That includes the likes of Youri Tielemans and Douglas Luiz, with Leicester and Aston Villa just about holding onto their stars amid interest from Arsenal.
There are many big-name players who could be available on a cut-price deal in January due to their contract status.
Here, SunSport takes a look at ten of those players.
    Marcus Rashford
The England star has a lot of interested suitors including Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who considered a bid for the striker his summer.

But Rashford, 24, is a firm part of Erik ten Hag’s plans and Manchester United would likely demand a significant fee to let him leave, even if his contract is expiring in June.

    Jorginho
Chelsea will be keen to avoid a repeat of this summer when they lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen for nothing – with Juventus already eyeing Jorginho.
But the Italian insists he loves the club and is 100 per cent focused on success with the Blues, while reports claim Chelsea will hold talks with his representatives about a new deal this month.

Kante, 31, was also subject to transfer interest this summer due to his contract situation.
He is highly regarded by Thomas Tuchel but it is possible United could look to snap him up on a free, particularly if Chelsea want to sign Declan Rice as his replacement next summer.

    Wilfried Zaha
Crystal Palace reportedly fear losing Zaha, 29, for nothing with the winger not planning to extend his contract.
Arsenal are long-term admirers while Chelsea considered a late bid this week after failing to sign first-choice Anthony Gordon.

    Luke Shaw
United reportedly plan to offer Luke Shaw a bumper new contract worth £190,000 a week that will keep him at the club until 2026.
That would make him one of the highest earners in the squad despite his frequent injury issues, with the left-back, 27, at risk of losing his place in the side to Tyrell Malacia.

    Youri Tielemans
The Belgian, 25, was subject to intense transfer speculation but a proposed move to Arsenal or Newcastle never came to fruition.
Both clubs were likely deterred by Leicester’s £38m asking price so could try and snatch him away in January when he should be available for a much smaller sum.

    Douglas Luiz
Arsenal reportedly had three offers for the midfielder rejected by Aston Villa on deadline day.
Luiz, 24, was said to be open to the move so the transfer could be resurrected in January if the Gunners retain their interest in the Brazilian.

    Gavi
The highly-rated Barcelona youngster was of interest to Liverpool this summer with the Reds said to have been prepared to meet his £50m release clause.
However, it appears Gavi, 18, is more likely to extend his contract at the Nou Camp with club president Joan Laporta revealing negotiations were in the final stages.

    Jan Oblak
The Slovenia international has been a faithful servant to Atletico Madrid over the past eight years but could be ready for a new challenge.
If he does run down his contract several clubs around Europe are likely to be put on high alert with the likes of United, PSG and Chelsea linked to the 29-year-old in the past.

‘It’s not nice, it all felt rushed’ – Cody Gakpo slams Man Utd as failed transfer left him in wilderness on deadline day

CODY GAKPO has taken a swipe at Manchester United after he failed to secure a move there from PSV.The 23-year-old has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs late on in the window.

Manchester United explored the possibility of signing him when a deal for Ajax attacker Antony proved difficult, although they eventually got it over the line, and now the star has admitted he thought he was set for Old Trafford.
The Dutchman said: “At the beginning of the window United had reported ‘very calmly’. We were waiting for that.
“It was getting closer and the signals were getting more positive.
“Then you think: it might fall that way. But eventually that option faded a bit, actually only last week.”

Southampton were also keen on the ace and rumours had suggested they agreed a £34million fee with the Dutch club.
Leeds chief Victor Orta then travelled to Holland to try to negotiate the transfer but Gakpo has turned them down after he allegedly refused to board a plane to England to finalise the transfer to Elland Road yesterday.
After deciding to stay at PSV, Gakpo explained: “I’m glad it’s over. For me it was the first window where it was stay or go.
“In the last week it was looking at what was the right thing to do. I feel at home here, in my own city. Everyone knows how I feel here. But of course there are other things at play and I think you should have all the options. I did that too.

“In the end, PSV came up with a good offer that seemed to be the right choice.”
After admitting he had held talks with several Premier League clubs, he said: “There are more factors at play. The World Cup also played a role.
“I spoke to the national coach. I called him and asked for advice. The advice was clear: that I had to follow my gut feeling, but that a transfer before the World Cup is not really ideal for the player, because then you have to get used to something. I agreed with him.
“It was all last minute for me, because until last week I thought I was going to Manchester.
“Then it was choose another club and decide whether I wanted to go there. That is not nice for PSV and also not for me, because it felt rushed.”
The seven-time capped Netherlands ace has been in incredible form this season.
In just nine matches he has netted seven goals and six assists.
He is on track to better his tally from last season of 21 goals and 15 assists. More

Top 10 most expensive summer transfers with Man Utd leading the way and just two non-Premier League deals

THE transfer window has closed once again and managers know exactly who they have at their disposal until it all starts over again in January. And it was a record-breaking summer with the Premier League splashing out a whopping £2BILLION on new signings.

Chelsea were the biggest spenders this summer with new owner Todd Boehly writing cheques totalling £260m to give Thomas Tuchel nine new players.
But who were the biggest signings of the summer 2022 transfer window?
    1. ANTONY – Ajax to Man Utd – £85.5m
The transfer saga that rumbled on and on and had more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie classic, Antony finally signed for United on deadline day for a staggering £85.5m.
Erik ten Hag was desperate to add the Brazilian winger to his attack and paid more than double what United had initially hoped to land him in the biggest transfer ever on deadline day, surpassing Gareth Bale’s record.

    2. WESLEY FOFANA – Leicester to Chelsea – £70m
Another deal that seemed to take an age to get over the line was Wesley Fofana’s switch to Chelsea.
The Leicester defender went on strike, refused to train and then took a cheeky swipe at Brendan Rodgers after completing his “dream” move to Stamford Bridge.
The £70m is the initial fee – as with the rest in this list – making him the third most-expensive defender ever after Harry Maguire and Virgil van Dijk but it could rise to £75m in achievable add-ons.

    3. AURELIEN TCHOUAMENI – Monaco to Real Madrid – £68m
Aurelien Tchouameni’s move from Monaco to Real Madrid seems like it was done a lifetime ago, such was the frantic nature of the closing stages of the window.
The European champions identified their target and got the France international in early to integrate him in the squad, where he is hitting the ground running alongside compatriot Eduardo Camavinga.

    4. DARWIN NUNEZ – Benfica to Liverpool – £64m
Liverpool were one of several clubs to splash the cash on a new No9 this summer and landed Darwin Nunez from Benfica despite interest from Manchester United.
He made an immediate impact with goals in the Community Shield and then at Fulham on the opening day before shockingly headbutting Joachim Andersen to earn a three-match suspension.
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate that is a one-off incident and the Uruguayan converts his hot head into a hot streak.

    5. CASEMIRO – Real Madrid to Man Utd – £60m
With a deal for Frenkie de Jong failing, Ten Hag knew he needed to bring in another midfielder and made a sudden swoop for the experienced Brazilian midfielder Casemiro.
The five-time Champions League winner could cost up to £70m and is being paid a staggering £350,000 per week for an initial four years – a huge investment for a 30-year-old who has never played in England.
Tchouameni’s arrival meant Casemiro was not even a guaranteed starter under Carlo Ancelotti anyway – and the fee essentially covered the cost of the new signing.

    6. ALEXANDER ISAK – Real Sociedad to Newcastle – £60m
Eddie Howe was determined to add a striker to his Toon squad – and he certainly did that by landing Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad.
The Sweden international smashed the club record with his £60m move and wasted no time getting to grips with the Premier League by blasting in 38 minutes into his debut at Liverpool.

    7. MATTHIJS DE LIGT – Juventus to Bayern Munich – £57m
Matthijs de Ligt was dubbed one of the next generation of elite centre-backs but it did not quite work out for him at Juventus as hoped.
Bayern Munich were not put off, though, and splashed out big money on the Dutch defender who will likely form a solid partnership with Dayot Upamecano for many years.

    8. MARC CUCURELLA – Brighton to Chelsea – £55m
Despite having £50m Ben Chilwell who plays in the same position, Chelsea decided to spend an initial £55m on Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
The Spanish left wing-back, who can also play in a back three, was also a target for Manchester City but they refused to pay what the Seagulls demanded.
Among the other new arrivals at Stamford Bridge this summer were Raheem Sterling (£47.5m), Kalidou Koulibaly (£35m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12m) on deadline day.

    9. ERLING HAALAND – Borussia Dortmund to Man City – £51m
He may have cost £51m but Erling Haaland is already looking like an absolute bargain with nine goals – including two hat-tricks – in his first five Premier League games.
City, who Haaland’s dad also played for, won the race for the Norwegian’s signature ahead of some of Europe’s biggest teams after triggering his low release clause at Dortmund.

    10. RICHARLISON – Everton to Tottenham – £50m
Completing the top ten – eight of which are Premier League signings – is the £50m move Richarlison made from Goodison Park to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The deal could rise by a further £10m for the Brazil star who has more keepy-uppies than goals and assists combined so far under Antonio Conte after riling Nottingham Forest players and supporters with his cheeky showboating.

Arsenal backed up their big spend in 2021 with another serious investment in the squad as Mikel Arteta brought two former players to The Emirates – Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko – among many others.
North London rivals Tottenham also spent heavily and got their work done early with no fewer than eight signings – £60m Richarlison was their biggest outlay while Ivan Perisic signed on a free.

Leicester 0 Man Utd 1: Jadon Sancho’s winner heaps more pressure on rock bottom Foxes and boss Brendan Rodgers

FROM the depths of crisis to fifth in the Premier League in the space of ten days, Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United’s have lift-off. And after Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford continued to fuel this min-revival, can the United duo now earn a place on the plane to Qatar in November?
Jadon Sancho celebrates Man Utd’s winning goalCredit: PA
Sancho netted for the second time in United’s three-match winning run, after a classy assist from Rashford, as United deepened the air of despair around Leicester and piled further pressure on Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers.
Gareth Southgate had claimed that Sancho and Rashford had a long way to go to force their way back into his World Cup plans, as both suffered an alarming plunge in form last season.
Rashford enjoyed a bright first half here but struggled after the break and may still have a lot more convincing to do but he is a favourite of Southgate, who needs more goalscoring options.
And with £82million Antony newly arrived from Ajax, competition for places in the United forward is about to get stiffer.

Transfer deadline has now passed without Cristiano Ronaldo getting away from Old Trafford as well.
So Ten Hag has plenty of options and a certain level of optimism is creeping into a team which was humiliated in that horrific first half at Brentford last month.
The transformative victory over Liverpool, when Sancho and Rashford both scored, has now been followed up by back-to-back away wins.
Yet Leicester were poor, they are a team which looks to have had the lifeblood sucked out of them after a miserable transfer window.

It only takes one window of weakening to see a club plummet down this league, so competitive and ambitious are many of the top flight’s smaller clubs.
Leicester, who have allowed Kasper Schmeichel and Wesley Fofana to leave, have fallen into that trap and one point from five games leave Rodgers in desperate need of a result at Brighton on Sunday.
United face a serious test of their growing confidence when leaders Arsenal arrive at Old Trafford defending a 100 per cent record at the weekend.
But there has been steady progress. This is a team finding its balance and shape after a lengthy period of chaos.
Two victories and two statement signings had already improved the mood significantly at United.
Antony and midfield anchor man Casemiro may have cost the sharp end of £150m but the two Brazilians will add quality to Ten Hag’s squad.
Antony was not signed in time to feature here, while Casemiro started on the bench but there had been a feeling that Ten Hag was getting to grips with his task in those victories over Liverpool and Southampton.

Ronaldo, whose jailbreak had failed, and former Leicester man Harry Maguire, again started on the bench.
And Leicester, who have won both the Premier League and FA Cup more recently than United, had replaced their visitors as the designated crisis club of the week.
But after a frustrating summer, the Foxes had at least managed to get their first outfield signing over the line, with Belgian centre-back Wout Faes arriving from Reims for £15million.
And Youri Tielemans, wanted by Arsenal among others, started here to end any lingering fears that he might head off before the deadline.
It was scruffy to begin with, Christian Eriksen whistling a shot just wide and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s free-kick met with a comfortable save from David De Gea.
But United’s opener, midway through the first half, was sweet in its simplicity.
Diogo Dalot fed Bruno Fernandes down the right and the Portuguese found Rashford, whose cute pass allowed Sancho to round a flailing Danny Ward and slot into an empty net.
Cristiano Ronaldo came off the benchCredit: PA
Rashford was lively, his movement causing problems for Leicester’s defence, and he almost teed up a second for Sancho, whose shot was blocked.
And Fernandes was here, there and everywhere, dictating the match as he used to in his early days as a United player.
Harvey Barnes curled one just wide of the far post but United were looking the more assured side, the Foxes struggling for rhythm and confidence.
The home support was growing increasingly frustrated and there was isolated booing at the half-time whistle.
There was more positivity around the place early in the second half when a James Maddison free-kick, from almost 30 yards out, was struck with venom but was pushed away from the top corner by De Gea.
It was a mark of Leicester’s improved threat that Ten Hag brought on Casemiro, in place of winger Anthony Elanga, just before the hour mark.
    Read More on The Sun
Maddison, though, was beginning to cause United serious problems and he was wrestled over by Scott McTominay just outside the area but this time his dead-ball effort was charged down.
Ronaldo arrived in place of Sancho midway through the second half and he soon attempted a bicycle kick from an angle, yet duffed his effort wide across goal.

West Ham transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka AXED from Man Utd squad despite claims Ten Hag ‘rejected’ bid

ERIK TEN HAG has reportedly rejected a late West Ham bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka – but the defender has been left out of Manchester United’s squad to play Leicester. The big-spending Hammers, who have forked out upwards of £100million this summer, are eager to bring in more defensive reinforcements before the window shuts.

And according to the Metro, manager David Moyes has had a late inquiry over Wan-Bissaka knocked back by Manchester United.
They claim Ten Hag is a fan of the 24-year-old and wants to keep him as “back up” for Diogo Dalot.
Despite this, the Englishman was left out of the squad entirely for Thursday night’s clash with Leicester.
It’s unknown how much West Ham were reportedly willing to pay the Red Devils for the former England Under-21 international.

Wan-Bissaka was United’s first-choice right-back for two seasons following his £50million arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019.
But he’s yet to impress Ten Hag enough to be handed a starting berth this season, with his sole appearance lasting a meagre four minutes.
Ten Hag, however, is a self-professed fan of the wingback – who he insists will feature plenty this season.
The Dutchman said this week: “Aaron showed in the past that he is a constant factor at United. I have trust in him.
“I haven’t seen him that much because he was injured in pre-season.
