MANCHESTER UNITED target Antony was reportedly forced to train alone at Ajax, with the Dutch champions said to have resisted a bid of £67.5million.But it is often the case that a player nearing a move does not take part in competitive training, in case they get injured and scupper any looming deal.

Manager Erik ten Hag moved from Ajax this summer and has already gone back to sign Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez for £56.7m.
And Tan Hag is keen to make Brazil winger Antony next in line, according to The Athletic.
With the Daily Mail reporting the star is keen on the move and may be left out of the squad for Sunday’s clash with Sparta Rotterdam.
United are also eyeing another winger from the Eredivisie, in PSV’s Cody Gakpo.
Former Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson was at Ibrox to spy on the player in PSV’s clash with Rangers on Tuesday.

Ten Hag’s reign has started in disastrous fashion, losing their first two Prem games, and with star player Cristiano Ronaldo making it clear he wants out of the crisis club.
United have already moved to strengthen their powderpuff midfield with a megabucks deal for Real Madrid star Casemiro.

But they desperately needed reinforcements in time for Monday’s clash with bitter rivals Liverpool in the Premier League and Casemiro was not registered in time.
The club have been chasing Dutch star Frenkie de Jong all summer, with Chelsea also strongly in the hunt.

United fans have long complained that the ‘McFred’ midfield duo of Fred and Scott McTominay is not good enough to restore the club to its former glories.
But with Casemiro, and at least one of Antony or Gakpo on board, it could the boost the club so badly need.
But, for now, Ten hag must struggle on with his confidence-shot squad ahead of Monday’s showdown with Liverpool. More

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag ‘doesn’t know what Cristiano Ronaldo wants to achieve’ by planning explosive interview

ERIK TEN HAG is baffled why Cristiano Ronaldo is planning a tell-all interview and insists the legend has NOT told Manchester United he wants to leave.Old Trafford chief Ten Hag said: “I don’t know what he wants to achieve” when asked about striker Ronaldo talking up an explosive interview.

And questioned by Sky Sports the Dutchman claimed he is confident of bringing in the “right” new players before the transfer window shuts.
Ten Hag also believes the stats BACK under-fire new centre-back Lisandro Martinez.
And he reckons club chiefs made him manager to change the club’s mentality.
Ten Hag gave an “extended interview” to United legend Gary Neville and ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher on Friday night ahead of Monday’s huge Old clash between the two big rivals at Old Trafford.

Nev put to the ex-Ajax chief: “One of the greatest players of all time (Ronaldo) is posting on social media that he’s going to tell the truth in two weeks.
“How does that help you? How does that help the players in the dressing room?”

Ten Hag replied: “I don’t know what he wants to achieve with that.”
Carragher then asked: “If you have a player that doesn’t want to be here, could it not be a statement for you as a manager to say, ‘Ok, the club has to move him on if he doesn’t want to be here’?”

But Ten Hag responded: “That’s not what he is telling us.”
And asked about 5ft 9ins Martinez, who was taken off at half-time in the 4-0 loss at Brentford, he said: “The data shows he is dominating.. I could have subbed 11 players.”
Former England right-back Nev went on to suggest “recruitment – from outside – looks like a mess”.
Ten Hag insisted he was “confident” of landing the “right players, not any players” in the next 13 days.
But questioned on whether signings were his choice or the club’s, he said: “It’s together.” More

How difficult is it really for Glazers to sell Man Utd with owners making millions a week off New York Stock Exchange?

THE GLAZER family are said to be willing to offload part of their stake in Manchester United. But how does selling a football club work? Sun Business editor ASHLEY ARMSTRONG explains.
Controversial owners Avram and Joel Grant might be reluctant to sell Man Utd, not least for financial reasonsCredit: Getty
Man Utd have other huge problems to deal with such as manager Erik ten Hag knowing legend Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leaveCredit: Alamy
HOW hard could it be to pull off a Red Devils’ takeover?
Manchester United is a publicly traded company after the Glazers listed the business on the New York Stock Exchange for $2.3billion in 2012.
In Britain, takeovers of public companies are relatively straightforward — a bidder makes an offer to buy all the shares that are traded and the shareholders vote in favour or not.
In the US, companies can have two classes of shares with Class A shares not being as powerful as Class B shares.

The Glazers own 96.7 per cent of United’s Class B shares, which also have 67 per cent of the entire company’s voting rights.
This means that even if all of the investors in United’s publicly traded Class A shares want a takeover, the Glazers have enough of a blocking vote with their B shares to oppose a deal.
In addition, the Glazers also own United through a Cayman Islands vehicle, which has laws that can delay or prevent a change in ownership.
    Most read in Football
WHAT are the rules of the game?
In the UK if there are takeover rumours, there are rules that state a bidder must make an offer or walk away within 28 days.
No such thing exists in the US but Glazers’ control limits the chances of a hostile deal, so a bidder would have to make a ‘friendly’ offer and get them on side first.
Within ten days of a takeover offer,   United would have to say whether it recommended or resisted a bid.
HOW much could  United be sold for?
In takeovers, bidders have to typically offer a premium to what a company is worth — the ballpark is usually 30 per cent.
After the recent rise on the back of takeover speculation, United’s shares are trading at $2.23bn (£1.85bn) and according to its last accounts it has around £540m worth of debt.
The total valuation adds up to around £2.65bn — stick on a normal premium and that gets you north of £3.3bn.
What is more unpredictable is ego in dealmaking — how much extra will the Glazers want to feel like they’ve done a good deal and not lost money or face?
That’s why a valuation of around £4bn has been touted although the Glazers might want as much as £5bn.
    WHAT about United’s debt?
This has been a sore point for fans, with more spent on interest payments at one point than in the transfer market.
But a takeover should mean that the club’s debts would be reworked.
The problem is that interest rates are rising at the moment, which means raising takeover financing through loans and bonds is trickier and more expensive.
HOW could a deal be done?
The names in the frame so far all have deep pockets.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is one of the UK’s richest men, worth  around £11bn.
The United fan made an offer for Chelsea but is understood to have been the lowest bidder.
United has more of an emotional pull for him though and that could soften his stance.
Apollo, a US private equity firm, has over $500bn of assets and this month raised a $13bn new fund.
Bankers caution that Apollo famously doesn’t like to overpay.
Private equity use their funds to put very little cash  into a takeover and a lot of debt. More

What makes Casemiro so good and why he could finally get Man Utd’s midfield ticking as Real Madrid transfer edges closer

CASEMIRO will be a success at Manchester United if Erik ten Hag uses him the right way. That’s according to La Liga expert and former Red Devils striker Terry Gibson.

Spanish football analyst Gibson explains why the Brazilian will help Ten Hag get the best out of his defenceCredit: Rex
The Old Trafford club have settled on a £60million transfer fee with Real Madrid for the 30-year-old midfielder.
Casemiro has already agreed personal terms on a deal worth a whopping £350,000-a-week.
Boss Erik ten Hag is looking to improve his defensive unit following a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford.
And Gibson says the Brazilian, if part of the right system, will provide Ten Hag with a sizeable upgrade.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
He told SunSport: “Casemiro is a serial winner in terms of his mentality.
“It might be a tough start for him right now at Man Utd but if you look at his qualities, his pedigree, his career, and his experience – it should be a success.
“But I think it’s important that United use him exactly the same way as Madrid did.
“I think it would be disrespectful to Fred and McTominay [to say he’ll replace them both], but you are talking about a player that’s played for Real Madrid for a decade and won five Champions Leagues.

“He should be an obvious upgrade. My hope is that he’ll play in front of the back four on his own.
“He should be that first line of defence in front of the back four.
“I hope for United’s sake they can ask him to do exactly the same job he did at Real, which is quite straightforward but he does it really well and really effectively.
“I think he’s better suited playing as that one holding midfield player and allowing others to go and express themselves.”
Gibson lauds Casemiro’s character and insists the three-time La Liga champion will bring some toughness to United’s midfield.
He added: “His aggression is good. I think the Premier League will suit him in terms of aggression.
“In Spain, he got away without picking up a red card. He is clever at making professional fouls, and cynical fouls, yet only picking up one yellow rather than two.
“He’s always been clever enough to get away with it to be honest.
“Personality wise, he is really good. He’s a great personality. He rubs people the wrong way if you don’t support the team he’s playing on.”
The former forward says ‘serial winner’ Casemiro will add aggression to the clubCredit: Rex
Some have suggested that those in charge at Manchester United need to focus on the team rather than trying to build a brand.
Criticism has been fired at the club’s transfer strategy for chasing players who don’t want to come or aren’t available.
However, Gibson reckons Casemiro could start to give the Old Trafford faithful something to cheer about.
He explained: “United supporters will be clapping because he’ll be mopping up danger and putting his foot in, spotting things, covering the fall backs or defending just in front of the back four.
“Of course, that’s what they need. That’s what they’ll be clapping for.
“He’s most effective in covering the gaps that the other players leave, whether that’s his midfield team-mates, full-backs or even centre-backs.
“He’s excellent at attacking set-pieces, getting onto knock downs from corners and free kicks because of his determination and his will to win.
“He isn’t lightning quick, doesn’t get about the pitch a great deal but defensively, he’s solid.
    Read More on The Sun
“If people are expecting him to start bringing the ball down and beating two or three players then they’re interested in Frenkie de Jong, two totally different players.
“Casemiro will catch the eye if Man Utd start conceding less goals, more clean sheets. You know, people might then appreciate his worth.”
Terry Gibson spoke to SunSport on behalf of Spanish football podcast La Liga Weekly. More

Crystal Palace interested in bringing Aaron Wan-Bissaka back this transfer window and ending Old Trafford nightmare

CRYSTAL PALACE are open to bringing Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to the club in a bid to end his Manchester United nightmare. The right-back is not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans for the season having struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since his £45million move from Selhurst Park in 2019.

Palace chiefs have discussed the possibility of bringing the academy graduate, who left for a club-record fee, back to south London this summer.
While they would consider a deal, the Eagles are waiting for a final and firm decision over price and whether Manchester United would either let Wan-Bissaka leave on a loan or permanent deal.
The 24-year-old started 20 games in the Premier League last season but struggled to get into the side once Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has not featured yet this term – despite United’s desperate start.
Ten Hag has lost his first two games in charge, defeated 2-1 by Brighton on the opening day before being thumped 4-0 at Brentford last weekend.
    Read More on Man Utd
The Dutchman would need to bring in a replacement at right-back were Wan-Bissaka allowed to leave given he is currently the only cover for first choice Diogo Dalot.
Patrick Vieira, the Palace manager, currently has both Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne to choose between at right-back, while Nathan Ferguson could be an option if he can stay fit.

While Vieira has options in the position, none are considered long term given the age of both Ward and Clyne, meaning a move could happen if United are open to it and the fee is considered good value for Palace.
Palace have already added four new faces this summer with Chris Richards, Cheick Doucoure, Malcolm Ebiowei and Sam Johnston all arriving.

As well as considering Wan-Bissaka, Palace could be in the market for a forward following the departure of Christian Benteke to DC United.

Van Dijk’s side travel to Old Trafford next and many supporters are fearing a hammering after losing 4-0 to Brentford in their last game.
Liverpool also beat United 5-0 at Old Trafford only last season, seeing thousands of disgruntled Red Devils fans seeking to escape the embarrassment at half-time.
Dutch defender Van Dijk, in what many will label as mind games, said: “They are a good team in my opinion, they have good players all over the pitch.
“Obviously they’re not in the best situation confidence-wise, but it’s the perfect game to turn it around for them.”

However Liverpool have problems of their own, drawing their first two Prem games, to already languish four points behind champions Manchester City.
To add to their worries, they are also missing star signing Darwin Nunez after the striker was sent off for head butting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen in their 1-1 draw.
Liverpool were already light up top on the back of losing Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.
