But the 20-year-old has now revealed he actually intends to play for The Red Devils one day.
In an interview with ESPN’s Dutch branch, he was asked what one team he would want to play for in the future was.
He responded with “Manchester United” and burst out into laughter at the irony of the statement.
Brobbey also revealed he had received a message from United boss Erik ten Hag during the window.

“Erik (ten Hag) sent me a message, yes. To congratulate me, and to tell me that he would like to have me there in Manchester,” he said.
“But I’m not done at Ajax yet, I want to show something here first.”

Brobbey has already hit the ground running in Amersterdam this season too, scoring two goals and contributing a further two assists in the opening five games.
The striker is actually yet another product off of the Ajax conveyor belt, but RB Leipzig snapped him up as a teenager in 2021 before loaning him back to Ajax again for the season.

They then completed the cycle by selling Brobbey back to Ajax.
After the departures of a number of Ajax stars, including Ryan Gravenberch to Bayern Munich, Sebastien Haller to Borussia Dortmund, and Lisandro Martinez and Antony to United, Brobbey has been afforded an excellent opportunity to establish himself.
And if he and Ten Hag both get their respective wishes a transfer could well materialise by next summer. More

It is a proposition too good to pass up as the Spaniard’s contract expires in the summer, so he will be available on a FREE at the end of the season.
And according to Bild, Bayern remain interested in trying to acquire his signature.
Barca president Joan Laporta recently confirmed an offer has been made to Gavi as they are keen to renew his contract.
But he is currently refusing to put pen to paper, something which is baffling the Catalan giants.

Speaking to L’Esportiu, Laporta said: “Gavi’s agent has the new contract proposal on the table for a long time but he has not accepted yet.
“We don’t understand… I don’t like the situation. I encourage them to accept it as soon as possible, because it also helps us plan.”
It has been reported that Gavi has a release clause of £41million, something Man Utd, Liverpool and Bayern could have chosen to trigger in the most recent window.
But with the player potentially available for nothing in 12 months time, the sensible option was to wait.

It is widely accepted that Barcelona see Gavi and fellow Spanish teenager Pedri as the future of their midfield.
But with Europe’s top clubs chasing him and Xavi’s men in a perilous financial situation, they may not have a choice but to let him leave the Nou Camp.
Gavi has made 51 appearances for Barcelona, scoring twice and assisting a further six goals.

They have already netted 11 times, thrashing Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid and Sevilla. More
