Conte admits that the North Londoners have been “struggling” in high-level Premier League matches and their track record this season proves that.
Tottenham have yet to beat a top-four side as they drew 2-2 with Chelsea in August and also lost 3-1 to rivals Arsenal earlier this month.

And this is why the Italian tactician doesn’t expect his team to challenge for the Premier League title.
The ex-Chelsea boss insists Spurs still “need time” despite the major improvement he inspired ever since his arrival in November.

Conte said: “Every time we play a game at high level, we struggle.
“We struggle against Chelsea, Chelsea dominated the game – I want to be honest.
“With Arsenal we lost and today [Wednesday] against United we lost. For sure, when the level is high we are going to struggle.
“Sometimes I hear that we [Tottenham] are title contenders and I think we need time.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘left Old Trafford before full-time and snubbed Man Utd party’ after storming down tunnel vs Spurs

CRISTIANO RONALDO reportedly left Old Trafford before the final whistle of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday evening. The Portuguese superstar, 37, stormed down the tunnel with a handful of minutes remaining in the game.

And The Athletic are now reporting he left the ground altogether before the match came to an end.
However, his absence did not spoil the dressing room celebrations as the players enjoyed a “vibrant” post-match party after their impressive win.
It’s claimed that Ronaldo’s absence “didn’t really register” with his team-mates.
United boss Erik ten Hag had used just three of his five permitted subs at the time Ronaldo left the substitutes bench and headed down the tunnel.

Ten Hag said after the game: “We will deal with that on Thursday. I saw him leaving but I didn’t speak to him after.
“I don’t pay attention to that, we want to focus on this team, it was a magnificent performance from all 11 players.
“Tonight we celebrate the result and the rest we deal with on Thursday.”
Ronaldo’s incredible sulk took the shine off what Ten Hag felt was the best performance of his reign at Old Trafford.

The United chief was also asked whether Ronaldo, 37, had permission to head for the dressing room early.
The Dutchman said: “In answer to your question, we deal with that on Thursday and what we have seen tonight was 11 players who defend, 11 players who attack. There was a lot of dynamic in the attack as well.
“I have to mention, I said 11 players, I have to correct myself, it was a performance also from the subs who came on who had a good role.”
Ronaldo was slammed for his reaction to being subbed early in Sunday’s goalless draw against Newcastle — and also threw a strop at Brentford in August.
After a pre-season clash with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford, he even headed home early after being replaced at half-time.
Ex-England defender Danny Mills said: “If he has done that, it’s an absolute disgrace.
“I think that’s disrespectful to the team, to the manager, to the fans.
“They’re winning 2-0. What complaint can he have? If they were losing 2-0, it still wouldn’t be right but I would sort of understand it.
“He clearly thinks he’s bigger than the club.”
And Gabriel Agbonlahor added: “He’s a spoilt brat. To walk down the tunnel like that is a disgrace. You can’t do that. It is so disrespectful to your team-mates.
“If I am in the changing room with Ronaldo, I want my manager to make a statement. I would leave Ronaldo out of the Chelsea game.”
Second-half goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes gave United an impressive win — which would have been more convincing but for Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris.
Ten Hag said: “It was the best team performance so far this season, we are developing.”
Spurs were lucky not to be on the wrong end of a hiding, with boss Antonio Conte worried about how they match up to the top clubs.
He said: “I have to be honest and first of all this was not the first time for us, despite the table is good, but every time we played a high level game we struggle.

“I hear people say that we are title contenders and I think we need time.

‘It’s baffling’ – Ferdinand slams Ten Hag’s ‘unfair’ decision to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at Man Utd after strop vs Spurs

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Rio Ferdinand has slammed Erik ten Hag’s “unfair” decision to leave Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench for their 2-0 win over Tottenham.Ronaldo, 37, stormed down the tunnel before the final whistle at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as he was left unused for the entirety of the game.

Ferdinand feels it is unfair for everyone involved in the Ronaldo sagaCredit: Youtube – Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has started just two of Man Utd’s 12 Premier League games so far this season.
And Ferdinand, who played with Ronaldo during his first stint at the club, feels it is not fair on anyone for the situation to carry on like this.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he said: “My only thought could be that Cristiano is being saved for the weekend against Chelsea. That’s the only way I see it, logically.
“He didn’t play today and I think Ronaldo will be absolutely fuming with that naturally and I wouldn’t expect anything different from him.

“I think the big problem Erik ten Hag’s got is that, coming up to this next window, I think he’s got to think very carefully about what he does.
“If he doesn’t see Cristiano Ronaldo as a starter in his team more often than not, I think he has to release him from the contract, has to let him go.
“It’s not fair on anybody – the club, Cristiano, Erik ten Hag or the players – that after every game he doesn’t start is ‘why didn’t didn’t Cristiano Ronaldo start?’ and that’s the story.
“Man Utd have won 2-0 today and one of the leading stories will probably be about Ronaldo tomorrow and that can’t be right.”

He continued: “So you sit here and think ‘why did Man Utd not just let him go then?’ if Erik ten Hag kind of knew he wasn’t going to part of his main plans.
“That’s the baffling part for me because you think what someone’s done in their career, at his level, the manager surely would have known before the season started ‘am I going to really play Ronaldo a lot? Is he really what I want in my team? Is he the future of what I’m building around?’
“It looks to me right now as though he would have aired on the side of ‘no’. If that’s the case, I feel he probably should have let Cristiano go.
“It’s probably going to be something that hampers him [Ten Hag] going forward until the day Ronaldo leaves the football club because of how big he is, how much of an icon, how much of a superstar he is.”
Ferdinand wasn’t the only pundit who weighed in on the Ronaldo situation following the game.
Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie described the Portuguese superstar’s actions as “incredibly disrespectful”.
And Gareth Ainsworth, who was alongside Hendrie on Soccer Saturday, went one step further by insisting “his time is over at United”.
When quizzed on how he will handle Ronaldo’s storming down the tunnel, Ten Hag said: “We will deal with that on Thursday. I saw him leaving but I didn’t speak to him after.
“I don’t pay attention to that, we want to focus on this team, it was a magnificent performance from all 11 players.

However, the player rejected the move and stayed put at the Camp Nou, despite a row with the Catalan club over £17m of unpaid wages.
But according to Sport, Ten Hag has asked United to go back in for him in the New Year.
De Jong is viewed as someone who can improve United’s creativity and control within games.
The Dutch international has started just five games for Xavi’s Barca this term, with one of those coming in the Champions League.

Whether Barca’s Champions League status plays a part in a move is yet to be seen.

And before United hosted Tottenham, Evra gave them and host Gabby Logan a good laugh by taking a chunk of grass out of the pitch and proceeding to taste it.
He said: “This is home, I call it home. It’s a little bit windy but don’t worry guys I’ve asked someone to turn off the AC.
“And yeah of course, whenever I come here I always do that. Do you know Gabby, I always taste the grass.

And his presence was sorely missed in the middle of the park, according to United legend Gary Neville.
The ex-Red Devils captain labelled Eriksen a “big player” who “glues the team together”.
Fifth-place United are back at Old Trafford tonight, but this time they’re facing third place Spurs, who have lost just one league game this season.

Seven stars who have played for Man Utd and Tottenham in the Premier League era including Eriksen and Berbatov

TOTTENHAM head to Manchester United looking to continue their best-ever start to a Premier League season – but they will be worried about a familiar face.Antonio Conte’s side currently sit third in the table and will be hoping to close the gap on leaders Arsenal to just a point with a victory at United.

But fifth-placed United, who trail Spurs by seven points, will be hoping Christian Eriksen can produce the goods and help them down his old club.
The Great Dane, 30, spent seven years in North London and helped them reach the Champions League final before departing for Inter Milan in 2020.
Following his terrifying cardiac arrest at the European Championship last year, he returned to England with Brentford on a short-term deal before United snapped him up for free in July.
Now he comes up against his old employers – but he is not the only player to represent both clubs during the Premier League era…

    MICHAEL CARRICK
The former England midfielder, who looks set to become Middlesbrough’s new manager, left Spurs after two years for United in 2006.
And he proved to be among Sir Alex Ferguson’s best signings.
He won 17 trophies, including the Champions League, during his 11-seasons playing for the Red Devils and went on to become coach after retirement.

    DIMITAR BERBATOV
The Bulgarian striker was a huge favourite at both teams, helping Spurs to win the 2008 League Cup in his final season before his big move to United for a then club-record £30.75m.
He won four trophies at the Red Devils and scored 56 goals in 149 appearances before leaving for Fulham in 2012.

    TEDDY SHERINGHAM
Another forward that was loved by both sets of supporters.
After five years at Tottenham, he moved to United on a free transfer in 1997 to help fill the void left by Eric Cantona’s retirement.
He won seven trophies at Old Trafford and infamously scored in the Treble-clinching Champions League victory over Bayern Munich in 1999.
Two years later he headed back to Spurs for another two-year spell that led to 22 goals in 70 top-flight games.

    FRAIZER CAMPBELL
Despite the success of all the above names, not everybody enjoyed their times at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford.
The forward only made two appearances at United after coming through their youth ranks.
He headed to Spurs on-loan as part of the Berbatov transfer but could only muster three goals in 22 matches before United sold him to Sunderland in 2009.

    LOUIS SAHA
The former French international is still fondly remembered by the Stretford End but barely made an impact on Spurs supporters.
He spent four campaigns at United, scoring 42 goals, and won the title twice as well as the Champions League and League Cup.
Saha joined Spurs from Everton in 2012 but his six-month stint only produced three goals as his injury problems began to mount and led to his release.

    ZEKI FRYERS
Perhaps the least known out of the players that have featured for both teams.
The defender made just two appearances at United following his progression from the academy.
After a six-month spell in Belgium at Standard Liege, he headed to Spurs in January 2013, but he only played seven times in an 18-month period.

‘Break the bank’ – Teddy Sheringham says Man Utd should go all out to sign Tottenham star Harry Kane

MANCHESTER UNITED should splash the cash on trying to sign Harry Kane, according to ex-Red Devils and Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham. The Spurs talisman has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, but so far the Lilywhites have held onto their man.

However, Man Utd are set to search for someone to lead the line for them come the end of the season when Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract expires.
And Sheringham, who left Spurs to join United in 1997, feels Kane is a player Erik ten Hag should be looking at.
Speaking to Gambling, he said: “If they’re going to go out and break the bank for someone, go out and get Harry Kane.
“He’s the type of centre-forward they lack, a proper professional, he leads the line and you’ll always get 100% out of him.

“He’s a proper player, so go break the bank for him. I know that’s going to upset the Tottenham fans but we’re talking about Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“They should be doing this sort of thing instead of spending money on players who only might do the job for you.”
Kane has been in sensational form for Tottenham so far this season, scoring 10 goals in 14 appearances.
He has netted nine times in the Premier League, more than any other player aside from Erling Haaland – who has dwarfed everyone with 15 goals in 10 games.

And while Sheringham feels United should go after Kane, he is also of the opinion that the England captain is content at Tottenham under Antonio Conte.
“Harry looks very happy to me,” he added. “He obviously had a wobble at the start of last season when he thought he might be leaving the club, and you could see he was unnerved by all that.
“He’s in good shape at the moment, has the World Cup coming up, he’s scoring goals, so he’s in fine fettle so I don’t see why he would be thinking about leaving.”
Kane is just nine goals shy of becoming Spurs’ all-time top scorer – a feat currently held by Jimmy Greaves who hit the back of the net 266 times for the club.
He is also two goals behind Wayne Rooney’s England scoring record of 53. More
