot – thanks to a Brighton leveller.
It’s Veltman with the goal, that slipped through the grasp of Fabianski in the Hammers goal.
Ten Hag could get his hands on his first silverware there then.
And I’m sure United fans will get added satisfaction in seeing Man City fans currently suffering – as they trail at home to Villa.
    As things stand
    Champions -Man City
Champions League – Liverpool – Chelsea – Tottenham
Europa League – Arsenal- West Ham
    Relegated – Burnley
United look like they’re headed to the Conference League.
    Zaha haunts United
It’s the former United man who gives Palace the lead at Selhurst Park.
Wilfried Zaha, who couldn’t get a look in at Old Trafford but is so often Palace’s talisman, with the goal.
Patrick Vieira always loved coming up against Man Utd.
Will he win against them as a boss too?
    Spot ten Hag
Erik ten Hag is in attendance at Selhurst Park! The incoming Man Utd boss is watching his new players in action against Crystal Palace alongside assistant Mitchell van der Gaag.
He doesn’t seem to be too happy either with what he’s seen so far.
Lots of work to do, he surely ponders.

Cavani and Mejbri start for Manchester United
Ralf Rangnick has named Cavani in his last game as Manchester United manager against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils are without Cristiano Ronaldo this afternoon, who is unavailable with a hip injury.
In addition, the Austrian has called up teenager, Hannibal Mejbri. Harry Maguire also returns to the back four.

Man Utd starting XI for today
Here is the team showing what they have in front of new gaffer Erik ten Hag.
    19-year-old Hannibal Mejbri starts.

Will the kids play? – Line up revealed in two minutes
Man Utd are set to give the kids a chance against Crystal Palace as Charlie Savage among youngsters spotted travelling to London.
Savage, 19, could make his Premier League debut after being named in the travelling squad for their final game of the season, writes Jake Lambourne.
The Red Devils face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday in a game that will decide what European competition they will be playing next term.
Failure to beat the Eagles could see United drop down into seventh and into the Uefa Conference League.
United must claim the three points in South London or hope West Ham fail to beat Brighton at the Amex Stadium to secure a place in the Europa League.
And United could decide to give their youngsters a chance, with Charlie Savage, Shola Shoretire and Alvaro Fernandez all named in their squad.
The trio were snapped before making their way down to the capital, where they will be looking to impress incoming manager Erik ten Hag should they be given any game time.
United ‘need a reset’, says Mata
Mata went on to say United need a “reset” after a tough few seasons, demanding players “meet the standards” required to turn out for the club.
He said: “Being at Man Utd, this club needs first-class individuals for each department.
“This club should be top of the class in every department, on pitch or off. That is the only way I see this club competing for the biggest trophies.
“That’s what I hope for in the near future, otherwise you cannot compete with clubs who are doing very good things with a certain identity and professionalism in the way they make decisions.

“When you think about Man Utd you think about the best level possible, as far as I understood football growing up.
“I don’t understand this club without having first-class individuals for each department.”
Mata continued: “We have made many mistakes… we could have also dealt better with certain situations that were happening in the club, managers changing, negative things.
“Certain standards were not met. Whether that’s attitude, level of training, off the pitch, which doesn’t include players, we haven’t been good enough.
“We need a reset in the culture of the club. That’s how I feel.
    Mata could stay in Manchester
Juan Mata has hinted he could sensationally STAY at Manchester United, writes Dave Fraser.
The long-serving Spanish playmaker, 34, was widely expected to quit Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer with his contract expiring, despite rumours of retiring or going into coaching.
But Mata has confirmed he will hold off making any decisions until he has spoken to Ten Hag – who will officially start work on Monday, following United’s final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Mata told The Athletic: “I will see when we speak how we feel, what his ideas are…
“After that a decision will be made.”
    Rangnick admits Ronaldo compromise
Ralf Rangnick also laments his asking of a 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo to be part of a high-pressing side.
He continued: “I am not blaming Cristiano at all, he did great in games, but he is not a pressing monster.
“Even when he was young, he wasn’t shouting, “The other team has the ball, where can we win balls?

‘It was the same with quite a few other players so we had to make compromises at one stage.
“We never found the right balance between what do we need with the ball and without the ball.”
    Rangnick shoulders the blame
Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick blames himself for the club’s collapse this season, writes Chisanga Malata.
The German was brought in to steady the ship following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure last November but failed to get the squad to completely buy into his philosophy.
Rangnick’s failure to adapt his strategy to his squad’s strengths has left United in a final-day battle for the Europa League spot that comes with sixth place.
And he shoulders the blame for the club losing their last five away matches on the bounce, saying: “We never came near to that aggressive, pro-active football I’d normally want to do.
“It has to do with physicality if you want to play like that. I should have done better and developed this team in a more sustainable way.”
Savage and co in the United squad today

Luke Shaw could be missing on Sunday
The Red Devils face the Eagles away at Selhurst Park in their final Premier League game of the season TODAY.
Luke Shaw is a doubt to feature for Manchester United against Crystal Palace on Sunday following the birth of his second child.
    Congratulations Luke and Anouska!
Ronaldo to miss Prem finale through injury
Cristiano Ronaldo has withdrawn from Manchester United’s squad for today’s Prem finale at Crystal Palace with a hip injury.
The Red Devils need victory to seal sixth place.
But 24-goal top-scorer Ron, 37, is suddenly sidelined.
Spurs ‘pave way for Utd on Johnstone’
Manchester United could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Fraser Forster instead.
Manchester United could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Fraser Forster instead.
Red Devils’ second-choice stopper Dean Henderson could be loaned out, with Bournemouth and Fulham keen.
And United have been linked with Johnstone long before Erik ten Hag was named as incoming manager.
Red Devils’ second-choice stopper Dean Henderson could be loaned out, with Bournemouth and Fulham keen.
Even Legends can’t salvage Utd pride
United’s Legends were humbled just as much as the mediocre current squad have been this season as Mark Gonzalez hit a stunner in a 3-1 Charity match win for Liverpool’s oldies.
The former Chile midfielder only spent one season at Anfield in 2006-07 – scoring two Premier League goals.

But he notched a superb 30-yard free-kick past United sub keeper Kevin Pilkington and a stoppage-time clincher.
A goalless first half was played in high spirits for good causes, including the Man Utd Foundation, with £1.3million raised as Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher captained the two teams and the likes of Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Andriy Voronin took part.
But Liverpool came flying out of the blocks in the second 45.
Replacement forward Luis Garcia’s cheeky stepover beat Raimond van der Gouw all ends up and Garcia rounded the keeper to roll in the opener.
Dimitar Berbatov won a penalty three minutes later to coolly slot in for 1-1.
But Dirk Kuyt hit the post for Liverpool before Gonzalez struck twice to give them victory.
    Cottagers want Matic talks
EXCLUSIVE: Fulham want to talk veteran Nemanja Matic into staying in the Prem after he leaves Manchester United, writes ALAN NIXON.
The Championship winners are keen to bring the ex-Chelsea midfielder back to London.
Matic, 33, has played a key role at United lately and is still very capable at the top level.
But he is choosing to move on rather than be part of Erik ten Hag’s revolution.
Foreign interest in Matic is great but he could get a deal that works for him at Fulham and can slot back into life in London, after two great spells with the Blues.
Matic revealed he would leave United last month in a lengthy statement on social media.
