Saint-Maximin, 25, has long been regarded as one of the best players outside the Premier League’s “Big Six.”
But the winger’s performances under Eddie Howe in Newcastle’s first three matches have been nothing short of sensational.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in a summer swoop.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have also been linked as they look for a sixth attacker.

But Media Foot claims Man United are now lining up a mega-money bid after beating Liverpool 2-1 on Monday night.
The Red Devils want to sign at least one winger this month, with Ajax’s Antony and Cody Gakpo on their shortlist.
But Saint-Maximin is entering his fourth campaign in England and knows the Premier League inside-out.
His technical ability and dribbling skills make him a defender’s nightmare.

And Saint-Maximin ticks all the boxes Erik ten Hag is looking for in a wide-man.
Incredibly, Toon boss Howe was looking to SELL his star player just a few months ago.
    It’s reckoned Newcastle value Saint-Maximin at £40million.
And they may have already landed a replacement after striking a deal to sign Watford forward Joao Pedro. More

Man Utd 2 Liverpool 1: Sancho and Rashford strike to hand Ten Hag first win of season and heap more misery on Klopp

ERIK TEN HAG has lift-off.Having put a rocket up his players the week before, the response came.

It’s one small step for Ten Hag, but in light of the first two games and the opposition, it really is one giant leap for Manchester United.
When it’s against Liverpool, the dominant force in English football alongside Manchester City, it just means more.
Jadon Sancho after 15 minutes and Marcus Rashford in the 53rd got the goals to ensure a first league victory over their fiercest rivals in four years.
    How Old Trafford loved it.

Ten Hag made some big calls here dropping the club captain Harry Maguire, and the biggest name in Cristiano Ronaldo.
    They worked.
Something had to change after opening defeats to Brighton and the humiliation at the hands of Brentford.
    It did.
He said he made the changes to get more ‘mobility’ at the back and upfront, he got that.

The best chance Liverpool had of scoring, until Mohammed Salah’s late goal, was when Bruno Fernandes diverted a ball towards his own goal, hitting team-mate Lisandro Martinez on the line.
There was a new fizz about the United frontline with Anthony Elanga excellent, Sancho looking more like his normal self, Rashford out of his shell, Anthony Martial on in the second half and in the action.
Fernandes had been given the armband in the absence of Maguire and may hang on to it for a while yet.
The responsibility suited him as he found his passing range once more.
Christian Eriksen slightly deeper pinged balls around too.
There was no messing at the back anymore.
This team simply cannot play out from the goalkeeper. Ten Hag gets it now too, so David De Gea was sending kicks straight to halfway.
The tenacious Scott McTominay was digging in to claim anything loose and defy his critics of which there are too many.
United should have been ahead after ten minutes thanks to his brilliant through ball for Fernandes.
Seeing Joe Gomez racing across the Portuguese midfielder slid along the ground and hooked the ball past him square to Elanga.
He had time, he had the target, he beat the goalkeeper with his shot but the ball hit the right-hand upright.
Just five minutes later and United were ahead.
Eriksen and Elanga played a neat one-two with the latter squaring for Sancho.
The former Borussia Dortmund winger had so much time and space, he took a couple of touches and turned as James Milner slid across him.
He was able to take another couple as Virgil van Dijk inexplicably continued to stand off him.
Fernandes, ahead of Sancho, pointed to the empty side of the goal in which to shoot in and he obliged.
Old Trafford went mad and Milner went mad with Van Dijk.
Elanga was electric tearing between two Liverpool players, forcing a foul out of Trent Alexander-Arnold for which he would be booked.
Eriksen took the free kick, firing a shot to the far top corner which the fingertips of Alisson diverted over.

At half-time, it was roars rather than the usual boos that greeted the players.
A nervous-looking United had been transformed by Ten Hag over the last week.
Liverpool had looked unconvincing in drawing their first two games and did so again.
Loose passes missing their target were greeted with roars from the United fans.
Ten Hag made a change at the break with Elanga coming off for Anthony Martial who had missed the opening two games with a hamstring injury,
He had looked sharp in pre-season scoring in each of their first three games on tour in Bangkok and Australia, one of them in a 4-0 win against a depleted Liverpool.
He looked sharp here too. Martial moved into the middle, Rashford went wide left and when in the 53rd minute Jordan Henderson miscontrolled on halfway they combined.
Martial slid a great ball through, Rashford was one-on-one, a situation he comes off second best in too many times – not this time.
Striding on to the ball he steered a shot past the advancing Alisson and in.
Charging off, his pent-up frustration was released as he picked up the corner flag and threw it to the ground.
It was tight for offside but VAR ruled in Rashford’s favour.
Old Trafford was bouncing like it hadn’t been for a very long time.
But hang on, with nine minutes left Liverpool got one back when substitute Fabio Carvalho shot was saved and Mohammed Salah headed home the loose ball that popped up.

‘One of the dumbest decisions in football history’ – Piers Morgan slams Man Utd boss for dropping Cristiano Ronaldo

PIERS MORGAN saw Manchester United’s new-look attack KO Liverpool – after he branded Cristiano Ronaldo’s axing “one of the dumbest decisions in football history” .The Sun columnist and TV star suggested boss Erik ten Hag should be sacked for benching Ronaldo as the Red Devils would inevitably lose – only for United to sink their winless big rivals 2-1.

Axing Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘abysmal’ says Piers Morgan, and Harry Maguire was also dropped for he clash with LiverpoolCredit: AP
Ten Hag benched Ronaldo and skipper Harry Maguire – as thousands of fans joined protests against club owners the Glazers outside Old Trafford.
But Ron’s replacement Anthony Elanga teed up Jadon Sancho’s brilliant breakthrough goal and sub Anthony Martial supplied Marcus Rashford with the second goal.
And Ronaldo only came on after Mo Salah hit an 81st minute consolation when Jurgen Klopp’s men surged forward.
But huge Arsenal fan Morgan posted before kick-off: “Benching @Cristiano for Elanga against Liverpool, even by current abysmal Manchester United standards, is one of the dumbest decisions in football history.

“Ten Hag should be fired for this alone if they get hammered tonight.. or should I say WHEN they get hammered.”
But Morgan, who has backed Ronaldo heavily over the summer, got a mixed response for his blast on social media.
United, though, finally shone after opening the season with two straight defeats.
And some fans believe Ronaldo was axed because of his possible effect on squad morale.

One such message was: “You’re too reactive piers. I can understand why he’s done it.”
But others argued it’s folly to leave out a player of Ron’s class – especially as United are short of proved hitmen.
Typical of that view was this tweet: “He’s absolutely finished so this is the right decision.”
One fan posted: “Lol it’s a team sport and Elanga contributes more.”
And another argued: “We’re called Man United FC not Ronaldo FC. Just like it’s Arsenal FC not Aubameyang FC.”
Morgan has defended Ronaldo fiercely in recent weeks.
He branded all-time United great Wayne Rooney “jealous” for suggesting Ron might have to sit out against Liverpool.
And last week Morgan posted: “Pathetic to see Cristiano getting all the media headlines/blame for this United fiasco.
“Without him & his 18 PL goals last season they’d have been relegated, and without him this season – WHEN, not if he leaves – they might well be relegated.
“Whole club is rotten from top down.” More

Man Utd ‘launch transfer bid for Kevin Trapp as they target Eintracht Frankfurt keeper as competition for David de Gea’

First choice keeper David De Gea is claimed to be unsuited to the Dutchman’s preferred style of play, so United officials have been scouting someone who is comfortable playing out from the back.
And according to Bild, Trapp has emerged as a priority target.
Man Utd have already made an offer for the 32-year-old, who was part of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa League-winning squad.
It’s currently unclear how much the offer was worth or whether the bid will be successful.

Trapp may also decide to reject the move if he is not promised regular first-team football at Old Trafford – something that he is guaranteed at Frankfurt.
The goalkeeper joined the Bundesliga side on a permanent basis in 2019 – one year after a season-long loan spell at the Waldstadion.
He has since made 261 appearances for Frankfurt and kept 59 clean sheets.
Ten Hag could bring in Trapp to REPLACE De Gea, who has experienced a disastrous start to the Premier League campaign, as United’s No1.

De Gea has conceded six goals so far – two against Brighton in the opening match at Old Trafford and four against Brentford.
Meanwhile, United loanee Dean Henderson has had a fantastic start to the season with Nottingham Forest.
He helped Steve Cooper’s side to a 1-0 win over West Ham two weeks ago by saving a penalty from the Hammers’ skipper Declan Rice.
The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on a few other targets for the position over the past few weeks.
They are currently in the race to sign Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos along with Prem rivals Leicester City.
Southampton’s Alex McCarthy is also on the transfer shortlist. More
