Man Utd fans bizarrely claim Prem is FIXED for Arsenal after Casemiro yellow and huge penalty call

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have wildly claimed the Premier League is FIXED for Arsenal after two costly decisions in Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.Scott McTominay was denied a penalty and fellow Red Devils’ midfielder Casemiro will miss Sunday’s trip to the table-topping Gunners after being booked.

Many Man Utd fans were convinced this challenge by Palace’s Chris Richards on Scott McTominay should have brought a spot-kickCredit: Getty
Those two moments sparked some outlandish allegations on social media after United missed the win that would have put them second.
The most bizarre suggestion was: “They’ve rigged the league for Arsenal to win. What a disgraceful League this is, the Premier League do not deserve Manchester United.”
Another supporter posted: “It looked a pen in real time, the replay confirmed it? Not a good night for the integrity of referees, especially after VAR missed Martinez getting an elbow to the head.”
Sunsport’s refereeing expert and former prem whistler Mark Halsey believes McTominay “SHOULD” have got a spot-kick.

The Scot tumbled after Chris Richards stood across him.
But VAR official Neil Swarbrick declined to intervene as he felt ref Robert Jones had not made a clear and obvious error.
Most United fans, however, appeared to agree that Casemiro deserved his yellow card after he floored Wilfried Zaha with a reckless challenge.
And many observers suggested it could easily have been a red card.

The Red Devils were edging to victory through Bruno Fernandes’ neat finish when McTominay went sprawling.
Some United supporters labelled it a “stonewall” or “definite” penalty but others argued it was difficult to judge if Richards made contact with the ball or player.
But after the spot-kick row, Michael Olise snatched a draw for the Eagles in stoppage time with a brilliant free-kick.
And this post spoke for many Red Devils’ supporters: “Not only should that have been a pen, would’ve probably meant Rashford keeps his scoring form, win the game (2-0) and Casemiro is off without the yellow.
“Now we dropped 2 points and Casemiro is suspended. Absolutely gutted.” More

Manchester United star Casemiro is actually called Carlos Henrique CasimiroCredit: Getty
But very few are aware that the midfielder’s name is in fact NOT Casemiro.
It’s actually, Carlos Henrique Casimiro but the 30-year-old has been going by a modified version of his surname.
The Brazilian has previously addressed that issue and explained why his name is misspelled.
It all started during his youth years in Brazil when he played a fantastic game for Sao Paulo and people kept mispronouncing him.

Casemiro said: “Very few people know my name is Casimiro, because my mother’s surname is spelt with an ‘i’, not an ‘e’: Casimiro.
“When I played in Brazil, there was a game in Sao Paulo when people incorrectly named me Casemiro.
“I played very well that game and I decided that people should keep calling me Casemiro, with the ‘e’. It has not changed since.”
Casemiro joined United last summer following a £70million deal with Real.

Man Utd Treble winner unrecognisable as he wins MasterChef sporting flowing grey ponytail

A MANCHESTER UNITED treble winner looks completely unrecognisable decades on from his days at Old Trafford and is now a MasterChef winner.Sir Alex Ferguson led his Red Devils to the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in a remarkable fortnight nearly 24 years ago.
The Man Utd legend won MasterChef in SwedenCredit: Instagram @jesperblomqvistofficial
He beat TV personality Karl FredriksCredit: Instagram @jesperblomqvistofficial
The names that immediately spring to mind from that side are the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Teddy Sheringham, David Beckham, Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.
But one man who many may have forgotten is a Swedish midfielder.
He made 25 Premier League appearances in that momentous season and also collected an FA Cup winners medal despite being an unused substitute in the final.
The ex-footie ace then started the Champions League final against Bayern Munich before being taken off for Teddy Sheringham – who would go on to score the equalising goal.

Shortly after United’s European triumph the Swede suffered a serious knee injury and never played for the club again.
And Man Utd fans may find it incredibly difficult to recognise him these days as he looks completely different to when he was gracing the Old Trafford pitch more than two decades ago.
The mystery footballer can be revealed as… Jesper Blomqvist.
Blomqvist is rocking a ponytail, beard, and does not possess the vibrant blonde hair he once had as a player.

    MasterChef? No problem.
The footie star-turned-cook won the competition beating TV personality Karl Fredriks.
On his win, he said on Instagram: “What a lovely competitor I had on the other side of the kitchen table in @karlfredrik.se and what an exciting final it was.
“Even though I knew the result, I got all sweaty watching it on TV.
“Incredibly happy, grateful and humble for the win, know that you Karl-Fredrik might as well have won, it was an incredibly tough & even final.
“The whole production has been amazingly funny, educational but also tough.
“Then it helps to have such awesome competitors, jury members and the rest of the recording team who supports, pepper and spurs 🙏💪🙌 thank you all for a wonderful adventure🙏❤️🙏❤️.”
What’s more, after a brief attempt at management, he found a new passion as he runs his own pizzeria.
Speaking to The Telegraph about his new life previously, he said: “I have to say it is tough when people ask me in the beginning, ‘What are you doing?’ And I say, ‘I have a pizzeria’. It was tough that people look down at you.
“Then I have to explain it’s the best pizzeria! Now I don’t care. People seem to be saying, ‘Are you down there? Have you lost all your money?’ I couldn’t care less.
“I can understand it and feel it myself. It’s not a problem. It’s just me who has to work with myself. Footballers have been very spoiled. It’s very easy to lose perspective and to get carried away and this money can destroy players.
“It’s the way it is, you have to learn to handle it and it’s difficult. I am so happy I was brought up in the north of Sweden where you keep your feet on the ground and you have to work hard.”
Blomqvist, 48, also explained why he decided to pack in management after just two years – where he coached Swedish sides Enkoping and Hammarby IF.
“Putting the team in front and not taking into consideration the human being behind the player – for me, that was the toughest challenge,” he added.
“I tend to look more at the human being. Ferguson was good at that. When it comes to winning games you can’t care about the human being.
“You have to be ruthless and sometimes I missed that. That’s my nature and it is hard to change.”

Blomqvist was back in a United shirt last summer.
He joined up with several other familiar names to line-up for Man Utd Legends against their Liverpool counterparts – but they suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Reds.

Ultimate combined XI from Wenger’s Arsenal Invincibles and Man Utd’s 2008 Champions League-winning heroes

ARSENAL welcome Manchester United to the Emirates this weekend with both in the race for the Premier League title. The Gunners are sat top of the Premier League after 18 games, picking up 47 points.

Here’s the best combined XI that we have chosen
Both Manchester clubs are trailing by eight points, but United can close the gap to five with a win on Sunday.
During the heyday of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, the two teams would be regularly battling it out for the Prem title.
In fact, for nine consecutive years from 1996 the trophy belonged exclusively to the both of them.
Arsenal won it for the first time under Wenger in 1998 and lifted it another two times under the Frenchman.

But undoubtedly their greatest – and last – title-winning campaign occurred in 2004.
With Thierry Henry leading their star-studded side, the Gunners incredibly went the whole campaign unbeaten, leading to them being dubbed ‘The Invincibles’ by fans and pundits.
However, one thing they failed to do under Wenger was conquer Europe.
They did manage to reach the 2006 Champions League final, but they suffered defeat to Barcelona.

But Fergie did manage to win it twice during his long-stay at Old Trafford, the first occurring in the 1999 treble season.
He followed that up with success over Chelsea in the 2008 final after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
Both Arsenal’s Invincibles and United’s Champions League winning squad from ‘08 were stacked with quality.
But ahead of the latest Arsenal vs Man Utd clash at the Emirates, we decided to try and pick an XI out of both sets of players from those eras.
Jens Lehmann was in goal for Arsenal, but we’ve opted for United’s Dutchman Edwin van der Sar.
Ashley Cole gets the nod over Patrice Evra at left-back, while his former Gunners team-mate Lauren is in on the right.
An all-English centre-back pairing of Sol Campbell and Rio Ferdinand would take some stopping, especially with ex-Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira protecting them in midfield.
With United legend Paul Scholes alongside him, there would also be plenty of ammunition for the vast array of attacking talents.
Robert Pires was almost unstoppable for the Gunners back then, and he is almost impossible to leave out – despite the greatness of Ryan Giggs.
You also have to find a way to fit in Cristiano Ronaldo, and as he was playing winger back then rather than forward, we’ve squeezed him in on the right.
Then it comes to picking the forwards and we feel almost guilty for leaving out Arsenal’s fantastic Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp.
    Read More on The Sun
The same can be said of United’s 2008 hero Carlos Tevez – but Wayne Rooney just edges it to line-up with Henry up front.
And whether you agree or not, we reckon even the second-string that we have assembled below would still be big favourites to win the league if they were together in their pomp.
This second string would still mount a serious title challenge More

Ex-Man Utd star Chris Eagles compares his journey to David Beckham’s and was one of Sir Alex Ferguson favourites

Like Beckham, Eagles was plucked from well outside United’s catchment area and the Hertfordshire-born player recalled how he made the move.
The 37-year-old told Ladbrokes: “I went up there for a game and just fell in love with the club.
“I moved into digs at 14 and at first I was obviously excited because it was like a holiday to me. I loved Manchester, I love northerners.
“School was difficult because I was a southerner, but training-wise we used to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays and play on Saturdays.

“My youth team was frightening; we didn’t lose. In the old days we had myself, Phil Bardsley, Luke Steele, Kieran Richardson, Tom Heaton, Paul McShane, Gerard Pique, Giuseppe Rossi.
“School helped me a lot; I got much better results because I was away from home and my friends which meant I just concentrated on getting good results.
“Man United made sure we worked hard and got good grades. The only time I’d have off to come home was in school holidays, but it would never be for a long time.
“In digs I started off living with a family on my own – I still see them now actually, four times a week, they look after my kids!

“Then I was with Fraizer Campbell who stayed for long weekends because he was only from Huddersfield. But I was there more or less on my own.
“Sir Alex Ferguson had a lot of involvement with me as a kid because he knew I’d moved away from home.
“I wasn’t too dissimilar to David Beckham in that respect; we’d both moved from London to Manchester as youngsters.”
Red Devils icon Ferguson gave Eagles his debut in 2003 but he failed to make the cut and left for Burnley after several loan spells.
But the former prodigy knew that Fergie, 81, held him in high regard as one of his top young stars despite a telling-off for underage driving.
He continued: “Sir Alex had his certain players like me, Darren Fletcher and Kieran Richardson who he had soft spots for. If I was ever trouble he’d tell me off, though.
“I drove a car somewhere when I was 15 and Sir Alex found out about it and called me in his office. I was petrified.
“It’s the worst experience ever because you don’t know what he’s going to do. I can remember standing outside of his office, sweating, going red.

“He used to have a folder where he used to keep his notes. It was a hard-back. Every time he walked past me he used to just slap me on the head with it – all in good humour obviously.

‘He cost Man Utd victory’ – Piers Morgan again blasts Casemiro as he trolls Rio Ferdinand after star banned for Arsenal

PIERS MORGAN trolled Rio Ferdinand by saying that Casemiro cost Manchester United victory against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils were on course for a tenth win on the bounce at Selhurst Park when Bruno Fernandes fired them ahead just before the break.
Casemiro received his fifth booking of the season and is now suspendedCredit: PA
But things turned sour for United late on.
Firstly, Casemiro picked up his fifth booking of the season after bringing down Wilfried Zaha, which rules him out of Sunday’s trip to Arsenal.
And Erik ten Hag’s side then suffered a second late blow when Michael Olise’ last-gasp free-kick rescued a point.
Piers took to Twitter in response to Palace’s goal and tagged Ferdinand in a tweet.

The pair have been arguing this week about who’s better between the Casemiro and Thomas Partey ahead of the clash at the Emirates.
Ferdinand said: “In terms of who’s more important to their team, you can argue for both sides.
“But when you throw the stats in, Casemiro wipes the floor with him.
“I don’t think Partey is good enough defensively to do what Casemiro is doing. I don’t think he has the impact to do defensively what Casemiro is doing for Man United.”

Piers responded on Twitter: “Hi @rioferdy5 if you genuinely think Partey isn’t as good as Casemiro then you’re in for a nasty shock on Sunday when he bullies your guy into submission and I get this trending again… #Tears4Rio”
And the SunSport columnist once again hit out at the ex-United defender moments after the full-time whistle.
He said: “So, Casemiro got himself suspended for Sunday’s big match against Arsenal, and then missed an absolute sitter at the end to cost Utd victory. Better than Partey? Methinks not.. cc @rioferdy5.”
It was a poor night all round for United, who dropped two crucial points in their pursuit of Arsenal at the top.
And they’ll now be without one of their most in-form players for the trip to North London. More

Watch David De Gea make ‘best ever save’ as Man Utd goalkeeper incredibly tips Edouard shot onto bar at Crystal Palace

DAVID DE GEA produced a save-of-the-season contender to keep to Crystal Palace at bay against Manchester United. The Spaniard put himself at full stretch to get a fingertip to Odsonne Eduoard’s looping shot from outside the area and push it onto the crossbar.

David De Gea produced a stunning save to deny Odsonne Eduoard
At full stretch, he managed to push the ball onto the crossbar
And fans were quick to heap praise on the United veteran.
One fan said: “I can’t believe that De Gea save, that’s surely his best save ever.”
A second fan wrote: “Brilliant save De Gea!”

Man Utd ratings: Wan-Bissaka may have a future after all, Eriksen shows his class but Antony far too wasteful

MANCHESTER UNITED were held at Crystal Palace on a cold Wednesday evening in South London. Bruno Fernandes’ first-half strike was cancelled out by Michael Olise’s stunning late free-kick.

David De Gea produced a save-of-the-season contender to keep the Eagles at bay in the first half and another strong save in the second, but could do nothing about the free-kick.
While United dominated proceedings in the first half, it was Palace who had the advantage in the second.
Wilfried Zaha in particular caused issues and forced a foul from Casemiro which saw a yellow card issued and will make him miss the weekend clash at Arsenal.
Here’s how SunSport’s Tom Barclay rated the Red Devils.
    David De Gea – 7
Produced a vital stop just before United’s opener by tipping Odsonne’s Edouard’s effort onto the crossbar.
Absolutely nothing he could do though about Michael Olise’s stunning late free-kick, which crashed in off the bar.
    Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8
Kept up his renaissance with an impressive display, showing willing running down the right and some assured dribbling.
Almost had an assist when crossing for Luke Shaw and won his battle against old mucker Wilfried Zaha.
    Most read in Football
    Raphael Varane – 7
His partnership with Lisandro Martinez continues to blossom the more they play together.
Showed good pace to race back when Jean-Philippe Mateta was set to pounce on a loose Martinez header.
    Lisandro Martinez – 8
Call him Lisandro Butcher. The World Cup winner had his head bandaged up like old Terry after Edouard’s accidental elbow sent him flying.
Outmuscled Mateta at times, despite their size difference, and often brought the ball out of defence with his neat dribbling.
    Luke Shaw – 7
The man Erik ten Hag calls a “leader” of his team had another solid game.
Fired a volley wide, showed bravery in the air and almost created Wout Weghorst’s first United goal when the debutant headed his cross onto the roof of the net.
    Casemiro – 7
Tidy performance as ever but a late yellow card for a cynical foul on Zaha means he is suspended for Sunday’s titanic clash with Arsenal.
Will be a huge loss given his impact this season since arriving from Real Madrid.
Casemiro will now miss Sunday’s clash against Arsenal owing to the yellow he picked upCredit: PA
    Christian Eriksen – 8
Remember when Danny Murphy thought Eriksen would merely be a squad player, someone who would not help United get back to competing at the top?
The freebie Dane picked up his seventh Premier League assist of the season – only beaten by Kevin De Bruyne – by teeing up Fernandes.
    Antony – 5
Full of running and full of fire, arguing with both opponent Tyrick Mitchell and his own team-mate Fernandes during the first half.
But did not offer a whole lot more apart from a few tame efforts.
    Bruno Fernandes – 7
Was having a mixed game with some decent passes, a few slow touches and a mini-row with Antony… and then he scored.
Lovely finish into the far corner for his fifth for United of the season. Should be targeting far more than that from now until May.
Fernandes fired in United’s opener and put in a strong performance overallCredit: Getty
    Marcus Rashford – 6
The man of the moment but not the man of this match. Rashford’s touch looked assured and was full of positive movement but did not threaten too much here.
Fired a free-kick well wide before the break and smashed over after it.
    Wout Weghorst – 6
Did pretty well on debut, offering his side a focal point up top and working hard to win back possession.
The nearest he came to a goal was heading Shaw’s cross onto the roof of the net half an hour into the game.
