JUST over 20 per cent of Cristiano Ronaldo’s 700 club goals have come at Manchester United. The five-time Champions League and Ballon d’Or winner notched his 700th in the 2-1 Premier League win over Everton on Sunday, beating long-time rival Lionel Messi to the feat.

Ronaldo was played in behind Everton’s backline with an inch-perfect pass by summer signing Casemiro.
The 37-year-old took two touches before firing low past the Toffees keeper.
But just over 20 per cent of CR7’s club football strikes have come at Man Utd, despite spending over seven years of his career at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s first spell at the club came between 2003 and 2009 after leaving boyhood club Sporting Lisbon, where he managed just five goals.

During that time, Ronaldo scored 118 goals, winning seven trophies including three league titles and a Champions League.
In 2008, Ronaldo claimed his first Ballon d’Or for his fine performances in England.
An eye-watering 64 per cent of Ronaldo’s goals came at his next club, Real Madrid.
It turned out to be £84million well spent as Ronaldo scored 450 goals.

He helped Real win two LaLigas and four Champions Leagues.
Ronaldo claimed a further four Ballon d’Or’s for his contributions in the Spanish capital before moving to Juventus in 2018.
Domestically, Ronaldo enjoyed success, winning two Serie As, while netting 101 goals for the Old Lady.
However, Juventus didn’t enjoy the success they had hoped of having in Europe following Ronaldo’s arrival.
And after Juve lost their Italian crown to Inter Milan in the 2020/21 season, Ronaldo sealed a fairytale return to United where he added another 26 goals to the 118 he notched in his first spell.
Ronaldo may have beaten Messi to 700 club goals, but whether he’ll stay ahead is yet to be seen.
CR7 has spent most of his time on Man Utd’s bench under new boss Erik ten Hag and has just two goals this term.
He also wanted to leave United after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League last season with a sixth-placed finish.
Messi, meanwhile, is just nine club goals behind Ronaldo’s record having played 118 games LESS.
Messi is also two-and-a-bit years younger.
The 35-year-old Argentine is in rich form after a struggling debut season at Paris Saint-Germain.
He has eight goals this term, three shy of his total tally for last season.
An astonishing 97 per cent of Messi’s goals came at boyhood club Barcelona.

The magic man netted 672 goals in 778 games.
Messi also has seven Ballon d’Ors to Ronaldo’s five, but is one Champions League shy of his rival. More

Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus are all reportedly keen on signing the 27-year-old.

Rumours suggest that if a new contract isn’t agreed Lotito would still not want to sell him to Juventus as they are a direct rival.
Manager Maurizio Sarri recently slammed the Italian press for leading on stories about his departure to Juve calling them “bias”.
United boss Erik ten Hag supposedly saw Milinkovic-Savic as a Frenkie de Jong alternative over the summer.

And it was keeper Costa, 23, who is valued at £30million, that produced the first magical moment of the game as he picked out Galeno with an 80-yard pass in the sixth minute.
He found the Porto man deep inside the Leverkusen half with an inch-perfect pick-out.
And Galeno did the rest to give the visitors an early lead.
Then in the 16th minute, Porto called on Costa once more when the German hosts were awarded a penalty.

Kerem Demirbay stepped up to level the game but Portugal’s Costa guessed correct and clawed the ball.
It makes him the first keeper in Champions League history to assist a goal and save a penalty in the same game.
It proved to be a crucial moment in the game as Porto then ran away with the game in the second half, winning it 3-0 thanks to a pair of penalties from Mehdi Taremi.
And Man Utd fans, who have seen their club linked with the shot-stopper, were gushing in their praise of his ability.

One said: “We have to get Diogo Costa next summer at all costs. Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Cristiano Ronaldo, do your thing🧤.”
Another added: “Diogo Costa, I can’t say it any more. He’s the one.”
And a third said: “We should be activating Diogo Costa’s release clause for next season (€60m/£52.4m) unless Porto accept something less.
“He should be a priority signing and will probably be our No1 for a decade.”
It was revealed earlier this month that Man Utd have sent scouts to watch Costa – who has been capped seven times by Portugal.
And he is being monitored as a possible replacement for David de Gea – who is out of contract in the summer. More

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have both been preferred to him up front.
And even when he has played, Ronaldo has managed just two goals in his 10 appearances.
He is being linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the January window.
And if that does happen, Calciomercato are reporting that Man Utd are monitoring Toney’s situation ahead of a potential approach.

Toney has scored six Premier League goals in nine matches so far this season.
He was also Brentford’s top scorer last season with 14 goals to his name, one year after he netted a then record 31 times in the Championship to earn his side promotion to the top flight.
And his superb form earned him an England call-up for last month’s Nations League games against Italy and Germany.
The 26-year-old is under contract with Brentford until 2025, with the club hoping they can keep him by offering a new £100-a-week deal.

It comes amid interest from a host of Prem sides, with United joined by Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham in the race to acquire his signature.
Toney had to apologise in January after a video of him saying “f**k Brentford” while on holiday in Dubai was published on social media.
But he remains one of Thomas Frank’s key players on the pitch as they look to secure Premier League safety for a second successive campaign. More

And in doing so, he unveiled some of the details of chats he has had with the legendary forward, who has endured a frustrating season with his time in the team coming mostly from the bench.
Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, Ferdinand said: “When I’ve spoken to him during this period of not playing… Obviously there’s an undertone of p***** off.
“But the calmness with which ‘the chance will come and I score goals’, It’s plain and simple, the chance will come at some point.
“There’s no doubt in my mind he’s upset – of course he is but I think every professional who rates themselves and wants to play games week in, week out will have a divine right to be upset, that’s a given.

“But then it’s about what you do after and when you’re given the opportunity. You don’t go in and sulk. He’s the quickest one off the bench when he’s being asked to go on the pitch.”
Ronaldo came off the bench against Everton to score the match-winner and reach an astonishing 700 club career goals.
Of the games Ronaldo has started, he has scored just once – a penalty against Sheriff in the Europa League.
The 37-year-old has been playing second fiddle to the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, but an injury to the latter might see Ronaldo afforded an opportunity to start in the league.

However, asides from one game in the Premier League, a 4-0 loss to Brentford, Ronaldo has seen all his Prem appearances come from the bench this season.

Ferdinand added: “When he goes out there you can see there’s a hunger and desire to score goals. This is all after scoring 699 goals at club level.
“This guy has got an obsession with beating the haters, ramming it down their throats. That 700 was to people like Jamie Carragher and people like that who are desperate to get him out of the door.”
