And his absence continued in their match against Aston Villa in Perth on Saturday, July 23.

Man Utd face more transfer woe over Leroy Sane with Bayern Munich not wanting to sell ex-Man City winger this summer

MANCHESTER UNITED face more transfer woe as reports suggest that Bayern Munich do not want to sell Leroy Sane. The former Manchester City winger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his attack.

So far United’s signings this summer have focused on midfield and defence.
And in recent weeks it appears the club’s energy has been consumed on their frustrating pursuit of Frenkie de Jong and the psychodrama of Cristiano Ronaldo.
United have also made little headway in their interest of Ajax star Antony.
But it appeared the Red Devils might have been making progress on their reported attempts to bring in superstar Leroy Sane.

But reports today suggest Bayern have no intention of letting the 26-year-old go.
German transfer expert Christian Falk tweeted earlier today: “Bayern don‘t want to sell Leroy Sane.
“Til now Bayern and the Agency of Sané have [had] no offer [from Man United].
Reports from earlier this week suggested United had made an enquiry on the German.

The winger is on the shortlist despite his successful spell at rivals Man City.
He left the Etihad in 2020 for £40m but has had to fight for football at Bayern, competing with the likes of Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and now Sadio Mane for a place in the team.
During Man City’s outstanding Centurion season, Sane hit 10 goals and managed 15 assists.
He has not always managed to hit the same level of consistency at Bayern since his move.
Sane is one of a number of targets linked to Old Trafford as the club look to get more bodies over the line before the transfer window closes.
PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo, Wolves star Pedro Neto, Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma and Crystal Palace wide man Michael Olise are all believed to be on United’s radar. More

With the legendary forward wanting to leave, United have been shopping around for firepower this window, and landed on former West Ham star Arnautovic.
Reports earlier this week indicated The Red Devils were lining up a shock bid for the 33-year-old.
However, it has now been revealed by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio that United have submitted an offer for him.
But current club Bologna have rejected a £9m bid.

The Austrian scored 14 Serie A goals for them last season, so it is understandable why they would be reluctant to let him go.
Premier League fans will be all-to-familiar with Arnautovic, with him spending six years in English football at Stoke City and West Ham.
The attacker scored just 22 times for Stoke in 145 games, with his creative side being more potent throughout his time at The Potters.
His record at West Ham was far more impressive, contributing 40 goals in 65 games.

Arnautovic left West Ham in 2019 in favour of the Chinese Super League, before returning to Europe with Bologna last season.
United boss Erik ten Hag, who has placed Ronaldo on the bench for his first-ever game against Brighton, knows Arnautovic well.

A move worth around £6.8million has been discussed by the two clubs but a deal has yet to be agreed.
Not surprisingly, Arnautovic is believed to be keen to be reunited with Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
The pair previously worked together at FC Twente when current United No2 Steve McClaren was in charge.
He went on to play for Stoke and West Ham in the Premier League before moving to China in 2019 and he then went to Italy last season.

Ten Hag refused to confirm the story, saying: “I don’t go into names, it is pre-season, maybe 250 players have been linked with Manchester United so that is it.
“We have two strikers, maybe a third with Marcus Rashford – but he had a really good pre=season on the left side.”
It is understood if Arnautovic does move to United, it would be as a squad player rather than a regular starter.
United have also spoken to RB Salzburg about a move for Benjamin Sesko although the Austrian side are reluctant to let their teenage forward go.

CRISTIANO RONALDO started the new season on the bench for Manchester United against Brighton – and looked far from happy.New boss Erik ten Hag left the star out of his starting XI for today’s clash at Old Trafford – his first competitive match in charge of the club – and it backfired as they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat.

Ronaldo appeared to be struggling to find a smile as he took his place on the sidelines before he was introduced in the 53rd-minute – but he was unable to spark a comeback.
Ten Hag’s short Red Devils reign so far has been dominated by questions over Ronaldo’s future.
The star, 37, missed the tour of Bangkok and Australia for family reasons and played just 45 minutes since then, in last week’s draw with Rayo Vallecano, which he left before the final whistle.
The Portuguese icon is desperate to leave the club to play in the Champions League.

But with a lack of offers coming in, the wantaway superstar and his new boss are in limbo.
CR7 is still a United player, after failing to secure an exit in this transfer window.
Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have all passed up opportunities to sign him.
While boyhood club Sporting Lisbon and even Turkish giants Galatasaray have been linked.

Recent reports suggested Ronaldo had “put the squeeze” on new boss Ten Hag to start him against the Seagulls.
However, the brave boss showed his authority by only naming the icon as substitute.
Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez both made their debuts for United against Brighton after joining this summer. More

‘Allow him to go’ – Wayne Rooney tells Man Utd to let Cristiano Ronaldo quit – and advises them who to sign as new No9

WAYNE ROONEY has urged Manchester United to let Cristiano Ronaldo quit Old Trafford – and told them what type of striker they should replace him with. The former Derby manager struck up a glorious partnership with Ronaldo during their time together at the club during the noughties.

Now the new DC United boss has cast his eye over the troubles of his former team-mate, who has been agitating to leave the club this summer.
United have so far held firm and they have been helped by the fact huge clubs like Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have turned down the chance to bring in the 37-year-old.
Uncertainty hangs over the forward ahead of Erik ten Hag’s Premier League opener today against Brighton, especially following Ronaldo’s pre-season antics.
But Rooney has suggested it would be in both party’s interest to let him leave.

He wrote in his Sunday Times column: “United are doing everything to bring Frenkie de Jong in and they could certainly do with a midfielder. A No9 too
“I think United should let Cristiano Ronaldo go.
“It’s not that Ronaldo can’t play in a Ten Hag team. He can play in any team. Ronny will always score you goals.
“But my personal view is that United aren’t ready to challenge for the title now, so the aim has to be to build a team that can win the league in the next three to four years, and you have to plan for that.”

Rooney, 36, adds that United should be looking for a No9 who they can build around over the long-term.
He said: “If the reports are true that Cristiano wants to leave the club, then United should allow him to go and get a No9 in who is going to be there for the next three or four years and really help them build a team that can be successful.
“Ten Hag has to be given time to do it.”
United have been linked with multiple strikers in the last few weeks of this transfer window.
Marko Arnautovic has been tipped with making a shock switch to Manchester from Bologna.
The former West Ham forward, 33, has scored 15 goals in 34 appearances in Serie A since arriving at the beginning of last season.
Ten Hag’s team have also been been linked to Stuttgart star Sasa Kalajdzic.
He is the tallest striker in the Bundesliga at 6ft, 6in and the Premier League side have reportedly held “initial talks”.

There’s also the chance that United may just settle with what they have following Anthony Martial’s encouraging pre-season.
But he won’t be involved against the Seagulls today due to his injury, opening the door for a Ronaldo appearance. More

Erik ten Hag ready to get ugly with Man Utd as new boss vows to do all he can to win games for long-suffering fans

ERIK TEN HAG wants to turn Old Trafford into the home of the beautiful game but will win ugly if he has to.Manchester United’s new boss kicks off his Old Trafford reign against Brighton today, aiming to turn the fallen 20-time champions into top dogs once again.

But the manager from the nation which gave the world ‘total football’ is equally determined to do it in style.
The Dutchman may be a Premier League new boy but he is well aware winning alone has never been enough at United.
And he is relishing the chance to put smiles back on the faces of long-suffering fans as much as points on the board.
Ten Hag insisted: “That’s why I am here and I like it. United want to win but win in a certain way — pro-active, brave and with adventure.

“I think that belongs to the culture here and we want to bring that in.
“Me, the staff and the players have to do everything to bring success back on to the pitch.
“Every day you have to bring the maximum of what you can, then you will develop individually and as a team.”
Yet Ten Hag is only too aware the hallmark of a successful side is the ability to grind out results when you are not playing well.

He said: “If you cannot win in a good way, an entertaining way, that is the mentality and the attitude we have to bring.
“Sometimes there will be games when you will not play well but you still have to win.”
Ten Hag has previous for dragging sleeping giants back to their feet, after turning a young Ajax side into one of the most exciting in Europe.
But doing likewise at Old Trafford, on the back of last term’s dismal Premier League campaign, is another matter entirely.
Cristiano Ronaldo wants out — something United bosses insist will not happen — and there is still no sign of sealing a deal for top transfer target Frenkie de Jong.
On top of that, supporters plan another protest against the Glazer owners before the upcoming game with Brighton, with feelings as heated as ever.

It has made for a stormy start to Ten Hag’s tenure — and he has urged fans to turn Old Trafford into a bear pit for opponents instead.
He added: “It’s clear this stadium is meant to bring over a fight, so I hope for good co-operation.
“We know we have to give the example on the pitch. But if we have the right attitude — and by that I mean hard work and being brave — then the fans will like it and it will bring the fight back.
“Every game is a challenge so we have to get the best out of it. There will be setbacks but we’ll have to deal with that.

“That is the attitude we all need. And when you show it and have a good plan, in the end you will achieve success. I am 100 per cent confident of that.
“I see the potential in many players in this squad and, yes, I am convinced I can develop the team. You cannot change the past but you can change the future.” More

Dean Henderson is on loan at Nottingham Forest so cover is needed.

The search has put Nathan Bishop’s loan move to Wycombe on hold and even stopped 36-year-old Tom Heaton going elsewhere for the season.
But the Red Devils are sending highly-rated defender Charlie Wellens to Crewe on loan.
