Real Madrid set to raid Man City for Erling Haaland and Joao Cancelo as they ploy ambitious double transfer swoop

REAL MADRID are keen on pinching two of Manchester City’s star men in an ambitious double transfer swoop, a report has claimed. The Spanish and European champions want to continue bolstering their already stacked squad.

In the summer transfer window, Real added the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni to Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
But the next two summers could be even bigger with Real hoping to weaken one of their main threats in Europe, Man City.
According to AS, Real want to reignite their interest in Haaland, 22, who has scored 14 goals in 11 games played for the Premier League champions this season.
Haaland has a £161million release clause which is valid for the summer of 2024, the date set by Real to start the transfer operation.

The forward held talks with Real before his move to City, but opted against signing on at the Bernabeu as he did not want to compete with Karim Benzema.
The report also claims Real would like to sign full-back Joao Cancelo.
The 29-year-old has a contract at the Etihad until the summer of 2027.
However, it is believed he could be picked up for a fee between £36-£45m next summer.

Ancelotti knows the player well from when he was managing in the Prem at Everton.
Ferland Mendy would play in Cancelo’s position.
But the Frenchman’s future at Real is in doubt, despite being contracted until 2025.
Mendy’s requests are above what Real are willing to pay, and so any renewal has been put on hold, playing in favour of Cancelo. More

She managed to get a Sporting Lisbon present to the top of the pile of gifts under her son’s gift-laden Christmas tree at the end of last year.
Sharp-eyed Sporting fans congratulated her on her dexterity – after a green bag with the club’s initials on it appeared centre-stage in a photo the footballer and his family used to wish his millions of Instagram fans a ‘Merry Christmas.’
The mum-of-four was among relatives who shared the same snap on their social media.
Dolores admitted on Sporting Lisbon podcast ADN de Leao in September last year she had asked her footballer son to return to the club where he began his senior career before signing for Manchester United in 2003 aged just 18.
Two months later she cheekily reposted a photo to her Instagram Story of her celebrating Sporting Lisbon’s 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and wrote: “Only you needed” in an apparent message to the Man United striker.
Cristiano is staying put at Old Trafford until at least January following his failed efforts to leave and guarantee himself Champions League football this season, although his two-year contract doesn’t run out until the end of the season.
He is said to have explored the option of a move to Sporting Lisbon over the summer at the height of the speculation surrounding his future.
Cristiano Jr, meanwhile, is flourishing in United’s academy.

MANCHESTER UNITED still want to sign PSV winger Cody Gakpo, according to reports. The Red Devils chased the Dutchman last month, only to sign Ajax’s Antony instead.

United initially believed they would only need to splash out £50million on the Brazilian, which would have enabled them to also spend £25m on Gakpo.
But with Ajax eventually squeezing £85m out of them, Erik ten Hag’s side could no longer afford the PSV star’s services.
According to Forbes, United remain interested in Gakpo and were left relieved when he snubbed advances from other teams.
The Red Devils could look to table a bid for him in January or next summer, although his PSV contract runs until 2026.

Everton and Southampton both made ambitious approaches for Gakpo in the final week of the transfer window, only to be turned down.
Despite claiming he was satisfied to stay at PSV, Gakpo hit out at the manner of United’s approach.
He said: “There are more factors at play. The World Cup also played a role.
“I spoke to the national coach. I called him and asked for advice. The advice was clear: that I had to follow my gut feeling, but that a transfer before the World Cup is not really ideal for the player, because then you have to get used to something. I agreed with him.

“It was all last minute for me, because until last week I thought I was going to Manchester.
“Then it was choose another club and decide whether I wanted to go there. That is not nice for PSV and also not for me, because it felt rushed.”
Despite the situation, PSV boss and former Red Devil Ruud van Nistelrooy has been impressed by Gakpo’s application.
He said: “We have not seen Cody changing his behaviour up to now.
“I admire that a lot in him, he’s working on his development on a daily basis, playing in games and reaching his levels. He’s not distracted…For a young guy like him, it’s special to see that attitude.”
Gakpo has been in sparkling form this term, scoring eight goals and laying on six assists in just seven Eredivisie appearances.
He also scored in his side’s Europa League Group A opener against Bodo/Glimt, being handed the captain’s armband for the fixture.

Cristiano Ronaldo was open to mega £210m transfer from Man Utd to Saudi Arabia with deal only failing over transfer ban

CRISTIANO Ronaldo was open to a £210million transfer to Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal before the deal fell through, it has been claimed. The club’s president Fahad ben Nafel claims the move only collapsed due to the side having a transfer ban and it was not the player rejecting the move.

He also insisted he held talks with the 37-year-old striker who wanted to leave Man Utd in the summer.
Ronaldo was offered an eye-watering £2million-a-week contract for two years.
He was set to pocket £210m while there was also a £25m transfer fee going to United.
Ben Nafel said: “Yes, we negotiated with Ronaldo. The problem was not in the money or the principle.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
“Al-Hilal is able to bring in the stars of the world, but it was in the decision of the Sports Arbitration Centre that prevented us from registering the players.
“We did not stop negotiating with the players despite the decision to ban, but we were delaying entering the final stage of the negotiations until the ban was lifted.”
Al-Hilal have a transfer ban due to a fiasco with signing Mohmed Kanno when he was accidently registered for two clubs at the same time.
If the statements from Ben Nafel are true then despite Ronaldo supposedly wanting out of Old Trafford for Champions League football it didn’t stop him not listening to Al-Hilal.

The size of the bid in full is incredible given CR7’s age and his lack of form recently.
He has netted just once this season – a penalty in the Europa League versus Sheriff Tiraspol.
The Portuguese international has also had his minutes limited this season as he is often used off the bench by Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo continues to start for his country though despite some questioning whether he should given his underwhelming performances.
If Al-Hilal did add Ronaldo to their squad then he would join a team with some familiar faces.
Ex-United striker Odion Ighalo, former West Brom star Matheus Pereira and ex-Porto forward Moussa Marega are all at the club. More

Instead, United had to settle for a sixth-placed finish and Europa League football.
Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, held talks with a number of top Champions League clubs.
But none decided to follow up with an official move for the 816-goal man.
It has been revealed, though, that Serie A champions AC Milan were offered Ronaldo late on by Mendes, journalist Gianluca di Marzio has reported via mbn.com.

Mendes had desperately tried to engineer a move for Ronaldo’s compatriot Rafael Leao to Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea, so that there could be room for the football icon at the San Siro.
However, Portugal international Leao, 23, stayed put having netted 11 times and registered 10 assists in Milan’s title-winning season last term.
With Ronaldo stranded at United, and in the final year of his contract, he has had to settle with watching most games from the bench until called upon.
Ronaldo has started just three times for United this season, with two of those coming in the Europa League against Real Sociedad and Moldovan side Sheriff.

His only goal of the season came in the away game at Sheriff, netting from the penalty spot.
And Ronaldo’s dip in form has even seen Portugal fans call for their captain to drop to the bench despite being in a World Cup year.
Those calls were ignored and he started both of Portugal’s matches during the international break – but failed to score in either.
The 2022 tournament later this year in Qatar, is expected to be his last World Cup. More
