“[I needed] stiches in my foot. I was playing and the ball was at the other end and we had had a few tussles in the game.
“He was game, trust me. The ball went out at the other end and he just stamped on my foot and there was no ball about anywhere.
“I went in at half time and when I took off my boot it was the worst thing I could have done.
“My foot just went wooosh [mimics foot swelling], I had to get stitches, I had an injection, and I put my boot back on and went out and played.

Chelsea transfer blow as Frenkie de Jong ‘doesn’t want to leave Barcelona AT ALL’ despite contract dispute

FRENKIE DE JONG has dealt Chelsea a huge blow in the transfer market after telling them he doesn’t want to leave Barcelona, reports suggest.Chelsea looked set to hijack De Jong’s transfer to Manchester United, but now it appears they could suffer the same fate as their Premier League rivals by failing to land him.

The Dutchman’s future has been a hot topic this summer, with Barcelona reportedly trying to force him out of the club in order to prevent them breaking financial fair play rules.
The Spanish giant’s attempts to register a number of new signings has been rejected by LaLiga owing to their excessive wage bill, which the sale of De Jong would pay for.
They are even said to have threatened him with legal action to revert back to his pre-2020 deal after finding “evidence of criminality” around the contract given to him by the club’s old board.
Regardless, De Jong has no plans to leave.

As reported by Sport, the 25-year-old told Chelsea owner Todd Boehly of his intention to stay days ago, with the American then calling him to try and convince him.
However, De Jong reaffirmed his desire to see out his contract at Barcelona which runs until 2026, and “does not want a move in any form.”
Barca boss Xavi and club president Joan Laporta have both expressed their wish to keep De Jong at the club, and the midfielder’s performance in their last game shows why.
Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has claimed to “know for a fact” that De Jong does not want a transfer to Man Utd.

But their disappointing performance against Brighton, particularly midfielders Fred and Scott McTominay, during Erik ten Hag’s first game will make their need for De Jong even more desperate.
This being said, they have reportedly agreed a £15million deal to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
Chelsea in contrast to United won their opening game against Everton.
And despite a staggering outlay of over £160m on transfers, the club don’t appear to be finished yet.
Deals for Leicester’s Wesley Fofana and former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are said to be in the works. More

But now comes the tough part — sorting out personal terms with his fiery agent and mother Veronique.
Previously, she has clashed with sporting directors, demanded to meet managers and attend training sessions.
And more nightmare negotiations are the last thing United need following a frustrating summer trying to land key targets and a disastrous opening-day defeat to Brighton.
Veronique wanted to go on a pre-season tour after her son signed his first pro forms with Paris Saint-Germain.

She said: “My son is a hostage of the club, he will soon live in prison on bread and water.”
She also scuppered a move to Spurs in 2018 over her wage demands.

And in amongst the glum mood around Old Trafford was a report that the club were looking at trying to sign 33-year-old former West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic.
It was claimed live on air that United have had an initial bid rejected by Serie A side Bologna as they eye up the possibility of replacing an unhappy Cristiano Ronaldo.
After hearing of United’s failed offer for the Austrian, Neville interrupted Sky presenter Dave Jones to say: “The first thing you do when the phone rings from Manchester United is reject the bid.
“The reality of it is you know full well, they’ve lost that game today, they’re actually negotiating from an even worse position than they were yesterday and that’s a bigger problem for them.”

When pressed on Arnautovic, Neville then added: “We’ve seen it with Falcao, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Ighalo – these desperate, sort of experienced signings.
“We’ve seen it now for eight or 10 years, it’s a pattern, it’s happening time and time again.
“We don’t even get angry, we don’t even get animated about it anymore. It’s got to the point where I don’t even want to comment about it.”
Keane then backed up Neville’s view by piling in on his former club’s current transfer policy.

The Irishman said: “Who’s making these decisions? Who’s deciding which players are going to come in?
“They’re talking about Darren Fletcher as technical director, they’ve got a new coach, John Murtough is obviously involved, there’s a new chief executive, there’s talk about them going back to Alex Ferguson and David Gill.
“My goodness, what is going on?
“It’s alright having the money, you’ve got to get the right players in with the right character.”
Neville then finished the segment with a damning indictment of United’s lack of forward planning.
He added: “The money that was needed to rebuild that squad this summer… they knew six months ago, eight months, 12 months ago that there was going to need to be investment this summer.

“All those players that were leaving like Mata and Matic and all the other ones that have left.
“They knew they had a problem with Martial not having been fancied in the past, Cristiano coming to the end, Cavani leaving, obviously the situation with Greenwood not in the club anymore.
“All these things have been known for a long time, it’s not as if it’s just hit them now.”

It was a nightmare start for United, who eventually turned to the forward in the 53rd-minute but he was unable to inspire a comeback.
However, Ronaldo was given more match minutes today as the Red Devils took on non-league Halifax in a behind-closed-door friendly.
The game with the National League outfit is taking place at United’s Carrington training HQ.
And the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward was not the only big-name to start.

The game was organised by United to give some much-needed minutes to those that did not feature from the start at Old Trafford against the Seagulls.
Centre-halves Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof were joined in the backline by full-backs Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Young guns James Garner, Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho were also included while veteran goalie Tom Heaton was between the sticks.
Ten Hag will be desperate for Ronaldo to get more match practice as he hinted that he could turn to the ace for the weekend’s trip to face the Bees.

He admitted that his team’s performance improved once the five-time Ballon d’Or winner joined the action as they trailed 2-0 against Brighton.
The United boss told Sky Sports: “It was clear to see in the second half we were better in the midfield, Christian Eriksen down and Cristiano Ronaldo up.
“We created and had really good chances. It is a pity we didn’t score them.”

And Ten Hag is confident Ronaldo’s fitness levels will improve after he missed pre-season due to family reasons.
The Dutchman added: “It takes time, you cannot force it. He is one week in training.
“He has to do more to get fit. This game will help and he will be better next week.” More

Erik ten Hag should QUIT Man Utd if he doesn’t get his transfer demands met by greedy Glazers who MUST sell now

ERIK TEN HAG should walk away from the Manchester United job if the club doesn’t supply his summer transfer targets. The Dutch boss has requested Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong, a right-back, plus a striker.

His swift departure could finally force the Glazer family out of the clubCredit: PA
And if the owners can’t provide him with the trio, he should say “thank you very much,” and leave the club.
It would expose the Glazer family for what they are, heighten tension amongst United’s loyal supporters even further, and hopefully force the careless, greedy American owners to sell.
A deal for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot is reportedly imminent.
But he’s not Ten Hag’s preferred choice as United would’ve signed him two months ago when he was put up for sale.

Alarm bells about United’s transfer strategy were ringing long before the humiliating opening day home defeat to Brighton.
What we saw on the pitch only re-emphasized the desperate position United are in.
Ten Hag is the latest manager not to be backed sufficiently, as the Glazer family run our once great football club into the ground.
Nine of the team that started against Graham Potter’s side were part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick’s squad last season – so really nothing has changed, just the latest helpless coach in charge, trying to navigate his way through a truly awful situation.

It’s not the players’ fault, they certainly looked like they were trying and their performance in the second half, after going two goals behind, definitely wasn’t one of a team that didn’t care.
The truth is most of them are just not good enough.
David de Gea doesn’t command his area and isn’t good enough with his feet. Diogo Dalot can’t defend.
Harry Maguire should never have been given the captaincy.
Fred and Scott McTominay are spoilers trying to blag a career in the centre of midfield, and Marcus Rashford after an impressive pre-season, looks troubled once again.
    WALK AWAY
If Ten Hag did call it a day though, I bet the majority of United fans wouldn’t blame him.
The board knew the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard were leaving, yet they haven’t even replaced them.
I don’t know what was said or promised during Ten Hag’s interview and/or when he accepted the job.
I’d be amazed, given what he saw last season, and the lack of quality, if he didn’t insist on much more than what he’s been given.
Yes, the whole world knows how highly De Jong is rated by him, but while that pursuit was ongoing, couldn’t United have signed a forward and additional right sided defender?
It raises the question about funds and how much Ten Hag really has at his disposal.
    Read More on The Sun
United have the money, ten Hag needs to spend it, and if the owners don’t give him a hand before the end of the window, you should book yourself a holiday Erik, and wait for another club in Europe.
One that is run likes a football club and one that will help you take your next team where you think they should be.   More
