MANCHESTER UNITED could be about to give up on signing Ajax star Antony, according to reports.Boss Erik ten Hag sees the Brazilian as a major target after working with him in Amsterdam last term.

United have so far been priced out of a move, with the Eredivisie champions demanding £68million for their winger’s signature.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils will give up on signing him this year, unless one of two factors come into play.
They claim that Antony handing in a transfer request could tempt them back into negotiations.
With the 22-year-old under contract until 2025, Ajax are under no pressure to sell this summer.

But he could attempt to force their hand by asking out.
Alternatively, United would be interested in returning for Antony if Ajax were to lower their asking price.
This seems unlikely, however, given the Dutch side’s previous sales this summer have reduced their need for cash.
Ajax have already sold Lisandro Martinez to United, as well as flogging Sebastien Haller, Ryan Gravenberch and Nicolas Tagliafico elsewhere for a combined £100m.

And Henderson admitted he had no interest in talking to new United manager Erik ten Hag before joining Forest.
He said: “I didn’t really want the manager to see me in training because I knew he’d probably want to keep me.

That is not enough for boss Erik ten Hag to start him in their Prem opener at home to Brighton on Sunday.
Ten Hag wants to stick with the front three of Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford that served him so well on the pre-season tour.

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly in talks with Sevilla over a potential deal for Alex Telles.The left-back has been linked with a move away following the arrival of Tyrell Malacia earlier this summer.

And discussions between United and Sevilla are ongoing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Reports yesterday suggested Sevilla are one of three clubs interested in Telles.
The LaLiga outfit are believed to be leading the race to sign the 29-year-old Brazilian.
Portuguese outfit Porto were rumoured to be keen, although they have not tabled a bid and are not in the running for his signature.
Telles originally joined the Red Devils from Porto in 2020 after scoring 26 goals in 194 games for the Portuguese giants.
But it’s Spanish side Sevilla who are the current frontrunners to sign him from United.
Telles seems to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford under new boss Erik ten Hag.
He is one of a number of fringe stars United are reportedly willing to part ways with in order to fund a transfer spree.

Marcus Rashford netted only four times in the top-flight, five in all comps, in a below-par campaign.
But Ferdinand, who won six Prem titles and the Champions League at Old Trafford, reckons new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag can get the best out of the England forward.
Ferdinand, 43, told the Five podcast: “Marcus, shut everyone up. You have had a pre-season, no injuries now, blast up the Premier League please.
“Last season his body language was affecting me. He didn’t look happy. I spoke to him about it. Even if you aren’t happy you have to go on the pitch and act. That’s what players do.
“Sometimes I wasn’t happy with certain things behind the scenes but you wouldn’t know that with the way I played. Marcus, for whatever reason, allowed that to creep into his performances.
“This season he will be happier. He’s had a pre-season, no injuries and from what I have seen him talk about, he has a manager that he believes in what he is saying.
“If all three of those things play out this season, Marcus Rashford will come good.” More
