And that made him the youngest captain in the history of the German top division.
Despite not being on the winning side, as Dortmund fell to a 3-2 defeat, Bellingham still managed an assist for the opener.
His appointment comes after usual captains Marco Reus and Mats Hummels were unavailable.
Bellingham has also been heavily linked with a move away from the German club.

SunSport revealed last month how Bellingham was available for an £83million transfer if the money was all paid up front.
European heavyweights such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all interested in his services.
United’s plans for next summer reportedly hinge on both Bellingham and long-term target Frenkie de Jong joining Erik ten Hag’s project.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Chelsea both want the England midfielder to become their new main man as they plot midfield overhauls.

However, Real Madrid are ready to throw a spanner in the works, and are reportedly Bellingham’s favoured destination.

Man Utd could land Goncalo Ramos transfer in January as Benfica consider £35m sale with host of Euro giants keen

MANCHESTER UNITED could land Goncalo Ramos in a January transfer, according to reports. The Red Devils are desperate to sign a new striker to bolster their front line.

United’s rivals improved up front in the summer with Erling Haaland heading to Manchester City, Gabriel Jesus joining Arsenal and Liverpool landing Darwin Nunez from Benfica.
And Nunez’s replacement Ramos has hit the ground running already this season with eight goals and six assists in 12 matches.
That included a hat-trick to help the Portuguese giants qualify for the Champions League.
Ramos is under contract at Benfica until 2025, signing a new deal last year.

But according to JN in Portugal, United are hopeful of luring him to Old Trafford in January.
However, they face competition from a number of top European sides including Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and mega-rich Newcastle – who failed in their pursuit of Ramos in the summer.
It is said Benfica would want around £35million for the 21-year-old striker.
United, who did not replace Edinson Cavani, look set to lose Cristiano Ronaldo in 2023 – either in January or at the end of the season – while Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have suffered injury and form struggles.

And Ramos is confident he has everything it takes to be a successful No9 in modern football.
He said: “Increasingly, more is asked of a spearhead to be more complete.
“People thought that a striker is only there to score goals and the rest doesn’t matter, but I think that over the last few years that image is disappearing a little bit.
“It is increasingly important for a striker to be more in the game and contribute more to the team, to connect the game, to put pressure on.
“Often with movements in which you end up in another position and ask for another type of task.” More

Ruben Neves ‘snubbed Man Utd and Liverpool in summer to hold out on dream Barcelona transfer’

But he ended up staying put as Bruno Lage’s men clung onto their man despite widespread interest.
According to Sport, two clubs who were hoping to negotiate with Neves were Man Utd and Liverpool.
Both sides were in search of options in central midfield over the summer.
Erik ten Hag was looking to replace the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, while Jurgen Klopp began searching towards the end of the window following injury concerns and poor form.

However, it is reported that Neves showed very little desire to negotiate with either club.
This was because he had caught wind of Barcelona’s interest in him.
The Catalan giants’ financial situation meant they would not be able to sign him in the summer window, but Neves is willing to wait until 2023.
It is said to be his “dream” move, with Barca seeing the Portuguese international as a suitable replacement to Sergio Busquets – who is set to join Inter Miami at the end of the season.

And PSG were rumoured to be interested in acquiring Rashford despite his record of just five goals in 32 appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.

Erling Haaland knows his Manchester derby history… but will call dad Alfie before facing Man Utd for extra motivation

ERLING HAALAND will have a chat with his dad Alf Inge before he plays in his first Manchester derby on Sunday. The Norwegian hotshot grew up as a City fan and won’t need any extra motivation for the showdown with United at the Etihad.

Haaland snr’s career was as good as ended by Keane’s horror tackleCredit: Sky
But Haaland Sr may provide some – as he was famously pushed towards retirement by a horror tackle from Roy Keane in this fixture 21 years ago.
The scars obviously run pretty deep in the 14-goal striker’s family.
When Erling was introduced to the City fans at a special event back in July he was asked which fixture he was looking forward to the most.
“I don’t like to say the words… Manchester United,” he replied – to huge cheers from the supporters who had gathered to greet him.

On Sunday he will get a first chance to show the Red Devils just how much he dislikes them – and might have some words from his old man ringing in his ears.
The £51.4million ace said: “I will probably speak to my dad about it, yeah, but I know what it’s like and I’m ready.
“I’m excited, it will be a great experience. Hopefully a good, intense game and I look forward to it.
“I expect United to be hard-working, they’ll come to us to try to destroy us but we have to believe in ourselves and to perform well and take advantage of being at home.

“We have to attack the game.”
Alf Inge’s career was not ended by Keane’s challenge – but he later claimed his sore knee had been a factor in his retirement the following year.
But his boy says he has other more positive recollections of the derby – with one in particular sticking in his mind.
He said: “I remember [Mario] Balotelli at Old Trafford with the ‘Why Always Me’ celebration. I remember that one particularly well. I gotta say.
“I’ve got some good memories but I’m looking forward to making some new ones.”
Much has been made of Haaland’s match up with United’s 5ft, 9in centre-back Lisandro Martinez – but the Norwegian says he does not worry too much who he is up against.
He said: “I’ve not really thought about it too much. I’ve already been facing a lot of good defenders – but there’s nobody I don’t want to face. It doesn’t matter.”
“But I’m hoping we can play our best football – if so I think it could be a lovely evening..
“I hope it’ll be fun. I’m hoping everyone at City is ready for the game and attacks at the same time.”
It is easy to forget Haaland could become the first player in Prem history to score three consecutive home hat-tricks – given the other two came at the end of August.

He smiled: ”I don’t think about that. Of course I love to score goals but I want to play good and perform well with the team and if we do that, as a striker I should always score goals.”
The bad news for United – and for defenders around the country – is that Pep Guardiola believes Haaland has put his injury woes behind him.
He struggled to stay fit during his final year at Borussia Dortmund and was not able to take part in the first week of pre-season as a result.
City sent physio Mario Pafundi with their striker to the Norwegian camp last week to keep an eye on him and to ensure the practices which have worked so well so far were followed.
And the City boss said: “I’ve always said to the club that the most important department in the backroom staff is the physios. They take care of the legs.
“Erling struggled a lot in Dortmund last year with injuries and arrived here with small problems after surgery in the summer.
“He started to work with Mario and other guys and thanks to them – and his work ethic – he can play regularly now.
    Read More on The Sun
“Last season it was not possible. Thank you to Erling and the treatment from the guys.
“The clubs earn a lot of money when the players can play and most of the time it’s thanks to the physios.”

Man Utd boosted in Endrick transfer chase as Brazil wonderkid’s agent denies he is on way to Real Madrid or Barcelona

Pena confirmed there are many clubs keeping tabs on the Brazil Under-16 international but none have tabled an official offer to sign him.
That works as a major transfer boost for United, who have been keeping tabs on Endrick for a while.
However, Endrick can’t leave Brazil before he turns 18, therefore a potential deal won’t see the youngster moving from Palmeiras until 2024.
Pena told ESPN: “The international break is always the same, there’s no news and this ‘froth’ starts.

“Every club in the world is interested in Endrick. All of them! Which is the most normal thing in the world. With his quality, his youth…
“But none of them have made any proposal to us or Palmeiras to buy him.
“He has to play for Palmeiras until he turns 18. Consequently, he’ll play at Palmeiras for at least 22 more months.
“Endrick’s contract with Palmeiras runs until July 2025… He can only move abroad from Brazil from July 2024.

“No player under the age of 18 can move abroad. He can be sold, but he cannot be transferred.
“In other words, a club comes here, they do a deal with Palmeiras. But he can’t leave. He has to stay at Palmeiras even though he’s already been sold.”
Endrick joined the Palmeiras academy at the age of 11 and has since scored a staggering total of 165 goals.
The highly-rated centre-forward has yet to make his first-team debut, but has also attracted interest from Newcastle, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain. More
