Napoli slap £102m price tag on Victor Osimhen and must sell star to seal Cristiano Ronaldo transfer from Man Utd

United boss Erik ten Hag initially opposed the 37-year-old’s departure, but has since opened the door for him to leave.
The Portugal international was dropped for United’s last two games which they’ve won consecutively.
The Red Devils followed up their emphatic 2-1 win over Liverpool with a comfortable 1-0 victory against Southampton on Saturday.
Ronaldo’s banishment to the bench is likely to have increased his desire to quit Old Trafford.

But he’s had a tough time finding a suitor thus far with a host of clubs including Borussia Dortmund declining his services.
However, it’s emerged that Napoli are open to bringing the ex-Juventus star back to the Serie A.
Reports claim Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been trying to engineer a loan move to Napoli for his client which involves a swap deal for Osimhen.
And Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti refused to rule out a swoop for Ronaldo when quizzed about the potential transfer.

But the Times claim Napoli are now looking to sell Osimhen for £102m to fund a move for Ronaldo.
The club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is a long-time admirer of Ronaldo, and is willing to show Osimhen the door to bring in the attacker.
Osimhen was once a target of Arsenal and Tottenham, but only fellow interested party Newcastle may be willing to splash over £100m on the star.
And if they do manage to offload Osimhen, Ronaldo’s hefty £360,000-a-week wages shouldn’t be a problem for Napoli as Laurentiis plans to use Italy’s “inpatriate” tax laws to aid their pursuit.
The law provides tax cuts for Italian clubs buying foreign players from abroad – which means Napoli could save upto 50 percent on Ronaldo’s wages.
A move to Napoli could be the answer for Ronaldo as they can offer him the chance to play Champions League football – unlike United, whose absence from this season’s competition fuelled his desire to leave. More

And on yesterday’s evidence it was easy to see why.
Sommer, 33, smashed the Bundesliga record for most saves made in a single match.
The experienced goalie denied Bayern an incredible 19 times – the previous record standing at only 14.
His amazing repertoire of saves included a remarkable double effort against Sadio Mane, as well as a one on one with Leroy Sane.

Marcus Thuram gave the visitors the lead against the run of play on the stoke of half time, profiting on a Dayot Upamecano mistake to run through and squeeze a left-footed effort beyond Manuel Neuer.
Sommer’s heroics preserved his side’s precious lead until the 83rd minute, when Sane was finally able to sweep the ball beyond him following Jamal Musiala’s cutback.
SunSport revealed that Man United scouts were in attendance at Sommer’s last match against Hertha Berlin a week ago.
And it’s impossible that they came away unimpressed by the 6ft stopper.

Convincing him to join and potentially play second fiddle to De Gea, however, will be difficult – with United looking at a number of alternatives.
Norwich stalwart Tim Krul has come up as a potential option.
While the Red Devils were turned down by Eintracht Frankfurt ace Kevin Trapp.
They have made an offer for Newcastle ace Martin Dubravka, with the 33-year-old reportedly “begging” Toon chiefs to let him go.

ANTHONY MARTIAL is set for talks over a contract extension – two months after his Manchester United career looked dead and buried.Martial has made such an impression on Erik ten Hag that the new manager sees him as having a key role in his plans.

And insiders insist that for his part, the French striker is also far happier than under recent Old Trafford regimes.
Martial, 26, spent nearly 18 months expressing a desire to leave, and was loaned to Sevilla in January after his agent insisted he wanted a new club.
That turned into a frustrating stay and he returned this summer with the Spanish club unable to raise the cash to make it a permanent deal.
Yet he has had a new lease of life since ten Hag arrived, and the Dutchman has told Martial he has a big part to play.

He still has nearly two years left on his current £250,000-a-week deal.
But United top brass are set to open talks in the coming weeks over an extension.
They want to protect their investment by avoiding him entering the final season of his contract with nothing sorted.
And that could see Martial being offered fresh terms which take him up to the age of 30.

He cost an initial £37 million when he signed from Monaco in 2015, which has risen by around a third thanks to various bonuses and clauses.
Martial is desperate to go to the World Cup, and initially felt his only chance would come with a transfer.
But he had an impressive pre-season and on Monday marked his first United appearance since January with an assist in the win over Liverpool after coming off the bench for the second half. More

But while SunSport exclusively revealed that new Blues owner Todd Boehly was eager to bring CR7 to Stamford Bridge, Tuchel himself was not so keen on the idea.
He was advised by good friend Rangnick not to pursue a deal for the Portuguese ace, according to the Sunday Times.
Rangnick knows Ronaldo well, having managed the forward during his six-month spell as interim boss at Old Trafford.
And despite the wantaway star being United’s top scorer last season, netting 24 goals in all competitions, the now Austria boss told Tuchel not to sign him.

Earlier this summer The Athletic claimed United had discussed the potential of selling Ronaldo in January – a month after Rangnick’s arrival.
The German repeatedly told club chiefs in the winter that Ronaldo should be sold and replaced.
Rangnick also said Ronaldo was not suited to the pressing style he attempted to implement during his miserable tenure in charge.
Speaking after guiding the Red Devils to their lowest ever Premier League points tally, Rangnick said: “Cristiano Ronaldo, and I’m not blaming him at all, he did great in those games.

“But he’s not a pressing monster. He’s not a player, even when he was a young player, who was crying, shouting ‘hooray, the other team has got the ball, where can we win balls?’
“The same with quite a few other players so we had to make some compromises at one stage, maybe we made a few too many – that’s also possible.”
And it has now reportedly come to light that Rangnick told his old pal Tuchel that bringing Ronaldo to Chelsea was a bad idea.
That’s despite reports earlier this month frim Sky claiming the Blues were still potentially interested in a move for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
As well as Chelsea, the superstar forward has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Napoli, as well as an emotional return to Sporting Lisbon, having told United he wanted out.
But with just five days left of the transfer window, time is running out for Ronaldo to secure a move away. More
